Commons- jar's Compatibility with Java 1.7

Hi,
I need to know the compatibility between the following jar files and java 1.7:
commons-beanUtils 1.8.0
commons-codec 1.3
commons-collections 3.1
commons-digester 1.8.1
commons-Fileupload 1.1.1
commonsHttpClient 3.1
commons-io 1.1
jcifs 1.2.25
jdom 1.6.1
jcsh 1.41
commons-net 2.0
commons-validator 1.3.0

But since they're a pool of ever changing open source devs, better just make assumptions. 100% compatibility unless you can prove otherwise. Which you likely can't.

  • OATS Compatability with Java 8 update 25

    Hello All,
    Question regarding OATS compatibility with Java 8 update 25.
    We are currently running OATS 12.2.0.1 with Java 6 update 7 without any problems but now we have to update our Java,
    Does anyone know if OATS 12.2 will support Java 8?
    Or will OATS 12.4 support Java 8?
    Also, is it possible to run OATS on Google Chrome as the default browser?
    Any feedback regarding the above will be appreciated.
    Thank you!

  • Compatability with Java 5 EE Web Services

    I am new to Flash 8. I am trying to consume a web service
    that is running on my Java EE 5 (GlassFish) application server.
    First, can anyone comment on compatability of Flash 8 with web
    services not created with Cold Fusion.
    I am able to connect and execute a sample web (wsdl at
    http://www.flash-mx.com/mm/tips/tips.cfc?wsdl).
    This works for me.
    But when I try to call a very simple service that I have
    defined using Java JAX-WS, I don't see a response. I have attached
    action script code and xml for my wsdl.
    Most samples and tutorials that I have seen so far involve
    web services defined in ColdFusion. However, what I need to do in
    my Flash 8 document is directly access a web service defined and
    running in Jave EE 5 environment. Does Flash 8 support this type of
    interoperability? Can anyone provide some hints on how to get this
    working?
    Thanks

    Hi Tom,
    I've been running into the same problem, having JAX-WS
    generating the WSDL for me and Flash telling me that it cannot
    consume the corresponding Web Service.
    According to an article I found on the Developer Center site
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/flmxpro_webservices_03.html
    ), "Flash MX Professional 2004 does not support web services that
    use the import tag". I haven't been able to find any reference that
    indicates whether this has changed for Flash 8.
    I tried to contact the author of the article (who is no
    longer with Adobe), but so far she has ignored my attempts.
    Our problem thus may lie in the Flash's inability to process
    the import tag, although this has at least been part of the
    specification since WSDL 1.1.
    There has been no mentioning of a true workaround for this:
    the JAX-WS people don't offer an option to have the schema created
    inline - and IMHO rightfully so. They hold their end of the deal
    (generating a WSDL document that is valid according to the
    standard) for which they used the most flexible option (it allows
    for reuse of schemas between multiple WSDL definitions).
    The only thing I guess you can do is manually inline the
    separate XSD file(s) into the WSDL file and then feed it to
    Flash...
    It is up to the Flash developers to fix this problem and have
    their tool comply with the official W3C standards. It cannot be
    that such a widely used tool renders itself obsolete by
    disregarding interoperability with other widely used
    technologies...
    Sorry I cannot be of more help. Seems I'm stuck with the same
    problem for now as well...or maybe someone out there has better
    insights and helps us out?
    Grtz,
    Morris

  • J2EESDK-1_4_03 compatability with Java Pet Store

    I am trying to install Java Pet Store (WIndows XP Prof) and have j2se 1.4.11 and J2EESDK-1_4_03 also but from following the install instructions on Java Pet Store, I've to run cloudscape.bat and j2ee.bat from the %J2EE_HOME%\bin folder and they are not contained in there. In fact, they are not anywhere in the entire folder.
    Any suggestions. I could download J2EE-1.3 but I dont think its compatible with Windows XP Prof as when I go to run the file it keeps crashing on me!
    Please any suggestions. Thanks

    in case that you are new , i should suggest you the follwoing steps
    1- you should get J2EE tutorial from sun site
    http://java.sun.com/j2ee/1.4/download.html
    2-get Netbeans IDE 5 from the following link
    http://www.netbeans.info/downloads/download.php?type=5.0
    and now goto the Document home of Netbeans 5 , look under Tutorials for j2ee , I think it is right place for you to start.
    http://www.netbeans.org/kb/50/quickstart-j2ee.html
    Dealing with application servers and trying to deploy an application using deploy tools maybe kinda hard.

  • Help/Tutorial on Using Xpress with Java

    Hi forum:
    Can anyone point me to a tutorial or article on how to use Java method from Xpress (in NetBeans).
    I have created a java class in the 'Custom Java' folder for the IDM prodject in Netbeans - I am not terribly sure what next steps to take.

