Compiling CS3 plugins on Xcode 5 or 6

I read in other discussion threads that you can compile CS3-CS4 plugins (the samples to begin with) in Xcode 6 DP now released. What changes are needed in the version of the odfrc-cmd that comes with CS3 SDK? Can I use the compiler from CS5?
I always get the "..odfrc-cmd: Bad CPU type in executable" because it's a PowerPC binary and it can't be run in 10.8 or 10.9 due to their lack of support for this type of executables (rosetta).
Thanks for your tips!

I agree with Curt,
in addition to his post:
OK, would upgrading to Bridge CS5 or 6 fix this problem? Or is this a system thing? And would Bridge CS5 or 6 work with PSE10?
Bridge is designed for use with Creative Suite applications an PS elements is not part of the Creative Suite or the Creative Cloud. It might be possible to use Bridge with PSE for opening files in but the advantage of using start up scripts for Photoshop is not available for PS elements.
I believe PSE 8 for Mac is the only version of PSE that came with Bridge (version 3, part of CS4) so that might be a route for you to follow as the cheapest option.
Also every new version of Bridge needs a new cache for all the files. (not a big deal but it takes some time with all your files. You have to select the main folder and use 'show items from subfolders' and then let it run overnight to recache again.
Can you specify what computer you are using. While the minimum required RAM is still advertised as 1 GB you certainly will gain from putting as much RAM as possible in your machine.

    There is no quick solution to converting a CS3 plugin into CS2 - especially on Mac.  You will have to get CodeWarrior (the supported version, search the forums for the version(s) and how to configure), add your code and 'reverse the porting guide/fix compile errors.

  • "Error running javac.exe compiler" when using ant to compile Eclipse plugin

    Hi
    I encounter an error "Error running C:\jdk1.5.0_06\bin\javac.exe compiler" when building my project using ant1.7.
    My project has 10 eclipse plugins, and each plugin is compiled by invoking following ant target
    <!-- ===================================================================
    Compile specified plugin
         target parameters:
              param.plugin.dir: the plugin directory
              param.plugin.targetJarFile: the name of jar file for the given plugin
              param.plugin.src.dir: the folder name of source codes. Note: it is relative path name
              param.fork: indicate if another process is forked to run javac
    =================================================================== -->
    <target name="compilePlugin">
         <!-- Prepare compile environment -->
         <!-- Delete obsolete build folder -->
         <delete dir="${param.plugin.dir}/${build.dir}" quiet="true"/>
         <!-- Delete obsolete jar file -->
         <delete file="${param.plugin.dir}/${param.plugin.targetJarFile}" quiet="true"/>
         <mkdir dir="${param.plugin.dir}/${build.dir}"/>
         <!-- Compile source codes -->
         <javac      srcdir="${param.plugin.dir}/${param.plugin.src.dir}"
                   destdir="${param.plugin.dir}/${build.dir}"
                   failonerror="${javacFailOnError}"
                   verbose="${javacVerbose}"
                   debug="${javacDebugInfo}"
                   deprecation="${javacDeprecation}"
              optimize="${javacOptimize}"
                   source="${javacSource}"
                   target="${javacTarget}"
                   fork="${param.fork}" memoryInitialSize="256m" memoryMaximumSize="512m">
              <classpath refid="compile.classpath" />
         </javac>
         <!-- Create plugin jar file -->
         <copy todir="${param.plugin.dir}/${build.dir}" failonerror="true">
              <fileset dir="${param.plugin.dir}/${param.plugin.src.dir}" excludes="**/*.java, **/package.htm*" />
         </copy>
         <jar jarfile="${param.plugin.dir}/${param.plugin.targetJarFile}" basedir="${param.plugin.dir}/${build.dir}"/>
         <delete dir="${param.plugin.dir}/${build.dir}" quiet="true"/>
    </target>
    Since each of first 9 plugins contains less than 500 java source files, we always set "param.fork" to false when invoking this ant target.
    For the 10th plugin, it has about 1000 source files. If we set "param.fork" to false, we will get the error "Error running javac.exe compiler". So we have to set "param.fork" to true when compiling it. This week, this plugin contains about 1250 files and we get the same error again when compiling it. I tried to increase the "memoryMaximumSize" to "768", but still couldn't get through it.
    BTW, There are about 150 jar files in our classpath for compiling plugins. Do many jar files cause this problem?
    Any help is highly appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Oceanman

