'compc' Clarification, please

I am a little confused about syntax for the command-line
component compiler, compc. Let's say I would like to build a .swc
library from the following packages:
components/directory1/package1.as
components/directory1/package2.as
components/directory2/package3.as
components/package4.as
What necessary compiler options should I include? Could
someone give me an example compc command based on the above package
tree?
Thanks
Edit: I apologize: I should post this in an ActionScript
forum.

Hi -
I have read all the instructions and followed all the
examples.. I was able to read all the classes in my classes and
component directory. However, I keep getting '[compc] Error: could
not find source for class src.classes:ArrowSeperatorSkin'..
errors..
following is the build file I have. Please help..thx

  • 1Z0-146 or 1Z1-144? clarification please

I passed the following certification exams -
    1) 1Z0-147 - Program with PL/SQL exam first and
    2) 1Z0-051 - Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I exam next.
Looking at the certification path for Oracle Advanced PL/SQL Developer Certified Professional, I see that I can either write 1Z0-146 - Oracle 11g Advanced PL/SQL OR the beta 1Z1-144 exam Oracle Database 11g: Program with PL/SQL. Am I correct in this assumption or am I allowed only to take 1Z0-146 to get the Oracle Advanced PL/SQL Developer Certified Professional ?
The certification path diagrams look clear enough. But I am a bit confused with the plus signs in one path diagram versus the forward arrows in another diagram, if that makes any sense at all.
I read elsewhere that the order in which I take the exams (or the hands-on course, if any) does not matter, so I decided I would ask the forum.
I would much appreciate any clarification on this point.

Could you please clarify as I have cleared 1z0-051 and want to go for OCP developer track but get confused whether I should go for 1z0-147 or 1z1-144(beta). Well as I have said many times I think 1z0-144 is a more modern exam and the topics are better chosen.
Your problem, as you are aware, is that when 1z0-144 beta finishes which should be 2009-09-10, (could slip again I suppose, but perhaps unlikely) and perhaps 2009-12-01 or so, 12 weeks later when production exam emerges
Can I go first for 1z0-146 and then later on for 1z0-144 , is it feasable? It is possilbe to do this, but your certification will not be approved until you have completed both.

    Thanks for your answers.
It is not so nmuch that you are confused, it is that you have a choice and none of the options are perfect.

  • Leaving it on v.s. leaving it off confusion (i need clarification please!)

    Guys,
recently, I have read in a forum saying that it is more healthy for a computer running mac to be stayed on for a long period of time rather than turning it on and off everytime you want to use it. I mean, they prefer to put it in sleep or leave it on rather than turn it off...
They are saying that this is more efficient for Mac... I'm confused... Please give me clarifications...
    thanks a lot!

That's probably a safe way to go, unless you use your portable as a
production machine; then I know of Mac columnists who keep some
of their Mac portables up and running for up to 16 days without a re-
start... at a desk and on a power adapter with adequate ventilation.
Some users keep them plugged-in, too; and let them sleep, to only shut
them off when traveling long distances where the computer would be in
a case. In that instance, you'd probably want to turn it off due to battery
life and heat considerations. Never let one sleep in a closed case or
where heat could become a big problem; ventilation is important.
As for using a portable as a desktop machine, it can be run for a long
time; but like many things, if you don't need to use it, turn it off. I have
a desktop machine that sometimes stays on all day; but given power
stability issues and random utility outages, I try to keep mine off when
I won't be using it... least the power company help its demise.
[That call-center must have someone occasionally do system
maintenance and let the day/week/month scripts run via an-
other means; such as using OnyX to do such chores; other
wise, a machine "on" all the time, not allowed to sleep, would
automatically do built-in routines during those night hours.]