    Yes..The sun documentation does seem to be written in such a way to try and impress rather than to inform.
    But...
    XPRESS and Java, you only got one or two options.. as the previous guy said.. look at the Workflow, Forms and Views docu. There is a section called Java and Javascript expressions in the XPRESS language section.
    I guess the <invoke> is the most commonly used XPRESS command with java. You invoke a method of a class.
    The trick is figuring out how to introduce your new class into the IDM environment so that your XPRESS can find it.. and then call the method via the XPRESS invoke.
    Typically, you create a .jar of your custom classes, drop this .jar into $WSHOME/WEB-INF/lib and restart your App server.
    Do a search of the forums for "custom classes"
    I totally agree with you that SUN documentation is a perfect example of the 80/20 law.

  • Issue with Java applet

    I am having issues with an "inactive plug-in" message in Safari when I want to do something using a Java plug-in.  I searched the communities and sure enough, when I opened Java preferences the box next to "enable applet plug-in and Web Start applications" the box was unchecked so I checked it.   Unfortunately, when I go back into preferences, the box is once again unchecked.  I did find out that I had a Trojan in the user.jar file associated with java but despite taking care of that issue (which for all I know is not related), this issue persists.  All of my software is up to date and from what I gather uninstalling and reinstalling Java is not an option and should not need to be fone.  I'd very much appreciate any input!

    Repairing the permissions of a home folder in Lion is a complicated procedure. I don’t know of a simpler one that always works.
    Back up all data now. Before proceeding, you must be sure you can restore your system to its present state
    Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
    Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
    chmod -R -N ~
    The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. When a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) appears below what you entered, it’s done. You may see a few error messages about an “invalid argument” while the command is running. You can ignore those. If you get an error message with the words “Permission denied,” enter this:
    sudo !!
    You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up.
    Next, boot from your recovery partition by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
    When the recovery desktop appears, select Utilities ▹ Terminal from the menu bar.
    In the Terminal window, enter “resetpassword” (without the quotes) and press return. A Reset Password window opens. You’re not going to reset the password.
    Select your boot volume if not already selected.
    Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
    Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select  ▹ Restart from the menu bar.

  • Common jars for JWS and non-JWS Java Apps?

    Java Application 'A' is installed to file system - not JWS. App 'A' has some jars in common with Java Application 'B', which we would like to deploy using JWS. Do I have to:
    a) duplicate the common jars - once on the file system for App 'A' and once in the cache for App 'B'?
    b) keep the common jars only on the file system - but somehow make them visible to the JWS App 'B'?
    c) keep the common jars only in the JWS cache - but somehow make them visible to the non-JWS App 'A'?
    Please advise.

  • J2ee.jar causes problems with commons-logging.jar

    Hi All -
    (JDK 1.5.0_03, commons-logging 1.0.4, latest j2ee.jar, Eclipse 3.1.0 RC3 )
    I am developing some components that are to be used within j2ee containers and in standalone mode as well. When I run the software under Tomcat, it works correctly (Tomcat is not using the j2ee.jar that comes with Sun's App server obviously), but when I develop with the j2ee.jar file that comes with Sun's App server, I can't use commons-logging. For example, the code supplied below (a class with only this line in the main method, not using any j2ee features) will fail JUST by having j2ee.jar in my path, but if I take it out of the path, it works fine. I am also on the commons-logging mail list and no one there has been able to solve this issue for me. Again, if I deploy my application to Tomcat, I don't have this problem.
    The isolated line that is giving me the issue (and will give the issue even in a non j2ee application that just has this one line) is this:
    log= LogFactory.getLog(CommonsLoggingTest.class);
    When I run this without j2ee.jar in the path, it works fine. When I run it with j2ee.jar in the path, I get this:
    Exception in thread "main" org.apache.commons.logging.LogConfigurationException: org.apache.commons.logging.LogConfigurationException: java.lang.NullPointerException (Caused by java.lang.NullPointerException) (Caused by org.apache.commons.logging.LogConfigurationException: java.lang.NullPointerException (Caused by java.lang.NullPointerException))

         at org.apache.commons.logging.impl.LogFactoryImpl.getLogConstructor(LogFactoryImpl.java:374)
         ... 6 more
    Anyone have any ideas? Its really annoying to have to take this jar file out of my path every time I want to run a test. I could just start developing against other implementations of the j2ee classes I need (for example, Tomcat's jar files do not give this error) but for various reasons that is also undesirable.
    Thanks!
    Jason

    This problem does not arise with commons-logging 1.0.3.
    Any idea what is different in 1.0.4 that would introduce problems when Sun's j2ee.jar is in the path?