    I encountered a very similar error and I was able to resolve it by removing the following parameters from the javac task:
    fork="${param.fork}"
    memoryInitialSize="256m"
    memoryMaximumSize="512m"My values were not the same as yours, before I removed them, the values were set to:
    fork="true"
    memoryInitialSize="256m"
    memoryMaximumSize="256m" Not sure why this fixed my problem but it did. I was using Ant 1.7 and Java 1.6_07 hope this helps.

  • Ultra cs3 plugins

    Hi firends,
    I am using PPR CS3 and I have got some clips with chroma situation so I am using green screen from PPr cs3 but I could not make it properly but I heared from adobe forums that I can use ultra cs3 instead. Can any body tell me where can I get ultra cs3 plugins download? Idea?
    Thank you,
    Jey.

    Ultra CS3 is part of the Production Studio. If you do not have that suite, you are out of luck. It is no longer available as a separate program. BTW, it never was a plug-in, it always was a separate program. You can try with Keylight in AE.

  • Can a CS3 plugin be built with Xcode 3.1 and the CS4 SDK?

    My goal is to build a plugin that loads in CS3 and CS4 on both the Mac and Windows platforms. For the Mac development I have a machine with Xcode 3.1. When I try to build the automationfilter/hidden plugin sample I get a compiler error in PIDefines.h because some typedefs conflict with Apple headers. The CS4 SDK seems to have corrected these issues so I am now trying to build the samples from CS4SDK. The build is successful, but when I try to load the plugin into CS3 I get an error that causes Photoshop to abort (after a friendly dialog box telling me it is going to abort).
    I am wondering if the mix of tools and SDK versions that I am using would be expected to work, or if what I have done is known to fail.
    Thanks
    -- Bennett

    I found a solution to the question. The CS4 sample I was building (Automation/Hidden) was causing PS CS3 to fail when I tried to launch the plug-in. It turns out that the failure is due to one of the suites having a different version in CS3 than CS4. The sample was from CS4, so it was requesting a version of the suite that did not exist in PS CS3.
    To fix the problem I made a copy of the samplecode/common/sources/PIUSuites.cpp file. I placed my copy in the samplecode/automation/automation/common directory and modified my Xcode project to use it instead of the one from common/sources. In the file I changed this line:
    AutoSuite<PSActionDescriptorProcs> sPSActionDescriptor(kPSActionDescriptorSuite, kPSActionDescriptorSuiteVersion);
    to be like this instead:
    AutoSuite<PSActionDescriptorProcs> sPSActionDescriptor(kPSActionDescriptorSuite, kPSActionDescriptorSuitePrevVersion);
    Doing this causes the plug-in to load and execute just fine in CS3.
    Cheers

  • Compiling a CS6 indesign plugin with XCode 5?

    Now that I have moved to Mavericks and XCode 5.x, I need to recompile  a previously working InDesign CS6 plug-in.   I get errors in the precompile stage.  I tried putting XCode 4.x on my computer and it also gets precompile errors.  Probably something missing in the Mavericks libraries that used to be there.
    How can I get that plug-in to compile once more?

    InDesign CS6 and Plug-in are the Carbon application.
    You can't build carbon application with  Xcode 5 and above 4.3.

  • Getting an strange error in "PluginPrefix.pch" while compiling a plugin code with InDesign CS4 SDK.

