  • Connect Performance - Very Slow

I have just installed Oracle pi 9.0.1) Release 1 on two machines running Windows 2000. The machines are in a local area network of 3 machines through an ADSL firewall router.
When an application I have connects to oracle using <database user>@<database name>/<user password> I get timeouts.
Using sqlplus it takes about 10 seconds to connect although it does connect eventually.
I have a feeling it is a DNS problem but my knowledge of Oracle is rudementary in the more complicated config issues.
Can anyone point me in the right direction ? I've searched the forum but cannot find appropriate help.
    Thanks !!!

My guess would be that you're using either oracle names or host naming and that the name resolution is taking time because these namimg methods are not configured (I assume that you really want to use local naming through tnsnames.ora).
Try using the 'profile' option in net assistant to remove oracle names and host naming (if they both exist) or move them below local in resolution order. See if that helps.

  • Encrypting MGCP calls

    Hi all,
We are planning to encrypt MGCP calls in our CUCM 10.5.
My question is, if we encrypted MGCP calls by using commands like  mgcp package-capability srtp-package.
how service provider will decrypt the calls ?? whether we will provide tokens or any certificates to them. how it really works.
Correct me if I am wrong.

In fact, that command only tells the router to advertise support for SRTP to CUCM. You still have to configure CUCM (e.g. mixed mode, CAPF, security profiles, etc) a call to actually use SRTP.
Speaking of SRTP: it's useless unless you encrypt the MGCP signaling itself using IPsec between the router and the CUCM nodes - a complicated config to say the least - because SRTP uses symmetric keys; if you can sniff the SRTP key then decrypting the call is trivial.
Unless you are in a really specific security situation which requires MGCP (e.g. MLPPP) you would be better off doing SIP with TLS encryption between CUCM and the router. SRTP remains the same but SIP TLS is easier to get done.

  • Make a VLANs talk to the internet

    Hello all,
I need help making a Cisco router and Catalyst 3550 talk. I'm new with VLANs and such, in fact new to Cisco stuff in general. I've learned a bit and I learn quick.
Does anyone have any idea how I can connect my router to the internet, preferably managing multiple public IPs, and then connect those public IPs to the VLANs in the Catalyst 3550. Assume I am starting from a blank config on both router and switch. I have 2 Ethernet interfaces on the router. I'm trying to setup VLANs on the Catalyst, and do the routing on there.
I need the cisco router to handle my 5 public IP addresses. I think I can do that by assigning each public IP to fa0/1 having one as a primary and the other 4 as secondary. Then have fa0/0 connect to the Catalyst and have 5 subnets on there. I want to map each subnet (and subsequently LAN PCs or servers) to a specific public IP.
    192.168.1.0 --> 96.xxx.xxx.170
    192.168.2.0 --> 96.xxx.xxx.171 and so on.
Every time I have tried setting this type of configuration up nothing works properly. I know the equipment I have can do it, I'm just not sure how to achieve it. I know I've been close, yet not close enough obviously. I'm pulling my hair out!I must have been missing something critical in my router or switch config, but i couldn't see what it was. After butchering stuff badly many times I decided to start fresh on both, again. So, starting with blank slate, can anyone give me any ideas? Thanks in advance.

This isn't really a complicated config that you need, it just needs great care in doing it. Things, especially access list need to be done in a given order.
On the router you will need to create route maps for each IP address that you want to use as well as an appropriate NAT translation for the route map. Once this is done you will also need to create access list that permit one subnet and deny others for a given public IP address. Lastly you will need to creat static routes or enable EIGRP/OSPF to build the appropriate routes back to each VLAN.
The switch config is simple create your VLANS and route them to the Cisco router. Personally I set assign a port on the switch that is a L3 port, the command is "no switchport", assign an IP address to the port that is in the same subnet as the router and connect the router to this port. However you can keep the port as a switchport as you wish.
I'll attach a couple of sample configs for you to review. Like I said it isn't really a difficult config it's just tedious.
In the attached sample config the first IP will be assigned to fa0/1, the others will be assigned to the route maps. Notice that in this sample config the VLAN addresses are segmented from 10.244.0.0/22, 10.24.40.0/24 & 10.13.13.0/30.
The permit lines in the access lists are the physical addresses that are permitted for a given IP address.

