Compile programs after linux installation

Hello,
when execute a transaction for first time after Linux installation the program is compiled. The server is a dialog instance with Red Hat and the central instance  and database server  have  HP-UX  O.S with Oracle. Why do this?
Regards.

ABAP programs are stored in text in the database table REPOSRC (often accessed from database view TRDIR).  The first time any ABAP program is executed, it must be compiled first.  Each time a program is executed, the compiled version is compared to the text version - if the text version has changed since the last compile, it will be compiled again.  If you have a heterogenous install (for example, Unix and Linux application servers), then the programs must be compiled once for each platform.
The transaction code SGEN can help you to pre-compile all of your programs, if you wish.
Cheers,
David.

  • After Linux installation my notebook can not boot up properly

OK so I installed Linux ubunto and I was double booting with my standard version of Win when me and my friend tried to just go back to Windows we restored it back to the original with the backup disk only problem is that now the program (GRUB) that loads when you choose your operating system is still on the computer.
It gives me an error 22 message every time... I was told I need to reset the master boot record or something like that but I do not know how so if someone plz could help me?
    That would be greatly appreciated!

Your MBR (Master Boot Record) contains GRUB loader. You must recover its original contents.
For win95/98/me you use "fdisk /mbr" with a startup disk.
With win2000/xp you boot into the recovery console using the installation CD and type fixmbr

  • Studio 12.4 tarball install can't compile programs on Linux

    Hi,
I just installed the tarball for 12.4 in /opt. I have previously used Studio 12.3, 12.2, and 12.0.
Problem #1 command line C and Fortran compilers fail
The IDE can compile and build an application but the command line compilers (C and Fortran) both fail:
EDIT: The IDE didn't build the project from existing code either. I was fooled by the fact dmake ran but it actually ignored my makefiles and did nothing. I got no error messages and the executables ran, so I ASSumed everything was ok. It now appears the tollowing error (Problem #2) below affects the IDE and command line tools and nothing works at all.
    user@sys:~/devel/C/hello$ cc -V
    cc: Sun C 5.13 Linux_i386 2014/10/20
    user@sys:~/devel/C/hello$ which cc

Problem #2 building a project using the wizard:
Yesterday I was able to get the IDE to build one of my Fortran apps from existing source. Today I tried using the wizard to build a C project from scratch.
    I chose C/C++/Fortran application.
    Next
    It shows CppApplication_1
    Finish
I expand source files to edit main.c
after a few seconds I get a popup that says
    Project
    /home/user/SolStudioProjects/CppApplication_1
metadata was modified in file system and in current session
Reload the project from disk and
override current changes to the project settings?
If I select no I get warning icons on the filename and Studio refuses to open it in edit. If I delete the project from /home/user/SolStudioProjects and start all over again and answer yes instead of no here, the entire project has a warning on it, nothing expands and when I look in the CppApplication_1 folder in /home/user/SolStudioProjects it's completely empty.

Because your libelf is not .1 but rather .0.8.
Linux is a multi-faced beast so we do not dare to support all of its variances.
Besides the difference in system libraries (that you just hit) various flavours of Linux have rather huge variety in their linker versions/behavior
which is especially painful for C++ compiler which needs quite a bit of linker magic.
Anyway, you may get around your particular problem by installing a newer libelf on your system.
Not that there is any guarantee it will not get broken some other way

  • Issues accessing Office for Mac 2011 files and sluggish or no response when in programs after Yosemite installation.

I need to use Excel daily - ever since I upgraded both to Yosemite and updated Office 2011 to the most current version, I have had issues opening documents.  When I go to open a file from Excel (or Word, or PP), the response is unbelievably sluggish - 30 seconds to minutes when moving the cursor down 1 or 2 files to select.  If I am lucky enough to get to the file, the performance within Excel is painfully slow (30 seconds + to move the cursor 1 cell).  I can quickly open files from Finder directly, but still have the same performance issues within Excel.  I have: 1) reinstalled the latest Office Update, 2) uninstalled and reinstalled Office, performed disk repair (using Disk Utility), cleaned the cache.  All to no avail.  I have performed full system virus scans (no issues).  I have a 13" MacBook Pro (purchased July of 2013).  I need help - I am unable to do my job.  Any one else experiencing similar issues?  Found a solution?

Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Package status not appended in the Add Remove Programs in control panel after the installation.