    Hi everybody,
    Currently trying to compile/build the existing Plugin code (C++) with InDesign CS4 SDK on my Mac OS X 10.5 machine but getting following strange errors.
      /Volumes/MAC Extended/Inbetween Extended/Visual Studio/Adobe InDesign CS4 SDK/source/precomp/gcc/PluginPrefix.pch:26:27: error: MemoryStatics.h: No such file or directory
      /Volumes/MAC Extended/Inbetween Extended/Visual Studio/Adobe InDesign CS4 SDK/source/precomp/gcc/PluginPrefix.pch:39:30: error: PluginBuildFlags.h: No such file or directory
      /Volumes/MAC Extended/Inbetween Extended/Visual Studio/Adobe InDesign CS4 SDK/source/precomp/gcc/PluginPrefix.pch:40:28: error: AnsiBasedTypes.h: No such file or directory
      /Volumes/MAC Extended/Inbetween Extended/Visual Studio/Adobe InDesign CS4 SDK/source/precomp/gcc/PluginPrefix.pch:41:26: error: ShukHeaders.cp: No such file or directory
    Though above mentioned files are present at the following directory
    /Volumes/../../../Adobe InDesign CS4 SDK/source/precomp/common/
    Note : However initially I did not find “MemoryStatics.h” and “AnsiBasedTypes.h” files in the installed SDK directory. I have downloaded them from the net and copied those into the above mentioned directory.
    I am not much familiar with Mac OS environment and compiling/building C++ code with Xcode. Can anyone help me to resolve this issue (might be very trivial and related to Xcode project configuration) ?

    Thanks for the quick response,
    Yes, current build settings include path shortcuts as mentioned below and it also contains “$(CS_SDK_PATH)/source/public/includes” path in HEADER_SEARCH_PATHS settings.  But still I am getting the same error: MemoryStatics.h: No such file or directory
    CS_SDK_PATH= /Volumes/MAC Extended/Inbetween Extended/Visual Studio/Adobe InDesign CS4 SDK
    CS_SDK_PRJ_PATH=/Volumes/MAC Extended/Inbetween Extended/Visual Studio/InBetweenDev/Projects/InBetweenCS/IBClientPluginCS3/prjCS4/mac
    Just for clarification : my Plugin code /project files are not inside the InDesign SDK (build/mac/prj). All the plugin project is outside of the InDesign SDK directory. Thus above mentioned CS_SDK_PATH and CS_SDK_PRJ_PATH are completely different.
    Is it expected that the plugin code/project files should be inside the InDesign SDK/build/mac/prj  directory only ? or is it okay if we put it in the completely another directory structure and modify the  SDK_PRJ_PATH accordingly (as in my case) ?
    Please let me know if you want me to elaborate the situation further.

  • Convert Indesign CS2 plugin to Xcode 3?

    Hi all,
    I want to compile a sample plugin project given in the InDesign CS2 SDK using xcode 3.
    How can i go about this?
    Any documentation about porting InDesign CS2 plugin code to Xcode 3?
    I want to do this since im not able to get CW 9.3 to develop a CS2 plugin.
    Thanks

    If your goal is to use Xcode to write CS2 plugin, you can forget about it.
    My understanding is, CS2 is locked with CodeWarrior's ABI and Xcode (GCC) uses a different ABI.

    We aren't trying to evade the question. You have had the misfortune to post a few days after a deluge of people trying to use Xcode4 for the first time after purchasing it via the Mac App store.
    I DON'T WANT TO USE AN IDE LIKE ECLIPSE! Currently I am using Textwrangler and I set up some applescripts to automatically run Terminal and type commands. I currently am able to compile and run C#, Java and C++ with Textwrangler but I'd rather use Xcode as it's also great for Obj-C.
    Again, you suffer from a bit of misfortune. Xcode4 is more difficult to mold to your own tastes than Xcode 3 was. A quick and easy way to accomplish this would be to write a makefile for your Java project. That process hasn't gotten too much more difficult in Xcode4. Then you can use Xcode as an editor and IDE and let make handle the building.
    I'm not sure why, as I have the Mac Developer License but I'm unable to go on the actual Dev Forums, I get an error.
    If you recently signed up, it may take a few days before you have full access.
