Compaq nx6325 Charger

I have a Compaq nx6325 laptop and the original charger is gone. I got a cheap replacement charger that is 18.5v and 3.5Amp but now, the charger plug is messed up and it sometimes won't charger. I have an HP charger with a part  number 384021-001 at 19V and 4.7Amp. Will this charger work with my Compaq nx6325 which is 18.5Volts at 3.5Amp? My old charger is really annoying as when I'm using Virtual Box, my computer will crash if the charger is bumped as it get discpnnected.

It is the same plug, right? Yes it will work and in fact I am seeing the 19v 4.7amp recommended for the nx6325. I think the 18.5 and 3.5 adapter may be a little underpowered.

  • Can the hp compaq 6735s charging port be repaired

    hi all
please i need a hardware specialist who is conversant to the HP compaq 6735s AMD sempron 1gig ram notebook
to help me on this one
    my laptop recently stopped charging
it will only blink several times when you try to put it on
i tried a working ac adapter from another laptop of same model
but it still did not work.
then i charged the battery with a laptop of same model and inserted back to my laptop
and the laptop powered on but still cannot be charged through the charging port
i was told the charging port is bad.
please is it possible to change the charging port of the hp compaq 6735s without changing the entire motherboard
or do i have to buy another motherboard entirely cos someone said it is not possible...
thanks i really appreciate all your help

It is possible but requires fine soldering and removing (not replacing) the motherboard. You remove the old power jack module and solder a new one in place. There are many shops on the internet that will do the job for $100-150US. Post back if you want more help.

  • Nx6325 charging led solid amber with no battery and wont power.which motherbrd component is faulty?

I have 2 nx6325s.one has developed a fault where with the charger plugged in the charging led flashs once green then goes solid amber with or without the battery connected. The laptop wont power on.The charger and battery are both good as tested on the other laptop.I suspect a component in the charging circuit has gone faulty.Would any one know which component I should look at and what to measure.
    Thanks

    >If I remove the battery the laptop will not power on either and only when using a fully charged battery will the laptop power up. The battery icon shows it to be charging only briefly when I plug in. I've even tried another AC charger even though mine is good (tested) and also tested with another battery to no avail.
Indeed, it sounds like something wrong on the motherboard it could be related to power supply electronic which is placed on the board power problems can be related to faulty RAM modules too so maybe you should check the RAM firstly remove one single module and try to power up the unit using one module in different slots
Otherwise you would need help from a notebook technician... ;(

  • Hp Compaq 6820s charger problems

    Hey,
Recently my charger started to lose connection and more often stop charging the laptop. I fiddle with the connection and i worked again. Yesterday, though, my laptop just died in this sense. No matter what i did with the charger plug it did not charge. I bought a universal charger for laptops thinking that it was the chargers issue. But now it seems that there might be a problem with the socket itself. Any suggestions how I should troubleshoot this without taking it to a shop?
    Thanks,
    Vytas

You already shot the trouble. You have a bad power jack. You can order a new jack
    The part
This needs to be soldered to the motherboard in place of the old jack.

  • Replacing hard drive in Compaq nx6325

My hard drive is failing. I have cloned the bad drive and need to find a replacement. Just went on to drivesolutions.com and found some good deals on drives and a way to transfer the cloned image. Is this a good route to go? I read the hard drive Faq so I will avoid Seagate and 7200rpm drives.
Thanks for your time and any other advice you can give.

The prices there look pretty decent. As for transferring the cloned image, what software did you use to clone? Most imaging software has a way to restore the image to a new hdd.
I use Macrium. It creates an Image of the hdd to CD/DVD or external USB hdd. It also lets you create a bootable cd to boot from & restore the image to a new hdd.

  • HP Compaq nx 6325: HDD Size up

I want to change the HDD of my HP Compaq nx6325 (SATA) / XP SP3 (atapi.sys installed) from the original 100 GB to an actual 500GB/8SSD Seagate SATA.
What do I have to regard: Bios HDD Translation mode Bit-shift or LBA-Assisted? BIOS-DMA transmission ON or OFF?
Other settings I have to respect?
    BIOS Rom-Version is F.07
    Thanks a lot for assistance,
    Al

I want to hold my nx6325 because of 4:3 screenratio. My update-strategy: 1. 4GB RAM (done) 2. USB3 card / Expresscard (done, works great) 3. HDD as mentioned, transfer of old HDD/ XP/ personal data with cloning by Acronis (never change a running s...) 4. Update to Win7, if the first steps will be ok
step 3: Thank you Huffer for the good hints specially concerning use of 500gigHDD! Answer of official HP-Support was PC will work only till 100gig... but may be they only reports old standard data cause old PC...
Its really a SATA-150. Actual BIOS setting HDD-Translating mode (100GB-HDD) is Bit-shift. Never had trouble. Most forum-suggestions are setting LBA, as yours. But I read sometimes that with LBA the PC will not recognize the HDD, therefore I'm affraid to try the new HDD while starting the system with the boot-cd of Acronis. Its possible to reset the BIOS while booting?

