Compatibility with Office on Windows

Like most of us (I expect) who read these forum pages I use Windows / PC at work and Mac at home. Can anyone tell me does the iPhone REALLY work with and easily sync to MS Office outlook / Calendar etc suite

Well, I guess I'm the "freak" here. I don't use Mac at home. I've been a PC user for years, both at work and home. I use Microsoft Office Professional Suite, and am currently on Outlook 2003. My iPhone has seemlessly synced to both my contacts and my calendar with absolutely no issues whatsoever. I've even taken it and watched Outlook change during a sync process with an appointment I created in the iPhone, just to show my teenager how it works.
Hope this helps you.

  • Is LiveCycle ES4 compatable with Office 2013?

My network was recently upgraded to Microsoft Office 2013 and I have a LiveCycle user that reports she can no longer import documents from Word.  She is still able to create a document from scratch though.  We have un-installed and re-installed both Office and LiveCycle on her machine.  She is the only LiveCycle user I have, so I am unable to tell if it's an issue with her machine or with Office 2013.  Are there any known compatablilty issue with LiveCycle ES4 and Word 2013?

    Hello There,
I am sorry for that but Captivate is not compatible with Office 2013.
Please check the link for the compatibility between Captivate and Microsoft office: http://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/using/microsoft-powerpoint.html

  • Compatibility with Powerpoint on Windows

    Hi,
I use iWork mainly for page layout work in iWork but I have been trying out Keynote lately. I am a scientist doing my PhD and I was toying with the idea of making my confirmation seminar in Keynote because it is so much better than powerpoint. The problem is I have to do the presentation on a Windows XP machine with Office XP. I just wanted to know if I will run into any problems when exporting to a .ppt file. I am going to stick to the main Windows fonts and I think I will steer clear of any fancy transitions in case they don't show up.
Is there anything else I need to know? Any graphics formats that won't work and any other features I should avoid? I need to insert some graphs but Keynote's beautiful graphs look a bit blurry in Powerpoint 2004. I was thinking of making my graphs in Graphpad Prism anyway.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ben

One more thing I was wondering, do GIF files support transparency and vector data? I have been working on a graph in the program Prism on Windows. This program can export directly to powerpoint- from what I can tell, it sends the graph as a .pdf image into a new slide. The graph looks great on Windows when I do this but does not appear at all in Powerpoint 2004 on the mac.
Keynote actually shows the graph correctly, but if I then work on it in keynote and export to Powerpoint again, keynote converts the image to a .png file which will work in powerpoint on the mac but looks a bit blurry. The graph then appears black when I re-open it in windows! What a nightmare!
Graphpad prism does have other export options but I'm not sure which would be the best to preserve the appearance (transparent background) as well as cross-platform portibility. The options are:
EMF, WMF, PDF, EPS, TIF, JPG, PNG, BMP, PCX.
I thought maybe I could try TIF, then use a program like graphic converter to change it to a GIF file?

  • Acrobat 9 compatibility with Office 2010?

Am I correct in understanding that Acrob
at Pro 9.4.5 is not compatible with Office 2010 and that I need to upgrade to AcrobatX to provide the same functionality that existed between Office 2007 and Acrobat 9? I hope this not the case. As a small business, shelling out another $200 for a upgrade after purchasing a product a year ago is not the way to keep clients happy.

Yes, you will need to upgrade. You purchased an upgrade to Office 2010. It requires an upgrade to Acrobat for the same compatibility. However, if you just need plain pdf files, you can print to PDF that doesn't require an upgrade to Acrobat.

  • LabView database connectivity toolkit 1.0.1 compatibility with MS-ACCESS 2010 / Labview report generation toolkit for Office 1.1.3 compatibility with Office 2010

In the very near future we will be forced to upgrade to Office 2010 Company wide and I am a little concerned with some of our older test platforms that have applications built in LabView 8.2.1.  These applications save data to MS-ACCESS 2000 databases using the LabView database connectivity toolkit 1.0.1.  Office 2003 is also loaded on these test platforms with all test reports generated using the LabView report generation toolkit for Office 1.1.3.
I have not gotten my hands on a copy of Office 2010 yet to see if there will be any compatibility issues.  Does anyone have any experience in this area?

