Communication between NativeWindows with Air 2.0 and Actionscript 3

Greetings.
I'm starting to learn how to use Air and i've hit a wall.
My Application has the main window, and then i add a second window called rendererWindow.
The Application has a MovieClip (movieclipA), and then i create a Custom Class MovieClip which i then add to the rendererWindow.stage.
In the Custom Class MovieClip, i add an event( enter frame ) to check the properties of movieclipA.
I've tried everything i can remember but i always get an error.
i want to do the following:
customClassMovieclip.x = movieclipA.y (movieclipA is on the main window and customClassMovieclip is added to the rendererWindow.stage)
How to get properties from Objects in the main window accessed by objects in the other window and vice-versa?
Thanks.

    1) Can anyone explain the difference between Requirement with insufficient lead time and Requirement lead time constraint exception messages. Both seems to be similar for me with the compressed time.Also at what situations these exceptions are generated.
    2) what is minimum lead time required ,actual lead time and its calculation.

  • Error creating files. Compilation failed... when publishing iOS app with AIR 3.1 and Flash 11.5.1

    Hello, I'm running Windows 7. I'm using Flash 11.5.1 (that's CS5.5 updated once) and AIR 3.1 to make an iPhone app.
    I can export the app perfectly fine with either Ctrl+Enter or F12.
    I added all the required things with AIR for iOS settings, such as a p12 certificate and icon files.
    I then hit publish. After I hit publish, I got this error:
    Error creating files.
    Compilation failed...
    I tried dragging the window to see if there was anything hidden behind the elipses. What can I do to fix this problem?

    note sure if I'm much help other than to CONFIRM it is working for me by using the sdk WITHOUT the compiler. Check out adobe's little note: "Note : Flex users will need to download the original AIR SDK without the new compiler."
    I am using FB 4.7 with AIR 3.6 and seems to compile correctly for iOS.
    Maybe try reinstalling flash builder?
    I honestly don't know if the JRE has anything to do with it... I'm using 1.7 ....to see what JRE you're using, open the Java Control Panel (I right click my java orange icon and hit properties), select the Java tab, then hit "View..."

  • Crash on iOS with air 3.8 and higher

    Hello,
    We have an application we are deploying on PC & Mac using the FlashPlayer. We are porting the application on Android and iOS using Air Sdk. The application runs perfectly well in terms of performance. The game runs without any trouble til the end on Android but we are experiencing a crash on iOS.
    The crash seems to be related to a memory issue. We profiled the application with Instruments and when the crash appears, the application consumes 90Megs of memory. This is for an iPhone 3GS. On an iPad2, the game crashes similarly around 100Megs of Ram used. The crash log refers to a bad access exception and as we are receiving a lot of low memory warnings, we assume it comes from a malloc that fails.
    We obviously don't have any leaks left as the game runs well on all the other platforms. this is especially obvious as the game runs perfectly well on Android with the same sdk. We are rendering in gpu mode. We also tried to switch to cpu without any luck. The garbage collector seems to be triggering well as we can see the live bytes going down regularly depending on the clips being played.
    What we don't understand is that the crash log says we are using around 50000 rpages, which corresponds to a total memory of 200Megs (4k per page). This is weird as Instruments tells us the application consumes 90Megs of Ram when the crash occurs.
    The only big difference between the iOS and the other platforms is that the swf assets can't be unloaded. Therefore, once loaded, they stay in memory. Still, we tried to use as much movieclip as possible so we can stop them and remove them from the scene when they are not needed. This, to make sure the display data are released as often as possible.
    Do you have any kind of advice  to solve this issue ? This is becoming quite urgent as the game is finished and this bug prevents us from releasing the master build.
    Regards.

