Comparing two words in different lines

hi frens, please help me.
let say each line has 2 words
<word1> <word2>
what i am going to do is to compare the first word for each line. for example, let say this is the input file:
hello world
baby good
hello baby
good stuff
hello good
good job
what i want for the output is:
hello = world; baby; good
baby = good
good = stuff; job
so it compares the prefix, if equals, then just print the second words behind. they are stored in hash table. thanks.

  • How to compare two database on different servers

    hi,
    I want to compare two database on different servers in oracle.first i want to ckechk thier structures and then data.i m using oracle 10.2.0.plz help me out
    Thanks in advance

    In terms of structures, there are various tools out there that can do this, such as TOAD which can do a database compare.
    In terms of data comparisons, that will depend on what sort of results you are expecting to see. I'm sure some tools will do it for you, but it can be just as easy to write your own comparison using a database link from one database to the other.

  • Comparing two numbers with different formats

    Dear Java developers
    I am trying to compare two numbers but they have different formats. long x = 8981261369, Object obj = "8,981,261,369".
    I am trying to see if this two values are equal which is the case in the example above except one has a thousand separator but not sure how to do that.
    How can I lose the thousand separator and just compare them as two long values.
    Your input will be much appreciated
    Thanks

    iu433 wrote:
    I need a generic way of doing this. Because sometimes the Object does not have a thousand separator. Can i use some kind of NumberFormat to do this.You'll need to know what formats the string (not the number--as already mentioned, numbers don't have formats) can have, and then try them one by one.
    Of course, there can be some ambiguity. Does "123,456" represent one hundred twenty three thousand four hundred fifty six, or is that comma a decimal separator, and it represents one hundred twenty three and four hundred fifty six thousandths?
    The point is, you have to have a clear definition of what formats are allowed and how to determine which one it is. There's no magic way for Java to do that for you.

  • Compare two dates in different format.

    Hi
    I want to compare two dates....one of which is in the timeStamp format ("yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss")
    and the other is in java.util.Date i.e Tue Oct 11 10:22:47 GMT+05:30 2005
    Do I have to tokenise and then compare them.Is there any better approach?
    I want to find out which is greater/smaller one.
    Pls help.

    I would convert both to Date and compare them. To convert String to Date check java.text.SimpleDateFormat and its parse(...) method.

  • Compare two dateTime with different timezone

    HI, All,
    I found a strange thing when compare two dateTime in BPEL;
    In my BPEL process, client passed a date time to the process , and the process compare the date time with current data time.
    1.client pass cutoffDate to process
    2. in a switch activity, I compare cutoffDate with current date. code:
    bpws:getVariableData('cutoffDate')<=xpath20:add-dayTimeDuration-to-dateTime()
    but seems this compare ignored the timezone information.
    For example:
    cutoffDate=2010-03-05T06:17:38.838+00:00
    currentDate=2010-03-05T14:10:38.838+08:00 this time =2010-03-05T06:10:38.838+00:00
    but cutoffDate<currentDate == true... seems it ignored the timezone info..
    This is a bug or I used a wrong compare function?
    Thanks.

  • Compare two tables on different server without using Linked Servers

    I have an SSIS package that needs to compare a table to another table on another server.  Then only delete data from the first table if it exists in the second table.
    I know this is possible with Linked Servers but we are doing away with them in my company.  Is there a way inside of SSIS to do this?
    Oh and I can't use a Data Flow since I don't know the table names or columns at run time (the whole package is dynamic) so I can't map the columns ahead of time.
    So no MERGE JOIN unless it can be used outside of a Data Flow.

    You 'll have to use the Data Flow Transformation, thing is, given the constraints, your only option seems to be in generating the package programmatically (using code).
    The type of a program would be a Windows Console. The program would expect a few parameters as the source and target tables along with any necessary connection parameters.
    Then use the merge join (being the easiest to code in) in an Execute SQL Task component.
    Examples of coding packages:
    Samples for creating SSIS packages programmatically
    PS: I can tell you, given your circumstances, at the very minimum the impact on the bottom line of your company is brittle apps accompanied with expensive maintenance which translates into reduced ROI from your tooling.
    Arthur My Blog
    The package is table driven and is a dynamic archival process.  The end user just fills in the framework table and the package archives data from within a certain time range.  The table can exist on any server, any database.
    That part is done.  The part that still needs to be accomplished is to delete data out of the base table since it is archived.  I need a safe way of doing this and so thought to compare the archive table against the base table.  Because they
    can exist anywhere and can have any name I am not sure how to do this without Linked Servers.  That being said we will not have Linked Servers for this.
    Is there another safe way to delete data out of the base table?

    Satyaki De,
    Java is involving because an Outsourcing new project. The outsourcing company is developing the new application using JSF which invoke an interface java method [depending of the operation: select, update, insert] and them invoke the PLSQL API to precess tha operation.
    In the case I already wrote here, the issue is this:
    The user search for a specific data using the interface. The java method send a request for these operation through the API. the PLSQL process the request and return a beam, with all the column the user look for.
    The user see the information in the application windows. Assuming the user wants to change some data, he modify just one field [lets say telephone number] and press the update button. The application process the request using a different method, which invoke a different function within the PLSQL API.
    Once the information is returning to the API, I must know if at least one field change its value. So I was thinking to get the beam with the data before it was changed and compare it with the beam with the changing data.
    If current_beam = new_beam
    then
    update
    else
    no change to process
    end if;

  • Compare two tables having different number of rows based on 2 columns

    Hi,

    I want those records from table a in which field1 of table a is not matching to field1 of table b and field2 of table b not matching to field2 of table b, but i also want the bifurcation of records as whether field 1 is not matching, field 2 is not matching or both fields 1 & 2 are not matching.
    e.g.

