Communication PHP with Flash
Hi,
Is it possible :
- from PHP page to pass parameters to Flash (SWF) file ?
- from Flash (SWF) file to retrieve parameter to PHP page ?
i'm asking that because i would like to do the following
things :
- in my PHP page, user will select interface language and
automatically
the flash should turn all text strings (located inside the
flash) into
selected language.
- Flash animation should be able to retrieve variable value
from
PHP/HTML in order to use them like : read/save from/to
database postgresql.
thanks a lot,
A.
Hi Alain,
It most certainly is. This ability has been around for quite
a while and
Flash/PHP work well together. I happen to specialize in
Flash/PHP/MySQL
integration (though I'm faimiliar with PostGRE as well). It's
not complex or
difficult but a bit lengthy for the forum. Drop me a line and
I can give
you more concrete exampled: patrick (AT) baynewmedia (DOT)

Using PHP with Flash (contact form)
I am trying to get a contact form on a flash site to work and
for some reason the PHP isn't forwarding the message to my email.
Below is the flash code I have used as well as the document I have
saved as contact.php. Thank you so much for the help. This is the
last thing I need to complete for the site and I just can't seem to
get it right. Thanks.
Flash Code For the Submit Button:
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
if (this.hitTest(_root._xmouse, _root._ymouse, true)) {
if (this._currentframe<this._totalframes) {
this.nextFrame();
} else {
if (this._currentframe>1) {
this.prevFrame();
on (release) {
this._parent.getURL ("contact.php","_blank","GET");
this._parent.name = "Your Name:";
this._parent.email = "Your Email:";
this._parent.phone = "Your Phone Number:";
this._parent.text4 = "e-mail:";
this._parent.message = "Your Message:";
Here is what I have for Contact.php:
<?php
$your_name = $_GET['name'];
$your_email = $_GET['email'];
$your_phone = $_GET['phone'];
$your_message = $_GET['message'];
$recipient_email = "[email protected]";
$subject = "from " . $your_email;
$headers = "From: " . $your_name . "<" . $your_email .
">\n";
$headers .= 'Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1';
$content = "<html><head><title>Contact
letter</title></head><body><br>";
$content .= "Name: <b>" . $your_name .
"</b><br>";
$content .= "E-mail: <b>" . $your_email .
"</b><br><hr><br>";
$content .= "Phone: <b>" . $your_phone .
"</b><br>";
$content .= $your_message;
$content .= "<br></body></html>";
mail($recipient,$subject,$content,$headers);
?>

<script>resizeTo(300, 300)</script>well...that's true..I wanted "name" to be cleared when
clicked...this version I found doesn't clear "name" when clicked,
but it needs selected and erased manually...anyway..it's better
then nothing...
Reason I want this is because I'm using a design that is not
giving me much space and I have to trick the low space with this
option.
If you want I can send you the fla to get a better

So, using PHP with Flash...
Hi everyone, appologies in advance if this isn't the correct
forum.
I'm trying to find a way to pass dynamically generated text
for a hyperlink to a SWF that's embedded in my PHP page. I have the
PHP system working as I want it with HTML links but want to add
some animation to a the part of the page with the links in. I'm
having trouble finding a way to pass the info to the SWF - would
the only way be to have the PHP write out to a txt/xml file and
have the SWF read it in?
Thanks to anyone who can help.Look the gotoandlearn.com for a tutorial that might agree
with what you are attempting. -
Using databases with Flash and PHP
Hi, everyone!
I`m a PHP newbie. I just learned PHP so that I can use
databases with Flash.
I`ve got a .php script that contains html that loads up my
.swf file. The .swf file is the core of my site. What I want to
know is if I can call some PHP functions (that I have wrote in the
.php script) from within the .swf file... This functions would
perform the reading and updating of my database.
The only way I know of to modify a database from Flash is
using the POST and GET methods. But that opens up a new browser
window in which the PHP script is called. And that only handles
writing in the database. So, what if I just want to read from the
database some values and insert them into a TextField in Flash? How
do I do that?
Thanks! Ardy1. Goggle "Flash and mySQL" and you'll get a listing of alot
tutorials
2. I'm also just learning. Here's a great URL to start:
Building with Flash and MySQL
That's right, a Flash-based blog — it sounds a little
loony, but this blog pulls content from a MySQL database and feeds
it into the dynamic Flash frontend ...

