Compare physical db with CASE model

I'm using Designer Release 6.0 for PC. I'd like to compare (diff) my Designer db server model with my physical implementation
residing on our server. We sometimes have developers change the physical db without changing the CASE tool (ERD, tables, etc.). I
remember an old version of the CASE tool that had a report available that performed this compare. You run the report, login to your
physical db, then it would compare the CASE model with the physical model and give you an output of the differences. It would report
any column size/type changes, constraint changes, index changes - everything. I don't remember the name of the report but
I can't find a report title in this CASE version that sounds like this. Anyone know of such a report?

Hi,
You can run the Reconcile Report when you run the Server model generator. In the Design editor select the Relational Table Definition node and open the Server Model Generator. You must choose to generate to the livedatabase rather than generate the DDL files.
The generator does not automatically execute the DDL it creates. Once the generator has created the DDL it also creates the Reconcile Report and brings up a dialog allowing you to view the DDL, execute the DDL, examine the report or cancel. The report comapres the physical database and the table definitions.
If you examine the DDL you'll see that the generator creates ALTER statements for any tables it finds in the database.

Greetings all. 2 issues:
1. Would like to know the physical interface of the hard drive inside the case of this Toshiba External USB drive (my model HDDR640E04XK for black case), whether SATA or IDE/ATA. Of course, this isn't on the Toshiba website anywhere.

Compare Physical model

I am a new user here...
I just created my first model in SQL Developer data modeler .... I have been happy so far....
Question is: is there a way to compare physical model changes to Dataabase schema and generage DDL STMT?
Scenario: I created a relational schema and physical model in data modeler and generaged DDL script which I ran in to new schema... and created a working environment... for the applcation.
Now i made some Foreign key to initially defferred and saved data model. But when I compare this updated foreign key (physical model changes) changes to DB.... it doesn't show it being changed.
I just want to know if I am missing anything here.

Data modeler version: 3.1.1.703 ( just got new version to see if this one fixes my problem... but still not help)

I am sure there are many users like me who created their data model using Data modeler and configured initial physical model properties..... and successfully created their database .... and also want to use this too to configure further chagnes in data model and have them merged with DB.....

Physical Inventory with serial numbers

Hi friends,
we are trying to post physical inventory with materials having serial numbers.
However during post the system gives 2 errors.
1)
Stock data of serial number 2 not suitable for movement
Message no. IO231
"The current stock information for the serial number 2 contradicts the stock information of the movement to be posted... "
2)
Serial number 2 cannot be used here
Message no. IO201
"You have entered a serial number already present in the system..."
Let me try to explain the situation.
For example we have two storage locations.
A material, say SERIAL, have some stocks in one storage location, say 0001, with serial numbers.
Assume that in the system serial number 2 of the material SERIAL is in the storage location 0001.
However, when physically counted, this serial number 2 shows up in the storage location 0002.
Therefore we would like to enter count for the storage location 0002 to post the serial number 2.
Doing so, we get the errors above.
Is there any solution to that problem? Thanks in advance.

yes the stock transfer between storage locations or removal first from storage location 0001 with pyhsical inverntory can be done in the system. However I wonder is there any better way to do this, without making any abap development.
I would like to make a count for the storage location 0002 as in our case (or this can be a customer consigment either in another case). Here I expect the serial number 2 will be removed from storage location 0001 and will be placed in sorage location 0002 at the same time. Do you know any way of doing this?

Good iphone car mount that works with case?

I need a car mount for my iPhone so that I can use the phone's GPS app. I've looked around and so far I can only find mounts that work for iPhones without any case.
I would rather not have to remove the case everytime I got in my car, so are there any recommended mounts out there that work for phones with cases?

Griffin makes an FM/lighter mounted model, which has several bottom mounting brackets, to fit several phone models. I tested it out today, but the ipod buttons on the model don't work correctly, and FM was spotty to awful, as always on these type of setups. It did hold my naked cellphone well, and wish it had worked as advertised - cost about $100 at Best Buy.
Belking has a similar model (about $70 at Best Buy), without the FM transmitter, also on a lighter stalk, which may work, since it grips the top of the phone with a wider clip, made to adapt to case thicknesses, I presume. I have not tried out this model, but may do so, since I have never found a single FM transmitter that works well - too much static, fading in and out, etc.
Is there anyone who can recommend a lighter mounted (on a flexible stalk) charger for the iphone, that has a stalk long enough to accommodate any rental car, I would very much appreciate it.

FSCM SAP 5.0 Dispute Management-record and case model-dispute cas model.xml

I am using the W21: Dipsute Management Building Block Configuration Guide.doc
At the first step, creating a case record model, the configuration guide refers to a file:
6.     In the toolbar of the Modeler in the upper middle section select Model >> Load local file and open the file - dispute case model.xml -.
I do not have this file available, does anyone have any idea how to resolve this?

-     Is this file necessary, to create a case record model

Hi Santiago,
This was tricky for me too. Execute tran UDM_DISPUTE. Change your RMS ID (left side, middle box, icon with two overlapping squares) to UDM_DISPUTE. In the same box, expand Record and Case Record Models. Double click on Modeler for Case Records in Dispute Management. This brings up a search box. Click on execute Search. Double click on the Dispute Management entry in the lower box. This gives you the standard model. You can download this, using the Other Model Functions.
Then change to your custom RMS ID (ex. ZUDM_DISPUTE). Expand Record and Case Record Models. Right click on Modeler for Case Records in Dispute Management and select Create. Then upload the standard model into your RMS. Then you can customize the model as you wish. Hope that helps!