    Hi Chris,
    We found the crash on iOS7 devices. The game native display is 16/9 so depending on the devices screen resolution, we have to apply black stripes on top/bottom of the screen. To make sure nothing bites on those stripes we have a mask applied directly on Lib.current. If we get rid of this mask, no more crash on iOS7.
    The funniest thing is that without this mask, we also managed to reach act 6 on iOS6 and lower. Before that we couldn't get pass act 3. We are currently trying to remove all the masks we have to check if this solves our problem.
    Does this pop something in your mind ? Could these masks lead to memory leaks on iOS devices ?
    Thanks,
    Philippe

  • Transferring Data between Databases with Character Sets UTF08 and US7ASCII

    Hi,
    I am trying to transfer data from Oracle 10g (character set :UTF08) to Oracle 8i ( character set: US7ASCII). I have tried the transfer using the DBLinks and found that there is no way the data could be transferred from 10g to Oracle 8i.
    The last option available is to use staging database for transfer. The staging database would be Oracle 10g only but the character set would be US7ASCII. I am expecting that since the character set is US7ASCII, this would be able to get compatible with Oracle 8i (US7ASCII). Secondly, Transfer from 10g to staging 10g should also work, since staging 10g would support UTF08 character set.
    Kindly tell me if this option would work or if there is any other way around.
    Thanks

    You possibly have a fundamental problem,which is more important than any technical issues. If your UTF8 (Unicode) database stores non-english characters you will lose these characters when transferring.

  • Communicating between GPIB IEEE 488-1978 Instrument and LabView

    Hi,
    I'm currently trying to convert some old BBC BASIC Code into Labview 6.1.
    The BBC Computer has a GPIB Comms Unit attached to it to communicate with an old Marconi Instruments Microwave Counter 2440 using GPIB IEEE 488-1978.
    I am currently trying to get Labview to communicate with the Counter using GPIB 488 vis and a NI GPIB 488.2 Card but I'm not able to get anything out of the Counter or get MAX to even acknowledge the equipment exists.
    I was wondering if anyone out there knows if it is possible to communicate with a GPIB IEEE 488-1978 instrument in Labview 6.1 (or any other LV Versions) and if it is, does anyone have a driver for the instrument (Marconi Instruments Microwave Counter 2440 circa 19
    84) or having any helpful tips on the protocol for talking to a IEEE 488-1978 instrument.(I have some previous experience using VISA.)
    Many Thanks in Advance for your help.
    Sammy Mason

    I have done this with several instruments. It is best to get a hold of the manual for this instrument and see what commands it uses.
    MAX will not find this using the *IDN? query. In MAX, open the "Communicate With Instrument" window and type "ID?" (without the quotes), and hit query. You should get some basic information back from your instrument.
    I use GPIB Read and GPIB Write most often. Your instrument probably doesn't support much else. Maybe Clear and Poll.
    Be careful if you are using a newer, faster computer. There are Knowledge Bases and Discussion Forum topics that discuss the problems that can arise. To prevent these problems, I created my own Read and Write VIs. They just have a few milliseconds delay before the read or writ
    e takes place

  • Communication between servlets with data

    I have a servlet that creates a HTML table (a report) with some data. The data used is a vector of some java objects. Now, I want to add a hyperlink to each row in the table and when clicked, open a new browser window and show the record info in detail. I know how to add a hyperlink and open a new window, but I do not know how to pass the data associated with that (user-clicked) row to a new browser window. The Java object for that row contains 20 items and I do not want to pass them in name-value pair to another servlet. Is there a smarter way to do this ? Can someone please help me?
    This is a rough sketch of how I want to put a hyperlink in a row: The following method creates rows in my table:-
    private void loadTableData(Vector data, PrintWriter out, int col)
            throws IOException {
            MyRecordObject myRec = null;
            if (data != null) {
                Object[] myArray = null;
                myArray = new Object[data.size()];
                for (int k = 0; k < data.size(); k++) {
                    myArray[k] = data.get(k);
                Arrays.sort(myArray, new MySorterClass(col));
                for (int i = 0; i < myArray.length; i++) {
                    myRec = (MyRecordObject) myArray;
    out.println("<TR bgcolor= \"E5E5E5\"> ");
    // When the following hyper link
    //is clicked, pass "myRec" object to some servlet/JSP
    //and create a new HTML page with that data
    out.println("<TD> <a href=\"myDetailInfoServlet_with_data\" target =\"_blank\"> " + myRec.getName() + " </a> </TD>"); // <==
    out.println("<TD>" + myRec.getFathersName() + "</TD>");
    out.println("<TD>" + myRec.getMothersName() + "</TD>");
    out.println("<TD>" + myRec.getPetName() + "</TD>");
    out.println("<TD>" + myRec.getSpouseName() + "</TD>");
    out.println("</TR>");
    out.println("</TBODY>");
    out.println("</TABLE>");
    out.println("</div>");
    out.println("</html>");

