Communications with .SOL files

I have created a disgusting little hack. W needed to talk to
the serial port from within Flash. We can't use Hernando Barragan's
socket server because our clients' IT people might complain about
having to work around it in their firewall. Frankly, I can't blame
them--who would want to compromise their own defenses, even given
additional functionality?
Anyway, I noticed the Shared Object, and thought Aha!
Finally, a way for me to talk to the computer without having to use
the network! The idea was that a client program would be watching
the file for changes, and would communicate with my Flash code via
this file. A shared medium usable by multiple parties is a means of
communication, so it should work. Well, I write up a quick and
dirty protocol, implement it on both sides, and test my code.
Everything can read the file, detect changes; it works nicely.
I go to the next level, which is figuring out when both
parties are willing to exchange information. This, too, works well,
and after some minor debugging tweaks, it's good to go.
Finally, I get things to the point where I can change the
contents of a variable in the shared object file, and the local
program will detect the change and send the contents of that
variable to the serial port. The trouble is that after I write to
the serial port, the Flash player apparently can't change the
contents of the shared object file. I've tried flush()ing the
shared object, I've tried deleting it and recreating it. I'm out of
ideas.
I realize that the above was enormously general, but would
anyone care to speculate on what might be going wrong?
Many thanks,
Bob Robertson

Success! It turns out that any modifications made to the SOL
file by an external program aren't reflected in the sharedObject
instance at all until the flash player restarts. If a new SOL file
is created while the flash player is open, and the flash player
then accesses a sharedObject with that name [i.e.
sharedObject.getLocal("newFile")] its values are detected as null.
I conclude that my earlier theory was correct: the flash
player, upon startup, looks in the appropriate directory for its
shared objects
once and loads their contents into its memory. Any changes
then made to the data in the shared object are not written until
that instance of the flash player closes, or unless the code calls
sharedObject.flush(). Therefore, a sharedObject is a one-way
communications channel: it can change the contents of the
publicly-accessible file at will, thereby allowing communications
to be sent to external programs. External programs, however, cannot
reply.
I did investigate cookies, and accessing them via javascript
and ExternalInterface or getURL("javascript: foo()"). It turns out
that browsers do the same thing with cookies that the flash player
does with shared objects: it writes changes to them, but doesn't
load them from a file to access their contents. Therefore, cookies
are also a one-way medium. They are, furthermore, less desirable
than shared objects, because a) they are placed in OS- and
browser-dependent locations, b) the file format is
browser-dependent.
My protocol spec is below, just on the offchance that someone
may find it useful:
Field List
toggle (Boolean)
nFromFlash (string, 1 char)
bufferFromFlash (string, “0”-suffix-padded to 32
chars)
To Send to Serial
Flash pads string to be sent with “0” to 32
bytes, writes string to field.
Use hex representation of numbers, for clarity:
“00” for 0, “10” for 16, etc, for
bufferFromFlash and nBytes
Flash sets value of nFromFlash (in hex)
Flash inverts value of toggle.
Flash flush()es the shared object to immediately write to
file.
Receiving from Flash
On start, record value of toggle in variable external to
parser storage.
On file change, compare current value of toggle with old
value of toggle. If different, send first nFromFlash characters of
bufferFromFlash to serial port.

  • HT201210 I have done all of the things on this list, to include editing the hosts file with no the same error each time (3194).  I am trying to restore my iphone 4 ios 6 to get it unlocked.  Diagnostics show no issue communicating with apple. Help.

I am trying to restore my iphone 4 ios 6 to acheive unlock.  hit restore and it unloads software, confirms with apple then displays the 3194 error.  I have turned off my virus scanner, unplugged all usb except for iphone, edited the hosts file and run diagnostics which showes communication with apple is fine.  What do I need to do to get my ipone to restore?

