    Thank you, Ben. This was the information that I needed.
    Alas, I don't follow this forum specifically, although, I do lurk now and then to get answers to specific questions.
    Re the shake issue. Gosh, I guess I fixed it and never came back (my apologies) or the whole thing went a different direction. It's been so long.
    Thanks, again.

    Ben, I think the Gary is referencing a DW interface problem, not a display issue on a web page.
    It looks like the actual Properties window is corrupt.

  • Alternatives to dreamweaver built in spry validation?

    I like the spry validation features... but I don't like the K
    that comes with it. Good grief, the js include files are
    ridiculous.
    Any lighter weight alternatives that still provide validation
    reminders at each text field, area, etc.?

    LOL. I'd really rather not consider that scenario. 8)

  • How can I get the script Export Layers to Files to export compressed pngs?

    I would love to be able to take advantage of Photoshop's compressed png when using the script Export Layers to Files. I there a way I could modify the script to do this?
    TIA!!!
    ========================
    I found it ... I needed to add a line to the pngSaveOptions (around line #886) ...
                var saveFile = new File(exportInfo.destination + "/" + fileNameBody + ".png");
                pngSaveOptions = new PNGSaveOptions();
                pngSaveOptions.interlaced = false;
                // trying to compress png files
                pngSaveOptions.compression = 9;
                docRef.saveAs(saveFile, pngSaveOptions, true, Extension.LOWERCASE);
                break;

    It does. The standalone XML Export was only offered by itself

  • Accordion Spry not collapsing in IE but it is in other browsers even Chrome

    This is my first Accordion Spry that I am creating and I
    cannot figure out why it is not
    fully collapsing in IE but it is working flawlessly in all
    the other browsers.

  • Spry compare the file size

    So for the example :
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/demos/gallery/
    I have to say that those Spry .js includes are huge in file
    size for what they do :
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/includes/xpath.js
    64.9 KB
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/includes/SpryData.js
    90.4KB
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/includes/SpryEffects.js
    52.5
    So just including the .js and not including the overhead of
    the xml and images the application file size is at 207.8 KB now
    that is fat for what is a very simple photo gallery. Something like
    this built in Flash would probaly be a quater or less than this in
    file size and would look a hell of a lot better. I cant really
    understand the rationalle to doing it like this when a flash client
    is more reliable and in the odd case of not having Flash the
    install is not equal to the overhead of all these .js files. What
    you guys think ?

    The benifits of Spry, as mentioned by Andrew, became obvious
    to me on a recent project. I am co-developing a site and my partner
    has no Flash skills. We wanted to expose enough of the code and/or
    file structure of the site so that he could do updates without
    flash and eventually teach the client to do their own updates.
    We're using the gallery widget where the client needs to have the
    pics changed quite often. So, all we have to do is change the pics
    and update the xml files. I have used xml files with Flash, but my
    partner feels less intimidated with the 2 step process. Plus, the
    code used on the html pages is exposed enough for us to easily
    change many other settings.
    Also, I'm encouraged by the news that the Spry js will be in
    a compressed/ condensed version soon.
    I do love Flash, but Spry came along kind of like the Perfect
    Storm for use in my project.
    I fell it will be another tool in my box to use when
    appropriate.

  • HTML 5 and Spry.. Making custom attributes valid

    The HTML 5 spec is still a "Editors Draft" but doesn't mean browser haven't started intergating it. While i was reading through the specification i noticed that HTML allows you to specify custom attributes on elements (see: http://dev.w3.org/html5/spec/Overview.html#embedding-custom-non-visible-data ). We all know Spry also uses custom attributes for the Spry dataset. These are typically prefixed with spry:action_here=""
    At this point its not valid HTML even though, when serving your page as xhtml it should be valid.. as xml allows you to specify custom attributes as well. But that aside, with the release of HTML5 getting closer and closer we could make Spry attibutes valid if we started prefixing all custom attributes with data-
    For example:
    spry:region="ds1"     =>     data-spry:region="ds1"
    spry:if="0 == false"  =>     data-spry:if="0 == false"
    A switch to the data- prefix would require very little editing of the existing spry files. The only thing users would have to do, is switch to the HTML5 doc type declaring to make it valid. As this doc type has backwards compatiblity and do not force IE6 in quirksmode i feel this is better alternative to externalizing the custom attributes or waiting for browser to support extended doctypes.
    So i wonder what you opinions are on this . Is Spry ready for HTML5 and is HTML5 ready for Spry ?