The MS-Access part is fairly well isolated through the ADO interface LabVIEW uses. The only possible problems there IMHO are difficulties with possible Acess compatibilities itself such as an example, SQL statement you may have invoked directly through the ADO interface. Maybe you did use a depreciated command back then that has since been removed. As long as the only thing you do are simple INSERT and SELECT statements only, I would expect it to just keep working.
The Report Generation interface is a different beast. Microsoft manages to change the Automation interface with every version of office in a way that strongly binding applications like LabVIEW break on. There is no good way around that except not changing those methods, but that is a cause that has been lost already. You will certainly have to verify the version dependant Report Generation API VIs to still work with Office 2010 and most likely you will have to make some changes to those VIs to make them work again with the modified ActiveX interface of Office 2010. Note, that I have no experience with porting report generation to Office 2010 but I have had some headaches from porting that between Office 97, 2000, 2003, and 2007.

  • Project Server 2010 compatibility with IE11 and Windows 8.1

    Hi All!
Maybe a silly question since compatibility is always asked about older versions, but here is my question:
Is Project Server 2010 compatible with IE11 and Windows 8.1?
I personnaly tested with IE11 and it seems to be ok. All views and pages can be opened with IE11.
    But what about windows 8.1?
Has Microsoft done any communication about this?
Thanks in advance for your helps.

I am seeing a minor issue with the timesheet grid after users are upgraded from IE8 to IE11.
We are using Project Server 2010 with SP1 and Oct 2013 CU.
When some users (using IE11) switches between filters or views in the Timesheet page, the grid shrinks making to content un readable.  The only way to get it back is to refresh the page. After a refresh, the grid returns to normal size, but the pane
divider is too far to the left and always must be dragged to the right in order to see the task names in the left grid.

  • Font compatibility with Office (for Mac and Windows)

    Hi,
Despite extensive searching, I'm struggling with a font compatibility issue between my Mac and my colleagues' PCs. The main points in order:
The fonts work correctly on both my Mac and other PCs.
The font in question is HelveticaNeueLT Std, rolled up into which are several different weights. The files are OTF files. The same files install without any problems on all the computers in question (and show up in Font Book). And the font can be used successfully:
    - in Keynote, I select Helvetica Neue LT Std, and underneath choose whichever weight I want
    - on PCs, the font and weight can be selected from the drop-down list in MS Office.
    - in Office for Mac 2016 (Preview), I cannot select the font from the drop-down list, but can hit Cmd+T, and then select the appropriate font and weight under 'Latin text font'. What is odd is that in the dropdown list, only a particular weight/typeface is shown:
As this is a preview version, I wouldn't expect Office to work perfectly just yet...
When a file is created on a PC, it works fine on my Mac.
Every file I have attempted to open that was created on a PC, and using these fonts, works fine. The fonts display correctly (i.e. including the correct weights), and I can work with the document without any problems. The only odd bit: sometimes in the dropdown box on my Mac it then says (null):
Whereas at other times, the font name shows correctly:
Both of those examples were created using the 'Thin' weight of HelveticaNeueLt Std. I can't see any pattern as to what causes this inconstency.
The problem is that what I create on my Mac shows incorrectly on a PC.
If I create anything using Office 2016 or Keynote, selecting the preferred weight as described above, it shows just fine on my Mac. But when I send the PPTX file to a PC, all weights look identical (it looks as though the PC has just displayed everything in a standard weight). This is the problem I am trying to solve.
To try to get around this, I tried the process of removing the Helvetica/Helvetica Neue .dfont files that come with the Mac - but this didn't work and caused several other problems. Besides, the font I'm trying to get to use as intended has a different name.
All help would be greatly appreciated - my thanks in advance.
    John

Thanks Kappy and apologies if it is inappropriate - but just to clarify, my main question is whether fonts used in Keynote should be compatible with other software (in this case Office running on Windows). The Office for Mac Preview is a bit of a red herring but I thought it should be mentioned.
I tried to clarify my first post, but it didn't work. What I wanted to add was simply whether Keynote handles fonts in a way that other pieces of software struggle to read - despite the font itself working perfectly in both environments.