    Hi,
I have a strange problem with "Package status not appended in the Add Remove Programs after the installation.".
Like, onec the package is installed via SCCM, it should be listed in the Add Remove programs with the package name, version and the install date.
At times on random machine these details are not appended. Although the application works fine on the machine, but the correct details are not populated in Add/ Remove programs.
There is no issue with the package as it shows correct details on few other machine where it is installed.
This behaviour is random on random machines. Hence, very difficult to track the reason.
    System Security analyst at CapG

    Hi Jason,
Yes, i have tried Jorgen's suggestion, ans as said earlier. It install the application smoothly on any other machine (any random machine) perfectly with correct details in Add Remove Programs.
As mentioned earlier, the same package, same environment, same set of machines with same OS, it installs correctly on few machines.. and on few its just misses to add correct details in Add Remove progs.
If it was related to package, how does it install corretly on other machines?? How does the same package installs correctly when done manually or by that means by PSEXEC.
To a matter of fact, we are checking our package for the multiple times now, just to make sure it is buldled correctly with correct install scripts. We are trying to search different multiple ways to see what makes the package to skip the
correct entry in the Add Remove.
To add, this is not with one package, it happens with random package with random machine. There is not typical behaviour that could be tracked.
All the installations done via SCCM 07, with admin account.
This looks more tricky and complex then as simple as saying, its the fault of packaging.
I hate to say this but this is NOT a CM07 problem, You will need to work with your packaging team, and use tools like process monitor, psexec and the msi log to determine why it is failing.
Your first step is to find a pc where you can consistent get the setup to fails. once you get that you can use process monitor and the msi log files to determine what is going on.

Does anyone know of a transaction to compile all programs after an upgrade? One thing our users hate is that little clock in the lower left corner that says 'Compiling...' and after an upgrade this happens for every single program and transaction they start... is there a way to avoid this?
    thanks in advance,

    Hi Ioana,
if you would to generate custom code as well I can offer you this report.
The output list shows only objects with generation errors.
This might interesting in case of a release change because ABAP is getting always more strict ...

  • Remove C:\Program Files\sapinst_instdir after successful installation

    Hello,
do you recommend to delete the directory C:\Program Files\sapinst_instdir after successful installation.
It wastes ~500 MB disk space.
    Thanks,
    Juergen

    yes.
if the installation was successful. i've experienced, that you won't read logs of a successful installtion anymore...
but you could also zip & archive it somewhere.
if you plan to do further installation you even SHOULD remove/rename the directory.

  • My compiled program crashes after first run (LabVIEW 2009)

I have a compiled program created with LabVIEW 2009 that on the first run after the computer is re-booted will work fine but after shutting down the program it will not run properly.
The program uses a compiled launcher to dynamically activate a set of VI's containing Queue Driven State Machines (QDSM).  On subsequent program starts the launcher module comes up fine and its progress bar shows that it is launching each of the VI's.  Once the launcher is complete it removes itself from memory leaving the dynamically launched VI's running.  The subsequent launches which fail the main user interface VI pops up barely long enough for the observer to see (if at all) then shuts down.  The program is then gone from memory as far as I can tell.  There are no processes in memory or anything.
Additionally, the when I try to run the installed version of the exe on a computer that has the 2009 development environment installed I get this behavior consistently with a successful run even once.
In both cases my program does not throw any errors (which are logged) nor does the runtime engine generate any that I can see.  Also, when I run my program in the development environment the program does not behave this way.  It has no problems at all.
I have used this style of architecture before in LV8.6 with out any problems.  Can anyone suggest some possible solutions or even some debugging tips?  I have never had a problem that I could not duplicate in the development environment so I am unsure how begin attacking my issue.
    Thanks for any help.

Behold the power of LabVIEW as my army of Roomba minions streaks across the floor!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have solved the problem I think (at least as far as testing to this point has revealed).   After I added in the ability to log the states passed to the QDSM's, I was able to determine that the program was "crashing" after I dynamically closed the front panel of the launcher.  My program was designed to close the front panel of the launcher then pop-up the front panel of the main UI.   My EXE is built on to contain the launcher with my other QDSM files being maintained externally in specific directories.  What appeared to be happening is that when the launcher closed its front panel and before the UI opened up the run-time engine would decide since there were no windows open it would close itself down.  This is my supposition about what may be happening any way.  I modified my code to changed the launcher window to hidden and delay for 1/2 a second to give the main UI a chance to start fully running.  This fixed the problem, or at least worked around it.  If someone out there can explain to me exactly what is happening I sure would appreciate it.
Thanks for all the help those of you who responded.  Your advice was very beneficial and certainly led me to a resolution faster.