    Am I excited about the upcoming HTML5? YES!  But not because it validates our Spry attributes.
    Spry, if used properly, already works well and the fact that it is not validated by W3C can be regarded as a curious fact. Sort of like a driver of mine that has not been validated by Microsoft; without the driver my hardware does not work. So what do I do?
    Well for some people its not a problem that the pages do not validate. But there companies and clients who value validation. Its understandable because people are overhyping it. In this case, it would allow to validate out of the box, without any changes to your code. Making it easier for starting developers and create a W3C valid document.
    I am excited about the new HTML5 elements that will be introduced, hopefully making life easier.
    Well doesn't really make a life easier. I'm currently creating my online resume in HTML and its harder... Normally you would just use divs for almost every layout wrapper now you got to choose between aside, section, article, details, hgroup, header etc. So much elements to choose from, but using them wisely is the hard part.
    I am not excited about the fact that HTML5, being backward compatible, will come with the deficiencies of its predecesors
    I am confused about the near simultaneous release of XHTML2. Where is the logic? Cannot the regulators and validators agree on a standard? I guess not. Even the browser-producers cannot agree on a standard. Remember the confusion with audio and video tapes?
    All of this confusion only adds weight to my argument, who cares about W3C validation or Microsoft validation? if it works it works!
    Some people like it strict some people don't, for performance reasons i actually choose for the loose version. It allows me to build a more compressed file .
    Video codec wars are fun to.. Ogg  vs MPEG. Using flash as fallback or silver light for unsupported browsers, or just generate multiple formats.. Hard to choose.. I personally hope h.264 codec will be used because its quality wise its much better. But we will see what the browser vendors will decide.

  • Split Spry.Data and Spry.Data.Region from SpryData.js?

    I don't like Spry.Data.Region or anything like Spry.*.Region because it make hard to customize using javascript.
    But Spry.Data with Observer / Notify feature is great one. In fact, using SpryData.js, I can write my own "render html object" easier.
    SrpyData.js is big (127KB) even when compressed, it is still 65KB. That why, needed split Spry.Data and Spry.Data.Region from SpryData.js so who want to use Spry.Data only like me will get smaller trafic.
    I've tried remove all Spry.Data.Region content in SpryData.js. Surprise, some in Spry.Data call to Spry.Data.Region >>> Design have problem.
    Anyone can help splitting them?

    Found this in the archives:
    <div spry:if="{ds_RowCount} == 0" class="trigger" style="display:none"></div>
    Basically a hack to point the tooltip to a hidden div so no errors are thrown.

  • Spry UI 1.7 "Featured Content" Slideshow: Non-functioning buttons IE9

    Hey guys!
    So I'm about finished with a website that I've been working on for some time now. One of the last things I did was customize a Spry Content Slideshow widget to be implemented into the homepage. It went well; things are pretty much exactly how I want them...tested the site (locally) this morning, and it worked great in Chrome, pretty good in Firefox...and for the most part, worked fine within IE9. Until I went to test links. In the first two browsers, the links worked fine, but IE9 has, for some reason, shifted the actual, clickable part of the button just to the right of the button. Here's a brief snippet of the code that covers the two buttons on slide #1:
                          <a href="nate.html">
                          <button type="button"><span><span><span>Nate</span></span></span></button>
                          </a>
                          <a href="kate.html">
                          <button type="button"><span><span><span>Kate</span></span></span></button>
                          </a> </div>
    Again, the buttons themselves don't actually work, but there's a thin strip, probably 1-2 pixels wide, and as tall as the button, directly to the right that are active within IE9. It's as if the link got compressed into that 1x30 pixel space somehow...I can't figure it out!
    Any ideas on how to make IE recognize the actual buttons as the link, instead of that random little sliver next to them?  Thanks in advance for any help, and let me know if you need more details!
    -Casey

