Compile error across packages on i686 only
tryin' to build some packages.. realized I was getting the same build error on some of them, but only on i686. just wonderin' if anyone can shed some light. (the two packages so far btw were mono and babl)

Could be an issue with the new gcc, try downgrading and see if that works for you.

BUG: Compiler Error Across Platforms
I'm noticing an error when I try to compile the same source code on Linux and windows. When I compile the source code on windows, I receive an error and the compilation stops. When I compile on Linux, I do not receive an error and everything compiles succesfully.
The jist of the code looks like this....
String sResponse;
int i;
boolean bOk = false;
while (!bOk)
try {
sResponse = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Testing");
i = Integer.parseInteger(sResponse);
bOk = true;
} catch (Exception e) {
// Something
System.out.println("Value of i = " + i);When I compile this in windows I receive the error "Variable i might not have been initialize" (perhaps not exactly the wording).
Questions:
Is this a bug in the [Linux or windows] compiler?
Should this error instead be a warning (logically you might know it will be initialized) with the ability to disable ( javac -nowarn )?
-MWhat happens if you initialize i inside the while loop? I wonder if if the windows compiler thinks that the loop might not execute or if the windows compiler thinks that the assignment inside the try might not execute. while (!bOk){
i = 0;
try { sResponse = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Testing");
i = Integer.parseInteger(sResponse);
bOk = true;
} catch (Exception e) {
// Something
}I also wonder whether changing the catch to NumberFormatException makes a difference. -

First package - created with compilation errors
I'm working my way through Learning Oracle PL/SQL, the O'Reilly book, the 2002 edition, page 92. These procedures work fine stand-alone but when one calls the other, when mxb_add_books calls mxb_add_book_copy, in a package I get compilation errors:

We have develoepd a software tool and build it on regular basis. It currently runs error free when compiled in the editor, but when we built it and run the executable stand alone we get the error.
'The VI is not executable. The full development version of LabView is required tofix this error.' plus a broeken error.
This menas an compiler error that is not present in the editor but in the stand alone version. We tried to identify errors as suggested in several posts in this forum, but so far unsuccesfull.
As the editor and its compiler do not see the error and are running fine and the stand alone version just syas 'find the error in the editor' in this case LabView is of no help.
Can anyone suggest a sensible or 'good practice ' way of searching for the source of this error?
Our project comprises hundreds of Vis over several libraries.
Thanks,
ChrisThanks Craig for all your suggestions.
We seem to have located the problem in a new vi just added to the package causing conflicts by using the same vi names as other vis already present in the package. Excluding this vi removed the error.
It seems related to a conflict by having two vis with the same name, which was mentioned by LabView and interactively resolved when running the main vi from the editor. When successfully building the main vi the builder did not mention this conflict and reported a successful build, but when trying to run the executable it gave the cryptic error. The error caused us problems because there was no hint for the cause, just the suggestion to solve this in the editor, while at the same time in the editor the VI was running fine.
We will post about this in detail after we have positively proven that this actually was the case.
The .net version issue was already checked.
Performance was the same on all machines we tested on including the dev machine.
Debugging was tried nut did not help as the vi could not run (broken arrow). We assumed that debugging only helps in running faulty functioning vi''s. We did not check for broken arrows in sub-vis (after connecting), that could have helped, although our application has hundreds of our own vis.
In relation to your remark:
'Are you using many classes? Have you verified that the proper access scopes are set for functions calling those vis?'
Could you elaborate on setting access scopes. We were not aware of this option in LabView, although we realize this is a basic element of the underlying c code.
Ragrds,

I do not know how to add a library javax.inject-1.jar ?
Is there another solution . Thank for you help in this matter.If this is still an outstanding issue, and you have a valid CSI, a BDB support license, please access MOS (MyOracle Support) and review Note 1198943.1: "Building BDB XML 2.5.16 with STLPort on Solaris using Sun Studio". If you cannot access MOS, drop me an e-mail at andrei dot costache at the obvious domain, and I will send the details.