There is nothing wrong with the OS update.
    Delete ALL your email accounts.
    Restart Playbook
Put the accounts back and ensure they are all set with PUSH ON.  Manual (push off) will burn battery.
Similarly delete your wifi connections and add back when required.
Turn off wifi is not connected to wifi.
Any "hunting for connection" in email or wifi will burn up battery.

  • Issue with Deduplicated files and Mac OSX 10.9.2

Running a Windows 2012 R2 DFS with Deduplication enabled on the storage drives.  Both Macs and PCs regularly interact with the system with no issues.
However with Apple's rollout of 10.9.2 SMB2 'fix' users are no longer able to correctly interact with any files on the file server with the "SparseFile" attribute, which appears to be from the deduplication of the file.
When the Macs attempted to download a "sparsed" file they get an error along the lines of "you do not have permissions to copy this file".  This is annoying enough, but the biggest head ache is when a user tries to
copy a folder that has sparced files in it, the folder and its files are seemingly copied but the Mac does not copy the sparced files... and give no indication to the user that it ran into an error... Finder just closes like
    the operation was completely successful.
Even more annoyingly the user can open the file directly from the server, and work on the file with seemingly no issues, but when they save the file the changes are often not saved, and the user gets NO feedback from the application or OS.
It seems the Macs are seeing the file as having a NULL file size and they skip the file when they download it.  This was not the case in 10.9.1 or any other version of any other OS we have tested.  We have entered this as a bug to Apple
and hope they will fix it... mostly just posting this for the next admin who is pulling his hair out trying to figure this out.
For a work around you can force the Apple 10.9.2 system to use SMB1 by using the CIFS protocol to connect to the server instead of normal SMB... which is not ideal but will work for now.

  • "The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed..."

I realize my explanation of my problem is long-winded, so if you want a shortened version, here it is:
I've followed all the instructions trying nearly everything, and no matter what I do, iTunes gives me the error saying: "The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes to install the iPod's software." My G5 iPod (60GB) works on two other computers (both without any music on them), so I assume there something wrong with my computer and not the iPod itself.
Now for the long-winded story of the last eight hours of my life...
I just got the Generation-5 iPod Video (60GB) a today and I'm having problems already. I followed the instructions and installed the iPod software and then plugged in my iPod (iTunes has been on my computer for a while now). I was expecting iTunes to open after plugging in the iPod, but my device manager only detected and installed "a new device". I manually opened iTunes and got an error saying: "The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes to install the iPod's software."
After re-installing the iPod software and iTunes, and restarting my computer countless times, I came looking for help here. I found this page, which seemed to outline my problem exactly. My computer recognizes the iPod as a drive, but iTunes won't have anything to do with it. I have all the symptoms outlined in the heading, so I hoped to solve my problem there. I followed the instructions step-by-step, and after the final restart, I open iTunes to get the same exact error message.
I decided to determine whether there was a problem with my iPod or if it was my computer. I plugged my iPod into my uncles's powerbook, and got to the point where I can name and configure my iPod. I expected it to work flawlessly on a Mac (which it did) but there is no way for me to continue using a Mac (after tomorrow) for my iPod. This formatted the iPod for a Mac, so I went to another (different from the original) Windows computer, clean of any iTunes and iPod software, and followed the instructions exactly as they're supposed to be followed. After the installations, I plugged in my iPod, and although iTunes didn't open, I was able to format back to Windows and name my iPod (a step in the right direction). I should note that my (anti-iPod) computer is a Windows XP Pro, and the working one is Windows XP Home Edition. This was all well and good, until I remembered there was no music on this computer. So my iPod is completely working there, but there isn't anything I can do with it.
Next, I came back here and browsed around the discussion boards, hoping to find somebody with a similar problem to mine. There seems to be alot of errors concerning iTunes not recognizing the iPod, but none of the solutions I tried worked for me, including changing the drive letter. I get the "iPod Service Error" while trying to restore to factory settings through iPod updater.
Of course, I could transfer all 32GB of music from one computer to another, but the second (working) computer isn't mine and I won't have access to it in a couple months. It would be most convenient if I could get my iPod working on my own computer. Any help would be appreciated, especially from somebody who has solved this problem or know how to solve this problem.
    P.S.
Here are some other minor details that my be important, but I didn't feel they were worth including.
    - My brother has his iPod mini set up on my computer, under a different user login. He gets the same error once in a while, but re-installing iTunes always solves the problem for him. I had him try solving my problem his way, but nothing worked for him either.
    - My computer is an AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+, 512MB RAM with Windows XP Pro SP2 installed. My internal hard drive is partitioned, using the letters C, D and H (C being my system files, D used for recovery files and H for my applications and games). My E drive is used as a DVD/CD-ROM Drive, and drives F and G are reserved for virtual drives (none have been running during this entire ordeal). My external hard drive uses the letter I, and I manually set my iPod to use the letter J (I've never used 'J' for anything else before).
    - Yes, I have downloaded and installed the latest versions of iTunes and the iPod software.
    - I'm assuming there is a problem with my computer and not my iPod, since it worked on both other computers I tried. I'm hoping it's as simple as changing a registry file or cleaning out (yet another) temp directory.