  • CIS Scanning to folder setup - Clarification please

    Hi
I'm very new to Xerox network scanning and am hoping for a little clarification on the setup process.
I'm looking at setting up scanning for individual members of staff on a WorkCentre 7556.
At the moment there are 4 Templates set up under 'Scan' in Centreware Internet Services (which I'll call CIS if it's ok...).
Each is for a department and is scanning to a share on a machine on the same subnet using smb.
There are no file repositories set up under CIS Properties->Services->Workflow Scanning->File Repository Setup but the scanning works fine (except that the share host keeps shutting down).
Everywhere I look up scanning in the documentation / on the web it seems to always start off talking about setting up Workflow Scanning  File Repositories.
What I'm wondering is, what essentially is the difference between these and the way it's been done previously by just setting up a Scan template using smb with server, share, and authentication credentials please?
    Many thanks

    Hi Pauliolio,
Thank you for using the Support Forum. The difference is whether you are using FTP vs SMB. Since you are using SMB the repository is a shared directory which you must have set up since your scan is working.  If you have additional questions please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.

  • Understanding the _definst_ folder, I need clarification please

    Hello all,
I understand with FMIS that we place our media files inside the _definst_ folder which is located in another folder (for example, one called 'streams') which is located in the applicaitons folder (Path: .../applications/streams/_definst_ )
Do I understand correctly that _definst_ can be named with any name as opposed to _definst_?
And if this is true, then all I have to do to ensure the video is located is to specify the actual name of the folder (for example: .../applications/streams/motorcycles )?
    UPDATED:
I think I was reading things wrong. In going through Tom Green's tutorial I think I gained more understanding. Please let me know if this is more correct.
The _definst_ folder would be located in this path: .../applications/streams/motorcycles/_definst_
the thought being that the streams folder contains any number of other folders, /motorcycles, /boats, /cars, whatever, and in each of those folders goes a _definst_ folder into which the appropriate media is placed?
I am learning and wanted to make sure I understood this correctly.
    Many thanks in advance!
    Sincerely,
    wordman

_definst_ is primarily used when you don't give your application connection an instance name. So:
rtmp://111.111.111.111/myApplication will connect to the _definst_ (default instance) instance.
    Whereas if you use:
rtmp://111.111.111.111/myApplication/superVideo_v1 will connect to the superVideo_1 instance.
Why would you care? because you can separate out your users to instances. Like rooms in a chat app or something like that. Maybe  you have a set of videos and you want to separate your users out to "paying" and "nonpaying" or something. Then put lower res videos in the non paying folder:
    install dir of FMS/applications/myApplication/streams/nonpaying
    and
    install dir of FMS/applications/myApplication/streams/paying
Kind of thing. There's a whole slew of tutorials here to check out if you haven't seen them yet: http://www.fmsguru.com/tutorials.cfm

  • PAM Clarification Please - Installing Netweaver 7.0 on Win Server 2008 x64

    Hello,
I hope someone here can help clarify SAP's PAM documentation (http://service.sap.com/pam) regarding Netweaver 7.0.  We are currently running EP7SP16 on Windows Server 2003 x32.  We are getting ready to install a whole new batch of portal servers (unrelated to the ones we already have in place) and I was wondering if it was supported, by SAP, to install NW 7.0 on Windows Server 2008 x64.
So, I went to the trusty 'ol PAM to look.  Here is where the confusion started.  It says Windows Server 2003 x64 is supported, but that Windows Server 2008 x64 is not, at least until Sun releases a 64-bit version of their 1.4.2.x JDK.
The reason I'm confused is I don't understand what the difference is between running Sun's 32-bit 1.4.2.x JDK on Server 2003 x64 as opposed to running the same JDK on Server 2008 x64.  Why is 2003 supported and 2008 is not?
    Thanks,
    Tom
p.s. -   Forgot to mention I already read OSS Note #1054740 which talks about 2008, but it didn't really help me in clearing up this question, beyond saying that it does work.

    Hello Markus,
Thanks for the info, but could you clarify it a bit please?  When you say 32bit applications are not supported on Windows 2008, do you mean SAP does not support running 32bit apps on a 64bit operating system?  I ask this because the PAM does not indicate that.  I understand that there is no 64bit 1.4.2 JDK, but the PAM says running Sun's 32bit 1.4.2 JDK on Windows 2003 64bit is supported.  So, why wouldn't the same hold true for Windows 2008 64bit?
    Thanks,
    Tom

