Compile windows program in linux, output to elf.

I can compile a windows program in mingw32, but it's exported in exe format. Can I compile it to elf format? If so, how?

dragos240 wrote:I'm trying to use mingw32 to compile a windows native c file, but it compiles to exe. I am using linux. So....
... So, why not just compile it with gcc ?
If it is because you need some library (like a dll), you will need to find a Linux equivalent [and probably need some code changes]

    hi to all !

    tell me someone what does it mean and what can i do
    thanks

    This problem is happened with Solaris 10 and Sun Studio compile with 64bit. You get compile error or dbx will crash when you debug the program.
    Two correct solutions are to have all the Solaris 10 libraries affected by this bug patched or upgrade your system to Solaris 10 update 1. We have patches for our Sun Studio libraries
    SPARC platforms:
    119963-04 (Shared library patch for C++)
    120753-02 (libmtsk patch)
    x86 platforms:
    119964-05 (Shared library patch for C++)
    120754-02 (libmtsk patch)
    But We strongly suggest you to upgrade your OS system to Solaris 10 update 1 or later.
    In the mean time, if you can not do either 2 correct solutions above (means you have to stay with Solaris 10 and can't patch all the libraries), Sun Studio dbx group produced dbx patches as a work around solution for this crash problem.
    If you have Sun Studio 11, install dbx patch 121023 for SPARC and 121616 for x86
    If you have Sun Studio 10, install dbx patch 117844-04 for SPARC and 117845-04 for x86

  • Basic RMI program works in windows but not Linux

    Hello,
    I'm trying to learn RMI for a program at work.
    I have the book "Core Java 2 - Volume 2 - Advanced Features". Chapter 5 of this book is about RMI.
    The most basic example program they use works fine in Windows. However, when I try to run this same program under linux it doesn't work.
    For now, I'm not even trying to run a client (in linux)...just the server.
    Here is the server code.
    public class ProductServer
    public static void main(String args[])
    try
    System.out.println
    ("Constructing server implementations...");
    ProductImpl p1
    = new ProductImpl("Blackwell Toaster");
    ProductImpl p2
    = new ProductImpl("ZapXpress Microwave Oven");
    System.out.println
    ("Binding server implementations to registry...");
    Naming.rebind("rmi://172.20.101.1/toaster", p1);
    Naming.rebind("rmi://172.20.101.1/microwave", p2);
    System.out.println
    ("Waiting for invocations from clients...");
    catch(Exception e)
    e.printStackTrace();
    What is very interesting is that this call works
    Naming.rebind("rmi://172.20.101.1/toaster", p1);
    But the very next line
    Naming.rebind("rmi://172.20.101.1/microwave", p2);
    Throws this error ::
    java.rmi.UnmarshalException: Error unmarshaling return header: java.io.EOFException
    at sun.rmi.transport.StreamRemoteCall.executeCall(StreamRemoteCall.java:221)
    at sun.rmi.server.UnicastRef.invoke(UnicastRef.java:366)
    at sun.rmi.registry.RegistryImpl_Stub.rebind(RegistryImpl_Stub.java:133)
    at java.rmi.Naming.rebind(Naming.java:172)
    at ProductServer.main(ProductServer.java:35)
    I would very much appreciate the help. Thank You.

    We solved the problem
    Apparently, on the linux machine we had both gcc and the jdk installed
    the regualar compile command hit the jdk
    the rmic command used the gcc version of rmic
    the rmiregistry used the gcc version of rmiregistry
    the regular run command hit the jdk
    using the rmic and rmiregistry in the jdk made everything work fine
    I knew it had to be a stupid answer.

  • How to compile and run PRO*C programs in Linux

    Hi all,
    This is my first post in this forum.
    I have Oracle 9i installed in linux platform .
    How can i compile and run Pro*C programs in linux.(i mean any commands or procedure to run these programs)
    please help me in this regard.
    Thanks in advance,
    Trinath Somanchi,
    Hyderabad .

    (1) How to compile the Pro*c program U got to have a makefile to compile a Pro*c program. It helps u in compiling and creating an excutable. Once U have created a makefile , just call "make" and it will do the compilation and create the executable as well.
    For a sample makefile visit
    http://asktom.oracle.com/~tkyte/proc_makefile/
    (2) How to run the Pro*c program ? and Once U have created an executable, U shall call that directly as any other linux command. Make sure U have the permissions to run the executable. If not give the permissions using chmod 777 executable
    (3)How to get the output of the program ?Question 2 and 3 are the same. I mean running and getting a output are the same

  • Is the compilation done differently on Linux than on Windows?

    Hey guys,
    I am currently having some issues with a FPGA program with Softmotion not compiling.
    We are running out of options in terms of how to get this FPGA program compiled.
    So my question is does compiling on Linux have a different probability of compiling FPGAs?
    I have heard that Xilinx Compiler is meant for Linux so it runs more efficiently and faster,
    so I was just wondering if the compile method was different as well
    Jeff

    It doesn't matter if you run it on Windows or Linux.  The compiler was just optimized to run on Linux, therefore it can run faster on Linux.  But the compilation itself won't matter.
    I'd say it is time for you to go through your local NI representative to try to get some time with the NI Systems Engineering group.  They will likely find plently of places to help you optimize and fit your code in into an FPGA.

  • Can I install Linux for Windows on my Apple Mac and afterwards use old windows programs as PageMaker on my new Mac. If yes where can I find Linus windows for Mac

    Can I install Linux for Windows at my new Mac and afterwards use old Windows programs as Photo Shop and PageMaker on my Mac? If yes where at the Internet can I find Linux for Mac and Windows?