I use a batch file to compile a java package. And I got the following errors:
TabPages: Java: 29: Cannot solve symbol
Symbol: class JSPFactory
Location: package JSP
JSPFactory = javax.Servlet.jsp.JSPFactory.getDefaulfFactory();
Note: Some input files use or override a deprecated APT.
Note: Recompile with -deprecation for details.
I am using New Atlanta servletExec 3.1 and IIS server. Can anyone help me figure our the above errors? Thanks!if I add the "set classpath=".,C:/javax" to the begining of the batch file, will this override the classpath that I set in the Environment window? I am worried about this since we have a bunch of environment variables already been set there.
I tried to add the ";c:\javax" at the end of the classpath on my Environment window, and rebooted the server, but still got the same error message. Did I have some syntax error? What does the dot before ";C:/javax" mean? I deleted it when I added them to the classpath.
It will cause too much trouble to add the "javac XXX.java -classpath=".;C"/javax" to each file that needs this package because we don't have a single command for compiling a single java file. We have a huge amount of java files and we just use a single "javac -d" to compile every file under several folders. Our batch file is as follows:
del /F/Q ..\classes
javac -d ..\classes *.java htmltool\html\*.java ises\*.java DropDown\*.java frmselection\*.java grid\*.java treeView\*.java reportTreeMenu\*.java hs\types\*.java
del /F ..\lib\grid.jar
del /F ..\lib\TreeView.jar
cd ..\classes
jar cf ..\lib\grid.jar grid
rmdir /S/Q grid
jar cf ..\lib\TreeView.jar treeView
rmdir /S/Q treeView
cd ..\javasrc
Another thing is that: we have exact the same classpath and batch file on another server which works fine, and its classpath doesn't include explicitly stuff like";c:\javax", but we never have prolbem compiling the java source. So do I miss something else? -
Using package getting compiler error
I have a project at c:\myproject
I have a file name as b.java in c:\myproject
I have a sub-directory named as com\sski\ in c:\myproject
In that subdirectory there is a file a.java (package of a.java is com.sski) which is using class b.
I have compiled b.java successfully, But I am unable to compile a.java
I am getting compiler error cannot resolve symbol
Sourece of a.java is as follow package com.sski;
//import b;
public class a
public static void main(String[] args)
b obj = new b();
System.out.println("Inside a.java: " +obj);
}i have even tried using import b;
then i get error as '.' expected
how do i successfully compile a.java, where do i place b.java.
i dont want to put b.java inside any package.b.class is not being found in your classpath. If you are compiling in C:\myproject, b.class should end up in C:\myproject, since you are not putting it in a package (which, IMO, is a bad idea). This assumes that you are not using the -d <destination> command line option in the javac command line.
To compile a.java, you need to use the -classpath command line option, as follows:
javac -classpath C:\myproject a.java
or
javac -classpath . a.java (note the dot).

Compilation Error: "class or interface expected" for simple EAR???
Dear all,
I have access to the customers NW CE 7.1 SP07 and of course I am using the corresponding NWDS 7.1 SP07 that comes with this CE installation. I am trying to study JEE 5 @ SAP and I have created a very simple Application (from the Book http://www.sap-press.de/katalog/buecher/titel/gp/titelID-1480).
In NWDS I have created the following 4 projects:
1. Dictionary Project
Describes 2 Tables (TMP_EMPLOYEES and TMP_ID_GEN)
2. EJB 5 Project
Contains a stateless EJB + local business interface + Entity class.
The EJB accesses the entity class, which is mapped to a simple table (TMP_EMPLOYEES).
3. Dynamic Web Project
Contains actually only one JSP (index.jsp) which allows to the local business interface for creating a new Entity.
4. Enterprise Application Project (EAR)
Creates a package from 2. and 3.
I have successfully deployed both the Dictionary Project and the EAR (all to the same server).
But If I call the corresponding URL via web browser I get the following error:
500 Internal Server Error
"Error in compiling [/EmployeeWeb/index.jsp] in application [sap.com/EmployeeEar]."
Details: "The WebApplicationException log ID is [005056841108002A00000070000007AC0139C8D8862D3EED]."
In the "Log Viewer" of the "SAP NetWeaver Administrator" (via browser...) I have found the following:
Message: Processing HTTP request to servlet [jsp] finished with error.
The error is: com.sap.engine.services.servlets_jsp.server.jsp.exceptions.CompilingException: Error in executing the compilation process: [ Compilation Failed! Exit Code=1