    My approach would be to just pass along an id with the hyperlink. Something you use to identify which record you want to display. This can be the recordId, or maybe the index of it in the data vector if that is still available and hasn't changed.
    eg
    out.println("...<a href=\"myDetailInfoServlet_with_data\?id= " + i + " ...
    Also, I would recommend using JSPs for this sort of stuff.
    For sure, retrieve your data in a servlet, but then just put it into request/session variables, and forward to a JSP to display.
    using out.println for table code is a real pain in the butt.

  • Communication between the DNS/DHCP Manager and OES Server

    No communication between the DNS/DHCP Manager Console and OES server (status,start,stop)
    The screenshot shows the tab "DHCP (OES Linux)" in the DNS / DHCP Manager console
    in the bottom of the image it shows the state of the DHCP servers.
    allDHCP.JPG
    The dhcp service is started on all these servers
    You can see that the status is known only for four servers.
    The button "start/stop DHCP service" works fine on this servers and
    the dhcp service can be canceled and also restarted
    But the status of the "dhcp service" is not recognized for all the other DHCP servers
    and so we can not start or stop dhcp service on these servers.
    All servers were installed at different times (last three years) with OES11 and
    are upgraded to OES11SP2 with all patches.
    The server keto (DHCP_keto) is a new installation OES11SP2 few days ago.
    All OES servers were set up identically from me. LDAP, LUM, DMS, DHCP works fine.
    Which service on the OES server is responsible for
    communication (status indicator) between the DNS/DHCP Manager and the OES serve?
    How the status query is performed by the DNS/DHCP Manager?
    How can I test the communication to the server on the client (console)?
    Which configurationfiles I should be compare on the server?
    Thanks in advance

  • Data conversion for communication between Java and C/C++ program

    The real problem, i guess, is about data type conversion between Java and C programs. For instance, and int is supposed to be 4 bytes in Java, and also in C/C++. But, as far as I know, the size of and int in C depends on the processors architecture, so if it were a 64 bit arch., size of and int, double, etc. in C, would change. The real scenario would be a communication between a 32 bit machine (Java) and a 64 bit machine (C/C++).
    First of all, is this assumption correct?
    If so,
    how is it possible to deal with this problem in Java?
    Is there any way to know 'type length' automatically? or
    would it be necessary to modify the Java program to work with a C program in 32-bit or 64-bit arch?
    thx in advance

    cotton.m wrote:
    Yes you should develop the C part of the protocol first and then build from there.
    See http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5243547 for a previous discussion of this topic.
    I understand what you mean, also the topic you referenced. I will explain the situation a bit more. The protocol is already defined: (16 bits message size, 16 message id, 32 bit time, etc.); it is also defined in C (structures and so on). So it would be easy to write my Java code using the specified protocol in bytes, and C types wouldn't be necessary to be considered. But, let's say that the C code can't be modified, and I thought (and don't know yet if its correct), that size of C types CAN changed depending on architecture. So if size changes for C types (code is specified in short, int, etc, and not in bit format), it all would be a mess, if I don't implement something in my Java code.
    cotton.m wrote:
    I don't believe that 32 or 64 bit enters the equation here at all.Maybe 32 o 64 doesn't mind, but sparc or PC could take a point here. Communication would be between a sun solaris sparc and windows x86 PC. But if type size in C/C++ does not change, I wouldn't really have any problem then...
    The situation is not ideal, I know, but is what I have; and I think I could have problems if I run the C program in other machines; so I would have to try to solve it whithin my Java Program.
    I hope it is clear now what I need.
    thx