Solution to "Software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed"!
I battled this same problem for about 5 hours. Going through re-installations, the "5 R's", all these discussion boards. Nothing worked.
The problem is that iPodService was repeatedly crashing after minute or so. You can verify this by hitting Ctrl-Alt-Delete and noting that iPodService is missing from the process list (sort by image name), or by right-clicking on My Computer and selecting "Manage", then going to Services and checking out the IPodService service - if it gives you the option to "Start", then it's not running.
    Here is what worked.
    1. De-install iTunes and iPod (if you have the updater installed) completely by going to Start --> Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs. Also delete the C:\Program Files\iTunes and c:\Progam Files\iPod\bin directories. (Don't worry, this doesn't affect your saved music files.)
    2. Log in as an Administrator
    3. Go into the registry (note this is dangerous - you should be careful) and remove the iPod entries that the uninstaller misses.
3.1 Go to Start menu --> Run.
    3.2 Type in "regedit".
    3.3 Go to HKEYCLASSESROOT --> IPodService.iPodManager.
There are two keys here, iPodManager and iPodManager.1. In my case, I did not have permission to view either of these. I think this is the root cause of the problem. I think the installer can't properly update these because it doesn't have permission. So you need to change the permissions:
    3.4 Right-click on IPodService.IPodManager
3.4.1 Select "Permissions..." A warning will appear saying you don't have permission, but that you can change permissions.
3.4.2 On the window that launches, click on "Advanced..."
3.4.3 Click on the "Owner" tab.
3.4.4 Select a valid account (the one you're logged in under) under "Change Owner To".
    3.4.5 Hit "OK".
3.4.6 Back on the main Permissions window, hit Add and add the same account as a valid user.
3.4.6.1 Where it says "Enter the object names to select", type in the account name, e.g. "Smith".
3.4.7 Click on the "Allow" checkboxes for "Full Control" and "Read".
    3.4.8 Hit "OK".
3.5 Repeat procedure for the "iPodManager.1" key.
3.6 Now right-click and delete both of these keys.
I think that's all that's required, but I also searched through the registry and deleted the following keys.
    4. Other keys I deleted:
    4.1 HKEYCLASSESROOT --> IPodManager.IPodManagerUI.1
4.2 HKEYLOCALMACHINE --> SOFTWARE --> Apple Computer Inc. --> iPod
I think that's all I deleted, but I'm not positive. I seached for instances of "ipod" using the Find... and Find Next functions under the Edit menu.
    5. Exit out of the registry editor.
    6. Re-install iTunes. I re-installed iTunes and reconnected the iPod, and everything worked.
I want to repeat that editing the registry can completely mess up your computer if you modify the wrong things, so only do this if you're comfortable, and be extremely careful.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • SOLUTION to "Software required for communicating with the iPod is not insta

Folks, I can not take credit for this.....you should send your checks to MarkinMadison. I've included his post in it's entirety. For me, this was the Holy Grail !!
My only comment is make sure when you are in the registry that you hit the "apply" button to change and add things.
This probably won't solve everyone's problem but it clearly solved mine (and I tried all other "solutions"), as well as Mark's.
Apple: please find out who MarkinMadison is and either cut him a big check or offer him free Ipods for life.