  • Complicated Free goods scenario for Beverage

    Hi
These are scenario for F&B business - mostly they have complicated promotion on free gifts which I think SAP standard cannot cover it. If any of you has the similar cases, please share how you handle it, thanks.
    1. Buy soda water size 10 oz regardless of soda taste for 1 pack (1 pack consist of 24 bottles) then get 1 bottle free.
    2. Buy soda water size 10 oz regardless of soda taste for 1 pack, then get 1 bottle free - maximum at 2 sets.
    3. Buy soda water either size 10 oz or 15 oz for 1 pack, get 1 bottle of 10 oz free
    4. Buy soda water regardless of soda taste as set i.e. for every 36 packs of combine size 10 oz, 15 oz and 1 lt - get free items of 10 oz/15 oz for 2 bottles per pack and free item of 1lt for 1 bottle per pack
    5. Similar to 4 with additional condition that 1 soda taste must be more than 50%  - for example, it must be coke at least 50%
    6. Sales quota - Buy 1 pack, get 1 bottle free - maximum 100 bottles for each customer
Please kindly share your experience or ideas. Thank you
    Chanchana

    HI Chanchana,
I had a similar problem while configuring Free goods in Ceramic Industry(Sanitaryware division).
For Eg: In the case of wash-basins, basins of different colors are defined as different materials, an the requirement was to
    2 Black & 2 red = 1 tap free
    or
    1 red, 1 white & 1 black = 2 taps free.
We did a lot of R&D considering std SAP free goods scenario, out of which I can conclude the following:
    1) Std SAP allows only 1 + 1(Same material, inclusive) or 1 + 1(different material, exclusive) to be configured as free goods.
In your case if the main material and the free goods are defined as two different materials and there is no 3rd material coming into picture only then free goods config will work.
For Eg: For 10qty Material A, 1 qty of material A free - possible
                For 10qty of material A, 1qty of material B free - possible
For 10qty of Material A, 5 qty of Material B, 1qty of Material C free- not possible in std SAP.
You can convince this to your client, but if they still insist on having the same, you will have to develop a custom 'Z' application which will control the same. However, the same might turn out to be very complex, since pricing, COGS of the free material has to be taken care of along with a lot of other factors. Also the delivery and billing has to go through std SAP, mapping of which will be complex again.
    All the best.

    Amit

  • Netcfg v2.5.2 - note: change in auto wireless config

This release brings a completely new auto wireless/wired configuration. The old net-auto is deprecated and no longer included. There are also some very minor configuration changes that may affect a few people.
    Move to new auto-wireless/wired
The new automatic connection has proper roaming support and will prove more reliable than the old setup - particularly with more complicated wireless configurations. To migrate to the new automatic wireless setup:
    1. pacman -S core/wpa_actiond
    2. Set WIRELESS_INTERFACE="" to your wireless interface in /etc/rc.conf.
    For example WIRELESS_INTERFACE="wlan0"
    3. Add net-auto-wireless to your DAEMONS=() array.
Note: wpa-config profiles do not work with this, convert them to wpa-configsection profiles. An example is included in
    /etc/network.d/examples/
The new auto-wired uses similar configuration - follow the above instructions except use the net-auto-wired daemon, and WIRED_INTERFACE configuration option.
    New features:
    - net-auto-wireless/wpa_actiond - Real wireless roaming/auto connection. Based on same principle as autowifi. Requires optional dependency: wpa_actiond
    - net-auto-wired - automatic ethernet configuration. Requires optional dependency: ifplugd
    - Interface configurations - set options for all profiles using an interface
    - Output hooks
    - Internal cleanup & improvement
    Internal changes:
    - Uses wpa_supplicant for all wireless configuration by default, including wep/none security. This adds improves support for most and should improve reliability.
      - Uses iproute by default for all static configuration. net_tools which contains ifconfig is effectively obsolete and hasnt seen a release for over 8 years. The 'ethernet-iproute' and 'ethernet' connection types have been merged together to simply 'ethernet'. All options are still supported and existing configurations will continue to work for both types. A symlink has been made to ensure that profiles using 'ethernet-iproute' will continue to function.
    Changes in configuration syntax
    - net-auto and AUTO_NETWORKS is now deprecated in favour of net-auto-wireless/net-auto-wired.
    - wireless: If you were previously specifying the wpa_supplicant driver in WPA_OPTS, you now need to specify it in WPA_DRIVER.
    - wireless: iwconfig based configuration for wep/none can be used by changing to wep-old or none-old. This should not be necessary and is left in place only for the possibility of very old drivers that do not
    support wpa_supplicant.
    - ethernet-iproute: As 'ethernet' is now iproute based, those using 'ethernet-iproute' can revert the name. There is a symlink in place, so existing configurations of either name will continue to function
    regardless.
    - wireless-dbus: Unsupported. The wpa_supplicant dbus interface isn't particularly well documented and it doesn't fit well into the netcfg codebase. There is a symlink in place so that configurations using wireless-dbus will continue to function using the 'wireless' connection scripts.

