Compressor taking forever need fix

Im trying to compres a session from final cut pro! about a week ago compressor was working fine and now ive tryed several times and waited for hours and it seams that it doesnt move much! idk if doing something wrong

As a test, to se if your FCPX storylines project is in error or compressor settings may be of a negative affect, try the following.
step 1) just render all the storylines project in FCPX making sure that all and everything has rendered in FCPX , then export "share master" to make a self contained qt movie using the same codec you have in the FCPX project. This will be basically copy operation from FCPX and should involv minimal to no rendering time addition.
Step 2) on completion of step 1. open up compressor and stop Qmaster if its running. (You can restart it later). In step 6 u will submit this master using the same host resources that FCPX would have used on you FCPX host....
Step 3) add the master object from step 1 into compressor GUI
Step 4$ check the inspector in compressor for that batch job that "frame controls are OFF" and set multipass to off
Step 5) submit the job to "this computer" and see if transcode runs to completion.
This will ascertain if it doesn't run that the qt components used by compressor.app et al ad having or not having trouble with the master clip.
Yes it will take longer than using a cluster but this is only a test.
If this works ok, the using the same setting, try with your cluster. (Submit to cluster)
Post your results for others to see.

  • Compressor taking forever to output 1 min clip

Compressor is taking 45 min to output a 1 min clip and I don't know why. I'm outputting a H.264 file (Quicktime 7 compatible). The actual clip is just a bunch of still images with some scale and center point motion keyframeing.
    What's the deal?

I can't check my sequence settings right now because it's still in compressor but they are default settings.
The pictures are just jpgs of different pixel dimensions, some are 773 x 758, some higher etc but nothing insanely big.
Is it normal that it should take this long?

  • Compressor taking forever

Is it normal for Compressor to take so long to create an mp4 file?
I have my first FCP X movie (been using iMovie for a few years) that's about 1.5 hours long.  Now that I'm exporting, I'm looking at about 16 hours before it's done.
    A bit more info...
    MacBook Pro 10.7.4 13"
2.66 CHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    NVIDIA GeForce 320 M 256 MB
    FCP X 10.0.5
    Compressor 4.0.4
    1)  From FCP X, I clicked Share > Send to Compressor...
    2)  In Compressor, I selected "Broadband High" and just used all the default settings because I'm not yet saavy enough to play with them much.

Compressor is not fast, And "Send to Compressor" is a slow workflow. It actually takes less time if you export media current settings and bring that into Compressor's source well. Try that. But an h.264 encode is always slow and I would expect several hours regardless. (One piece of good news…the indicated times remaining are most often too high.)
A computer with 4 or more cores and a lot of RAM could help as well – offering the potential for creating and utilizing virtual clusters.
    Good luck.

  • Shipping is Taking Forever- Need it for school

I recently ordered a Y580. Since my order, I have had my estimated shipping date changed twice. I have called two different days, both told me that it was suppose to ship out today and still have not got anything. Time is running out until school starts, it was suppose to ship out a week ago and by look of the Estimated Date - Arrival Date, it takes approximately 10 days. I start school in 5 days. Even if it shipped today, I still would not be getting it. Everytime I call, I get no real answer with any information. Can I please receive some help?

  • Compressor taking excessive time...please help

I'm having terrible trouble with compressor taking forever. i'm editing a wedding video that i shot in HD widescreen. I've edit in FC rendered the movie and then exported as self contained Quick time movie. using current settings (HD)
i then open the movie in compressor my target setting are DVD Best quality 90min
i havent edited any other setting because i've use the best quality settings before without much complication (the other movies 40 min took 14 hours to compress) I had resigned myself to the long compression time but the times i'm getting at the moment are getting out of hand.
for 50 min movie i'm currently getting 26 hours and climbing! the time goes up and down at one point it quoted 230 hours and most regular time is 56. this is actually starting to depress me I traweled through the net and forums with no resulotion.
I've bosted my core as suggested here

I found this article from Larry Jordan, about half way down, there is talk of using single pass for shorter projects of 60 min or less.
    http://www.larryjordan.biz/articles/ljbitrate.html
Your time does seem to be taking quite a while. I used to do a 90 minute movie, with a 2 pass setting, and the Better setting, and it would take about 36 hours sometimes.
I think part of it is the G5 processor you have. Now that I have an Intel Mac Pro with the dual quad cores, the Compression time takes juts a few hours, 3, maybe 4 at the most.
All I can say, is maybe try a single pass with the better setting and see what the time looks like. It might be acceptable. OR try a 2 pass with the better setting. From all I have read, the BEST setting takes an extraordinary long time, and it's not a huge amount better than BETTER. I use it simply because the machine is fast enough to make use of it.

