Compilation error in a function due to simple IF-ELSEIF condition

DB version:10gR2
I have created the below mentioned function to activate or deactivate a custom functionality in a package.
The functionlity should be activated only if the second byte of sys_config.flag_a ='Y' with CODE_ID='103'. If flag_a is null or if no such row exist , the function should return false
During the compilation, i am getting error as mentioned below. This can be easily reproduced.
create table sys_config (flag_a     varchar2(5), code_id varchar2(5));
create or replace function chk_if_mod_enabled
   return boolean
   is
      v_flag_a sys_config.flag_a%TYPE;
begin
     select nvl(substr(flag_a,2,1),'N')
     into v_flag_a
     from sys_config
     where     flag_a='Y'
     and     code_id='103';
     if     v_flag_a='Y'
          then return true;
     elseif     v_flag_a='N'
          then return false;
     else     return false;
     End If;
exception
when others
then
Return false;
end;The error i am getting is

You are returning boolean type.
So, you should be careful about using this function. You cannot use that in SQL.

  • Compilation Error: "class or interface expected" for simple EAR???

    Dear all,
    I have access to the customers NW CE 7.1 SP07 and of course I am using the corresponding NWDS 7.1 SP07 that comes with this CE installation. I am trying to study JEE 5 @ SAP and I have created a very simple Application (from the Book http://www.sap-press.de/katalog/buecher/titel/gp/titelID-1480).
    In NWDS I have created the following 4 projects:
    1. Dictionary Project
    Describes 2 Tables (TMP_EMPLOYEES and TMP_ID_GEN)
    2. EJB 5 Project
    Contains a stateless EJB + local business interface + Entity class.
    The EJB accesses the entity class, which is mapped to a simple table (TMP_EMPLOYEES).
    3. Dynamic Web Project
    Contains actually only one JSP (index.jsp) which allows to the local business interface for creating a new Entity.
    4. Enterprise Application Project (EAR)
    Creates a package from 2. and 3.
    I have successfully deployed both the Dictionary Project and the EAR (all to the same server).
    But If I call the corresponding URL via web browser I get the following error:
    500   Internal Server Error
    "Error in compiling [/EmployeeWeb/index.jsp] in application [sap.com/EmployeeEar]."
    Details: "The WebApplicationException log ID is [005056841108002A00000070000007AC0139C8D8862D3EED]."
    In the "Log Viewer" of the "SAP NetWeaver Administrator" (via browser...) I have found the following:
    Message: Processing HTTP request to servlet [jsp] finished with error.
    The error is: com.sap.engine.services.servlets_jsp.server.jsp.exceptions.CompilingException: Error in executing the compilation process: [ Compilation Failed! Exit Code=1

    As you can see there is some compilation error, it says 3 times "'class' or 'interface' expected". If i remove all the relevant EJB java code from my index.jsp everything works fine. So I guess there must be some problem with finding the resources. Unfortunately this "logging" is not helpful at all (thank you SAP!). In NWDS everything is fine no problems at all!!!
    Who can help me here with this?
    Thanks in Advance

    I have found the issue.
    in the index.jsp I have the following lines:
    <!-- Import Statements -->
    <%@ page import="javax.naming.InitialContext" %>
    <%@ page import="com.sap.demo.session.EmployeeServicesLocal;" %>
    Now check the end of the second import ==> ;
    Removing the semicolon solves the issue. But the SAP error message is still not very helpful to me.

  • Function compilation errors?

    In sys schema the status of a functions get_domain_index_tables and get_operated_qty is shown invalid. I'm continuously trying to get errors but in vain. Recompilation is always successsful with compilation errors.
    HELP please.

    Simple Idea:
    If your function in the Package, try to compile just Package Header first
    (You can copy & paste from your script) and then do
    SHOW ERRORS; or SELECT * FROM USER_ERRORS;
    If any Errors, fix them, compile again.
    (Package body won't compile without Errors until header is compiled without them)
    Then try to compile Package Body ALTER PACKAGE TEST_PKG COMPILE BODY;
    and query again (SHOW ERRORS; or SELECT * FROM USER_ERRORS;)

  • Certificate issues Active Directory Certificate Services could not process request 3699 due to an error: The revocation function was unable to check revocation because the revocation server was offline. 0x80092013