I have also posted the same question, earlier today. I purchased two for my children and cannot get the iPod to communicate with the computer. I have the iTunes software on my system, but during the installation process I cannot click the NEXT button, once I plug the iPod cable in. The computer does not detect it. I have tried all 6 USB 2.0 ports. I even removed the Dell Jukebox and MusicMatch programs. I am not a computer savvy person - just a mom who wants to give these to my children for Christmas. This is the first "chat" site I have even registered on. I am so very frustrated. Hopefully, this can be resolved.

  • Error in communicating with DCR server (Operations Manager 8.5)

    Hi,
I just installed Operations Manager 8.5 on a new server. And, although I'm able to login to the OM, I'm unable to add any devices to the DCR. When attempting to add the device the following error is returned:
"Error in communicating with DCR Server
DCR Server may be down. Please start DCR server and then refresh the page. "
The same error is returned when an attempt is made toaccess the screen to change the mode (standalone/master/slave.) However, according to pdshow output DCRServer is up and running:
    Process= DCRServer
    State  = Running normally
    Pid    = 9220
    RC     = 0
    Signo  = 0
    Start  = 7/29/2011 2:46:33 PM
    Stop   = Not applicable
    Core   = Not applicable
Info   = DCRServer is up and running
I've browsed the site and tried all suggestions for LMS since I didn't see any for OM. No success.
    Any/all suggestions are much appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Bart

It appears the answer is rather simple. According to a trusted source who works for a Cisco training partner, one must wait before even attempting a login into OM.
Apparently,  it takes about 25 to 30 minutes for all the services to start. Any attempt to login to the OM may corrupt the  database. This is based on CiscoWorks.  When command "net stop crmdmgtd" is issued it takes about 5 minutes to stop the service and a confirmaiton that the service was stopped is displayed. However, when starting the service with "net start crmdmgtd"  there is no confirmation that it started successfully. One may look into ":\ program Files\CSCOpx\objects\dmgt\ready" directory for a _lock file." As long as the lock file is present one shouldn't  use the browser to login. However, I was advised the best approach is to restart the service and give it 30 minutes.
    It worked for me
    Kind regards,
    Bart.

    Hi,
This issue most likely is related to a communication problem with the database or a corruption as we can see from the logs :
2010/11/21 19:44:41 main ani ERROR POStore: Failed resolving object because: java.lang.NullPointerException
    2010/11/21 19:44:41 main ani ERROR AniMain: java.lang.NullPointerException
ANI Server failed to load from the database.
Please stop and restart the system. You may need to re-initialize the database.
If this does not work, please contact technical support.
The next step is to re-initialize the Campus Manager database. This procedure will delete all the records and maps that you have in Campus Manager, you would need to run a new Campus Data Collection and User Tracking Acquisition to have clean and fresh database information.
If that ok with you, you can try the below steps to re-initialize the Campus database. By doing this, it will not effect any other database of LMS will clean Campus Manager database.
    +) Stop the daemon manager:
    net stop crmdmgtd
    +) cd CSCOpx\bin\
+) Type the following command (case sensitive):
    perl dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=ani dmprefix=ANI
    +) Start the daemon manager:
    net start crmdmgtd
Now, wait another 15 minutes and wait for dmgtd.lock file to release from location CSCOpx\objects\dmgtd\ready.
Now check the status of ANIServer with command :- pdshow ANIServer ( case sensitive)
it should have the status Busy with Flag set.