  • HD Workflow - Need Some Clarification Please

Apologies for asking another question so soon, but I need some help with my import/export workflow please.
So I've just upgraded to AE CS4 from 6.5 Pro.
I'm doing a show where I'm using XDCAM EX footage with cgi shots and elements, all comped in AE.  The shots will be handed to the editor, who uses FCP, as Quicktime files, I think.  This is where I need some help.
I have read and re-read (several times)  the 'Color Management Workflow in Adobe After Effects CS4' pdf, specifically the 'High Definition Video Workflow' section. I am using a calibrated monitor (regularly calibrated and checked with a Spyder 3 Elite).
I get setting up the AE project to be colour managed to the HDTV (Rec. 709) working space, and I likewise understand using Interpret Footage to colour manage assets that are imported.
Where I'm falling down is outputting the finished shots to QT movies, specifically on two points: the apparent gamma of the output (as I see it in the QT Player), and the data-rate.
I understand setting the output to have the same profile in the Output Module of the Render Queue.  But from there I'm stumped, because the QT outputs don't visually match the AE comp, with almost any codec I try.  I understand there are QT codec issues when outputting from AE - I was reading about those the other day when I was hitting the same problem in AE 6.5.  When I open the QT movie on the desktop (Windows XP Pro) it's invariably alot lighter, lower contrast.  Along with the other issue that the data-rate of the QT output from AE is anything up to 8 times greater than I need.
I tried rendering Animation and PNG movies from AE, then feeding those through the Media Encoder, outputting via H.264 to get an MP4 with the data-rate around 50mbits/sec.  That works on that, but again the movie is pretty washed out and low contrast.
I guess this is pretty fundamental stuff, but I've hit a brick wall over what to do.  I'd appreciate any advice on the workflow to output the finished comps to hand to the editor, as a movie file, QT or whatever.  And obviously knowing that what I see in my AE comp is what he will see on his FCP suite.
    Julian.

Thanks for the additional comments and ideas.
In terms of profile, as I mentioned, the intermediates will be going off to the editor (off-site) for editing on his FCP suite.  I'll stick to working in the prescribed HDTV (Rec. 709) space, and I've given him all the detail I can of how I'm working, but crucially I haven't stood at his edit-suite to see how the stuff looks.
But, he's no newbie, so I'm hoping it'll be OK.
Blasted shame about the H.264 BluRay not being compatible with QT - I thought I had this whole issue beat until that came along.  It's not a matter of disk space here, but the editor is mithering that the intermediates we are testing, in either PNG, or Animation, and a couple of others, are choking his playback.
I'm not sure what to say about that, other than to go down this road of trying to squish these intermediates as low as possible without wrecking the look, hence finding that the DNxHD is providing the best solution.  If it had been a SD project, I might well have tried the native H.264, even over our normal PNG workflow.
So what will play the native H.264 BluRay compressed output?
    Julian.

  • Clarifications please

    Hi
    i require some clarifications
    1)
The application is in servlet and jsp
There is arequirement to report errors to system administrator
by writing errors in a log file
to do that in the catch block i am writing to a text file
my doubt is if many people are accessing concurrently
and get errors then writing to the log file concurrently may
corrupt the log file so synchronization has to be used for the method
    writing to the log file
is that correct on any better solution to report errors to administrator
    2)
    consider
    String str = "hey" + "hello";
should stringbuffer be used in this
case or does the compilier compiles with stringbuffer usage
and we need not use stringbuffer
    3)
when we use servlet as a controller we use getRequestDispatcher().forward()
to transfer control to different pages
here the problem is that the url at the top of browser
will not have the actual url of the
page dispalyed and we have to use request.getRequestURI()
to get the actual url of the page displayed
    is that not a disadvantage
    regards
    Javid

    1) JavaIO is synchronized all by itself. You don't have to worry about this. (Java 1.4 changes this somewhat.)However, you should carefully consider what and how much you are logging to this text file. JavaIO is relatively slow (due to synchronization) meaning the more you log, the slower your application. In addition, have you considered things like rolling files? How large will you let your log file get? If it runs for a year (or 6 months or whatever) you could end up with a VERY large log file. This means slower access and less disk space. Consider looking at an existing log pacakge (such as log4j by the jakarta group).
    2) In general the "+" operator is slower than using a StringBuffer. For just one concatentation, i.e. "this" + "that", it doesn't matter which you use. Any more than one and you should probably use StringBuffer. For repetitive concatenation, i.e. in a for loop, you should definately use StringBuffer.
    3) I will refer you to another topic and an answer I posted there for this point: http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?thread=226695&forum=33&message=803659. In short, no this is not a disadvantage and yes this is what it's supposed to do.
    Hope this helps.