As you can see there is some compilation error, it says 3 times "'class' or 'interface' expected". If i remove all the relevant EJB java code from my index.jsp everything works fine. So I guess there must be some problem with finding the resources. Unfortunately this "logging" is not helpful at all (thank you SAP!). In NWDS everything is fine no problems at all!!!
Who can help me here with this?
Thanks in AdvanceI have found the issue.
in the index.jsp I have the following lines:
<!-- Import Statements -->
<%@ page import="javax.naming.InitialContext" %>
<%@ page import="com.sap.demo.session.EmployeeServicesLocal;" %>
Now check the end of the second import ==> ;
Removing the semicolon solves the issue. But the SAP error message is still not very helpful to me. -
Compilation Error for import classes not found in generated Proxy Class
Hi,
We are generating java classes for the COM dll using JCOM com2java compiler.
We are getting a compilation error for import class not found when compiling the
generated Proxy java source code. It can't find the com.bea.jcom.Dispatch class that
the generated Proxy java source code extends. It also can't find com.bea.jcom.Variant
or com.bea.jcom.Param. These are interfaces or data types or classes used by COM
library.
I added weblogic.jar to my class path and the only Dispatch class i found inside
the weblogic.jar is com.linar.jintegra.Dispatch;
We have com objects for which we want to develop an EJB client to interface with
the COM object using JCOM with Native Mode disabled.
Any help on the compilation error..I tried changing the extends for Dispatch to com.linar.jintegra.Dispatch
but the other errors are still there.
To begin with, I think the generated code should not refer to any of the COM data
types.
Any help please.
Thank you in advance,
Regards,
Rahul Srivastava
[email protected]Hi,
I resolved the other errors by changing all references from com.bea.jcom.Variant
etc to com.linar.jintegra.class name..all were present under the com.linar.jintegra
package.
Thank you all anyways,
Regards,
rahul

Compile debug causes package to become invalid
We're running 10.2.0.4.0 and I have a large package (7730 lines) which compiles fine on it's own. However, if I try to enable debug mode, I get an error:
SQL> alter package mypkg compile debug package;
Warning: Package altered with compilation errors.
SQL> show errors;
No errors.
If I perform another alter command without the debug parameter, then it compiles fine:
SQL> alter package mypkg compile package;
Package altered.
Also, if I compile this package using the "Compile for Debug" button in SQL Developer then I actually get an error message:
Error(1): PLS-00707: unsupported construct or internal error [2603]
Does anyone have any idea what's going on here? I've spent the past couple days searching for a solution and while I've seen many cases of people having the PLS-00707 error, I wasn't able to find anyone who only receives it when compiling for debug.SQL> CONN SCOTT

Questions:
1) LD_LIBRARY_PATH doesn´t change any behavior of oracle - means the lib-path used stays on the 64bit directory. WHY?
2) All necessary packages are installed (checked with Oracle Admin Docu!). All other devel and lib and compile and stuff packages are installed as 64 and 32 bit version. OK Nearly every f*#(#*_ package which has something to do with compilation and make processes is installed. COULD SOMETHING BE STILL MISSING?
3) What do I have to change to get compilation with 32bit?
4) Is it reasonable to compile with 32bit ? I think it isn´t.
4) This is a S390 System so are there any special libs or patches to install for Oracle?
5) Where are the 64bit libs for oracle ??????? (See below)
What I found out:
The libraries in $ORACLE_HOME/lib and ../lib32 are both 32 bit .... ????? WHY? Not wondering its incompatible.