    Add an onclick event as follows
    <a href="nate.html" onclick="window.location=this.href;return false;"><button type="button"><span><span><span>Nate</span></span></span></button></a>    <a href="kate.html" onclick="window.location=this.href;return false;"><button type="button"><span><span><span>Kate</span></span></span></button></a>

  • Table appears for a second before spry Master/Detail loads

    Hi!
    I'm using the Spry Master/Detail function on a page to display an interactive version of the table on the same page. On browser load, the table is briefly displayed before it is replaced by the Spry interactive table. Is there any way to avoid this? It looks kinda hokey.
    ps I know I could avoid it by putting the table on another page, but then it wouldn't be searchable.
    Thanks in advance.
    Mignonne

    Sorry for butting in, Hi Beth,
    Considering the number of images that have to be loaded before the data can be displayed, the page is quite fast.
    There are a couple of things that can be done to make it load faster and to give it a feel that is is loading faster.
    To make it run faster consider
    compressing components with GZip, see here http://developer.yahoo.com/performance/rules.html#gzip
    placing expiry headers on images, css and js see here http://developer.yahoo.com/performance/rules.html#expires
    place the reference to js files further down, see here http://developer.yahoo.com/performance/rules.html#js_bottom
    use a Content Delivery Network, see here http://developer.yahoo.com/performance/rules.html#cdn
    To make it feel as though it runs faster, hide the contents until the data has been processed and issue a message or loading bar to that extent.
    1. add the following style rule to make use of the SpryHiddenRegion feature
    .SpryHiddenRegion {visibility:hidden;}
    2. change the first part of the Master/Detail region to
      <div class="MasterDetail">
        <div spry:region="dsepimediums">
         <div spry:state="loading" align="center"><h2>Loading data, please wait ...</h2></div>
          <div spry:state="ready">
            <div class="MasterContainer">
              <div class="MasterColumn" spry:repeat="dsepimediums" spry:setrow="dsepimediums" spry:hover="MasterColumnHover" spry:select="MasterColumnSelected"><span spry:content="{Plant_Name}"></span></div>
            </div>
          </div>
        </div>
        <div spry:detailregion="dsepimediums" class="DetailContainer SpryHiddenRegion">
          <div class="DetailColumn"><h2>{Plant_Name}</h2></div>
    Here we are making use of the various states that Spry goes through see here http://livedocs.adobe.com/en_US/Spry/1.4/help.html?content=WSFC2EB69F-9F15-4005-A993-B7667 BA7EB75.html
    We are also doing our best to hide our data until fully available see here http://livedocs.adobe.com/en_US/Spry/1.4/help.html?content=WSFC2EB69F-9F15-4005-A993-B7667 BA7EB75.html
    I hope this helps.

  • "get all new data request by request" after compressing source Cube

    Hi
    I need to transfer data from one Infocube to another and use the Delta request by request.
    I have tried this when data on Source Infocube was not compressed and it worked.
    Afterwards some requests were compressed and after that the delta request by request is transfering all the information to target Infocube in only one request.
    Do you know if this a normal behavior?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
    The objective of compression is it will delete all the request in your F table and moves data to E table.after compression you don't have request by request by data.
    This is the reason you are getting all the data in single request.
    Get data request by request works, if you don't compress the data in your Cube.
    If you want to know about compression, check the below one

  • Spry Collapsible panel - open and closed default question...