I continued to have difficulty connecting to my default wireless network, but I eventually figured out why.  I seem to recall netcfg used to not care if a POSTUP command failed.  I read somewhere that now it does.
So once I got that taken care of, I experimented with net-auto-wireless.  It fails for me with no error message.
Being a bit of a tinkerer, I looked into the net-auto-wireless script.  I found this line...
    /usr/bin/netcfg-wpa_actiond "${WIRELESS_INTERFACE}" >/dev/null
...Removed the >/dev/null, and ran it again.

  • WCS WLC Config Files

I am finding it difficult to locate the backup config files for my controllers on the WCS server.  Can someone tell me the file extension and the file folder where these files are saved so I can verify they are getting saved?  This seems to be more complicated to find than it needs to be.

When WCS was installed it asked you for a folder name where to store these files. Go to Admin--Settings--Server Settings and you will see the drive and folder name. Look in these .. Should be under TFTP folder

  • Key Config VI or XML File?

    Hello:
I want to save some configuration values that I want to load when the program executes again after close it. My program have a lot of clusters.
Which is better: use a Key Config VI or XML File? I test both and...
If I use the "Key Config VI", I can use the same file to save all the values of the different cluster but the program is bigger and more complicated because it doesn't accept clusters directly and I must save values one by one.
If I use the "XML File", I must create a lot of files (one for each cluster) but it's easier to save values because it accepts clusters.
Therefore, which is better or which do you choose? Any other suggestions?

Why do you need to go about linking to services-config.xml in
your flex compiler when you want to do remoting. It just seems like
a complicated way to do things.

Yeah I find this perplexing as well. I'm guessing it has something to do with Opalis origins perhaps.

  • Config.sh doesn't see my template jar

Running WL Server 8.1.4 on Solaris 8.
I used config.sh to set up a fairly complicated (custom) domain, which seems to run fine. Then, I ran the template builder against that domain and successfully created a template jar. To try out the template, I moved the domain directory aside and re-ran config.sh, in an attempt to restore the original domain from my template. When the Wizard got to the panel to select a configuration template, I browsed to the directory where my template jar was placed by the builder, but config.sh didn't find/display it. I even tried copying my template jar into the directory where the four standard BEA template jars are located, and re-ran config.sh, but only the four BEA templates were displayed.
I did a jar -tvf on my template jar, and it seems to contain the same sorts of items that the smaller BEA templates have.
What would cause config.sh to reject or ignore a template jar?
    GD

    Hi!
The domain template is a jar file that contains several XML files. Check that it has template information file called template-info.xml with content like the one below:
    <domain-template-info>
    <identification
    version="8.1.2.0"
    type="Domain Template"
    name="MySuperDomain"
    author="John Doe"
description="Create a basic WebLogic Workshop domain, without installing sample applications. Domains created from this template will support the WebLogic Server and WebLogic Workshop runtime functionality, including support for J2EE applications, Web applications, Web Services and custom controls. Use domains created from this template for development of WebLogic Workshop applications."
    iconName="workshop.gif"/>
    <category>JDoe</category>
    </domain-template-info>
If the file is not there it is not likely that the template will be accepted. (It should be in the root of your JAR file.)
    Good luck,

  • Variant Config with Plng w/o Final Assembly case

    Friends,
I have requirements to map Variant Config scenario for products that are Forecasted for the purposes of driving the dependent materials production/procurement.
The Finished configured part is forecasted for standard configuration, however, it is only assembled at the receipt of a Sales Order. The sub-assemblies/components are manufactured/procured in advance driven by the dependent demand frm parents PIR's. I can use Strgy 50 & make the matl configurable, but the system asks me to create Config Plng Profile to be able to create PIR's for it.
Want to know if there is a simpler way/strategy group with which I can manage the same? The configuration process itself is pretty straight forward, its the forecasting part that is creating the prblm to me.
    Any ideas.

    Guys,
I found the way out for this. It all depends on how can the business:
    1. Forecast accurately on the diff configurations possible (Plng Profile & Table)
    2. Can they produce good consumption history on the lower lvl assemblies/components
The following can be done based on the buss reqts:
Finished prod's planned with Strgy 25, assemblies with 70 or Use Strgy 56, 89 for char based plng. The latter are v complicated unless the data is available on usage probabilities of config paramters..