This is a medical records system, cloud based. I use Firefox to get into the system, but any browser would work. Other than this problem, Firefox works fine (better than IE, in my opinion).
Patient demographics include their email, which is hyperlinked and should go right to Outlook (my default email program). This works in IE, but nothing happens on the click when using Firefox as the browser.
I queried Practice Fusion, which replied: In regards to your previous question about the email hyperlink in the patient information, it looks this is not something that can be fixed on our end right now. It is the web browsers' responsibility to handle these types of links, and there seems to be something lost in the communication between the Flash engine and the browser. I apologize for any inconvenience.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.See if this helps you:

Flash Satay: communication with Flash
Hello everyone!
I would want to know if it is possible to communicate with a
Flash Object
wrote with "Flash Satay Method" (IE and Firefox).
Ex:
<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="550"
height="400"
id="flash_conn" name="flash_conn" data="flash_conn.swf">
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
<param name="movie" value="flash_conn.swf" />
<param name="quality" value="high" />
<param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff" />
</object>
MaxHello there,
I have also used the SATAY method of embedding into a
webpage..
As Jeckyl has stated, this method is poor, however it may
validate with w3c, it is not a practical method, one of the main
reasons for this is that the movie is not streamed due to the way
the object class is used.
Instead the whole object must be loaded before run.. Im not
sure if the same case is true in IE, but i definately found this
with FF.
I have returned to using the standard flash object method, i
find this version below works best with IE and FF, the object and
embed tags must both be included as FF and IE read the tags
differently..
<object classid="clsid:
d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0"
width="700" height="500" id="flash">
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
<param name="movie" value="flash.swf" />
<param name="loop" value="false" />
<param name="menu" value="false" />
<param name="quality" value="best" />
<param name="wmode" value="transparent" />
<param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff" />
<embed src="flash.swf" loop="false" menu="false"
quality="best" wmode="transparent" bgcolor="#ffffff" width="700"
height="500" name="flash" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="
http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"
/>
</object>
( note: The above example is used in a XHTML 1.1 document,
using Flash 8.
Also, in the first property of the object class 'classid' i
have inserted a space between the "clsid: d27.." as this was
displaying a smiley face on the forum

Splash Screen for Android with Flash CS5.5
How can I make a SplashScreen with Flash CS5.5 or just with AIR/AS3 codes. I need it while the App/Game is loading...
I know that it's possible with Flex 4.5 as:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<s:ViewNavigatorApplication xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
firstView="views.HomeView"
splashScreenImage="@Embed('splashscreen.png')" />
http://workflowflash.com/98437/air-for-android-splash-screen-with-flex-4-5.php
But I want to do it without Flex. So can I ?
Thank youi'm not sure if this is necessary anymore, but i took the advise of another user here
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/764981
the key difference is, the user stated a preloading swf needed to embed the image in order to display before the whole apk is loaded.
Seems to be working for me anyway -

Could anyone in the community assist me as to how to solve the problem? The script has no errors and last time I checked all the applicable files (the .xml file, the .jpg files, the .swf and the .fla file) are in my Documents folder on the Mac.
Looking forward to your suggestions!Check the folder structure
Flash is not able to get some file thats why the IO Error.
trace the url path just before u load the file and u will be abel to find whether that file is in specified folder or not.

Orrrr it's because the flash plugin uses OSS.
run `aoss firefox` and be happy.
OSS does still work or at least the alsa backwards compatibility layer that emulates the old interfaces, right? did i miss anything?
for newer versions of flash (like version 9) simply install firefox in wine and let it install the plugin. that usually works great! -
Hi
Does anybody knows how to send a HTML mail with flash to a
person?
grtz
TomHi!
You need to use a serverside script like php or asp. I have a
html string in
the swf which I send as LoadVars.send() to the server.
Of cource the server has to be configured correctly to
support the mail
function.

