Completed video

http://vimeo.com/66616325
The location: an island on a lake in Ontario.
The event: High water made it necessary to check the boathouse for damage.
Equipment:
Canon 20D with intervalometer and tripod. I only included the timelapse gear as an afterthought. The iceout caught me by surprise.
It was the first time I had tried a real timelapse and I couldn't remember the settings, so I had to wing it. I was also rather busy with other things.
1,300 images over 11 hours.
Previous experience: This is my third video edit, and first timelapse.
Software: LRTimelapse + Lightroom to assemble and edit the timelapse sequence
Premiere Elements 11 to assemble the slideshow and timelapse
Photoshop Elements 11 to edit the stills.
What I learned:
-Batch edit still photos in Photoshop to reduce file size before importing to project assets. On a previous video I didn't do this and my laptop got so hot trying to downsample and render that I had to sit it on icepacks. Plus it took 1/2 hour for each render.
-When I got stuck trying to solve a problem, I asked on this forum and received immediate and spot-on help from some very knowlegeable and patient people.
-Audio: Vimeo said they preferred AAC. I right clicked the music in Itunes, convert to AAC, saved to desktop. Premiere had no problem working with these files.
-Uploading to Vimeo: I was expecting to have to go through a list of exporting choices and then save to file and then upload.
The new export to Vimeo (or You Tube etc) feature was great. One file type choice and hit go. It took about 15-20 minutes to upload. This is a real asset.
I know this video is a little rough around the edges, but I had a lot of learning to do and wanted to get one under my belt.
The video was supposed to fade to black. Somehow that got lost.

Glad to give more details.
I shot in Program mode. This was essentially the same as Auto because I had nothing pre-set.
I was in a rush to set up and didn't want to risk losing everything by messing with Manual mode, neutral density filters, etc.
It turned out not to be a bad choice because I ended up shooting in low light. It was a lot darker out than the timelapse shows. The tradeoff was some increased flicker I guess.
Auto focus off, image stabilization off
Exposures went from 1/250 @ f10 to 13 secs @ f3.5.
JPEG in small/fine file size. I didn't want to run out of space on the card. (Turned out I had lots of room)
1 image every 30 secs. It would have been less jerky with a shorter interval, but 1300 images was plenty.
Processing: Back and forth between LRTimelapse and Lightroom. It was all brand new to me so there was a steep learning curve.
Exported to Premiere as mp4 movie.
Audio: I already knew I wanted to use some of the sound track from Koyaanisqatsi, which is in my opinion the most impressive piece of cinematography there is. It really opened my eyes to the possibilities of timelapse, even though, or especially because, it was shot with motion picture film.
The audio was the last thing I added and I didn't take as much care with editing and synching as I should have.
If I did it over I would choose more coherent sections of the clips, apply volume fades, and then time stretch the video to match - easy in this case because there is nothing resembling normal motion in the clips. Maybe learn how to use Beat Detect.
All I know is Glass's music makes a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
Here is a fun video I made last winter that taught me what little I know of synching audio and video. I had a Nikon 5200 duct taped to my helmet. www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9ZlbuNDYS8http
I hope I've answered some of your questions.

  • How do I create a complete video program for 6 hours of event video?

I have used Premiere Elements 13 to create 10 Projects of individual presentations recorded in HD during a 6 hour conference. The chair of the conference wants a complete video record that could be given to participants. The totality is too large for a DVD but might fit on a large flash drive to be given to the participants. Each Project is a record of an individual presentation. I know how to create the individual videos of each presentation with Premiere Elements 13 and I can create DVDs. Multiple DVDs seem like a logistical problem and not everyone has Blu-Ray. I would like to have a menu like a DVD to take the viewer to any one presentation or to start at the beginning. The final product does not need to be HD but should be as good as possible.
This seems beyond what Photoshop Elements can do. Is it? How do I create the finished product?

Please clarify. You talk about Premiere Elements 13 and then you ask at the end
This seems beyond what Photoshop Elements can do. Is it? How do I create the finished product?
In Premiere Elements 13, the burn to products are the only end products with menus. The webDVD (flash file with menus)
has been discontinued in Premiere Elements 13.
How much of your HD source Timeline content can you fit on a DVD double layer single sided disc destined for DVD-VIDEO Widescreen on that DVD disc?
As a rough guess-estimate, when you have the disc in the burner tray, look at the burn dialog Quality area's Space Required and Bitrate just before you would hit Burn button in the burn dialog ("Fit Content to Available Space" with check mark next to it.)
The DVD double layer single sided disc is labelled 8.5 GB/240 minutes. In reality that 8.5 GB is 7.95 GB.

  • Why isn't there any complete video editor in the N...

