Complex bar chart/time line design problem encountered

Greetings,
I am struggling with a Crystal reports design issue and I am hoping that all of you gurus out there might be able to help me.
I need to create a graph displaying usage of industrial-type equipment over a time range. The graph should be something like a stacked bar chart but each bar needs to display multiple segments of the same colour.
For example, each piece of equipment can have the following usage types: idle, full production, half production, out of use.
Usage could be:
08:00-09:00 out of use
09:00-10:00 idle
10:00-11:00 half-production
11:00-11:15 idle
11:15-12:00 half production
12:00-13:00 full production
13:00-14:00 half production
14:00-14:15 idle
etc.
All of this needs to be displayed in a single bar per peice of equipment. The date range may span multiple day.
I hope someone can help me out,
zaroblan

Hi Robert
Create a formula field with usage types: idle, full production, half production, out of use and use this formula field in "On change of" in your chart.
Create another formula field with the calculations required and use that in "Show value" in the chart.
Hope this helps!!

  • Bar chart and Line chart in a single chart??

    Hello,
    Was wondering if there is any way to create a bar chart and line chart in a single Flash or SVG chart? If not, are there any plans to introduce such a chart type in the future releases?
    Regards,
    Dev

    Dev,
    I don't think you can do that using standard Flash or SVG. However, you can do this
    using my XML Chart Package
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:58
    and the instructions given on
    http://www.maani.us/xml_charts/index.php?menu=Gallery&submenu=Composite
    You can modify the package to do that for you.

  • Urgent: Combination of stacked bar chart and line chart

    Hi,
    I have the following request: First I need series depending on the year (no problem) and two stacks for each series (first problem). Now I need two line, line 1 for total of stack 1 and line 2 for total of stack 2. Both lines should have a label showing the difference from one to next series in percent.
    Can something like this be done in BI Publisher. I got an excel sheet with such a chart, so it is possible there. Any templates, hints or tipps?
    I need this very urgent because it's the main report of my project. So if this is not working I can stop the project and have to find another reporting tool.
    Thanks

    I've made again some tests by myself and recognized that there's something strange in the chart.
    When I create a stacked bar chart with values of DURATION, labels for TYPE_NAME and series of YEAR the first thing is, that it is not ordered. So how can this be done?
    The second error, is hard to explain ...
    Let's say I've the following values:
            Type1     Type2     Type3
    2005    1            2             3
    2006    4            5             6
    2007    7            8             9I would expect the following chart:
    2005     2006     2007
    1             4          7            Type1
    2             5          8            Type2
    3             6          9            Type3But the chart shows me the following:
    2005     2006     2007
    1             7          4            Type1
    5             2          8            Type2
    3             6          9            Type3You can see, the values are totally mixed, the code of the chart is the following:
    chart:
    <Graph seriesEffect="SE_AUTO_GRADIENT" graphType="BAR_VERT_STACK">
    <Title text="" visible="true" horizontalAlignment="CENTER"/>
    <MarkerText visible="true" markerTextPlace="MTP_CENTER" />
    <LocalGridData colCount="{count(xdoxslt:group(.//ROW,  'YEAR'))}" rowCount="{count(xdoxslt:group(.//ROW,  'TYPE_NAME'))}">
    <RowLabels>
    <xsl:for-each-group xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" select=".//ROW" group-by="TYPE_NAME">
    <Label>
    <xsl:value-of select="current-group()/TYPE_NAME"/>
    </Label>
    </xsl:for-each-group>
    </RowLabels>
    <ColLabels>
    <xsl:for-each-group xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" select=".//ROW" group-by="YEAR">
    <Label>
    <xsl:value-of select="current-group()/YEAR"/>
    </Label>
    </xsl:for-each-group>
    </ColLabels>
    <DataValues>
    <xsl:for-each-group xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" select=".//ROW" group-by="TYPE_NAME">
    <RowData>
    <xsl:for-each-group select="current-group()" group-by="YEAR">
    <Cell>
    <xsl:value-of select="sum(current-group()/DURATION)"/>
    </Cell>
    </xsl:for-each-group>
    </RowData>
    </xsl:for-each-group>
    </DataValues>
    </LocalGridData>
    </Graph>Otherwise I had made the following to have a stacked bar for duration and one for outage:
    chart:
    <Graph seriesEffect="SE_AUTO_GRADIENT" graphType="BAR_VERT_STACK">
    <Title text="" visible="true" horizontalAlignment="CENTER"/>
    <LocalGridData colCount="{count(xdoxslt:group(.//ROW,  'YEAR')) * 2}" rowCount="{count(xdoxslt:group(.//ROW,  'TYPE_NAME'))}">
    <RowLabels>
    <xsl:for-each-group xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" select=".//ROW" group-by="TYPE_NAME">
    <Label>
    <xsl:value-of select="current-group()/TYPE_NAME"/>
    </Label>
    </xsl:for-each-group>
    </RowLabels>
    <ColLabels>
    <xsl:for-each-group xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" select=".//ROW" group-by="YEAR">
    <xsl:sort select="YEAR"/>
    <Label>
    <xsl:value-of select="current-group()/YEAR"/>
    </Label>
    <Label />
    </xsl:for-each-group>
    </ColLabels>
    <DataValues>
    <xsl:for-each-group xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" select=".//ROW" group-by="TYPE_NAME">
    <RowData>
    <xsl:for-each-group select="current-group()" group-by="YEAR">
    <Cell>
    <xsl:value-of select="sum(current-group()/DURATION)"/>
    </Cell>
    <Cell>
    <xsl:value-of select="sum(current-group()/OUTAGE)"/>
    </Cell>
    </xsl:for-each-group>
    </RowData>
    </xsl:for-each-group>
    </DataValues>
    </LocalGridData>
    </Graph>The only thing I miss is a label for each stack, what is shown (so duration or outage) and of course the line.
    Thanks for any help

