Compare Integer value to Char value

Hi Experts,
I have one query. I have one amount field. I wanted to validate that this field should not contain any text i.e. SY-ABCDE.
Example:
data: lv_var TYPE I.
LV_VAR = '100.00'.
IF LV_VAR NE SY-ABCDE.
"SOME MESSAGE
ENDIF.
While debugging I found that still control is going to inside above mentioned if condition.
Can anybody will suggest me how to write condition for it.
Thanks,
Neha

neha,
hope you understnad now
so for checking...
first do this...
translate lv_var to uppercase. " this is needed bychane the string contains lower case.. and sy-abcde doesnt contain lower case elements.
if lv_var CA sy-abcde.
message 'contains chars' type 'I'.
endif.

  • Comparing String values against a collection of Names in a Hash Table

    Objective:
    Is to make a script that will import a csv file containing two values: "Name" and "Price". This would ideally be stored in a hash table with the key name of "Name" and the value being "Price". The second part would be
    importing a second csv file that has a list of names to compare too. If it finds a similar match to a key name in the hash table and then it will add that to a new array with the price. At the end it would add all the prices and give you a total value.
    The Problem to Solve:
    In the real world people have a tendency to not write names exactly the same way, for example I am looking at a list of books to buy in an eBay auction. In the auction they provide a text list of all the names of books for sale. In my price guide it has all
    the names and dollar values of each book. The wording of the way each book is named could differ from the person who writes it and what is actually in my reference pricing list. An example might be "The Black Sheep" vs "Black Sheep" or
    "Moby-Dick" vs "Moby Dick".
    I've tried making a script and comparing these values using the -like operator and have only had about 70% accuracy. Is there a way to increase that by
    comparing the characters instead of likeness of words? I'm not really sure how to solve this issue as it's very hard to do quality check on the input when your talking about hundreds of names in the list. Is there a better way to compare values in power-shell
    then the "like" operator? Do I need to use a database instead of a hash table? In the real world I feel like a search engine would know the differences in these variations and still provide the desired results so why not for this type of application?
    In other words, create a bit more intelligence to say well it's not a 100% match but 90% so that is close enough, add it to the array as a match and add the price etc..
    I'd be curious as to any thoughts on this? Maybe a scripting language with better matching for text?

    Have you considered setting up a manual correction process that "learns" as you make corrections, automatically building a look up table of possible spellings of each Name?  If you get an exact match, use it.  If not, go to the look up
    table and see if there's been a previous entry with the same spelling and what it was corrected to.

  • Compare Characteristic Values

    I have run into a situation where I need to compare 2 characteristic values in a query.  I have one characteristic named "Sales PNL" and one characteristic named "Financial PNL".  The values for these characteristics are text like "BREAD" or "CEREAL".  I need to create a query that returns all the rows where "Sales PNL" does not equal "Financial PNL".  So, a row where both characteristics equal each other should not be returned from the query, but a row where one characteristic equals "CEREAL" and one equals "BREAD" should be returned from the query.  Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

    Hi Mark,
    What do these chars have as a Key Value (assuming BREAD is the text value)? And then does Sales PNL 101 (Bread) = Financial PNL 101 (Bread)?
    If yes, then you can create a formula variable that will be replaced with the key value (101). This converts it into a KF and then you can compare the values in a formula to return 0 or 1. Then create a condition on this formula to display the rows as reqd.
    Hope this helps...

     How can I structure the statement to get (the most recent - order by date ) result for Comp?

    Satheesh Variath, I just had to make some corrections from your script to get the correct answer:
    CREATE
    VIEW vw_Comp
    AS
    SELECT
    TOP 1 t.IDNO,t.name,t.[Date],t.Price1,t.Price2,
    CASE
    WHEN t.Price2
    > LAG(Price2,1)
    OVER (PARTITION
    BY name
    ORDER BY IDNO)
    THEN 1
    WHEN t.Price2
    < LAG(Price2,1)
    OVER (PARTITION
    BY name
    ORDER BY IDNo)
    THEN -1
    ELSE 0
    END
    AS Comp
    FROM
    @T t
    ORDER
    BY DATE
    DESC
    The adjustments: the selection of the most recent comparison (Top 1) and the use of the function LAG (instead of LEAD) to get the previous value of the column.