Having trouble when I launch iTunes (version 11.0.2) on my Dell Laptop running Windows 7 Professional (service pack 1).  I get an error message indicating software required to communicate with iPod and mobile phones was not installed correctly.  Do you want iTunes to try to repair this for you?  I normally respond with OK and it immediately tells me "could not be repaired.  Please reinstall iTunes..."  I have done this a number of times to no avail.

I also notice Quicktime is not getting installed at all.
That one is normal nowadays (ever since the iTunes versions 10.5.x).
The software required for communicating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly. Do you want iTunes to try to repair this for you?
Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Error message on iweb, no communication with server

I have three websites on my iweb and hosted by Go Daddy. The main site will not download, error message no communication with server yet other two work fine. I have been to Apple Genius and talked to Go Daddy three times and all is supposedly in order but still will not work. I am able to download on Cyberduck
but using Iweb would be so much simpler. How can it work on two websites and not the third? Help!

If the main site, with the URL - http://www.domain-name.com - is not downloading in the browser, it will be because the external index.html file is not present in the root folder on the server.
The other sites will work because they have the folder-name in the URL ...
    http://www.domain.com/Folder-Name/
... where Folder-Name is the name of the site in iWeb.
Its just a question of republishing the main site if you are using the iWeb FTP and use the settings shown on this page....
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/Publish-Website.html
If you can use an FTP application, publish the site to a local folder and upload the external index.html file only, to the root folder on the server.

  • Event ID: 5014, 5004 The DFS Replication Service is stopping communication with partner / Error 1726 (The remote procedure call failed.)

I'm replicating between two servers in two sites (Server A - Server 2012 R2 STD, Server B - Server 2008 R2) over a VPN (Sonicwall Firewall).  Though the initial replication seems to be
happening it is very slow (the folder in question is less than 3GB).  I'm seeing these in the event viewer every few minutes:
The DFS Replication service is stopping communication with partner PPIFTC for replication group FTC due to an error. The service will retry the connection periodically.
    Additional Information:
Error: 1726 (The remote procedure call failed.)
    and then....
The DFS Replication service successfully established an inbound connection with partner PPIFTC for replication group FTC.
Here are all my troubleshooting steps (keep in mind that our VPN is going through a SonicWall <--I increased the TCP timeout to 24 hours):

I've done a lot of research on the Internet and most of it is pointing to the same stuff I've tried.  Does anyone have any other suggestions?  Maybe I need to look somewhere
else on the server side or firewall side?
I tried replicating from a 2012 R2 server to another 2012 server and am getting the same events in the event log so maybe it's not a server issue.
    Some other things I'm wondering:
-Could it be the speed of the NICs?  Server A is a 2012 Server that has Hyper-V installed.  NIC teaming was initially setup and since Hyper-V is installed the NIC is a "vEthernet
(Microsoft Network Adapter Multiplexor Driver Virtual Switch) running at a speed of 10.0Gbps whereas Server B is running a single NIC at 1.0Gbps
-Could occasional ping timeout's cause the issue?  From time to time I get a timeout but it's not as often as the events I'm seeing.  I'm getting 53ms pings.  The folder
is only 3 GB so it shouldn't take that long to replicate but it's been days.  The schedule I have set for replication is mostly all day except for our backup times which start at 11pm-5am.  Throughout the rest of the time I have it set anywhere from
    4Mbps to 64 Kbps.  Server A is on a 5mb circuit and Server B is on a 10mb circuit.