    Hi,
    We have some problems with our Root CA. I can se a lot of failed requests. with the event id 22: in the logs. The description is: Active Directory Certificate Services could not process request 3686 due to an error: The revocation function was unable to
    check revocation because the revocation server was offline. 0x80092013 (-2146885613).  The request was for CN=xxxxx.ourdomain.com.  Additional information: Error Verifying Request Signature or Signing Certificate
    A couple of months ago we decomissioned one of our old 2003 DCs and it looks like this server might have had something to do with the CA structure but I am not sure whether this was in use or not since I could find the role but I wasn't able to see any existing
    configuration.
    Let's say that this server was previously responsible for the certificates and was the server that should have revoked the old certs, what can I do know to try and correct the problem?
    Thank you for your help
    //Cris

    hello,
    let me recap first:
    you see these errors on a ROOT CA. so it seems like the ROOT CA is also operating as an ISSUING CA. Some clients try to issue a new certificate from the ROOT CA and this fails with your error mentioned.
    do you say that you had a PREVIOUS CA which you decomissioned, and you now have a brand NEW CA, that was built as a clean install? When you decommissioned the PREVIOUS CA, that was your design decision to don't bother with the current certificates that it
    issued and which are still valid, right?
    The error says, that the REQUEST signature cannot be validated. REQUESTs are signed either by itself (self-signed) or if they are renewal requests, they would be signed with the previous certificate which the client tries to renew. The self-signed REQUESTs
    do not contain CRL paths at all.
    So this implies to me as these requests that are failing are renewal requests. Renewal requests would contain CRL paths of the previous certificates that are nearing their expiration.
    As there are many such REQUEST and failures, it probably means that the clients use AUTOENROLLMENT, which tries to renew their current, but shortly expiring, certificates during (by default) their last 6 weeks of lifetime.
    As you decommissioned your PREVIOUS CA, it does not issue CRL anymore and the current certificates cannot be checked for validity.
    Thus, if the renewal tries to renew them by using the NEW CA, your NEW CA cannot validate CRL of the PREVIOUS CA and will not issue new certificates.
    But it would not issue new certificates anyway even if it was able to verify the PREVIOUS CA's CRL, as it seems your NEW CA is completely brand new, without being restored from the PREVIOUS CA's database. Right?
    So simply don't bother :-) As long as it was your design to decommission the PREVIOUS CA without bothering with its already issued certificates.
    The current certificates which autoenrollment tries to renew cannot be checked for validity. They will also slowly expire over the next 6 weeks or so. After that, autoenrollment will ask your NEW CA to issue a brand new certificate without trying to renew.
    Just a clean self-signed REQUEST.
    That will succeed.
    You can also verify this by trying to issue a certificate on an affected machine manually from Certificates MMC.
    ondrej.

    I am posting this as a problem for NI to look at.
    I am using the Compund Arithmetic function in XOR mode Inverted with 5 inputs. File is also set up in reentrant mode. When I attempt to save the file I get the following error:

    XOR is a new addition to compound arithmetic node. LabVIEW developpers just overlooked the fact that the outpout could be inverted. The compiler fails to generate the proper code because the inversion is not expected.
    Just do what the message says. Report the problem to NI Tech Support (and use a separate inverter node).

  • Warning: Function created with compilation errors. ???

    I created a function with a warning:
    Warning: Function created with compilation errors.
    I'd like to know more detailed information about this warning, how to find them?
    If only with this warning, I don't know how to correct the definition of the function.
    BTW, because it is a warning, I just try to run the sql stmt which will call this function:
    SQL> select strdiff(ename, 'FOR') from emp;
    select strdiff(ename, 'FOR') from emp
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-06575: Package or function STRDIFF is in an invalid state.
    /* strdiff is the name of function */
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    I think that your posting may be more suited to the PL/SQL forum.
    after the function is created with errors you should try the command:
    show err
    or
    show errors
    this should at least give you some idea of what is wrong.