Hi!   Got a bit disappointed in my N86 when i discovered the very very poor "video editor", in which you can put in a sound, text either in the beginning or in the end, and stitch together videos.  I find this very poor compared to my N95 video editor, where i could decide to put the text and sound where the hell i wanted, and have different transitions between em'.
So Nokia, where the **bleep** it my fully complete video editor!??!  **bleep**, it couldnt be to hard to put it in, could it?
If you know why they decided to ignore a video editor on a 8MP camera phone, that worked fine on a few years old cell, please tell me!

The N86 seems to be the only current Nokia which has the video editor. It's been a rarity since the N95 8GB. Presumably it's in for a wholesale re-write or something.

    Thanks for the follow up.
From what you wrote, you have Premiere Elements 10. Is that on Windows 7 64 bit or other. For now I will assume Windows 7 64 bit. If version 10 is on Windows 7 or 8 64 bit it is a 64 bit application running in the 64 bit system which makes it possible for full use of the 64 bit resources. That is good news especially when you are trying to take a large project to completion.
You set up the project preset in the new project dialog to match the properties of your source media. That setting directs the program to establish the right space in the Edit Mode Monitor for editing purposes. That project preset also directs the program as to what disc menu set (s, w, or hd) will be available to you in the disc menu section. The project preset also has more subtle effects on the project settings.
What is you plan for exporting your Timeline, export to file saved to the computer hard drive or burn to disc DVD or Blu-ray? Keep in mind that the setting for the project preset do not prohibit variations in the export choice under most conditions. If you post a description of your source media and how you would like to export it, I will offer some very specific guidelines on that.
If you do go the purchased book route, please try for one which is specific to your version 10. There has been a marked change in interface starting with version 11. Often principles remain the same from version to version, but features do not. And, I always write "It is very frustrating to be armed with principles when you cannot find a feature."
I suggest that you start with the Premiere Elements 10 Help PDF and then decide what next.

A lot of these links that say version 10, roll over to 11.
Steve Grisetti, the moderator of this forum, writes books on Premiere Elements if you are interested in the purchased book route.
Hope the information above is helpful. Above all do not hesitate to ask if you have questions on your Premiere Elements workflow or need clarification on anything written.
    Thanks.

  • Will not allow me to share - new imovie with mavericks - completed video- try to share - neither buttons work.

Am having no luck sharing my completed video. Neither button seems to work - not sure what to do to export so I can use it.  Recently installed Mavericks and then IMovie update along with IPhoto update -

yes.  After wasting a couple of hours trying to get it to work - got on to Apple support.  After over an hour of them trying everything we decided to bin the app. and download another.  You have to make sure it's deleted from the trash (27,000 files) before apple store will recognize the purchase and the fact it is not on your system.
Download worked perfect.  But there's more.
Whilst trying to doing something unrelated this morning my system froze so I had to press on button to get a forced re-start.  Just produced three more videos - not working again!! Frustrated from Somerset

  • Storing/Managing all the raw footage and all the completed videos

The iMovie '06 instructional video on the Apple pages mentioned that after we edit out our video and it is complete and ready to be viewed, we can upload it back into the camcorder so that from there the video may be viewed on a TV etc.
This reminds me of something that I thought about a while back and which has to do with keeping copies of our work. My thinking is to put the iMovies into my website but I CAN see my wanting to play it on my 50" TV.
    Questions, then:
    1. If you upload your finished video from the Mac back into your camcorder, then in fact you have a copy right there. So then, DO YOU STILL KEEP THE ORIGINAL CASSETTE OF RAW FOOTAGE AS BACKUP, JUST IN CASE?
    2. In what order would I save to cassette etc if I would like to upload the video to my website AND keep the finished copy in a cassette in my closet as well as in my external hard drive? I ask because I recall earlier that at a certain point, one cannot do certain things with the video. I wish I could recall what I had read.
    3. Here is what I would like to end up with:
    a. The video on my website
    b. The complete video in a cassette so that I could play it on TV if I decide to.
    c. The complete video in my external hard drive.
    d. And actually, WOULD you retain a cassette with all of the raw footage? Or in your external hard drive?
    And the final question is:
HOW DO YOU ARRANGE ALL OF THESE BACKUPS AND COPIES IN YOUR EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE? I am foreseeing options that I can't answer.
For example, do I keep all raw footage in one category, and then all completed video in another category?
Or do I keep things divided up by the particular video itself? By that I mean, do you segregate your backups by all of the raw footage and finished video for TRIP TO ALBANIA, all raw footage and finished video for MARTY'S BIRTHDAY PARTY, all raw footage and finished video for GHOSTS IN THE GARAGE?
And that's just talking about the video clips that you keep INSIDE your computer.
    Thank you for your thoughts.

