[community] major changes to qemu

Following discussion in this thread I have now addressed the qemu "situation". Here is a basic rundown from the other thread:
The Situation
OK - let me clarify the situation pkg wise:
qemu - in [community]: built without support of the kernel module kqemu
kqemu - in UNSUPPORTED: builds both qemu and kqemu but according to stonecrest this kernel module won't work
kqemu26 - removed from UNSUPPORTED: was supposed to install kernel module for qemu pkg but qemu pkg does have support for it.
The Solution:
kqemu cannot be distibuted as a binary. I will rebuild qemu in [community] using the kqemu PKGBUILD (should I use the patches?) but will not install the kernel module (last 4 lines). This will makedepends=('gcc<=3.4.3')
I will then remove kqemu from UNSUPPORTED and create a new pkg called kqemu that will be == with the old kqemu26 PKGBUILD.
kqemu will depend=('qemu') and will build against the running kernel - this will not be distributed as a binary.
What you need to know
If you currently have qemu, kqemu or kqemu26 installed I strongly suggest you remove them and begin from scratch as it was not possible to rely on conflicts and replaces commands in the PKGBUILDS. Simply install qemu from [community]
pacman -S qemu
Then download the kqemu tarball and use makepkg to create the kernel module for you running kernel. It does build against gcc4!
I have tested the new qemu pkg on my home system. I installed it, booted into kernel A and built the kqemu module - ran qemu and confirmed kqemu was enabled. I then removed kqemu, booted kernel B and built kqemu again. I then installed and tested in the same way and it worked perfectly. I did not need to use modprobe -f as I had previously.
So, there is no longer a PKGBUILD in the AUR that installs qemu and kqemu all in one. According to some this PKGBUILD did not work anyway (see thread linked above).
Remaining Issues
· I am not certain the PKGBUILDs are the greatest - I had to pretty much guess how they worked without spending even more time fixing it - if you have suggestions to tidy them up they are warmly welcomed.
· qemu needs to be moved from community/system to community/emulators, as I understand it this cannot be done by a regular TU remotely and must actually be moved in the cvsroot to maintain the file history.
· The qemu PKGBUILD does uses patches that apparently allow you to build it against gcc4 - can someone confirm this?

Upgrade from BW 3.5 to BW 7.0 (BI 7.0)
Some of the other features of BI 7 are
1. In Infosets now you can include Infocubes as well.
2. The Remodeling transaction helps you add new key figure and characteristics and handles historical data as well without much hassle. This is only for info cube.
3. The BI accelerator (for now only for infocubes) helps in reducing query run time by almost a factor of 10 - 100. This BI accl is a separate box and would cost more. Vendors for these would be HP or IBM.
4. The monitoring has been imprvoed with a new portal based cockpit. Which means you would need to have an EP guy in ur project for implementing the portal !
5. Search functionality hass improved!! You can search any object. Not like 3.5
6. Transformations are in and routines are passe! Yess, you can always revert to the old transactions too.

SOA Suite 10g and SOA Suite 11g? what are the major changes in these two?

Few major changes to enlist are that SOA suite 10g was using Oracle Application Server (OC4J) however 11g is on Weblogic and 11g is based on SCA. B2B is now part of SOA suite itself and OSB can share a domain with SOA. You may refer below link to know few more -

I have tried the usual suspects to no avail - the item remains stubbornly hidden

It's called "Show All Bookmarks" now. You can also open it by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+B

Making Major Changes; test vs backup site

I am still not convinced there is no bug in the code...I believe I clarified why this is not a bug, but nevertheless I can take another shot.
b) the changes with enables tests don't really affect anything and the #ifdef in db.h is EXTRACorrect, we do not touch / affect / corrupt the environment (the environment region files). You could call it "extra", but not in the sense of useless.
Here is an excerpt from the Configuring Berkeley DB section in the Building Berkeley DB for UNIX/POSIX guide for the --enable-test argument:
--enable-test
To build the Berkeley DB test suite, enter --enable-test as an argument to configure. To run the Berkeley DB test suite, you must also build the Tcl API. This argument should not be specified when configuring to build production binaries.
So, we clearly mention that this option should not be used for libraries deployed into production environments.
The test system, that is, enabling the test suite, is useful to initially determine if the Berkeley DB library, built with specific options (for example, mutex implementation) works correctly in a certain environment (a particular platform, OS etc). After you finish developing your application and want to distribute it, you should distribute with libraries that have not been built with testing enabled (nor debugging, which is obvious, nor diagnostics).
I suggest you remove the #ifdef CONFIG_TEST from db.h entirely in next major release, so you don't change API/ABI on --enable/disable-test configure option. Or better move it to some private structures so it doesn't get exported to the public API at all.Thanks for this suggestion; we will consider it (the changes should be fairly simple to do).