After altering the "Processes" list in Task manager, almost all of my programs show the iTunes icon, and when I click on, for example, Firefox, iTunes will load. Uninstalling iTunes restores the normal loading of other programs, but re-installation of iTunes makes the problem recur. Any answers?

  • Is ldconfig (or anything similar) required after the installation of shared library?

After a shared library (.dylib) is compiled and is put into an appropriate directory, is "ldconfig" or a similar command required to finalize the installation?
On Linux, each time a shared library (.so) is installed or uninstalled, /etc/ld.so.cache must be updated by running the "ldconfig" command.  Does Mac OS X require "ldconfig" or a similar command after the installation or uninstallation of  a shared library (.dylib)?
Note that a shared library may also be called a shared object (so), a dynamically linked library, or a dynamic-link library (dll).
    Thanks.

The following excerpt explains why Linux uses "ldconfig" after the installation or uninstallation of a shared library.
    http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Program-Library-HOWTO/shared-libraries.html
    | On Linux systems, this loader ... finds
    | and loads all other shared libraries
    | used by the program.
    |
    | The list of directories to be searched
    | is stored in the file /etc/ld.so.conf.
    |
    | Searching all of these directories at
    | program start-up would be grossly
    | inefficient, so a caching arrangement is
    | actually used. The program ldconfig(8)
    | by default reads in the file
    | /etc/ld.so.conf, sets up the appropriate
    | symbolic links in the dynamic link
    | directories (so they'll follow the
    | standard conventions), and then writes a
    | cache to /etc/ld.so.cache that's then
    | used by other programs. This greatly
    | speeds up access to libraries. The
    | implication is that ldconfig must be run
    | whenever a DLL is added, when a DLL is
    | removed, or when the set of DLL
    | directories changes; running ldconfig is
    | often one of the steps performed by
    | package managers when installing a
    | library. On start-up, then, the dynamic
    | loader actually uses the file
    | /etc/ld.so.cache and then loads the
    | libraries it needs.
How does Mac OS X deal with this issue?
Linux uses the cache file "/etc/ld.so.cache" to avoid the redundant search of directories.  Linux uses "ldconfig" to update the cache.
How does Mac OS X avoid the inefficient redundant search of directories?

  • Compiling an old linux code on a new mac

    Hello,
I am trying to compile an old Linux program on my new macbook pro (Intel + 10.6). The program uses a mix of fortran and c source codes. On the Linux environment where it works I have gcc(f77) 3.2.3 installed.
The only external library called for in the Makefile is libg2c, which as far as I can tell comes with gcc 3 but not any longer in gcc 4. This means that the original Makefile, which works on a Linux environment with gcc 3.2.3 does not work on my Mac.
For sure I need some g2c-like library because the system is mixing Fortran and C code, and doesn't compile if I just remove -lg2c from the Makefile, the compiling crashes.
I have tried to install libf2c from Fink but it doesn't seem compatible with gfortran created code.
Now I'm a bit lost. Can someone offer some help?

    atticus_pf wrote:
You keep saying gcc4.4 is bad.
There is nothing inherently wrong with gcc4.4. I just don't trust anything that comes from the Mac "ports" packages. Why would I need to "port" something to MacOS X if it build fine from a tarball? More importantly, why would I use a version newer than what Apple ships with the OS? MacOS X is not Linux. Those newer versions have not been tested and MacOS X and MacOS X is fundamentally different from any OS that those versions have been tested on. If you want to test new software on Mac OS X, that's great. Just get the original code and build it yourself instead of going through a 3rd party who may or may not know what they are doing. Every time I see a problem here in Apple Discussions with someone who can't build an open-source software package on MacOS X, some "ports" package has been installed. Every Time.
What is the best version to use? I have gcc in /usr/bin which is gcc 4.2.1 - I think this is the apple version. ... I just want to use what is best and most reliable.
That would be the one Apple build the OS with. Even then, gcc 4.2.1 is still a bit flaky on MacOS X. Apple may never use gcc 4.4. It is moving towards Clang for future development.
    gcc -framework Carbon -arch i386 -m64 -g -I/Users/jpfaendt/Modeling/parest/ddasac/software/include -O2 -o parest ./model.o jacobian.o bsub.o -L/Users/jpfaendt/Modeling/parest/ddasac/software -L/Users/jpfaendt/Modeling/parest/ddasac/software/myUtil -L/Users/jpfaendt/Modeling/parest/ddasac/software/lib -L/sw/lib/gcc4.4/lib -lm -lliqparest -ldassl -lgregpack -lgfortran -lUtil -L/sw/lib/gcc4.4/lib/