  • WRT54G2 Restore Config error

I just purchased WRTG4G2 (firmware version: 1.0.03) last Sunday. As the router got some connection problems and I suspected that there maybe some configuration error. I backup router setting and tried to reset the router by the option 'Restore Factory Defaults'. The problem occurs when I try to restore the previous config file back into the router (Error message displayed: Upgrade are failed!). I retry the progress by re-creating an empty, but the problem still presists. And sometimes it prompt for password input, but no matter which password I entered, it shows incorrect and not even to cancel the prompt by pressing 'cancel'. I am wondering if it was the firmware error, as this problem doesn't appears on my old WRT54G v5. Any help will be thanks.

Folks, this is not complicated.  The OP said he could not restore a config file, and always got an error.  Same here.  I've been saving config files for years as I changed things on the router, and today, when I really needed to restore one to get my DNS server list back into the router, it would not load.  In fact, NONE of them would load, including the one I made right after I logged in and went to the save page!
So, can we stop talking about whether the user is making the backup files properly and talk about why the freaking router won't accept its own backup files, please?
And yes, I'm using a wired connection.  My router has worked perfectly for years, and just tossed the DNS server list last night or this morning sometime, and I didn't make any changes to it other than to use my phone to look up some DNS numbers and plug them in to get the router back to doing its job...

  • Config settings for continuous Inv.

    Dear all ,
I want the settings for Continuous Inventory Buisness Process, So what are the prerequisite & postrequisite
setting to achieve this buisness processs.
    Please help me out.
    Regards,
    Rock

If you meant cycle counting, here is text from config.
    Tcode: OMCO
This is for Inventory managed at Sloc level. If you are using WM, it's more complicated.
    Cycle Counting
In this step, you complete the system settings for the physical inventory method of cycle counting by defining the individual cycle counting indicators for the given plant.
The cycle counting indicators are used to group the materials together into individual categories.
    Recommendation
Normally, the cycle counting indicators are assigned when an ABC analysis is run. However, different indicators can be defined, if necessary.
    Activities
    1. Define the allowed cycle counting indicators in the plant.
    2. Make the required settings for each indicator.
Remember that the total of the percentages must be 100 if you want to assign the indicator to the individual materials as part of an ABC analysis.

  • Difference between config toll and visual admin

    HI all,
Please let me know all Difference between config toll and visual admin.
and Purpose and how to start.
    Thanks & Regards,
    satish k

    Hi Satish,
SAP J2EE Engine 6.20 provides three basic tools for administration u2013
    Visual Administrator,
    Console Administrator, and
Config Tool (both Visual and Console).
There are some other tools namely DBTool, Library Tool, RMIC Tool, Shutdown Tool, and User Tool also used.
    First part
Difference between config toll and visual admin:-Visual Administrator is a graphical user interface (GUI) that enables administration of the whole cluster, of the cluster nodes, and all modules running on them.On the other hand with the help of Config Tool you are able to add and configure SAP J2EE Engine 6.20 cluster elements.Again Config Tool can be used without a running SAP J2EE Engine 6.20. The only requirement is to have the server installed on the local machine.
Visual Administrator is written in the Java programming language and can be run in any environment where a Java Virtual Machine is available. On the other hand Config Tool is XML-based, which enables third-party visualizations to be developed or integrated as part of a more complicated configuration system.
Visual Administrator enables remote monitoring and management of the cluster, and for each cluster element, and enables the system administrator to monitor all managers and services working on each node in a single GUI & its online.cofig tool on the otherhand offline.
    Second part Purpose
"Visual Administrator":-with the help of this tool you can able to login & logout from the server. It gives you all the details regarding different services running in your SAP server. As already mentioned that with the help of VA we enables administration of the whole cluster, of the cluster nodes, and all modules running on them.
"Config Tool":-Config Tool enables you to run the server in remote debug mode.
Again Config Tool enables you to add dispatcher and server nodes to the SAP J2EE Engine 6.20 Cluster. With the help of config tool we are enable to modification of service or manager module properties.
    Third part Start procedure
"Visual Administrator" check the below link

  • Is it a reasonable idea to modify config.xml directly?

I'm curious about something. We have several steps the our users have to
perform to install our enterprise app on WebLogic. If I wrote a program
that would modify config.xml to add our data sources, connection pools,
custom realm, caching realm, etc., is there anything to watch out for? Will
we risk breaking other enterprise apps on the same server?
In general, what do other folks do about deployment to WebLogic? Is there a
secret trick to making it less complicated?

    Hi Eric
There are 3 approaches to do this:
    (1) Using Admin Console of WebLogic Server. This is the safest way to do
this. However, this has to be done manually.
    (2) Using JMX API to do it. This is also safe but you need to familiarize
    with JMX API.
    (3) Edit the config.xml directly. This is the riskiest option among the
    available 3 options.
    Hope this helps.