PI Directory API - Communication Channel Change

Building an application using SAP PI Directory API to read existing communication channel(s) and to update them to change the Status (Active / Inactive). I'm able to change the status but not able to retain the password in the channel; For example, JDBC channel has DB user id and password. After successfully changing the status, Channel is loosing password.
Here is the logic that I'm following to change the communication channel.
Using Communication Channel Service
- Read method to get communication channel object
- Change method to change the status
      - In change method, I'm creating CommunicationChalleRestricted object based on the CommunicationChannel object received in Read method. (using get and set methods)
Also, I'm dynamically creating and activate/reverting the Change list while performing the change operation.
Please note that the communication channel service in WSNavigator is not showing the password when executing READ method. I've also tried OpenForChange method, but the same issue.
How can I make password retained while changing the existing communication channel?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Sat,
I had implemented a tool to make mass channel active or inactive using a simple excel-sheet interface. I had faced the password issue when i was implementing this. But i came to know that password are not stored as plain text but instead they are stored as encrypted text with some complex encryption algorithm and key. And also due to security reasons the web-services in PI do not return password(not even the encrypted string).
So to update,save and activate any channel in PI you simply need to skip the AdapterSpecificAttribute which has "password" as the name. Below is the pseudo code(java) for this
ArrayList<GenericProperty> ASA = new ArrayList<GenericProperty>();
Loop all AdapterSpecificAttributes:
if(Name.tolowercase().contains("password"))
     // skip
else
     GenericProperty attr = new GenericProperty();
     attr.setName(Name);
     attr.setValue(Value);
     ASA.add(attr);
Loop End:
//set ASA to the CommunicationChannel object AdapterSpecificAttribute
Note: Not tested the above code so make changes accordingly(as required). I have implemented this same logic and it worked.

Major change to previews in 3.5?

Ok did I miss the memo or have I been in front of the computer for to long?
For another post here I started looking into previews and started seeing some different behavior between 3.5 and earlier versions This sound crazy but I don;t think Aperture is using the Preview folder and its contents anymore.
The first hint came with the wording in the Previews Preference for sharing. It is no longer share the preview but share the XML. Then I try dragging an image out of Aperture which always resulted in a small file size depending on the Previews setting in Preferences. With 3.5 I am seeing full sized files when I drag out regardless of the preview setting.
Then I started deleting previews which caused the preview file to be removed from the library but when I regenerate the preview no new file appears in the Previews folder. In addition even after deleting the preview when you select update preview Aperture reports the preview is up-to-date. This after it was deleted.
Finally I deleted the whole preview folder, Aperture didn't burp or regenerate the folder either.
This is with managed originals. Haven't tried it yet with referenced originals off-line. That should be interesting.
Can someone else look at this and let me know if I need a long vacation

I'm cross posting to this thread to see if others are noticing the same behavior as me.
The biggest kerfuffle is the full size images coming out of the media browser in other apps, as noted below.
Without forcing Aperture to create a new preview by slightly adjusting the image, Aperture serves up a full size master file in other applications using media browser or in Drag-and-Drop. Most unfortunate!!!
For years I've been organizing my library in Aperture, and dragging thumbnails to the desktop for quick PDFs and 1-off emails.
This worked with RAW images AND .PSD files, adjusted or un-adjusted. I would always drag out a preview .jpg version of the image to the desktop.
In ver 3.5, when I drag a managed PSD file's thumbnail to the desktop, it copies the full PSD file!
If I make any adjustment to the file, even adjusting exposure and then re-settting it to 0, then the image preview will be transferred, but for straight files, it copies the Master to the desktop.
I've tried updating previews, deleting and re-generating previews to no avail. All preferences are identical, and when I switch back to my older library, the previews drag correctly. It's just the new library, created with the newest version of Aperture, that seems to work incorrectly.
I say "incorrectly" because Apple documentation states that the preview should be copied, not the original.
UPON FURTHER EXPERIMENTATION.. I realize that the original Master PDF is being used as the share between iPhoto, Mail, etc. When I drag from the Media Browser in Mail, I get the full PDF, not a Preview.
Major pain, in my opinion, and I wonder if anyone at Apple realizes that the full file is being shared.