  • NX6325 Recovery DVDs

    Hi all
So i have this "slight problem"...i have the HP (Compaq) NX6325 which i bought new at the beginning of 2008. Now i know it's an old machine but it has been a rock, kept running when all my other machines have given up the ghost.
Just recently the hard drive gave up for good, died, dead, not a peep, not bad for 6 years of heavy useage but a PITA for me. So i bought a new one and gave the laptop a treat by going for a 7200rpm unit and 32mb cache and then, as you do, stuck in disc one of my recovery DVDs and all seemed to go well up until the actual installation routine when it froze...solid, nothing, zero, zip, nada. So i took out the DVD and held it up to the light and what i saw made me go "ugh!"...little points of light! the dvd had degraded. It isn't scratched, it just has these little spots...and DVD 2 is exactly the same
I tried painting over the spots with a paint pen (on the label side of course) as i've done this before with successful results, but not this time unfortunately, the dscs are toast!
So, can anyone help me in my quest for the recovery DVDs for Windows XP Pro on my trusty NX6325?
I do have an OEM XP Pro but i'd really rather have it back to as it was (minus Norton of course!) as me and the old gal have grown accustomed to each other over the last 6 years and i liked her just as she was!
Thanks in advance for any useful help

Thanks very much for your help.
Unfortunately i'm in the UK and by the time shipping is added to the "third party" website option it comes to $40, quite an expense for a laptop that is probably only worth $50 in todays market :/
It may end up being an OEM install and then adding all the drivers.
Shame really as i did like the speed and ease of the option of reinstalling everything from a partition...bugger :/
Edit*....It does run Win7 Ult 64bit slick as you like as i upgraded it to a TL-68 (Dual Core 2.4ghz) and have the option of 8gb if i end up installing a complete new OS

  • Compaq nc6000 not charging the battery

    Hello,
I'm having a problem with a Compaq nc6000 I'm trying to fix up for a freind.  It doesn't appear to be charging the battery.  It will run off the battery and the external power just fine, but the charging indicator does not come on and the power management in XP doesn't show any increase in the battery's charge.  If the battery won't charge, this laptop will turn into a desktop once the battery is dead.  Does anyone know where the charging circuit for the battery is located?  I'm hoping it's not on the mainboard, but I expect it is.
Any chance this is a problem with the OS?  This is a laptop that came off-lease and there's something strange about the install of XP that's on it.  I can't put my finger on it, but something just doesn't seem right.

    Hello;
Two years ago I had this same issue. Bought a new charger. Still would not charge. Bought a new battery. That fixed it.
Now I am in the same situation....maybe. The charger registers as on AC power. It will keep the battery from going deaf, but will not charge.
If this was a mother board issue instead of battery how would you know?
So, even though this is an older computer I am considering purchasing a new battery.
As far as I know even in perfect working condition my laptop is not worth a dollar.
Laptops are more difficult to diagnose and I don't know anyone who will repair them.
    Wishing us both good luck,
                                            Chris

I would need to examine it to see if there is an issue with the charging port but a really dead battery can make it seem as if the charger is not working right. If you can describe the problem perhaps we can troubleshoot the AC adapter a little more. If you are willing to accept a non-genuine "compatible" battery they are very cheap.
    Used Genuine
New Genuine but shipped from China
    New Genuine from U.S.
    New "compatible" from US
    A wide range of choices.

  • Reinstalled Windows on HP Compaq nc2400 & battery will not charge.

I reinstalled Windows XP on a friends HP Compaq nc2400 now the battery will not charge. When I plug in the AC power cord the device manager thinks it is Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet card. I have reinstalled the battery and AC drivers to no avail.  Any idea of what might be the issue. I have also tried a spare battery and power cord to no avail.
    Thanks in advance.

    You're very welcome.
Do you know if the battery was charging beforehand?
Is it possible the contacts on the battery/notebook got bent somehow?
    You can try this...
Reset the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery which is basically the driver that communicates between the computer and the battery. There is a chance that it is corrupted.
Step 1. Go to Device Manager
    Step 2. Select Batteries
Step 3. Right click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there
    Step 4. Click Uninstall
Step 5. At the prompt put a check in the box to remove the current driver
    Step 6. Shutdown the computer
Step 7: Remove the battery for minute and then put it back in
When the computer comes back up it should automatically find the driver.
Step 8. Go to Device Manager
    Step 9. Select Batteries
Step 10. Right click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there
Step 11. Click "Search automatically for updated driver software"
Do the same thing with Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller.

  • Compaq Charger not working

When i plug my charger into my compaq presario cq61 the led next to the port stays on, but it doesn't change I don't think it's is telling charger since the led lights up

    Hi @Jayjack29 ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your Compaq Presario CQ61 and issue with the Charger. Here is a link to test and calibrate the battery.
Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues.
Plug the power adapter directly into a functioning wall outlet. Do not plug it into a power strip, surge protector, or secondary power source as this could cause and issue.
    Hope this helps you.