ORA-24344: Success with compilation error.
Hi, i got the following error notification mail when the DB job [runs only once in a day at 1 AM] tries to execute the following procedure.
The mail reads like this ----
"Condition Raised in: toll_partitions.recompile_invalid_objects
Short Desc: ORA-24344
Long Desc: ORA-24344: Success with compilation error.
Cause: Trigger creation did not successfully complete.
Solution: Check trigger status for all triggers created in this schema and find out which error caused the failure by querying the user_errors table for the named trigger and Trigger type.
--- end of mail ----
=== This is the procedure =====
PROCEDURE recompile_invalid_objects IS
-- Declare variables
v_ins_str VARCHAR2(2000);
cursor_handle NUMBER;
execute_feedback NUMBER;
v_unix_str VARCHAR2(200);
v_object_cnt NUMBER := 0;
-- Declare cursor objects
CURSOR curs_obj IS
SELECT decode( OBJECT_TYPE, 'PACKAGE BODY',
'ALTER PACKAGE ' || OWNER||'.'||OBJECT_NAME || ' COMPILE BODY',
'ALTER ' || OBJECT_TYPE || ' ' || OWNER||'.'||OBJECT_NAME || ' COMPILE' )
"COMP_OBJECT"
FROM dba_objects
WHERE STATUS = 'INVALID'
AND OBJECT_TYPE IN ( 'PACKAGE BODY', 'PACKAGE', 'FUNCTION', 'PROCEDURE',
'TRIGGER', 'VIEW' )
AND OWNER = USER
AND OBJECT_NAME NOT LIKE 'TOAD_PROFILER'
ORDER BY OWNER, OBJECT_TYPE, OBJECT_NAME;
BEGIN
-- Set Package/Procedure Name for email notification.
vFacility := cProcName || '.recompile_invalid_objects';
-- Select invalid object count
BEGIN
SELECT count(*)
INTO v_object_cnt
FROM dba_objects
WHERE STATUS = 'INVALID'
AND OBJECT_TYPE IN ( 'PACKAGE BODY', 'PACKAGE', 'FUNCTION', 'PROCEDURE',
'TRIGGER', 'VIEW' )
AND OWNER = USER
AND OBJECT_NAME NOT LIKE 'TOAD_PROFILER'
ORDER BY OWNER, OBJECT_TYPE, OBJECT_NAME;
-- Recompile invalid objects
IF v_object_cnt > 0 THEN
FOR i in curs_obj
LOOP
v_ins_str := i.COMP_OBJECT;
cursor_handle := DBMS_SQL.OPEN_CURSOR;
DBMS_SQL.PARSE(cursor_handle,
v_ins_str,
DBMS_SQL.V7);
execute_feedback := DBMS_SQL.EXECUTE(cursor_handle);
DBMS_SQL.CLOSE_CURSOR(cursor_handle);
COMMIT;
END LOOP;
END IF;
END;
EXCEPTION
WHEN OTHERS THEN
-- Log error condition and generate email notification if needed.
toll_handle.error_condition(vFacility, toll_handle.get_ora_desc(sqlerrm),vErrorID);
END recompile_invalid_objects;
==== end of procedure ====
I got '0' count when I ran the invalid object count to see the invalid objects. I ran the following code ..and it gave me 0 value.
SELECT count(*)
FROM dba_objects
WHERE STATUS = 'INVALID'
AND OBJECT_TYPE IN ( 'PACKAGE BODY', 'PACKAGE', 'FUNCTION', 'PROCEDURE',
'TRIGGER', 'VIEW' )
AND OWNER = USER
AND OBJECT_NAME NOT LIKE 'TOAD_PROFILER'
ORDER BY OWNER, OBJECT_TYPE, OBJECT_NAME;
--- end of query ---
The count 0 means, there are no invalid objects. But it throws daily the same error notification mail at 1 AM[the time job runs]. I compiled the procedure and it reports no errors. I checked the status of the triggers and all are valid and enabled. Please suggest me. Any help in this regard will be of great help to me. Thanks in advance...Just some hints. I'm not sure if they help solving your problem.
1) Don't COMMIT inside a cursor.
2) Instead of DBMS_SQL you could use DBMS_DDL.ALTER_COMPILE, also see here: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/appdev.920/a96612/d_ddl2.htm#1000604
3) Check if there are other jobs running during the recompile. Maybe you run into some conflicts.
4) Output the statement that creates the error. It looks like you could try to put this into your exception handler: toll_handle.error_condition(vFacility, v_ins_str,vErrorID); -
Warning: Function created with compilation errors. ???
I created a function with a warning:
Warning: Function created with compilation errors.
I'd like to know more detailed information about this warning, how to find them?
If only with this warning, I don't know how to correct the definition of the function.
BTW, because it is a warning, I just try to run the sql stmt which will call this function:
SQL> select strdiff(ename, 'FOR') from emp;
select strdiff(ename, 'FOR') from emp
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-06575: Package or function STRDIFF is in an invalid state.
/* strdiff is the name of function */
Thanks in advance!Hi,
I think that your posting may be more suited to the PL/SQL forum.
after the function is created with errors you should try the command:
show err
or
show errors
this should at least give you some idea of what is wrong.