  • Custom Function giving compile error

    Hi All,
    I have created a custom function to get the current time stamp. Below is the java code:
    package com.oracle.determinations.examples;
    import com.oracle.determinations.engine.CustomFunction;
    import com.oracle.determinations.engine.EntityInstance;
    import java.util.*;
    import java.text.*;
    public class CurrentTimeStamp extends CustomFunction {
       public Object evaluate(EntityInstance entityInstance, Object[] objects) {
          Date dNow = new Date( );
          SimpleDateFormat ft =
          new SimpleDateFormat ("MM/dd/yyyy HH:mm:ss");
        /*System.out.println(ft.format(dNow));*/
          return ft.format(dNow);
    My Extension.xml is as below:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <extension>
      <functions>
        <function name="CurrentTimeStamp" return-type="text">
      <arg name="entered-name" type="text"/>
           <handler platform="java" class="com.oracle.determinations.examples.CurrentTimeStamp"/>
          </function>
      </functions>
    </extension>
    The extension.xml is placed under following path:
    Development/Extension/CurrentTimeStamp/extension.xml
    The JAR file is palced under following path:
    Development/Extension/CurrentTimeStamp/lib/CurrentTimeStamp.jar (the jar file includes the com.oracle.determination.example folder structure)
    When i am using CurrentTimeStamp() in the rule base, it is throwing compile error saying:
    Error after text CurrentTimeStamp(' Fount Text: ')'. Exptected value variable or constant OPA - E00111
    Can you please help me where i am getting wrong and why it is not identifying the function?
    Thanks,

  • Simple Java created with compilation errors.

    Hi,
    While I am using Oracle for many years (currently 9.2.0.6.0) I am completely new to Java in the database.
    I found a very simple example to get started (please see SQL*Plus dump below) ... but I get a compilation error. Can anyone tell what I am doing wrong?
    SQL> CREATE OR REPLACE AND COMPILE JAVA SOURCE NAMED Fibonacci AS

    6 if (n == 1 || n == 2)
    7 return 1;

    9 return fib(n - 1) + fib(n - 2);
    10 }
    11 }

    SQL> show errors java source Fibonacci
    No errors.
    SQL>
    (It must be a simple thing, the example I found seems correct, but what about grants, settings etc.)
    Thanks in advance,
    Stefan

    Stefan,
    I cannot see anything in your code that would cause a compilation error. However, according to the example in the "Oracle 9i SQL Reference", it looks like you need to enclose the name in double quotes, as in:
    CREATE OR REPLACE AND COMPILE JAVA SOURCE NAMED "Fibonacci" AS ...Alternatively (and this is the way I do it), you could compile the class outside of the database, and load the compiled class file. Just create a file called "Fibonacci.java" (that contains your java code), compile it, and then use the "loadjava" tool to load the "Fibonacci.class" file into the database. Please refer to the Oracle 9i Java Developer's Guide for more details.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • Simple Create procedure throws compile error

    I have a table MyTable with two fields key and value. The table has few records with some number values.
    I want to increment this number value and return the updated number value from a procedure.
    Below is the procedure that I wrote. When I try to run this, I get this error from the SQLPlus prompt.
    Warning: Procedure created with compilation errors.
    Here is the procedure.
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE GetNextValue
         (v_key IN VARCHAR2(25), v_value OUT NUMBER DEFAULT -1) AS
    BEGIN
         UPDATE MyTable SET value=value+1 WHERE key=v_key;
         SELECT value INTO v_value FROM MyTable WHERE key=v_key;
    END GetNextValue;
    I stored this in a .sql file.
    Also is there any way that I can write the body in single query to both update the value and return it in the return variable?
    Appreciate your help.

    Hi,
    When creating a PL/SQL procedure, always say SHOW ERRORS on a separate line right after the /. That will geive you more detailed error messages.
    In this case, you'll probably get "OUT and IN OUT formal parameters may not have default expressions".
    If you want v_value set to -1 in the event that there is no row with key=v_key, then you can say:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE GetNextValue
    (   v_key    IN   VARCHAR2
    ,   v_value  OUT  NUMBER
    AS
    BEGIN
        UPDATE MyTable
            SET value=value+1
            WHERE key=v_key;
        SELECT value
            INTO v_value
            FROM MyTable
            WHERE key=v_key;
    EXCEPTION
        WHEN  NO_DATA_FOUND  THEN
            v_value := -1;
        WHEN OTHERS  THEN
            RAISE;
    END GetNextValue;

    Hello,
    The key will of course be to isolate differences between your machines.
    I wonder if the following more specific language setting could be the lingering problem.  LabVIEW is a non-unicode program, and there is a language setting in Windows (at least XP) specifically for non-unicode programs.  Try the following (or it's Win2K equivalent) if you haven't already:
    0. Open "Control Panel"
    1. Open the "Regional and Language Options"
    2. On the Advanced tab, choose English (United States) from the drop-down menu under the top section "Language for non-Unicode Programs"
    - This language setting is different from the setting on the "Regional Options" tab.
    Any other differences you can isolate would be potentially insightful - if you have the same software versions installed in the same order on both machines, we may be looking for something a bit subtle, such as the suspected language setting.