Perl cgi upload stopped working with Flash 10
First let me just say that PHP is not an option in my environment. Its just not allowed to be used.
I have some really basic Perl upload scripts that work find with flash 9 and below. However since flash 10 these no longer work. I tried using FileRefernce and while I can get all my values as defined by the
$QUERY_VALS_GV->param statement in Perl, I can not get the file handle $QUERY_VALS_GV->upload("fileName"); Any Ideas ?
Snippet
use CGI;
use CGI qw(:standard);
use CGI::Carp qw/fatalsToBrowser/;
# Values from Flex #
print header();
our $QUERY_VALS_GV = new CGI
our $UPLOAD_FILE_NM_GV = "";
our $DOC_TYPE_IP = $QUERY_VALS_GV->param("docType");
our $USER_NAME_IP = $QUERY_VALS_GV->param("userName");
our $WR_ID_IP = $QUERY_VALS_GV->param("wrId");
our $WR_TYPE_CD_IP = $QUERY_VALS_GV->param("wrTypeCd");
our $FILE_NM_IP = $QUERY_VALS_GV->param("fileName");
our $ACTION_IP = $QUERY_VALS_GV->param("fileAction");our $UPLOAD_FHDL_IP = $QUERY_VALS_GV->upload("fileName");The resolution was easy. Use the default value for Filedata passed from filereference
our $UPLOAD_FHDL_IP = $QUERY_VALS_GV->upload("Filedata"); -
Setting up a New Site and Having Issues with Flash SWF's
Hello. I just set up a new site definition, with a testiing server using MAMP Pro, and everything seems to be functioning properly, except that my swf's are not showing up when you publish to a browser from dreamweaver, instead you get the place holder message to upgrade to the newest version of flashplayer... besides the fact that my computers flash player is up to date. At this point in time my two other websites swf components work just fine when I publish out of dreamweaver.
I'd also like to mention that the Live View works perfectly and is displayinig the swf's as they should be.
Thanks!I copied the associated scripts over to the site folder on the testing server and I'm getting the same results. I'm sure this is something that is really simple. Pictures hazy with flash on. (Faulty back cover?)
Hi, I recently bought an n900 and I'm having a problem with the camera.
With flash on the pictures I take are hazy on one side. Now the funny part is if I take the WHOLE back cover off the picture (same conditions and with flash) comes out looking rather normal.
Here is a thread on maemo.org with people having the same issue.
Also it seems like not everyone has the issue....
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=36675&highlight=pictures+hazy
If you look on page 3 of the thread someone shows an example with his christmas tree. He got a new phone and on page 4 he takes the same picture on his new phone with flash and with cover on and the problem is gone....
Obviously its not software related because taking the back cover off fixes the problem.
Is it a faulty back cover? Faulty camera cover? Assembled wrong?
Should I get my phone replaced no knowing for sure if it will even fix the problem? Does Nokia know about this issue?
Not sure what to do, any help would be appreciated.
Thank youFr4nkc45tl3 wrote:
well thats what the guys in the maemo thread were thinking also. It's actually on the right side when you are viewing the picture on the phone.

How to connect sql database with Flash
Dear Friends,
Iam working on a quessinarie (assesment) for elearning software. i want to connect sql database with flash and save my records in back end like add, delete, modification of student result and details.
Kindly help me to connect the sql database. or dot net server. I know how to connect PHP and mysql. But my client dont want php. only sql database and do the add, del, modificaiton.
Thanks in advance,
Syed Abdul Rahimunfortunately no, i do not know ASP well enough to give any code advice, other than the basic concept: make a request on a server-side script (such as ASP) via URLLoader - the script receives variable values (if required), runs the DB queries you wish to invoke, and 'returns' the results - pick them up in the URLVariables class via the event handler in Flash and assign them to local properties if needed, etc.
there are quite a few threads that you could find more specific information on the ASP side, here and elsewhere around the net. -

SWC format is incompatible with the Flash IDE.
Also, the default fl.. components in the Flash IDE are incompatible with
Flex components.
You should be able to load a Flex SWF into a Flash SWF as long as you aren't
using fl.. components in the Flash SWF. If the Flex SWF overlays things
in your Flash SWF then it might block interaction, but otherwise it
shouldn't. I don't think the statement you quoted is true for all
configurations.
But loading a Flex SWF into a Flash SWF isn't going to help you use those
Flex components from your Flash IDE. Try Flash Builder 4 to build out the
Flex portion of your application. I haven't tried it myself, but it I think
it is supposed to have better integration with Flash.