Compiler Error Message: CS0433
Compiler Error Message: CS0433: The type 'CrystalDecisions.Web.CrystalReportPartsViewer' exists in both 'c:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_MSIL\CrystalDecisions.Web\11.5.3700.0__692fbea5521e1304\CrystalDecisions.Web.dll' and 'c:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_MSIL\CrystalDecisions.Web\10.2.3600.0__692fbea5521e1304\CrystalDecisions.Web.dll'
Support Information:
Windows Server 2003
Crystal 9,10 and 11 support required based on reports and web configuration.
This error relates to the following configuration:
Visual Studio 2005
Crystal .Net that comes with VS2005 SP2 (10.2.3600.0)
Web application deployment.
I am told that some Web.Config settings would fix this, but no one has been to specific.
Thanks
-JonathanBeen over those files many times today actually. Thanks for the suggestion though. Apparently this type of issue is a known issue when you have multiple DLL's in the assembly cache with regards to how Crystal is laid out.
My Web.Config has no refference to either assembly, the project reference only refferences 10.2.3600.0 DLL's, Specific Version is set to true on all of them. The only way around this problem from what I have read is to use some sort of Web.Config adjustment, and the only article that even slightly goes into this is:
http://blogs.gotdotnet.com/richarde/archive/2005/09/02/468187.aspx
As you can see by that article, Microsoft is not only aware of this problem, but have had to do work arounds in the Web.Config themself to get around it. The problem is, I do not know the xmlns to use for Crystal, the depenentAssembly information, or even the assemblyIdentity to use in this case.
What I need is the <runtime> variables for atleast version 10.2.3600.0 and 11.5.3700.0 along with 11.5.3300.0, some of my reports are directly created inside of VS 2005 C# .Net and need to be displayed in a web project, others are created in VS 2003 and used in an application layer and those are fine, but finally, I have Crystal XI R2 reports (several people creating these) which are displayed on a web page via <assemblies> tags within those sub project websites.
The sticker at the moment is the VS2005 C# projects. I would LOVE to just shove a package at VS 2005 to force it to upgrade from 10.2.3600.0 to 11.5.3700.0, then it wouldn't matter as much, but Microsoft won't support me, they consider this a Business Objects issue. What I am looking for is the Web.Config <runtime> setttings.
<runtime>
<assemblyBinding xmlns="????">
<dependentAssembly>
<assemblyIdentity name="???" publicKeyToken="???" />
<bindingRedirect oldVersion="??" newVersion="??" />
</dependentAssembly>
</assemblyBinding>
</runtime>
One for me to get past this issue.. Or some sort of upgrade to VS 2005 to bring it up to Crystal XI R2 package level, or some direction there of.