  • Af:serverListener on jspx page - compilation error - jDeveloper 11.1.1.4.0

    I have a weird problem that adding a serverListerner component on jspx page causes compilation error:
    The class of the deferred-methods return type "{0}" can not be found.
    No property editor found for the bean "javax.el.MethodExpression"
    If I remove serverListener (to pass compilation) and then add it again in run-time, it works normally (the backing bean method is being triggered correctly, including passing params, etc).
    It is happening only on the current project, but when I make a test case it works normally. I suspect it has something with the project settings, but I couldn't find the cause regarding that the project has advanced and there are so many differences to be able to do simple comparison.
    Does anyone know what could be the reason for af:serverListener to break compilation, please?
    ... from jspx page...

  • Compile error: How to modify .ini in 2010 SP1

    Hello,
    I am using the attached VI to stack cycles of data.  Ideally, I would like to stack 200-300 cycles, but anytime I get above 100-125 shift registers/cycles, the VI will not compile.  After 20-30 minutes, the error "out of memory exception caught in llvm gencode" appears.
    Follow past searches, I have increased the virtual memory as detailed below, which did not solve my problem.
    http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361G-01/lvhowto/enable_lrg_ad_aware/
    I see this posting detailing modifying the .ini file as another possible solution.
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/BA4B9038D01F3C99862577CA004BE1AD?OpenDocument
    Being unfamiliar with modifying the .ini file, how do I exactly do this?  Is it as simple as adding a line "LLVMLargeVIThreshold=12000" ? (or something greater than the standard 7500 value).  I have adding this line to the .ini file and still get the compiler error llvm issue.
    Any other suggestions or thoughts?  I dont want to have to roll back from 2010SP1 in order to be able to run this vi and get around this issue...
    Thank you

    I can get it above 200 shift register elements and still get it to compile, but that may be due to system differences.
    However, that design does not scale well.  Any time you want to change the number of elements you need to modify the program.
    Have you considered a queue of datatype Array of Double?
    If you look at buffer allocations in your program you get one buffer for each shift register element and one for the 2D array. Each must have contiguous memory due to the way arrays are stored in memory.  If the input array array grows in length, then all of the buffers need to be reallocated.  This should be a run time problem rather than compile-time, but the compliler may try to do some optimizations, particularly since it knows all the shift register buffers will be the same size.
    The Queue stores each array separately and the arrays can be different lengths.  To get all the data, use Get Queue Status with return elements? set True.  This will return an array of clusters with each cluster containing one of the input arrays.

  • Flash limitations, Invisible Compiler Errors, swc files...