  • IPhone SDK : Communication between iPhone client and a remote server

    Hi,
    This is w.r.t iPhone Cocoa Touch native application.
    i need to populate my application 's data from a remote application server ( which in turn connects to the database) . I require some tips in the communication between client sitting on the iPhone and the remote application server. I am planning to proceed in XML transaction way.
    I referred the SeismicXML sample application provided by Apple. In this sample,client reads the physically existing xml file from @"http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/catalogs/eqs7day-M2.5.xml"; and the client parses the xml file and display the content on the table view.
    i have following 2 queries ,
    1. I do not want to read from a physically present file,i want the data to be transferred on the go.
    Means, request should be sent from the client to a application server and the server process returns the data in form of xml file ( but its not creating any physical xml file) .
    Basically i am looking for request - response concept.
    2. Can we call a java process(which returns xml data) running on a remote server from the cocoa touch client.? If not java process,what would be other best way...
    i am going through the Apple provided frameworks. Do any of the iPhone SDK frameworks support this request? If some one has any idea on the above mentioned queries, pls help me.
    any pointers will also be helpful.
    It might be too early to talk about these,but i have to take some business decision related on this.
    thanks in advance.

    You already know how to send a string via HTTP Post? And you know how to make XML into a string? Put the two together.

  • Very strange bug with AIR and native process (Windows 7, EXE)

    Hello to everyone!
    The situation is:
    I've made an AIR Application, inside of that is running a native process - EXE file.
    I'm using Flash CC as IDE and tried to use compile that as EXE with AIR 2.6 and 3.6 - results are same.
    So I've insert inside a checking if Native Process is supported or not and the Native process is supported all the time.
    When I've just installed the application and run it - the very first attempt is good - everything is working as a must: internal EXE is called by my Application with necessary parameters as many time as I'm need.
    However if I'll close the App and then will run it again - internal EXE is not starting at all, doesn't depends on number of attempts to re-start of the App.
    So only way is to uninstall, install it back and then you'll be one more session of successful internal EXE-requests, till the next re-start of the App.
    That's it.
    I've tried to "google it" but unsuccessful. Probably the bug is very rare.
    Help me please?
    Update: at compilation with Flash CC IDE it's working all the time with no any issues.
    Update-2: when I'm running installator-EXE, there is going a notification "Same version is installed, etc." and then selected "Run Now" - there is also working with no problems.

    Well, I've found the solution and answer by myself and here is it please:
    In case with same situation as above you need to add just one line in your AS3-code
    nativeProcessStartupInfo.workingDirectory = File.applicationDirectory;
    And you will be happy so much