    Ohh and another thing!

videodisc with front row Elgato eye tv or equinox
catagorice as fiction drama cartoon explsit andson

    Dear Kjolner.....
I'm afraid I am lost with your replies because the terminology in the answers are beyond my understanding. When you say that you save something to tape, do you mean, "back to that same small cassette"? I do not know what an .img file is. I am not clear on saving "small segments" on QT. I would not know how to do that, anyhow. I do not understand what a video -ts folder would be. <gulp> <<double gulp>>
I DO have Tiger and will buy the next one up when it seems safe to do so.
I recently bought a LaCie 500 gigabyte external hard drive to store everything and lighten up my iMac internal hard drive and make it faster. I had to buy that external HD because while attempting to upload my footage from my Sony digital video camera recorder DCR-TRV 11, my iMac sent up messages that I had insufficient space for the activity.. something to that effect.

  • Is there any chance the 121212 Concert for Sandy Relief will come out as a complete Video to BUY or RENT?

Is there any chance the 121212 Concert for Sandy Relief will come out as a complete Video to BUY or RENT?

  • Is there a way to edit the text in a completed video?

    Hello community,
I am completly new to Ae and I have a question:
How can I edit text in downloaded video sequence? I can't find any kind of text layer and it doesn't work with the text tool as well.
    I hope someone can help!
    Thank you!

Video is just pixels. Always has been. If there something in a video that you want to change then you have to either mask it out then replace it or paint or copy some new pixels over the thing you want to replace. You can add a layer, change the color, or do anything else you want to the video that changes the pixels, but as soon as you render the video you just have pixels.
There are some video players that will allow you to add things like synchronized subtitles, but those kinds of things, including links, hotspots, and other interactivity are a function of the player and they have nothing to do with the rendered video. You have to use software that changes these elements in the player, but that has nothing to do with the original video.
It would be nice if video could be just opened and you could move things around or change the text, but video in its current form is just like a photograph. You can't edit it without changing the pixels because the only thing there is pixels.

  • Problems Importing Complete Video in DVD Studio Pro

I have video that I edited in Final Cut Pro and exported as a QuickTime file (.mov), with chapter markers. I checked the video in QuickTime player and all my chapter markers were present, and the entire video played through the end. The whole movie is 52 minutes in length. However, two problems have arisen once the video was imported into DVD Studio Pro.
    1. All my chapter markers disappeared.
    2. The entire audio track is present and will play through the end of the movie, but the video cuts off more than 6 minutes before the end of the movie.
I have tried several options to get this video to import correctly. Sometimes the chapter markers remain, but I can never get the video track to import completely. I would greatly appreciate any advice, as this has become very frustrating. Thank you.

Since my last post, I have tried importing a couple different versions of the video file. One attempt included chopping the video file into 2 parts and exporting them two separate .mov files from FCP. I then tried to insert them into the track editor as separate entities that played back-to-back. This led me to the discovery that DVDSP will not let me have a video track that plays any longer than 00:45:58:21. Why this is, I do not know, but I am convinced this problem lies within DVDSP, not in the video file. Is there a setting somewhere that limits the length of a video?

  • How do I keep a completed video from running on past the end, showing black screen?

My completed Premiere Elements 9 video does not end where it should, it runs on for another five minutes - showing black screen. Do I need to place an end marker to stop the video or change a setting? This has not happened on other videos I've created.

    Steve,
You were right. There was a straggler lurking out there. I deleted it and was able to get the Work Area Bar to snap back to the correct video length.

  • On complete video then ...?

How do I open another URL once my video has finished playing? Is there a way of detecting if the video is still playing? I have several ideas for How, none for the syntax to do it. Any suggestions?

There is no current support within Edge Animate for video, but it does support working with such tags within the outputted HTML. If you need help embedding videos, check out this forum post (http://forums.adobe.com/message/4734571). As far as detecting the video completion, I would suggest using an API like this (http://videojs.com/) to catch the "ended" event when the video is playing, then act on it accordingly.

  • Lync can't complete video call to VCS via B2BUA

    Hi folks,
I did the implementation in my customer of VCS gateway with Lync 2013 using B2BUA.
    But the call dont work,
    The log in VCS is:
    tvcs: Event="Call Rejected" Service="SIP" Src-ip="10.252.48.42" Src-port="49817" Src-alias-type="SIP" Src-alias="sip:[email protected]" Dst-alias-type="SIP" Dst-alias="sip:[email protected]" Call-serial-number="b0076012-b61e-4581-bc2a-707e6668e817" Tag="1cb85667-c012-4936-927d-deed07f92a8a" Detail="Request Terminated" Protocol="TCP" Response-code="487" Level="1" UTCTime="2014-11-24 17:50:36,725"
The number [email protected] is the AutoAttendant of MCU.
The version in VCS is 8.2.2.

Again, it would be important to understand the whole call flow and setup.
Do i see it right that you have a dedicated GW vcs and a VCS for the video endpoints where the mcu is registered?
You showed the h323 setup of the MCU but how is the call hitting the MCU h323 or SIP?
The zones and info are TLS but the call info you showed is TCP, which call leg is that?
Please reach out to your Cisco Partner if its you order the encryption key for the MCU (if its available in your country, but as you use TLS on the VCS I would assume so).