  • Stacked Bar chart and Line graphs

    I have a report in Crystal which has stacked bar chart and a line graph together in one report.
    Is it possible to do the same thing in WebI . Can anybody share the experience.

  • Complex JFX Chart: Is this design possible?

    Hi,
    our designer provided me with a screen design for some statistics page in our application. [Screen design.|http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/850/screenug.png/] Sorry for the obsfucation but I think the idea is still visible.
    On the left there are controls which enable/disable data series. The one in orange is highlighted (mouse over). The blue data series needs to have a text labeling it. On the bottom there is a label for each column (the column width depends on the data). The last column needs to look a little different than the others and needs to have a label in it (notice the grey shadow in the green area on the right).
    I browsed trough the API docs trying to figure out how to implement this. I think the curve part can be implemented using the approach described here. But thats not a hard requirement, we could start with straight lines here.
    So what is giving me a headache is:
    - variable column width
    - label for the blue lines
    - last column other than everything else (well that might be able with some css trickery and a bit of code adding style classes)
    I am open for suggestions how to implement this with plain javafx2 (as a last resort we could use open source code and adapt the skins or even base the work on LineChart or something). Any help is welcome.
    good night
    Andreas

    Yeah, thats right. I thought that I can handle to whole statistics part of the application in a few hours without looking at the designs in detail, so tomorrow we want to deliver a pre alpha to our customer and i need to improvise a bit. But yeah I think I will have to code, so what would you base the work on? Extending LineChart?

  • Stacked bar chart x axis crunching up

    Post Author: Pranab
    CA Forum: Xcelsius and Live Office
    I have purchased Crystal Xcelsius Workgroup 4.5. I have created a dashboard in which I have used webservices call to get data from database.
    One of the three charts of my dashboard is a stacked bar chart. Now my problem is, when the webservice gets data and refresh the chart, the x-axis of it becomes squeezed and the main chart becomes very small. It becomes so in runtime. However in design mode i didnt notice such behavior.
    But same flash file s showing fine when I am using it somewhere else.
    I am facing big trouble, as I tried to search in web about this problem, but couldnt find such case.