  • 6/10/14 - Release - AIR 14 Runtime and SDK

    Today we're pleased to announce that the next version of AIR is available for immediate download.
    This update includes the following fixes and security updates:
    Security update details can be found here: Security Bulletin (APSB14-14)
    New Features:
    Anisotropic Filtering
    This new texture sampling filter can enhance the image quality of textures on surfaces that are at oblique viewing angles.  There are two ways to enable this feature:
    In AGAL, set one of the values – "anisotropic2x", "anisotropic4x", "anisotropic8x", or "anisotropic16x" to the filter option in the sampling instructions.
    Call Context3D::setSamplerStateAt with the 3rd parameter "filter" being one of the values defined in Context3DTextureFilter - "ANISOTROPIC2X", "ANISOTROPIC4X", "ANISOTROPIC8X", or "ANISOTROPIC16X"
    New Stage3D "Standard" Profile
    Developers can now request this high level profile when creating Context3D.  Three new features are available in this profile:
    Multiple render target allows to you to draw geometry to multiple outputs (up to 4) during one drawing
    Floating point texture allows you to create Texture, RectangleTexture and CubeTuxture with the RGBA16F folder.
    AGAL v2 contains these improvements:
    Increased register size
    Partial derivative instructions
    Fragment depth output
    Conditional forward jump
    Intel x86 Android Support
    As announced in our Flash Runtime blog, we're adding support for Intel x86 Android to AIR.  An ADT command line option (-arch) has been added to allow packaging apps with Android x86 support.  Please note that currently only captive runtime packaging is allowed for x86 architecture.  This means all APK targets (apk, apk-debug and apk-captive-runtime) will forcibly be packaged with captive runtime.  Feedback on this approach is encouraged.
    Sample APK packaging command for x86 devices:
    adt -package -target ( apk | apk-captive-runtime ) -arch x86 -storetype pkcs12 -keystore abc.p12 HelloWorld.apk HelloWorld-app.xml HelloWorld.swf
    adt -package -target apk-debug -arch x86 -storetype pkcs12 -keystore abc.p12 HelloWorld.apk HelloWorld-app.xml HelloWorld.swf
    Note that -arch is optional. If not specified, armv7 is assumed.
    Packaging for x86 architecture in Flash Builder:
    Open the debug/run configurations of the project in Flash Builder and click on "Customize launch.." button. Add a new parameter "-arch" with value "x86" and place it before "-storetype". Click "OK" to apply changes.
    Except for RTMPE and DRM, all other features and capabilities are completely functional and supported. Native extensions written for x86 platforms can also be packaged and used by an app for x86 devices. To support this, a new ANE platform 'Android-x86' is now available.
    The following example highlights the usage of the same -
    <extension xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/extension/14.0>
    <id>com.adobe.sample.ane</id>
    <versionNumber>1.0</versionNumber>
    <platforms>
    <platform name="Android-ARM">
    <applicationDeployment>
    <nativeLibrary>sample.jar</nativeLibrary>
    <initializer>com.example.ane.Extension</initializer>
    <finalizer>com.example.ane.Extension</finalizer>
    </applicationDeployment>
    </platform>
    <platform name="Android-x86">
    <applicationDeployment>
    <nativeLibrary>sample.jar</nativeLibrary>
    <initializer>com.example.ane.Extension</initializer>
    <finalizer>com.example.ane.Extension</finalizer>
    </applicationDeployment>
    </platform>
    </platforms>
    </extension>
    New packaging command for ANE:
    adt -package -target ane Sample.ane extension.xml -swc Sample.swc -platform Android-ARM -C Android-ARM/ . -platform Android-x86 -C Android-x86/ .
    Improved Packaging Engine - iOS
    Based on the feedback received from the developer community, tons of improvements and bug fixes have been made in the new packaging engine for iOS.  We encourage developers to report issues to http://bugbase.adobe.com, to ensure that we are able to continue to improve the packager in future releases.
    To enable this feature, please use "-useLegacyAOT no" in the ADT command, before the signing options.  As of now, this feature is not available within Flash Pro but it can still be used with Flash builder by adding the parameter -useLegacyAOT under the "Customize launch" option.
    Here is an example ADT command for compiling an applications using “-useLegacyAOT no":
    adt -package -target ( ipa-test | ipa-debug | ipa-app-store | ipa-ad-hoc) -useLegacyAOT no -provisioning-profile -keystore -storetype pkcs12 -storepass xxxx HelloWorld.ipa Helloworld-app.xml HelloWorld.swf

    AIR Gamepad
    AIR Gamepad feature enables the app developers to provide a second screen on Android mobile devices for the Flash based browser games. AIR Gamepad API enables Flash based browser apps to connect to a paired Android device running the AIR Runtime app and therefore allowing the Android devices to be used as game controllers or second-screen interfaces.
    Key functionality of this feature:
    Gesture eventsTouch events