  • Java update and real player update not compatable with firefox 6 on Windows 7. Will they still function right?

    When i opened firefox today , there were updates but when it tried to update it came back that java and real player updates were not compatable with my firefox. I have Firefox 6. Will these 2 programs still work all right if they are not updated?
    I'm sorry I don't know what installed plugins I have. After putting in search it says I have Java 6 Standard Edition Update 26. I have Real Player(tm)(win32), Version 14.0.4 652. Hope that is enough information

    I just had a similar issue and I ended having to manually clean up the registry to get Java working again.
    I just got a new computer at work and it had Java 7 installed but it turns out an app we need to use at work doesn't work with Java 7, only Java 6.
    I uninstalled Java 7 and installed Java 6 but Firefox was not showing the Java plugin as installed. I tried all sorts of things, including uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox and none of it worked. Finally I again uninstalled Java and then I searched for "Java" in the registry and found TONS of entries still in there for Java, including for Java 7. I manually deleted all the entries (WARNING: this is extremely risky) rebooted, then installed Java 6 and now it's working fine.
    I really hate it when uninstallers leave stuff behind. It just makes a mess.

  • .jar file only works with 'java -jar'

    I have a .jar file that contains an installer. When I double click it nothing happens on my work computer (vista32). I have tried moving it to my home computer (vista64 and winXP) there it works fine when I double-click it.
    I have found a temporary solution for the work/vista32 machine. If I run it with:
    java -jar installer.jar
    it works. I have put this in the target of a shortcut to the file. But why do I need to do that manually when it works fine on my other machine by just double clicking the file?

    fedevaps wrote:
    Thing is that if I move this jar to another machine it works fine! The thing is that you are missing the point.
    It has nothing to do with the jar. Nor really java.
    Double clicking works because the OS (windows not java) understands what to do when you double click.
    If the OS (windows not java and definitely not the jar) does not understand then it doesn't work.
    So there are two independent parts.
    1. Create an executable jar.
    2. Create the correct association in windows.
    If you use the command line then you can absolutely verify that the first works. If it works then it means, absolutely (no other possibility) that if double clicking fails then the association, not the jar, is wrong.
    If it doesn't work then it means absolutely (no other possibility) that the jar, not the association, is wrong.

  • Can't find xml within jar with java webstart

    I use Jasper Reports,I am reading a xml file in my application.
    The code I use to read this xml file is:
    JasperCompileManager.compileReportToFile("xmlfile.xml","jasperfile.jasper");
    When I run this code in JBuilder it run fine.
    But when I compile the classes and this xml to my jar file,sign it and then try to run it in java Webstart.It tells me that it can not find the path.
    What is wrong?

    I don't know Jasper Reports, so I may be wrong here.
    A file inside a .jar file is not a file on the filesystem, and cannot be accessed with java.io file-related classes. You should use ClassLoader.getResource() to get an inputstream reading from it.

  • Access JAR File while running App with Java Web Start

    Hello guys,
    I want to delpoy my application so that I can run it when I click on the appropriate button in a web page.
    I have a Jar file for all the files that the app needs. No, not all of the files are included.
    Indeed, I use JAR files such jdom.jar or postgres...jar that I must use in within my application.
    How can I access these JAR files knowing that I can't point to files in a JAR file A from within a JAR file B, if the JAR file B contains the JAR file A?
    The main JAR file that I put on the web server can be seen as the JAR file B and the other JAR files must be stored somewhere for the java classes within the main JAR file to have access to them.
    I wonder whether there is another way to structure the project.
    Thanks.

    Hi Andrew.
    I have followed your suggestions and here is what my .jnlp file look like:
    <tt>
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <jnlp spec="1.0+" codebase="http://localhost:8080/koedops" href="beta.jnlp">
         <information>
              <title>KOEDOPS</title>
              <vendor>Pr. Fischer</vendor>
              <homepage href="http://localhost:8080/" />
              <description>Downloading koedops with Java Web Start</description>
         </information>
         <resources>
              <j2se version="1.6+" />
              <jar href="beta.jar" main="true"/>
              <jar href="jcalendar-1.3.3.jar" />
              <jar href="jdom.jar" />
              <jar href="postgresql-8.4-701.jdbc4.jar" />
         </resources>
         <application-desc main-class="general.Application" />
    </jnlp>
    </tt>
    The three other jar-files reside in the same directory as the .jnlp file and the beta.jar file on the tomcat server.
    When I launch the application though nothing happens upon the download. In contrast, if I change the main class to a class file that requires no extra library, it runs perfectly.
    I can't be sure whether the jar-files are successfully accessed.
    Regards.

    For all jars it is not acceptable I think.... the value as entry in the manifest.mf could be nice... :(