  • BAR CHART

    Dear Experts,
    My exposure to portal is very limited and i dont know much about portal development, so i was hoping if u could give me some direction.
    We are in the middle of portal upgrade E6. When we run a query through portal, it now gives us this wonderful tool bar at the top with buttons such as Table, Bar Chart, Pie Chart, Line Chart, 3D Bar Chart, Swap Axes, Info, Exceptions, Conditions etc etc.
    By default the result set is dispayed as table. For few reports, when we click on Bar Chart, it works well, it displays the data in the Bar Chart format. The problem is for SOME, it doesnt. It just shows, color codes for each key, but doenst show the chart itself.
    For one report it even gave a error message to the effect as "there's too much data to display as chart".
    Can someone help me, where should i look at, how can this be fixed ?
    Please advise.
    Thank you,
    TI

  • Automatically stop at end of clip on time line

    Dear All,
    im using fcp ( final cut pro) as playback server. I creat run down on time line, The problem i m facing, it continues playing after the desired clip finished. I want it to be stopped on the last frame of the played clip. ( do not play next one)

    You won't find an option that plays only a selected portion in the timeline without using the in/out - play in to out option. That's the way it was designed. The only other way to make sure you can do it is to make separate timelines for each clip.

  • SVG CHart error ORA-20001 with Stacked Bar Chart HTML DB 1.6.0.00.87

    Hi,
    during I put a How-To into execution (How To Create a Stacked Bar Chart) I'll get the following error code:
    SVG Chart error:ORA-20001:line_Chart error:ORA-20001:
    get_data error:ORA-20001:Parse error:ORA009
    (see http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/htmldb/howtos/index.html)
    This Situation occurs when i add a second series to the
    chart. The first series works fine. I've used the following SQL-Statement:
    select null l, sales_month, revenue from (select to_char(o.order_timestamp,'Mon YYYY') sales_month, sum(oi.quantity * oi.unit_price) revenue, to_date(to_char(o.order_timestamp,'Mon YYYY'),'Mon YYYY') sales_month_order from DEMO_PRODUCT_INFO p, DEMO_ORDER_ITEMS oi, DEMO_ORDERS o where o.order_timestamp <= (trunc(sysdate,'MON')-1)and o.order_timestamp > (trunc(sysdate-365,'MON'))and o.order_id = oi.order_id and oi.product_id = p.product_id and p.category = 'Audio' group by to_char(o.order_timestamp,'Mon YYYY') order by sales_month_order);
    Please help.

    Detlev

    Well,
    I've just been struggling for a couple of hours with a cluster bar chart giving the same problem.
    The problem is definitely with "ORDER BY".
    I guess the graphing chart is taking the sql query as a string and then does some other manipulation on it which ends abnormally when you include the order by clause.
    I presume that if you embed the query in a
    SELECT * FROM (<actual query with order by>)
    it might mitigate the problem.

  • How load variables to a movie clip on a masked layer on my main time line

    the problem I have is that I been trying to load text from a
    text file news.txt into a movie clip on my main time line the
    problem is when the layer where the video clip is locates is masked
    the variables will not load, but it does work when the layer is
    unmasked, but then the website does not work the way it is suposed
    to look.
    any Idea on how I can get arround this????

    PArt of the problem will be due to declaring the uiLoader inside of a function.  When you do that you limit its scope to within that function.  You should declare it outside of any function if you need to access it in more than one function.
    import flash.events.MouseEvent;
    import fl.motion.MotionEvent;
    var uiLoader:UILoader;
    var targetObj:Object;
    The other problems I see regard the line you point to.  It is not spelling the name the same, using a lowercase "l". Also, if you want to target what the UILoader contains, you should target its "content" property, as in...
    targetObj = uiLoader.content.mask_01

  • Stacked Column Chart with Line

    Hi
    I need to Create a Stacked Column Chart representing 1 set of measures with a Line representing a target.
    I want to create a chart where the Sales Amount in different Sectors is represented as a stacked column and the targets are represenetd as a line.
    Currently BO supports Bar charts with line.
    Does anyone know if such a feature will be supported in the new release of BO XI. Also is it possible to raise a request for this feature to be included in the new release
    TIA

    We are also a 30 persons department (Marketing) using in the same BO charts (since 2001) quarters made of :
    - first single column ( 2014 billing in a query1)
    - second stacked column (2015 billing +2015  firm orders backlog, 2015 frame orders backlog in a query2)
    - third single column (2016 backlog in a query3)
    and a superposed budget line
    the first and the third column are offset respectively to the left and right of the second column by blank and dummy single columns of data called ghost1 and ghost2. 2016 is still empty here but the principle is clear.
    This principle is used liberally in 200 + different reports. Also with transparent columns and other complicated, but graphically intuitive reports.
    How can we continue to use this very natural representation of our several hundred million $ business. I have not found the mixed single column, stack column and line option in BO XI 3.1 . Please re-develop one asap if necessary. SAP should please please report asap on the recovery timeline of this lost feature. The switch from Visual Basic development to Java development should not lead to regression of any feature.