  • Printer driver hangs when printing with Office 2013/Windows 8 64 bit

    Printer: HP Color LaserJet CM1312nfi
Printer Driver: V5.1 (up to date, downloaded from HP support website) or Generic V5.6
    OS: Windows 8 Professional 64bit
When I try to print a certain Excel document with Excel 2013 and printer driver V5.1, the program hangs and needs to be terminated via task manager. This happens always with the same document, but not with all documents. The program hangs also when opening the print preview for the same document.
The same document prints fine with the generic printer driver V5.6 and with the driver that comes with Windows 8.
The same document prints fine with driver V5.1 under Windows 7 and Office 2010. The combination Windows 7/Office 2013 was not tested. The combination Windows 8/Office 2010 was also not tested.
When I try to print an empty document with Word 2013 and generic printer driver V5.6, the program hangs and needs to be terminated via task manager.
My conclusion is that the HP printer drivers have a problem with either Windows 8 or Office 2013 or a combination of both.
The printer driver that comes with Windows 8 and is automatically installed is useful as a temporary workaround, but it lacks certain options, e.g. manual duplex.
On request, I am ready to send the Excel document by e-mail for verification of the problem.
Any help or suggestions will be very much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Uli

From what you describe you are having issues printing from MS Office. Have you had trouble printing from other resources on your computer (e.g. from the internet or another program)? The first thing I am going to suggest is that we start by uninstalling and reinstalling the printer from the resources available online.
First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it (this is important). Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.

    Hi Shashank,
Just as Dominic's share, Microsoft Office 2003 suites and applications are not compatible with Windows 8 and later Operating System.
I suggest you upgrade your Office version. Microsoft Office 2013 could work on Windows 8.1 seamlessly.

  • X5 Compatibility with Office 2003

    Hello everyone,
This morning I installed X5 with .02 Update on a new computer
that has Windows XP and Office 2003. I have Admin Rights. Today was
to mark the conversion of my Winhelp projects to HTML. I opened
RoboHelp HTML and proceeded to import the HPJ, which led to the
"Robohelp has encountered an error and needs to close" message. I
tried again and got the same thing. I uninstalled/reinstalled and
tried again. Same thing. I then tried to create a new project. I
filled in all the blanks and when I clicked Finish, I got the same
    message.
I know Word 2003 hasn't played very well with RoboHelp for
Word in the past, but is it the same with RoboHelp HTML? I'm truly
    stumped
    Thanks for any input.
    Jennifer

I would suggest then that the problem is related to your
project. Have you tried rebooting your PC and then trying to create
a new project - i.e. before you've tried converting your HPJ? If
that works it definitely is your project. In that case I'd try
separating the RTF file into smaller RTF files and import them one
at a time. If you hit the same problem you know where your problem
in. Repeat this exercise until you narrow the problem down enough.
    Best of luck.

We are planning to upgrade to Microsoft Office 2013 SP1. But we are planning to retain Lync 2010 in place. Would it cause any compatibility issues with the outlook add-in? Conversation history? on schedule Lync Meeting?

    Vas

Those should work, are you upgrading the client to 2013 as well and keeping the 2010 back end server? If so, this is supported and very compatible with a caveat found in this article: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj204672.aspx If you're keeping
the 2010 Lync client (you don't have to), then you should be fine as well. Nothing will reassure you like a quick test on one of your own machines though. :)