    1 6 Field 2 not mtchng
    2 5 Field 1 not mtchng

  • How to compare two fields from different list sharepoint designer?

    hi All,
    I need to add a value to a field using SharePoint designer workflow. The value is from another column.
    for example list A has the field has loginID,  and another list B has loginID  amd another column called Desig.
    i need to compare both and get the Desig field and store it to a column. how do i do that in sharePoint Designer workflow.

    Hi,
    you can create a workflow variable ex.Test. and add an action set Workflow variable. Then you have to set this variable value using lookUps. something like(in look up window)
    Data source: Choose List B
    Field from source: Choose Desig
    Then under find the list item
    Field: Choose login Id
    Value :(Again open lookup window by clicking "fx") and in this window choose
        data Source: List A
      field from source :LoginId
    and click ok.
    attached is the image for your reference. (I am using other lists,you can change appropriately )

  • Comparing two Micro soft word files

    Hello i want to compare two word files & i want to store the changes to some ztable .
    Problem what i am facing is when i use Gui_upload to upload data from both files i am getting data in encrypted form not able to compare it .
    please suggest some method/function module to compare two files & track the changes done .
    Its very urgent!

    Hello Mrutyunjaya Tripathy ,
    thanks for replying me .
    store the data of word file in a text file i.e u mean to say it manually .
    IS this what u mean whatever data i have in word file i should save this in text file & then compare it I know this works but users wont accept that ie its not user friendly.
    My requirement is i have to open word file save it  with diff name & save the changes to data base.
    1)So could you suggest me some way that convert word  file to text file  using some function module.
    2)Read data from word file so that data comes in proper  manner ie in normal text.
    3)some other means to compare word files without creating any extra notepad manually.because it has to be used periodically.

  • BUG? BRIDGE statement to compare two tables

    Hello,
    I tried to compare two tables in different dbs and remembered a post about Cross Connectin Queries
    http://barrymcgillin.blogspot.com/2010/11/cross-connection-queries.html
    BRIDGE temparb AS "EB05 01"
    (SELECT * FROM arb)
    (SELECT * FROM temparb
    MINUS
    SELECT * FROM arb
    UNION ALL
    (SELECT * FROM arb
    MINUS
    SELECT * FROM temparb
    );I would expect to get the differences between the table arb in my current schema and the table arb alias temparb in the other db. Yet it seems, that in this case only the table in my current schema is read.
    I materialize the BRIDGE table with
    BRIDGE temparb AS "EB05 01"
    (SELECT * FROM arb)and select the value I know to be only in the remote schema
    SELECT id FROM temparb WHERE id = 2562;
    SELECT id FROM arb WHERE id = 2562;Both times I get no result. I even tried to use aliases on the table, same result. Tested in 3.0 and 3.1 EA3.
    Has anyone tried this before?
    Regards
    Marcus

    Hi Marcus,
    Have you tried it without the double quotes around the connection name?
    I have a connection called
    system_local
    which I run the following command in
    drop table testbridge_remote;
    drop table testdbrige;
    create table testbridge(col1 int);
    insert into testbridge values (1);
    insert into testbridge values (2);
    insert into testbridge values (3);
    commit;
    I have a connection called
    Connection Name With Space
    which I run the following in
    drop table testdbrige;
    create table testbridge(col1 int);
    insert into testbridge values (4);
    insert into testbridge values (5);
    insert into testbridge values (3);
    commit;
    Then in the system_local connection/worksheet I can run the following statement
    BRIDGE testbridge_remote as Connection Name With Space(select * from testbridge)
    +(SELECT * FROM testbridge_remote+
    MINUS
    SELECT * FROM testbridge
    +)+
    UNION ALL
    +(SELECT * FROM testbridge+
    MINUS
    SELECT * FROM testbridge_remote
    +);+
    It works ok.
    Returning rows in the remote table not in the local table , and rows in the local table not in the remote table .

  • How to compare two elements?

    Hi Brothers,
    How can I compare two nodelements from different nodes if they have the same content?
    I tried
    boolean elementExists(IE_CustomerElement element){
           for (int i=0; i < wdContext.nodeChangedCustomerRows().size(); i++){
                if(element.equals(wdContext.nodeChangedCustomerRows().
                                    currentChangedCustomerRowsElement())){
                     return true;
           return false;
    But this doesn't work since element may be from a different node and thus is not equal to wdContext.nodeChangedCustomerRows().currentChangedCustomerRowsElement()
    Both elements have the same attributes, though...
    Any ideas? Thanks, Johannes

    Johannes,
    Object.equals method returns true only if both the arguments point to same object. So,
    element.equals(wdContext.nodeChangedCustomerRows().currentChangedCustomerRowsElement()
    will be true only if both element and nodeChangedCustomerRows().currentChangedCustomerRowsElement() refer to same object, which is not the case here.
    You'll need to do attribute comparison to see if the elements are equal. Something like this might work for you.
    boolean elementExists(IE_CustomerElement element)
           for (int i=0; i < wdContext.nodeChangedCustomerRows().size(); i++)
                if((element.Attribute1.equalsIgnoreCase(wdContext.nodeChangedCustomerRows().currentChangedCustomerRowsElement().Attribute1))&&
                   (element.Attribute2.equalsIgnoreCase(wdContext.nodeChangedCustomerRows().currentChangedCustomerRowsElement().Attribute2))&&
                   (element.Attribute3.equalsIgnoreCase(wdContext.nodeChangedCustomerRows().currentChangedCustomerRowsElement().Attribute3))
                          & so on....
                     return true;
           return false;
    There might be better ways to do this, let me know if you come across one.
    Hope this helps.
    Vishwas.