  • Problem - over lie of data series in Line chart (Web Application Designer)

    Dear Experts,
    I have created a chart with below requiments from my user by using web application designer.
    1) Key Figure 1 (Chart type -> column )
    2) Key Figure 2 (Chart type -> column )
    3) Key Figure 3 (Chart type -> Line; color assigned -> BLACK;    Visibility: Visible)
    4) Key Figure 4 (Chart type -> Line; color assigned -> YELLOW; Visibility: Visible/Hidden)
    5) Key Figure 5 (Chart type -> Line; color assigned -> RED;         Visibility: Visible/Hidden)
    The line chart of Key Figure 3 must always appear in Front then others Key Figures.
    Then following by, Key Figure 4. Last is Key Figure 5.
    As I know the order of display line chart is infflucing by the order of Key Figure in structure by descending, likes below
    1) Key Figure 3 (Rank of front -> 3rd; Chart type -> Line; color assigned -> BLACK;    Visibility: Visible)
    2) Key Figure 4 (Rank of front -> 2nd; Chart type -> Line; color assigned -> YELLOW; Visibility: Visible/Hidden)
    3) Key Figure 5 (Rank of front -> 1st; Chart type -> Line; color assigned -> RED;         Visibility: Visible/Hidden)
    So, I have conflict on fulfilling these 2 request on assigning the color and control their visibility and lines over lie.
    Please advice me if you have any suggestion on controlling the lines order.
    Thanks!

    Hi Priya, thanks for input.
    I think I should further elaborate the problems. Thanks for your highlight.
    I have a lines chart with five key figures. So my chart will have five lines.
    Some lines from chart will overlap if the data are same.
    When overlapping of lines happens, I want to control the order of which series should be appear first.
    Likes below example,
    1) Key Figure 1 (Chart type -> column )
    2) Key Figure 2 (Chart type -> column )
    3) Key Figure 3 (Chart type -> Line; color assigned -> BLACK; Visibility: Visible)
    4) Key Figure 4 (Chart type -> Line; color assigned -> YELLOW; Visibility: Visible/Hidden)
    5) Key Figure 5 (Chart type -> Line; color assigned -> RED; Visibility: Visible/Hidden)
               KF1  KF2  KF3  KF4  KF5
    CW 1    30     30    80    80    50
    CW 2    40     50    90    60    90
    CW 3    70     50    90    90    90
    CW 4    80     70    70    90    70
    As you can see, there is overlap in these value.
    CW 1 KF3, KF4  -->80
    CW 2 KF3, KF5 --> 90
    CW 3 KF3, KF4, KF5 --> 90
    The order which i want the series should appear first when overlapping.
    - KF3 must appear on top.
    - Then, follow by KF5
    - Last is KF4.
    So now, i have no idea to control the overlap orders except adjusting the sequence of keyfigure from query.
    Feel free to give me any input!

  • Draw a Horizontal target line on bar chart

    I am trying to reach out to crystal report gurus for the following problem, I am relatively new with crystal reports and would really appreciate if you could provide a solution or point me in the rite direction.
    I am working on a project which requires to show various charts on an .aspx page. (.net 2.0).  I am using CR10.2.36, the one that comes with VS2005.
    My problem is I need to add a target line on a bar chart, e.g.
    I have (Y)years and (X)Examscores, I need to put a line (target line) on the Exam Scores.
        100%   |

                   |
            0%  |__________________________
                    2001          2002           2003
    now this target line should move up or down on click of a button or a .net slider control (which would be somewhere on the page).
    So I guess I need to add the target line to the bar chart programmatically after the chart loads.
    I am able to load the chart correctly but I am not able to think of a way to add the target line and there seems to be not a lot of help out there.
    I appreciate your time and help