  • Streaming Server, Interactive Server, Development Server - can I get some clarification please?

I've read the Flash Media Server 3.5 developer's guide and
have perused various parts of the 3.5 Server-Side language
reference, and now I am confused as to what functionality is
    available to which server products.
For example, the XMLSocket class says its available to the
"Flash Media Server 2". The name of the streaming server product is
"Flash Media Streaming Server" and the other server product is the
"Flash Media Interactive Server". So does that mean XMLSocket is
    applicable to both?
Elsewhere in the language reference, the Netstream.time is
said to be available to the "Flash Media Interactive Server" and
the "Flash Media Development Server". OK, the first one is pretty
clear, but I don't see anywhere on the Adobe site for the "Flash
Media Development Server". Is that the "Flash Media Streaming
Server" that Adobe allows to be downloaded for development? If
that's the case, then shouldn't Netstream.time also be available
for the "Flash Media Streaming Server"? In any case, this
functionality seems pretty crucial to writing applications for
streaming, why would it not be available?
What I'm gettting at is that I'm trying to determine which
server products our company needs for the project we are embarking
on. The project is paid live streaming that authenticates a user,
keeps track of his time viewing live streams, keeps track of which
live stream he views, disconnects them when they run out of paid
time, sends a message to them that they have run out of time, and
shows them their time as it is ticking down.
Can someone please clarify on the server components
    needed?

If you want live streaming, authentication, and server side
application logic, you want FMIS (interactive server).
The development server has all the features of FMIS enabled
but a limit of 10 connections. (eula is also different)

  • Msi P45 Platinum Power Connections ? Clarification please.

Hi, I'm asking does anybody know weather the ATX 12V power connector on the p45 for the CPU, can be used with all 8 pins as 4 of them have a plastic cover over them, is it safe to remove the cover and insert a 8 pin supply to them?
Also JPWR1 12V connection to PCIEX16 Graphics card, can that also be used safely with a card inserted that has an 8 pin power connection allready powering the graphics card?
Does the above two make a difference if you have ATX 24 PIN Or ATX 20 PIN, or can all be plugged in safely with no risk of damage to the board, i.e ATX 24 PIN To Motherboard and ATX 12V CPU 8 pin power connector and JPWR1 connected as well
All of this is in the manual page 2-9 but there is no clarification to what can and should be connected.

If you PSU has an 8-Pin-+12V-connector for CPU power, remove the plastic cover and plug it in.  [The cover is to avoid confusion, if a PSU is used that only has one 4-Pin +12V-Plug.]

  • StringTokenizer vs. split and empty strings -- some clarification please?

    Hi everybody,
I posted a question that was sort of similar to this once, asking if it was best to convert any StringTokenizers to calls to split when parsing strings, but this one is a little different. I rarely use split, because if there are consecutive delimiters, it gives empty strings in the array it returns, which I don't want. On the other hand, I know StringTokenizer is slower, but it doesn't give empty strings with consecutive delimiters. I would use split much more often if there was a way to use it and not have to check every array element to make sure it isn't the empty string. I think I may have misunderstood the javadoc to some extent--could anyone explain to me why split causes empty strings and StringTokenizer doesn't?
    Thanks,
    Jezzica85

    Because they are different?
Tokenizers are designed to return tokens, whereas split is simply splitting the String up into bits. They have different purposes
and uses to be honest. I believe the results of previous discussions of this have indicated that Tokenizers are slightly (very
slightly and not really meaningfully) faster and tokenizers do have the option of return delimiters as well which can be useful
and is a functionality not present in just a straight split.
However. split and regex in general are newer additions to the Java platform and they do have some advantages. The most
obvious being that you cannot use a tokenizer to split up values where the delimiter is multiple characters and you can with
    split.
So in general the advice given to you was good, because split gives you more flexibility down the road. If you don't want
the empty strings then yes just read them and throw them away.