After opening the site, please select the Source Release Version which is 4.6 b Then Select the Target Release Version which is "mySAP ERP 2005" or ECC 6.0

Major change to how smart folders work?

I'm an ex-PC user and one way I configured the finder to work more like how I was used to working was to color code all my folders red and the half-dozen files I work with on a daily basis green. I had smart folders for both in the Tiger sidebar and they were there all the time. In Leopard they are only there in a finder window and are in the search for area. When I am in a program and want to open a file, that search for section is no longer in the sidebar, so I have to drill down through all folders and sub-folders to find the file I want. Am I going to be limited to launching files directly from the smart folder to easily find the files I need and not open from within the application?

By default when you make a Smart Folder and save it you get it saved into this folder:
"/Users/yourname/Library/Saved Searches"
If you open that folder you should see your Smart Folders. Drag them into the "Places" section of the Sidebar in your open Finder window. They will now show up in the Open dialog window of your application. Of course, you will have them listed twice in the normal Finder window: once in places, so you can see them in the Open window, and once in Search For. Jeez, don't the programmers ever have to talk to each other? Anyway, the sensible thing to do is to have other sorts of things, that you don't need access to from an application, in the Search For section--or just close that section up. This is definitely another "what were they thinking" moment.

I'm in the process of migrating my custom reports from SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012. I wonder if all the tables / views in SCCM 2007 are the same in SCCM 2012 for my reporting purposes? So far everything I've migrated over appears to work without a problem.

File --> Save for Web. Though if you are talking an existing web page, you will probably need to dig into the HTML code and modify it in Dreamweaver. Impossible to know. Your info is simply insufficient and your description generic and vague.

Need to reactivate Logic after major changes to computer

In recent days, due to the Nvidia recall, my Macbook Pro 4,1 (10.6.4, 6GB RAM) has been through two new motherboards and is on a new HD. I have restored the entire system to the new disk using a TimeMachine backup. Everything's working OK, but Logic wants a serial number and the last time I hit this problem I couldn't work around it. So I'm coming here for help before proceeding. I want to be able to reactivate Logic Pro and its associated programs to work with this 'new' computer. How is that done, please?
Also: I have NOT upgraded to 10.6.5, which was introduced in the middle of my repair work. Should I? Does it work well with the Logic Pro components?

I have bought my iPod from Circuit City & I bought their protection plan of 3 years. I have done this is the past with my iPod & when I needed to return it because of a problem, they sent me a gift card for the amount I paid for the iPod so I could go in to any Circuit city & use it how ever I wanted. I bought the iPod I have now with it & got the protection plan again. My iPod's connector cord is splitting at the plug & I think it is causing some damage to the internal parts of the iPod. I went to Circuit City's site to fill out a return form & noticed a message in red. It said that any returned iPod that is found to be damaged, they will send you a refurbished iPod. I do not want to get another iPod, I wanted to get something else with the gift card. I e-mailed Circuit City about this, but got no where. Does any one know about this new return policy & what can be done so I get a gift card & not a refurbished iPod?

Richard, the same thing happened to me at Best Buy. I think they all used to give out gift cards, but have switched to the refurbished plan. They may have done this because they felt that people getting a gift card for the same amount of money that they paid for an iPod years ago was a bit too generous; i.e. 'free upgrades'. And I do partially agree, but I also had a very hard time parting with my old iPod for a refurbished one.
As far as I know, there's nothing you can do except take what you can get. I argued with the 'Geek Squad' to no avail about this, and had to end up getting a refurbished one.