  • SSRS Expression to compare two values and get data from another dataset

    Hi,
    I have a requirement where in i need to compare a value of a dataset (not the one which table is poiting to)
    with the value of a text box, and return the count if it matches else 0, the expression is as below. Here
    industryName and recCount are from the dataset ds_MedimOrLowImpactEntities.  whats wrong in this expression
    =Sum(IIF(Fields!industryName.Value = reportItems!hpapra_name.Value, Fields!RecCount.Value, 0), "ds_MediumOrLowImpactEntities")
    This is the error that i am getting:
    Any help on this is appreciated
    Kruthi Hegde

    Hi Kruthi,
    After testing the issue in my local environment, I can reproduce it. Just the error message said, “Aggregate function can be used only on report items contained in page headers and footers”. So the sum function that contains report items should be stayed
    at page headers or footers. Besides, you said the hpapra_name textbox contain a field from another dataset, not the ds_MedimOrLowImpactEntities dataset. While in Reporting Services, Report item expressions can only refer to other report items within the same
    grouping scope or a containing grouping scope. So consider the two issues, we should use some other expression to instead the “reportItems!hpapra_name.Value” expression.
    Take a look at the "Looking up values from another dataset" topic here:

    Hope this helps.

  • Passing multiple integer values as parameter in SSRS

    Hello,
    I am trying to pass a comma separated multiple integer value parameter in SSRS report and it errors out complaining that it is not able to convert the nvarchar value to datatype int. But it works fine when I pass a single value. Here is the code I am using
    for the report and I am stuck at passing multiple values.
    SELECT
    id,count(*) as cnt
    from table
    and ID in (@id) group by id
    eg: if I pass 10,20,30 then I would get error however if I pass 10 then it works fine
    Is there a different method to pass multiple integer values?
    Thanks for your help.

    A comma is, of course, a textual character and not an integer, thus the error you are getting. Multi-value parameters can be used for this.
    Select "Allow multiple values"and set data type to Integer. Multi-value parameters deliver the values as an array. The query interface is smart enough to convert them to the proper syntax (comma-delimited) automatically so a statement like:
    WHERE Field IN (@id)
    where the parameter has an array of values {1, 2, and 3} is interpreted as:
    WHERE Field IN (1,2,3)
    You do not need to manually convert it in a transact SQL query. That is not the case for displaying the value array in your report. If you wish to display the array (described above) in your report as "1, 2, 3", you will need to use a join expression:
    =Join(@id, ", ")
    As DJ described, the other part to a multivalue parameter is the Available values. These can be set explicitly but given your example, I think it would be best to create a new dataset that retrieves a distinct list of the IDs that can be retrieved, perhaps
    something like:
    SELECT DISTINCT GroupName, GroupID
    FROM table
    WHERE [criteria]
    Set the available values to use this query with GroupName (or whatever user-friendly field you choose for your dataset) as the label and the id as the value. The label field should be something the the target report user can easily identify the correct group
    using.
    If you don't want to or can't use a multivalue parameter for some reason then you will need to manipulate your parameter value prior to consuming it in your query. When you add the parameter to the TSql query and save the dataset, SSRS adds it to the Parameters
    property of the dataset. Open the dataset properties and select the parameters tab. You should see your parameter in the list. click the expression builder (fx) button next to the value and enter this expression:
    =Split(@id,",")
    Note that the second element of the expression is the delimiter. If your text input has comma-space as a delimiter (1, 2, 3 vs 1,2,3) then that element must include ", ". My example just has comma so if you use that with a string "1, 2, 3"then
    the resulting array will still have 3 elements but the 2nd and 3rd elements of the array will have a preceding space which will cause your dataset to error with the same error. As long as there are no non-numeric characters in any of the elements, the split6
    will create the text array, SSRS will dynamically generate the correct "IN"syntax (comma separated) and SQL will convert the elements from VARCHAR to INT on the fly.