    This question is for expert users of Flash CS4/CS5 and actionscript.   Please do not comment or offer suggestions if you have no experience  with these errors or their causes.
    ===================================================
    Question:
    =======
    Publishing  an extremely complex file can sometimes result in a blank swf being  created, and no compiler errors being shown even though some may exist.   Are there any suggested methods for dealing with this?
    =======
    Details:
    =======
    Those who have written flash files with large actionscript components  will be familiar with needing to set the JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS evinronment  variable in order to prevent the Flash compiler from crashing due to  memory limits.  The majority of the files in question require this as a  bare minimum in order to be compiled at all.
    The project in question involves several main "launcher" components,  in addition to hundreds of "modules".  The modules themselves are being  developed in a distributed manner by several programmers.  Each module  can be executed as a standalone swf, for testing and production  purposes.  Each module has a companion swc file which holds its assets  and exports them.  All of the modules make use of a shared custom code  library that sits on top of actionscript.
    The launcher program also uses the shared library code, and runs the  modules  (never more than one at a time, and clearing previously loaded ones  before loading a new one) inside of itself.  The launcher contains a  reference file(the class names typed in an include file, referencing all  of the available exported assets from the swcs) that makes all the  necessary assets available to the modules, such that any module can be  run at any time.
    ===========
    The Error:
    ===========
    Seemingly random in occurence, every now and then a file will  "compile blank".  Essentially, the compile time is very short, the swf  pops up as a blank white box, and there is absolutely nothing listed in  the "Compiler Errors" tab, nor in the output tab.  Sometimes closing  flash and relaunching it will bring the Compiler Error messages back,  though usually not.  More often opening the file on another computer in a  different copy of flash and compiling it again will show the errors.   The original computer will still not show anything, but the other  computer can be used to fix the error, and then the file will start  reporting errors again properly.
    However, sometimes, the file will "compile blank" on all computers,  and all copies of flash.  Then the only resort to find the hidden errors  and fix them, is to comment out the entire file, and slowly uncomment  out sections one at a time.  In this manner, the area where the hidden  errors are occuring can be determined, and the error found manually.
    Obviously this is an extremely frustrating situation, but one that can be "worked around".
    However, there are two more serious incarnations of this which cannot be as easily side stepped.
    1.) Sometimes certain computers/copies of flash will "compile blank" a  file that doesnt actually have errors in it.  The same file will  compile and work perfectly on one machine, and not on another.
    2.) The most severe of all...The two more complex components compile fine in cs4, but always "compile blank"  on cs5, no matter what.  The module files all compile much faster on  cs5 and work great.  However, the shared code library and the launcher  program cannot be compiled in cs5, though they compile fine in cs4.   Both compile blank every single time on cs5, with no errors reported.
    --Just as a side note here are the compile times on two different  types of computers, for cs4 and cs5, for the three types of compiled  files:
    =====================
    CS4 Compile time averages:
    =====================
    Dual Core - Pentium 4:
            Module File = 1-4 minutes
            Shared Code Library = 10+ minutes
            Launcher Program = Unusable
    6 Core AMD w 16 GBs of RAM:
             Module File = less than 10 seconds
             Shared Code Library = approx. 1 minute
             Launcher Program = 15-25 minutes
    =====================
    CS5 Compile time averages:
    =====================
    Dual Core - Pentium 4:
            Module File = less than 20 seconds
            Shared Code Library = 2-4 minutes
            Launcher Program = Compiles blank
    6 Core AMD w 16 GBs of RAM:
             Module File = less than 10 seconds
             Shared Code Library = less than 30 seconds
             Launcher Program = Compiles blank
    ========================================
    Summary:
    ========================================
    1.) Large and complex files in cs4 or cs5 can sometimes false compile, showing a blank swf, and no errors.
    2.) Large interlinked projects containing many swcs that can compile on cs4 always compile blank on cs5
    The issues involved "appear" to deal with interlinked swcs and swfs, memory, and compiler messages.
    The best solution i can think of would be some sort of verbose mode  setting, where the cs4/cs5 compilers can be set to trace all the actions  they are taking, either to a log file, or to the screen.  Rather than  simply giving a summary of the results, a real-time display of what is  occuring might lead to the actual bugs/issues.

    Above is a link to adobe's official version of admitting this situation exists(and its true for cs5 as well).
    If you are reading this, and simply have a single large file that won't compile.  Attempt their solutions suggested.  Also, click the link in the comments by the user refering to a blog that helped him.
    That will explain the JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS memory issue (which you can find many explanations on google as well).
    If however, you are working with a large number of separate swf's that load each other, and share assets and are getting the REAL problem, neither adobe's solutions, nor the JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS will correct the problem for you.  My best suggestion to you is, have one SWF launch the next one, and break your project into pieces.  Whatever the parent SWF needed to have, can be either copied into all the children SWFs, or into several "brother" SWFs which share the loaded children SWFs, (and can actually be successfully compiled).  Then as you move from brother to brother, they can be made to appear as if they were actually ONE file, loading the children, instead of several launching each other, and sharing the loading duties.
    and as far as adobe is concerned, if i told you what i thought of you, i would get this post deleted...and myself banned.
    Anyone considering doing Enterprise level projects in Flash, DONT.  I wanted to use JAVA, but my company went with flash.  I am stuck working around it constantly, and would have been better off coding foundation classes to mimic whatever functionality we needed from flash into java.
    Maybe when actionscript 4 comes along, it will magically bring with it true object oriented programming, and Adobe will spend the time and money to make a real working compiler.  Somehow i doubt it.