I'm seeing the same errors, all servers are running 2008 R2 x64. Across multiple sites, VPN is steady and reliably.
    185 events from 12:28:21 to 12:49:25
Events are for all five servers (one per office, five total offices, no two in the same city, across three states).
Events are not limited to one replication group. I have quite a few replication groups, so I don't know for sure but I'm running under the reasonable assumption that none are spared.
Reminder from original post (and also, yes, same for me), the error is: Error: 1726 (The remote procedure call failed.)
Some way to figure out what code triggers an Event ID 5014, and what code therein specifies an Error 1726, would extremely helpful. Trying random command line/registry changes on live servers is exceptionally unappealing.
Side note, 1726 is referenced here:
    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/976442?wa=wsignin1.0
But it says, "This RPC connection problem may be caused by an unstable WAN connection." I don't believe this is the case for my system.
    It also says...
For most RPC connection problems, the DFS Replication service will try to obtain the files again without logging a warning or an error in the DFS Replication log. You can capture the network trace to determine whether the cause of the problem is at the network
layer. To examine the TCP ports that the DFS Replication service is using on replication partners, run the following command in a
    Command Prompt window:
    NETSTAT –ANOBP TCP
This returns all open TCP connections. The connections in question are "DFSRs.exe", which the command won't let you filter for.
Instead, I used the NETSTAT command as advertised, dumping output to info.txt:
    NETSTAT -ANOBP TCP >> X:\info.txt
Then I opened Excel and manually opened the .TXT for the open wizard. I chose fixed-width fields based on the first row for each result, and then added a column:
    =IF(A3="Can not", "Can not obtain ownership information", IF(LEFT(A3,1) = "[", A3&B3&C3, ""))
Dragging this down through the entire file let me see that row (Row F) as the file name. Some anomalies were present but none impacted DFSrs.exe results.
Finally, you can sort/filter (I sorted because I like being able to see everything, should I choose to) to get just the results you need, with the partial rows removed from the result set, or bumped to the end.
My server had 125 connections open.
That is a staggering number of connections to review, and I feel like I'm looking for a needle in a haystack.
I'll see if I can find anything useful out, but a better solution would be most wonderful.

  • Siteinfo.sol file path too long

Hopefully someone here can help with this problem. First, I'm
running Windows XP Pro. Every night I do an automatic backup of my
C: drive to an external hard drive (Maxtor) using Maxtor's backup
software, EMC Retrospect Express HD 2.0. However, the backup quits
when it tries to write a particular Flash file because the file
path is too long. The file at the end of the path is siteInfo.sol
and it is in a folder that is nested within 13 other folders. The
    file path is:
    C:/Documents and Settings/[my username]/Application
    Data/Macromedia/Flash Player/#Shared
    Objects/5WGFZ2N2/assets.cobalnitra.com/teams/repository/export/535/e93087b291004840/b0003 ba76d6c7/535e9308/7b291004840b0003ba76d6c7.swf
From the "teams" folder on down through the nesting, there
are no other files in any of the folders. The simplest solution
would be to delete the "teams" folder, and thus all of the folders
within it and the siteInfo.sol file, but I need to know if these
folders (from "teams" on down) and this file are necessary for the
operation of Flash Player. If they are, does anyone have another
solution? I could go into the backup program and manually designate
that every folder and file on my C: drive other than these be
backed up, but that's a pain. I would love to call Adobe technical
support, but there is no phone support for the free version of
    Flash Player.
Thanks in advance for any help that anyone can provide.
    Todd Serota

    Todd,
This is a Flash Shared Object that was written to your
machine by cobalnitra.com. It's like a 'cookie' inside of Flash.
You can safely get rid of it, though you might lose perhaps some
saved game settings (or something saved by cobalnitra.com).
Basically if that site is something you use a lot and does
something important to you, then keep it. Otherwise you can delete
everything under the #Shared Objects folder.

  • Working with excel files in C#, in a web farm

I am creating a excel file uploader that after the upload, searches for specific columns, saves data to SQL Server, then gets rid of the excel file.
I will be accepting .xls & xlsx file types.  The internal file structure should be all fairly standard because this is an internal company app.  So for example, the sheet with the data I am searching for may not always be the first in the book,
but it will always have the same name.
From the research I have done, it seems I can use the Interop library or OpenXML.  I am leaning towards interop.  Because we are on a web farm, I think it would be best to not save the file, just work with it in memory. Would this be a concern
if the files are only only around 50kb? I am only expecting 100 uploads a month.
If it is preferred or required I save the file before pulling the data out, should I save it to the application directory on the web server and expect it to be ok because I am saving/processing/deleting in one request? Or is there a better solution?  I
thought of saving to our file share but that opens a whole new bucket of worms because of having to send credentials with the file when saving.
    Simon.