    Message was edited by: Doug Bassett

    I've been following this thread and trying to figure out how to make this work. I was getting inconsistent results or errors with most of the code that has been posted. But I finally got it working... at least on a Leopard machine (not sure if this could have changed between Tiger and Leopard so your mileage may vary).
    What I found was that a checkbox button that's located directly in a window seems to have a state that's equal to 0 when it's unchecked and 1 when it's checked. But a checkbox cell that's contained within a matrix seems to have a state that's set to either _off state_ or _on state_. Trying to set a cell's state to 0 or 1 simply wasn't working right for me. So I get the state of the "selectall" checkbox button (which is a 0/1) and transform it to either "off state" or "on state" before setting the states of the checkbox cells in the matrix.
    Here's my code:
    on clicked theObject
    set n to name of theObject
    if n = "selectall" then
    set s to state of theObject
    log "state: " & s
    if s = 0 then
    set newState to off state
    else
    set newState to on state
    end if
    repeat with i from 1 to count of cells of matrix "directories" of window "main"
    tell cell i of matrix "directories" of window "main"
    set state to newState
    end tell
    end repeat
    return
    end if
    if n = "logStatesBtn" then
    logStates()
    return
    end if
    end clicked
    on logStates()
    log "Logging states:"
    set s to state of button "selectall" of window "main"
    log "selectall checkbox: " & s
    repeat with i from 1 to count of cells of matrix "directories" of window "main"
    tell cell i of matrix "directories" of window "main"
    set s to state
    end tell
    log "Cell " & i & ": " & s
    end repeat
    end logStates
    Note the "logStates" handler is just something I connected up to a "logStatesBtn" button in my window that lets me spit out the states of all the checkboxes into the console log. This is how I actually discovered that the cells were set to "off state" or "on state".

    </td>
    </tr>
    ======================================================
    The the project class is passes into the page and has the appropriate values. The name, project number and description fields work as I would expect. However, the idx value is alway '0'. If I print out pageFlow.project.idx it has the correct value.
    How do I fix this? My feeling is that it is related to the form field being an int and not a string. The default parameter indicates that is only works with null values, and ints default to zero. Do I need to use an Integer value instead in the form, or just stay away from non-string form fields.
    Thank for the help!!

  • Read integer values from spreadsheet and display the values in a table

    Hi all,
    I have integer values to read from a spreadsheet and display them in a table. I am using 'Read from spreadsheet file' in 'integer' mode. I would like to display these values in a table. The problem is that the table takes only 2d-array of string as input but not integer.
    It works fine if I change the mode of 'Read from spreadsheet file' from 'integer' to 'string' but I want to read integers and have to use the integer values for further calculations. Please give any suggestions on displaying integers to a table.
    Thank you.

  • Help comparing the value of a button using the Property Node (I get a variant)

    Dear Sirs:
    (I'm using LabView 6. I guess the solution is different for 6.1)
    Currently I have created an array of Boolean RefNums (which point to many, many buttons). When I need to know when any (and which) of the buttons was pressed I just compare every element on the array with the constant TRUE. It fact, as the array is built from RefNums, I should compare the VALUE from the Property Node.
    The problem here is that the Property Node for this type of Boolean is a LV Variant, and I need to compare this with a TRUE/FALSE value.
    I tried to convert the TRUE constant to a LV variant and visc. But nothing works... I always get that none of the buttons was pressed.
    Here it co
    mes the question: "How can I compare the value of a Property Node for a Boolean (Button) with a TRUE (or False) constant?"
    BTW, maybe I should explain why I'm using RefNums instead of the direct values: As my project requires tons of buttons, I would preffer using RefNums to refer to them. (I.E. I could use a single VI that takes the RefNum and formats the button to hide it for certain users).
    I have enclosed a VI that contains what I've achieved until now, which is nothing
    I appreciate your time and help.

    Javier,
    There is another problem in your code: the booleans are not polled by the main loop so they will remain false until the user presses them again. This renders the boolean latch action useless.
    What you can do is to change the mechanical action of the booleans to non-latch. When you detect a "true" in the polling loop, set the boolean to false again. One added benefit is that once all boolean are non-latch, the value property won't be a variant but a boolean so conversion is no longer needed.