  • Broken Links in RH8 - More Clarification Please

    Dear Experts,
I tried following through the other topics posted relating to this topic, however they all seemed to be different than what i am seeign within my project. I know how to correct borken links (per say) within the folders themselves, however, when in the actual folder "broken links" within the project manager, I cannot seem to delete the links that no longer are needed, or to clearly see if I still need them, its a bit overwhelming, as I moved some information within a project, and (while my application kept crashing - whole different story), each time I re-opened, it didn't seem to clear out the changes I had made through the clear caching as I have as my set up.
Within the PM, if I right click on the broken link, I do not get an option for Explore, I only have the below:
However, when I click on Restore within this dialog box, or even if I select the Show topic Link and try and restore, nothing happens. I tried to fix by going into one of the actual topics and deleting the link and then re-inserting and it and then saving the information, but it still remains. I unfortunately broke the links to actual topics that are utilized throughout the entire project, (like fundamental ones for generic searching and stuff)....so it now created havoc for me, and I just cant seem to get started with just one. I know if I can get one going, I will be able to quickly fix the others, but can't figure it out. (probably right under my nose).

This sounds like there were unsaved changes to your project when the project / PC crashed. As a result RoboHelp has got a bit lost as to what should be there. I think the answer is first of all to close your project backup and then delete your project's cpd file. If the project still displays the broken links, open the individual topic files containing links and ensure they are pointing to the right file. It may be best to reinsert the links. Save as you go and hopefully the broken links will disappear. Let us know how you get on.

  • SaxParser.parse(sok.getInputStream(), new handler()) [clarification please]

this code works, however i am not sure how/why?
i am interested in how Strings/characters are sent over tcp

    Socket sok = new Socket(server, port);
    OutputStreamWriter streamWriter = new OutputStreamWriter(sok.getOutputStream());
    streamWriter.write(xmlString, 0, xmlString.length());i am ok with this.
i see that the OutputStreamWriter does "something" about converting the

    here is receiver:

so, what is going on? i might imagine using:
    ObjectOutputStream.appendClass();
ObjectInputStream.resolveClass();to provide context that the byte stream are
characters of the "x" character set.
however, i am not using any
    ObjectStreams.
if this is a ridiculous question, and the answer is
in the api somehow, i am sorry. i am not good
    at always understanding the api.

then my fundamental confusion is the difference between
    java.io.Reader;
    java.io.InputStream;
consider the set of polymorphic method signatures for the
    SAXParser parse () methods.
    parser.parse(sok.getInputStream(), new MyHandler());clearly invokes:
public void parse(InputStream is, DefaultHandler dh);however i don't see any method signature that matches:
parser.parse(new InputStreamReader(sok.getInputStream(), myCharSet), new MyHandler());for example, in the api, there is no:
public void parse(Reader r, DefaultHandler dh);this has been very helpful.
i will Google the interchangability of Reader/InputStream tomorrow, however any
further guidance would be welcomed. the java.io heirarchy confuses me.

  • Mac OS X 10.5.6 Update download clarification please

    Hi,
Several people are talking about downloading the update from the apple website (which I normally do) BUT are calling the 372 MB download the COMBO download. Correct me if I am wrong but isn't the COMBO download the 668MB one? And if so, why is that one better instead of the 372MB one? I always thought that the COMBO was for those who have skipped an update or something. (The COMBO download is telling me that it will take 1 hour & 38 mins. to download right now!)
What makes the 2 different and which one is really the most reliable to use given all the problems that seem to be cropping up during and after this particular update installation?
    Thanks for any info.

In theory it's not better. It should be the same. If you have any system version prior to 10.5.5 you need the combo update as it contains all the previous updated files that 10.5.5 contains. You can update any 10.5 installation, from 10.5.1 to 10.5.5, and take it to 10.5.6.

Neither is more reliable, they should be the same depending which system you are upgrading. If however there are problems with any of the files on your 10.5.5 installation, then the combo update could be able to repair/replace them if they were originally updated prior to 10.5.5.
I don't think there are any more issues appearing after this upgrade than after any other. There will always be a few issues with some peoples setups after a system update.