  • 2/12/2015 - Release - AIR 16 Runtime and SDK

    Today we're pleased to announce that the next version of AIR is available for immediate download.  In addition to important bug and security fixes AIR 16 now contains support for iOS 64-bit applications along with significant Stage3D improvements!
    Please note that in today's release, only the Windows shared runtime was updated.  The Mac version remains at 16.0.0.245.
    Below are some of the key features and benefits of AIR 16.  Please see our release notes for full details.
    New Features:
    iOS 64-bit Support
    As many of you are aware, Apple has recently changed their iOS requirements to enforce 64-bit compatibility.  We’re pleased to announce that the AIR 16 SDK can now be used to generate universal IPA binaries, which will run on both 32bit and 64bit iOS devices.  Going forward, every IPA generated using AIR SDK 16 and above will be a universal binary and there is no change required in the packaging commands for this support.
    Please note that support for creating universal IPA binaries will only be available in the new compiler.  The legacy compiler is not (and will not be) compatible with iOS 64-bit.  Because of this, it will be removed with version 16 of the AIR SDK.  To ensure that Adobe as well as third party tools are able to work with this AIR SDK, the -useLegacyAOT option will continue to exist, but will be internally mapped to the new compiler.
    With this change, any ANE that gets packaged in the application should contain the universal native libraries. Failing to do so will result in “Apple App Store allows only universal applications. <binary name> is not a universal binary. Please change build settings in Xcode project to "Standard Architecture" to create universal library/framework” error while packaging the ipa.
    To learn more about the improved packaging engine, please read Faster Compiling with AIR for iOS.
    If you encounter packaging or runtime issues, please report them to us over at http://bugbase.adobe.com. Please provide detailed steps to reproduce along with sample projects. If you'd like to keep your code private, please feel free to email attachments along with your bug number to [email protected].
    Stage3D Wireframe Mode Support
    To help designers and developers create robust and efficient 3D content, we've added Wireframe support into AIR desktop. This option can be changed by setting Context3D's setFillMode() to "wireframe" or "solid".
    Stage3D - Standard Constrained Profile
    In version 14 of the Runtime we added the new Standard profile to desktop systems.  In Version 15 we expanded that to mobile devices in AIR.  In Flash Player 16 we've added a new Standard Constrained profile.  Like Baseline Constrained, Standard Constrained targets older and lower powered GPUs on both desktop and mobile devices.  While Standard profile reached ~21% of iOS devices, Standard Constrained can now reach more than 85%.  Developers can access this by using the new STANDARD_CONSTRAINED constant in Context3DProfile.  The chart below breaks down the differences between the different profiles that are available.
    Fixed Issues:
    [iOS8, iPad] Application hangs on returning back to stage after importing an image from the gallery on an iPad. (3916940)
    [iOS] App screen does not render properly when a device is rotated to an upside down position. (3916521)
    [iOS] Push notification is not working on iOS devices as notification permission pop ups did not appear on app launch. (3928304)
    [iOS64] LC_VERSION_MIN_IPHONEOS is set incorrectly when ANE of higher/lower minOSversion is used.
    Packaging fails with error "Unable to find llvm JNI lib in", when an application is packaged with -useLegacyAOT yes option.
    Graphical glitches with bitmap smoothing and scaling.( 3915192)
    Known Issues:
    Application UI items are not clickable after changing application rotation to landscape to portrait. (3924470)
    Screen does not render properly when enter foreground from background. (3919996)

    Sometimes the release version has a later build number than the last beta we received, which in a way can be even worse than if the build is the same. The thing that has caused some confusion is that a few posts here have been answered with "we've fixed that and it will be in the next build", and the next build turned out to be the same as the previous build.
    So, I think the truth is that those things are fixed in the next build that appears on labs, and the release one doesn't count as a new beta build. I don't know when the next labs build will be.