    Hi Simon,
Open XML SDK can only manipulate Office 2007 and above versions. Since your web form accepts Excel 2003 file, it's not a good choice. But if you want to use the PIA(Primary Interop Assembly) to automate the excel files, it's also not recommened. Neither
of these two options are suitable in your case, you need to use some 3rd-party library to help you, as recommened in this Microsoft KB article.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/257757/en-au
If your business requires the server-side creation of the Office 97,   Office 2000, Office XP, and Office
2003 binary file formats, third-party   vendors offer components that can help you. Microsoft does not provide any   such components, so you will need to either build a solution yourself or   purchase one from a third-party vendor. Many different
third-party products   are available. You should investigate each solution to best match the vendor   to your business needs. If you want to build your own solution that edits the   Office 97, Office 2000, Office XP, and Office 2003 binary file
formats   directly, you can obtain the file format specifications for free under the   terms of the Microsoft Open Specification Promise (OSP). No technical support   is available for the documentation or for the products that you create, but
documentation is available. For more information, visit the following Web   site:
    http://www.microsoft.com/interop/docs/officebinaryformats.mspx
As far as I know, NPOI is a good choice for you. You can search and try it. But as it's a 3rd-party library, we don't provide support for it. It also provide ability to process the worksheet in the memory.

  • Problem of communication with compactrio

    Hello,
I am working with a compactrio 9014 and labview 8.5
I have a problem of communication with my compactrio. I acquire sound with NI 9215 and transmit points from the fpga VI to the VI on the real time target at a rate of 10Khz. On the VI on the RT I have two loops, one determinisic running at a speed of 10Khz (0.1ms) (in this loop I will do my signal processing) and one non-deterministic running much slower (20ms) to communicate data to my computer. To communicate data to my PC, I used shared variable.
The problem is that if I run the VI_RT, I loose immidiately the connection. I think that is because the VI is taking up all of the execution time of the
processor and is starving out the communication loop that is used to
send data back to my PC.
Because of this problem, I try to configure my compactrio to automatically run on startup of my cRIO. So I follow the steps I have read in another message in the forum posted by MattP
To make your application (RT host VI and FPGA VI) run automatically on startup of your cRIO, you will need to do the following:
    1.  Download the FPGA VI to the flash memory on your cRIO.  If
using LabVIEW 8, right-click on the VI in the Project Explorer Window
and select Download VI or Attributes to Flash Memory...
    2.  Build an executable out of the RT VI.  Under your RT target
in the Project Explorer, right-click on Build Specifications and select
New>>Real-Time Application.  Select the source files necessary
for your application and any support files to be included.  Click Build.
3.. After building the RT Application, you will find its entry
under the Build Specifications folder in your project.  Right-click on
the application and choose Set as startup.  Right-click again and
choose Deploy, which will download the application to your cRIO.
With  this procedure, I thougt that I can  run my  loop faster  because I  don't have the RT VI open on my desktop  (PC), so the PC don't have to synchronise the VI. But when I startup my compactrio, I loose connection with the target...
So, what is wrong with my project?  Is it possible to run a loop at 10kHz on the real time processor and communicate in the same time (but every 20ms) data to my PC. Can someone explain me the right procedure to do that at this frequencies?
I have attached my project and hope that someone can help me.

    Hello,
The method you use in your application to transfer the data from the FPGA to
the RT Host use the Front Panel Interactive Communication that write/read the
control/indicators of the FPGA VI. This method provides also risk of Race
    Condition and use uP resources.
To avoid errors in data caused by race conditions and use less processor resources,
I suggest you to rewrite this part of your application with the method
DMA transfer from FPGA to Host.
You will find some good tutorial at the following address.
    What
is the Best Method For Synchronizing a LabVIEW FPGA and a Host Interface VI?
