Compare PDF: How to simulate ENTER Key programmatically to suppress the dialog box.

Hi,
We are using Acrobat 8.0. Using Visual Basic, we are opening two PDF files in Acrobat 8.0 professional.We are comparing those two documents using MenuitemExecute(DIGSIG:CompareDocuments ) command and generating the side by side comparison file programatically.
During this process after executing the command "MenuitemExecute(DIGSIG:CompareDocuments )" adobe is displaying "Compare Documents" dialog box where the user need to click OK on it in order to continue with the comparison.
My requirement is to suppress the dialog box and automate the process. Our application is developed in Visual basic.
Could you please let me know how to suppress the dialog box using Visual basic. Is it possible using VB or any alternatives for this. Because we need to compare many PDF documents so clicking OK every time requires user intervention.
Thanks for your help in advance.

I did not say that AVCommand simulates pressing enter - it is used to automated methods by pre-filling options and not showing the dialogs. Please read the documentation on the AVCommand methods.
You should also note that I said AVCommand is only available to plug-ins, which means it will not work with a VB.NET application.
SendKeys is a basic VB.NET command, it is not part of the Acrobat SDK in any way. Here is Microsoft's documentation on SendKeys. Again I will state that using this method is NOT a good idea for a production environment.

  • How to make ENTER key in internet explorer run the  BIP report?

    In BI publisher 11g, users wanted that after entering the values for the parameter, they hit the ENTER key ( on the keyboard)  and the report should run .
    In Mozilla firefox, when I hit ENTER key on the keyboard report runs fine... but in Internet explorer, it does not ( infact in internet explorer TAB key works)
    How to make ENTER key in internet explorer run the report?
    Thanks
    Ashish

    Perform the following steps and tell us if it  resolve this issue:
    1. In Internet Explorer, click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
    2. Click the Security tab.
    3. There are four security zones listed:
    * Internet
    * Local intranet
    * Trusted sites
    * Restricted sites
    Click the zone being used by P6, which is noted at the bottom right hand corner of the browser window when the P6 URL is being accessed.
    4. Under Security level for this zone, click Custom Level.
    5. Under Downloads, under Automatic prompting for file downloads, click Enable, and then click OK two times.
    6. The browser will need to be restarted for the change to take effect.
    Refer to the following Microsoft Knowledge base article for additional file download and active x controls which should also be enabled: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883255

  • Is there a way to programmatically press enter or yes to close a dialog box in an external application?

    I am using Labview 8.0 and the Run Application and Close Application
    VIs in the Winevent.llb.  This works fine except that when certain
    external applications close they pop up a dialog box asking the user to
    click "Yes", "Cancel" or  "OK".  How can I make Labview click
    the "Yes" button in this case.  VB has a send keys command, but I
    never really got that to work for this type of case.  Thanks.

    Unfortunately my application was not Excel.  I did however solve the problem:
    I Used the Show Window.vi from WINUTIL.llb to get focus on the
    Application Window, then used the Delay function in LV 8.0 to wait 0.1
    sec, then used the simulate_keyboard.vi to send a return. I lost the
    link to it, but this is the improved? version
    (http://forums.ni.com/attachments/ni/270/837/1/simulate_keyboard_modified.vi).
    Although the dialog box briefly appears and beeps it works good enough
    for now.

    cor-el,
    Thanks for your prompt reply. However, the sources you gave do not seem to apply exactly to my situation. I have attached some screenshots that show what the dialogue box looks like for a pdf download, and what my settings in the Apps panel of Options are. You will note in the first screenshot that I have checked the box to handle this file type automatically; however, the next time I try to download a file of that type, the same dialogue box appears looking exactly like the one shown, so checking the "automatic" option appears to do nothing. The files to be downloaded from my Gmail messages are not generic or altered file types - they are shown as pdf, doc, docx, etc. So while your intent was good, your post did not help. Thanks anyway.

  • PS2 - Tab key does not work in dialog boxes

    I am referring to the dialog boxes such as "Don't save" "Cancel" "Save" and pretty much any other dialog, the Tab key does not go through the options as it does in pretty much any software I have used.
    Is this the normal behavior in Photoshop PS2; or is there some way to 'fix' it?

    Is this the normal behavior in Photoshop PS2
    That seems unlikely, but firstly:
    How To Get Help Quickly!
    And secondly: Are Photoshop and OS fully updated and have you performed the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by keeping command-alt-shift pressed while starting Photoshop, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance, font validation, etc.)?

  • Problem with finishing install of Flash Player on a Mac. When finishing by entering the requested password, the dialog box jiggles as if the p/w is invalid. But it works in the Adobe site.

    I am trying to install Flash player on my Mac. All the steps are working as they should, until the point where I am asked to enter my password. I do this, and the dialog box jiggles as through  the p/w were invalid. However, it works to sign in to the Adobe site. I just changed it to be sure and checked again.

    There is no password required to download or install the Flash Player.  Chances are your Mac is requiring you to enter its password to allow the installation to occur.

  • How can i get my email out of the file box icon?

    How can I get my email out of the file box icon? Sometimes I touch it by accident and the email message goes in there.

    Another thing to try is renaming it with a .htm or .html extension.
    If that doesn't work either, do you have any other files from your old system? In particular, if you have your old places.sqlite file, you could use that to overwrite your new places.sqlite (bookmarks+history) file.

  • How to add a title to a JavaScript Confirm dialog box.

    function confirmDelete() {
    var msg = "Do you want to continue removing the items ?";
    return confirm(msg);
    Presently it says http://locahost:8080/says etc on the title bar for the dialog box. Instead I want to set the title as "Confirm Delete". How can I do this?

    You're talking about the document title as you set it in the HTML head? Just alter the title of the document accordingly in the same Javascript function.
    If you find Javascript hard, there's a nice tutorial at w3schools.com. And for Javascript related questions better use a forum devoted to Javascript. There are ones at webdeveloper.com and dynamicdrive.com.

    I'm not sure how (or even if) it can be achieved using the LabVIEW built-in open dialog, but a .NET call to openfiledialog (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.forms.openfiledialog.aspx) can do what you're looking for. The .NET functions are better documentented that simple user.dll calls, so it might be easier to implement.