    I am using a Spry Collapsible panel in a vertical nav menu (DW CS4) and it's in a template for my site. • Spry menu bar woes (add submenu levels and edit width)

    So i need some spry menu bar help. Apparently as a graphic designer i'm also expected to webdesign, and while i can solve most problems with a good googling, i seem to be at  my wit's end fo this one.  So the site i'm doing has a header ith a horizontal spry pop-up menubar (in Dreamweaver CS4). But some problems arise:  when i manually add another submenu level, they don't show up in chrome or FF, they do werk perfectly in IE6. I just add the following code to the codepage:
    <li><a href="#" class="MenuBarItemSubmenu">audio equipment</a>             <ul>               <li><a href="#">Digital Matrix Systems</a></li>               <ul>               <li><a href="#">R2 Digital Audio Matrix</a></li>               </ul>               <li><a href="#">pre-amplifiers &amp; mixers</a></li>               <ul>               <li><a href="#">PMX124</a></li>               </ul>
    the PMX never pops open in FF an chrome.. Should i be adding anything else to another part of the code?  i'd like my submenu text to have a slight indent? How ever, when i add the indent to ul.menubarhorizontal ul , it elongates the submeny boxes in IE6, while looking normal (width) in chrome and FF. WHat part of the CSS style should i change to just have the text scoot over a bit without it really affecting the box layout? ALso, if anyone could tell me how to add a wee bit of spacing above the text (and beneath), i'd be eternally gratefull.  Also, how do i change the with of the submenus? seing as my main buttons are images, but the names i ned to put in my submenus are turning out to be pretty long...

  • PDF File Size - any way to compress further?

    We have are using the Crystal for .NET export method to export a report to a .pdf file, and are having an issue with the pdf file size on a report that contains images.  The images are stored in a SQL2005 database as blob or varbinary(max).  The report executes a stored procedure that selects data (including images) to produce a quotation.  There are input parms to decide which images to print (for example A, B or both A&B). Both types of images can appear at the line level on the quotation. Type A images print in the main report, Type B images are in a subreport.  Both the main report & subreport execute a stored procedure to select an image type.
    Our issue, when both Type A and B image is selected to print on a 293 line quote.  The PDF file size is 44.23MB
    When Type A only is selected, the PDF file size is 2.64MB
    When Type B only is selected, the PFD file size is 43.95MB.
    There are more Type B images that would print at the line level than Type A, but is there any way to compress this down further as it is too large to email.

    You mention that you are using Crystal for .NET, but not what version; CR for .NET 2003, 2005, 2008. 2010?
    Applying the latest fixes for the correct version of CR would be the first thing to do.
    Next, I'd have a close look at image B as it appears to be the one adding the most "bulk". How is this image different from image A?
    General tips re. images:
    Save the files a BMPs.
    When .jpg image is inserted into Crystal Reports it is converted into bitmap format and as the result of the conversion the report may loose some quality, scale and other issues may arise... E.g.; Crystal Reports is not so good a graphics management tool
    When an image is saved as a .bmp, then there is no conversion required and thus the quality of the image should be preserved.
    Best practice: save the image with high resolution and required size as a .bmp format then insert this image into Crystal Reports.
    Resize the image to the smallest possible size and downgrade the DPI to 72. This will ensure your image is as small as possible and Crystal Reports will have to put in the least amount of work to display it.
    Have a look ar KB [1241630 - Exporting a Crystal report (XI) to PDF generates a big PDF file|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_bi/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes%7B6163636573733d36393736354636443646363436353344333933393338323636393736354637333631373036453646373436353733354636453735364436323635373233443330333033303331333233343331333633333330%7D.do]. This KB, may apply to your version of CR, or not. In any case, you will have to use the KB as a guide and determine what the appropriate registry entry would be for your version of CR.
    One more thing. Many people like to use jpg files as they are smaller than bmp files. However, as far as Crystal Reports is concerned, this is inconsequential. The report file will be the same size if a file is inserted as a jpg or a bmp. This is due to the jpg conversion to bmp Crystal Reports does internally.