CLOB with case statement not working getting error

Can anyone help on this
I write this sql
select Case when to_clob(PROPERTY) = 'is_intradesk=Y' then 'Internal' end
from JPM_CP;
Where PROPERTY column is clob column and its giving the error "ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected - got CLOB"
Is it not possible to use clob columns with case or decode !

Its working but it does not fulfill my purpose
In you answer it is looking for position right! means, does the column contain the value('Intradesk=Y' ) or not. means
I am looking for exact match with CLOB column values, that is Clob column(PROPERTY) contains the exact value that value which I am comparing with i.e 'Intradesk=Y'
I need this

Still need help with case sensitive strings

Hello guy! Sorry to trouble you with the same problem again,
but i still need help!
"I am trying to create a scrypt that will compare a String
with an editable text that the user should type to match that
String. I was able to do that, but the problem is that is not case
sensitive, even with the adobe help telling me that strings are

If you put each item that you are comparing into a list, it
magically
makes it case sensitive. Just put list brackets around each
item.

The = operator is not case-sensitive when used on strings,
but the < and > operators are case-sensitive.
So another way to do this is to check if the string is
neither greater than nor less than the target string:

-- ignore
else if vExpected > vInput then
-- ignore
else
-- vExpected is a case-sensitive match for vInput

The first solution does in fact work and is probably the most
efficient way
of doing it. You can verify that it works by starting with a
new director
movie and adding a field named "t:texto1" into the cast with
the text
"Residencial Serra Verde" in the field. Next type the
following command in
the message window and press Enter
put [field "t:texto1"] = ["Residencial Serra Verde"]
You will see it return 1 which means True. Next, make the R
in the field
lower case and execute the command in the message window, it
will return 0
(true).
Now that you know this works, you need to dig deeper in your
code to find
what the problem is. Any more info you can supply?

Comparing a value with NULL

A funny thing is happening to me. Is it only in oracle 9i or in every version.
I am working on a state project on Data Warehousing and faced a small BUG. Here is the sample code.
DECLARE
v_Var varchar2(10) := 'a';
v_Null varchar2(10) := null;
BEGIN
     IF v_Var != v_Null THEN
          DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('First: Not equal');
     ELSE
          DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('First: Equal');
     END IF;
     IF v_Var = v_Null THEN
          DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('Second: Equal');
     ELSE
          DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('Second: Not equal');
     END IF;
END;
This anonymous block should return Not Equal for both the statements, but unfortunately it returns Equal for the First and Not equal for the Second.
Is this a BUG?
Is this happening only in version 9i (I use version 9.2.0.1.0)?

In this case I can go with the second statement as any way it returns Not equal
Here is the modified actual statement which I am using in my procedure and now it works.
I have modified the Inner IF by adding ELSE part, comparing with = (Earlier !=) and passing the variable assign to the ELSE part.

How can Quest QDesigner read the .cdm (conceptual data models) and the .pdm (physical data models) from QDesigner.

Fan Runs With Case Open Bad Heat Sensor?

I have an HP Pavilion 670y. I have a fan that runs for long periods of time and then stops and then starts again. I decided to run my computer with the case open to make sure which fan was running before buying a new power supply if it was that fan. Found it was the lower fan. The fan has less stops and starts with the case open but still has periods where it runs for a few minutes and then stops and starts. Since I have the case open I can't see how the computer could be overhaeting. Could it be a bad heat sensor? If it is can the heat sensor be replaced or is it hardwired?

The HP support does not find a PC with that model number, however, units with a number of that nature of number are usually older units.
It is not clear as to what fan is considered the "lower fan". The case fan may do as indicated, but a fan on the CPU or video card do not normally cycle. Maybe include a picture? Click on the tree icon next to the chain "link" or ladder "video" icon to post a picture.

SSRS report with tabular model – MDX query CoalesceEmpty function does not return the provided string value

I created following calculated member in MDX query. I am using it in one of the report parameter in dataset (single select dropdown list as report parameter).
WITH MEMBER [Measures].[ParameterCaption] AS
CoalesceEmpty([Customer].[National Account Code].CURRENTMEMBER.MEMBER_CAPTION,'None')
I would like to display 'None' text at the top of the dropdown list values. So that when user selects 'None' then this parameter will not considered in MDX query else the selected National Account Code will be considered to filter report data. But,
the above return blank/empty value for [Customer].[National Account Code].& member though I specified 'None' as text in CoalesceEmpty function. Any advice would be appreciated.

SQL Developer with Data Modeler, No Design Menu Option

Using SQL Developer 3.0.04 Build MAIN-04.34 with Data Modeler. I have created a logical design and wish to forward engineer this to a relational model.
I cannot seem to find the Design Menu option to use the >> Engineer to Relational Model option which is available under the Design Menu on the Stand Alone version of SQL Developer Data Modeler.
Have checked the following locations:
Tools -> Data Modeler
View -> Data Modeler
File -> Data Modeler
Right Click on my Logical Design
I have ensure that all my entities have the Engineer To property set to a valid Relational Model.
Is this a bug or am I missing a menu option / configuration setting?