sorry for the messy paste, it's an ugly makefile (although it works in linux). You can see I'm including libraries that I myself compiled (libliqparest, libdassl, libgregpack, libUtil are all compiled in this code).
But what is that "-m64" doing there? That is not a good flag to use even in the best of times. It really isn't appropriate with "-arch i386". Add to that the fact that Carbon isn't 32-bit and you've got a mess-o-problems.
The first function that has a problem above (_Delete) is defined in a c program that is compiled as part of libUtil.a. This library just has a bunch of house-made functions for vector handling, etc. The code could be probably be overhauled to not need this anymore but I don't have the energy to do it.
I really think these are old relics of a MacOS port back when you needed such "ports" because MacOS (note the absence of "X") didn't have such things as open(), malloc(), and free().
You have the source to libUtil.a, so it would be worthwhile to look at it and see if my hypothesis is correct. You may be able to fix it with just a compiler flag and have it use the POSIX code instead of the MacOS Carbon routines. Then, hopefully, you can get rid of Carbon altogether and build a true 64-bit executable.
In any case, I'm now suspecting my compiler configuration, etc for causing the problems. What is the best solution for having the fink gcc-4 installed and apples gcc installed? I guess I have to reconcile this somehow with the gfortran that is in /sw/bin.
You could also download a better version of gfortran that installs into /usr/local, where it is supposed to be.

  • Linux installation problem on D20

    Hi, guys,
I am trying to install Redhat Linux x86_64 5.3 on D20 with a Marvell 88SE63xx/64xx SAS controller. As the Linux installer cannot recognize the SAS controller, I download a driver of Marvell mv64xx for Redhat x86_64 5.2 from Lenovo driver matrix website. Unfortunately, no matter how I follow the instruction to load the driver, the so-called mv64xx doesn't drive the Marvel 88SE63xx/64xx SAS controller in D20, so that the Redhat 5.3 Linux installer cannot find any hard drive. This is ridiculous and ironic because I got 5 SAS 15rpm hard drives in D20. Does anyone know how to resolve this problem and get Redhat Linux 5.3 installed on D20 with SAS drives?

    hello, good news everyone
today i tested the upcoming kernel 2.6.31-1 with ubuntu server x64  (9.10 / karmic)
    and what can i say?

the kernel included the mvsas module and its dependant, and ran out of the box doing anything. and yes, it's a software raid, the bios offers raid 5 and 10, but they are greyed out. okay, my graphic is now broken with 2.6.31-1, but hey, the 5 port's are working i almost forgot where i have put the 500gb disk. hdparm -tT showed 7.8gb/s buffered and 77mb/s normal read, which is normal for the drive.
because of the nature of a module, i believe you have to compile a kernel with support of mvsas on your own to boot linux from it, or you use the ich10 - only for optical drives - sata port, which works fine with the intel x25-m ssd.

  • LV 8 problem with New Report.vi in compiled program

I'm a novice LV programmer trying to finish my first project.  The project is the automation of an air flow stand using field point for acquisition/control.  Have the code written and everything seems to work fine until I compile.  Specifically, I get an error when I attempt to open an Excel template (XLT) using the New Report.vi included in the report generation add on.  When the compiled executable run I get a message with the header "Error 7 occured at Open VI reference in New Report vi>report2.vi>auto air flow testing.vi .   And then in the body of the message is says:
    Possible reason(s):
LabVIEW:  File not found. The file might have been moved or deleted, or the file path might be incorrectly formatted for the operating system. For example, use \ as path separators on Windows, : on Mac OS, and / on Linux.
    NI-488:  Non-existent board.
    VI Path: C:\builds\auto air flow\My Application\auto air flow 1a.exe\Excel_Open.vi
Built Application or Shared Library (DLL): Make sure all dynamically loaded VIs were properly included in the build specification for the application or shared libr
The input to the New Report.vi template connector is C:\Air Flow Data Files\templates\psc.xlt.  Again this works in design so I believe the formatting is correct and the file does exist.
Why would this work in design environment but not the compiled program?  I recompiled several times and even tried reinstalling the report generation tool kit. Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated. I will be happy to supply more info if necessary.   thanks.

Okay, I found the solution by doing a search here on 'Error 7".  My thanks to those who have posted the solution in the past.  Regards