    What is your definition of a "Linux for Windows" ?
    There is Linux like Ubuntu which can be installed on a Mac
    See the UbuntuForuns here https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MactelSupportTeam
    And there is Microsoft Windows which can be installed and used on a Mac with Apples BootCamp http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/ or through Virtualization apps like Parallels, VMWare Fusion or VirtualBox.
    Windows Programs don't run in a Linux only in Windows.

  • Can't find (and possibly don't have) the -lglut -lGLU -lGL libraries... or at least when I try to compile a program, it returns with that error.  Any ideas (I really need to get this popgen program running on Lion)? Thx!

    Hi all,
        I'm trying to compile a population genetic software program onto my Mac Lion.  It was originally compiled to Tiger and worked beautifully.  But now I'm getting an error  'library not found for -lglut', and now I'm trying to figure out how to download the library. I've installed the command line code for Xcode, and am thinking I possibly missed installing the libraries.  I could be very wrong here... all I know is that I'm no longer near the people I would ask to help me with this so I'm asking you!  Thanks in advance for any help!  I guess my questions are: 1) where can I download the glut (potentially OpenGL) libraries (if I don't have them already)? And 2) once downloaded, how do I install it so the makefile will compile my program (in terminal, not Xcode)? Cheers,
    C

    Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
    '''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
    #Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
    #After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
    #Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
    #*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
    #*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
    #Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
    ##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
    ##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
    Please report back to see if this helped you!

  • Java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError when compile class in Weblogic Linux Env.

    Hi,
    I'm trying jay article ( http://jaysensharma.wordpress.com/2009/08/17/mdb3-0-sample-for-weblogic-application-server/ ) for send message
    to JMS, it works great in windows but in Linux is failed.
    I’m facing the issue when compile QueueSend class linux environment,
    but windows it works great.
    in windows I compile the class like this :
    C:\bea\user_projects\domains\MyDomain\bin>setDomainEnv.cmd
    C:\bea\user_projects\domains\MyDomain>java QueueSend t3://localhost:7001
    JMS Message Sent: Test Message Body with counter = 0
    JMS Message Sent: Test Message Body with counter = 1
    in Linux :
    after ./setDomainEnv,
    $bea\…\MYDOMAIN\bin >java QueueSend t3://localhost:7001
    Exception in thread “main” java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/jms/Message

    I think it cannot find the java_home or classpath properly, how to solve this issue?
    Really thanks in advance.
    Edited by: muhkah on 09-Apr-2010 19:58

    Hi Muhkah,
    Please add the *"<BEA_HOME>\modules\javax.jms_1.1.1.jar"* file also in the Client ClassPath.
    But the Best thing i will suggest it to Just add the "wlfullClient.jar" file in the client ClassPath...this is a very useful Jar file which solves many many issues. There is a very simple way to create this JAR file: http://jaysensharma.wordpress.com/2010/02/03/building-wlfullclient-jar/
    <BR>
    The advantage of using *"wlfullclient.jar"* is Just Make it once and then reuse this single Jar in any client Application which is going to interact with WebLogic. This Powerful Jar contains almost all the Classes which is needed by a Client.
    Now you can run your Client Program like this :
    java    -classpath    /app/bea10.3/wl_server/server/lib/wlfullclient.jar    QueueSend t3://localhost:7001
    Thanks

  • Keyboard-lock of swing program on Linux box

    I guess it should be some kind of incompatibleness of J2SE with some Linux platform. Isn't it?

    Hi.
    I have same problems on Ubuntu with Java 6 (all versions). I would like to use NetBeans or IntelliJ IDEA but it is not possible due to keyboard locks.
    I posted this bug
    https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/174281
    before I found some info about it:
    http://forums.java.net/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=189281
    http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6506617
    http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6568693
    I don't know from which part this bug comes, but I wonder why it isn't fixed yet. Does anybody else use NetBeans or IntelliJ IDEA on linux with Java 6 ?

My question is in which directory (path).... we need to save our (.java) programs... if we have to compile it at C prompt ?, as it is not compiling my program with javac command. I included the bin path in control panel > environments tab, but it didn't help me.
    Many thanks in advance
    Manish

    ahhh simple... windows processes pick up the PATH (et al) a process creation time... close cmd and try again.
    ... and you DO NOT put .java programs in the java system bin directory. That's just sooooo silly it's not funny!
    append :. (colon dot) to the CLASSPATH... classes with no package will compile and run in the present working directory.
    When you get into packages see: The K-Zone: Mastering the Java CLASSPATH

  • How to compile java programs? There is no javac for me!

    Hi, I'm starting to learn java and downloaded the java 1.4.0.1 standard edition from this website. However, after I installed the program, there is no javac to be found while there is a java.exe. I need javac to compile my program before I can interpret it but it is nowhere to be found!
    Did I download the wrong SDK version? I thank anyone in advance who can help me in the right direction!

    You must have the SDK to create programs. The Jre is a component of the SDK that can be downloaded separately if you only want to run programs.
    SDK downloads from here, use the row "Windows (all languages, including English)" and be sure to select the SDK COLUMN, not the JRE:

    JBO-26061: Error while opening JDBC connection.
    plus one error: unable to logon, wrong username and pasword
    anyone know how to solve this?
    i've checked out bc4j.xcfg to look for whether i have changed to the correct user name and password and it is all right.