  • For the first time i want to sync music from the itunes on my desktop to my iPod touch 5th gen. it kept taking forever to back up! is backing up needed? all i wanna do is sync the music

for the first time i want to sync music from the itunes on my desktop to my iPod touch 5th gen. it kept taking forever to back up! is backing up needed? all i wanna do is sync the music and the back up is taking way too long....
i have not yet until now tried to sync music to this ipod touch it always syncs music on to my ipod classic..please please help me! im dying to have music on this ipod touch...

It depends how much you have to backup..
You could also have a problem.
    Is any progress showing?
How long as it been backing up?
Any other text in the status bar in addition to saying backing up?

  • I am running my first time machine backup onto a Western Digital MyBook Live.  It is taking forever.  Is there antivirus software running in the background or any other settings I need to change to speed it up?  Also I am on a wireless network.

I am running my first time machine backup onto a Western Digital MyBook Live.  It is taking forever.  Is there antivirus software running in the background or any other settings I need to change to speed it up?  Also I am on a wireless network.

The initial Time Machine backup can certainly take a long time over wireless. Days, possibly. It's impossible for anyone here to be able to predict how long it will take, and wireless environmental conditions can change at any time.
Is there antivirus software running in the background
Only you can determine that. If you're using third party AV software, anything is possible.
NAS devices may not be compatible with Time Machine, regardless of what their manufacturers may claim. Even after the Time Machine backup completes, your backup may be unreliable. You may not discover that until you need to rely upon the backup for some reason, and corruption can occur months or years from now.
Time Machine supports the following backup configurations:
    A locally mounted volume
    Time Capsule
A volume resident on a USB hard disk connected directly to a Time Capsule or current production AirPort Extreme Base Station.
That's it. Any configuration other than the above list places you in an experimental category. If your backup fails, you're on your own.

  • Unlike Internet Explorer, Firefox taking forever to load attachments! Why? Fix?

A few months ago, Firefox started taking FOREVER to load attachments to email. I have uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it, but that didn't help. I've done all other trouble shooting steps....rebooted computer.....cleared cache, cookies, and history.......run anti-virus checks......defragged.....etc.
If I use Internet Explorer for outgoing emails with attachments there are no challenges.
I love Firefox and want to use it.....help, please!

You are running Windows 7, correct?
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.

  • I'm trying to download maps of the ranch but its taking forever for it to complete. says its enhancing map detail. how long is this going to take????? I need these maps up for work.

I require google maps of the porperty we manage to do my job I purchased the ifarmer app to help organize and keep better track of details in equipment logs and cattle records. I'm trying to download maps of the property and its taking forever. it says it is "enhancing map detail" but its taken so long the ipod falls asleep and I don't know if that makes it take longer. I also can't do anything else on the ipod until it is done downloading. Is the amount of time its taking to download this map normal????

    Great
Ok so this is what you need to do:
You need to put it in DFU mode:
How to enter iPhone DFU mode
Connect the iPhone to your computer and launch iTunes
Turn the iPhone off (hold down the power button at the top of the iPhone)
Hold down the sleep/power button and home button together for exactly 10 seconds, then release the power button
Continue to hold down the Home button until a message appears in iTunes telling you an iPhone in recover mode has been detected
When you are in DFU mode your iPhone Screen will be completely black
Even though the screen is black, that doesn’t mean the device can’t be interfaced with either iTunes or a custom firmware client (for jailbreaking, etc).
Remember that if you see the restore logo, itunes logo or any message on the iPhone screen, you are not in DFU mode but standard Recovery Mode. Again, DFU mode is signified by having a completely black screen on the device. If anything else is the case, repeat the steps above until you enter into DFU mode successfully.
Now you can restore - once restore is completed the Exit DFU mode
    Exit DFU mode on iPhone
The simplest way to exit out of DFU mode is to hold down the Home and sleep/power buttons on the iPhone while connected to iTunes. Then just hit the power button as and this should reboot the device as usual.

  • I was having problems with my iPhone 5s. Was able to get another 5s. In the process of setting it up, but it is taking forever ... and it seems to be frozen at one particular place.

I was having problems with my iPhone 5s (couldn't receive iMessages or emails). Cell company tried "fixing it" but to no avail. They ordered me a repacement 5s. Trying to set up, but it is taking forever. Seems to be stuck in one particular spot. It's at the stage with a black screen, white apple icon and a bar underneath. The bar is is just a fraction complete, and it has been stuck in this spot for almost an hour. Tried to restart it but it went to the same spot and froze again.

    BOB we need you urgently
Perhaps Bob will see this thread, he is the professor in these cases.
You do not use a WEP password but wpa/wpa2 on router and equipment.
All equipment connects to WiFi, but for your iPad.
Even with all other equipment WiFi off, you cannot connect your iPad.
Your iPad connects to other WiFi nets correctly.
All resets etc done on iPad and Router.
Still I am not sure it is your router for sure, frustrating...
I want to test 2 other things:
    1. in your iPad, set everything OFF in Settings/Cellular, turn off/then/on your WiFi, and see whether it will still not connect...
    2. If that does not do it: disconnect the router as well as the modem from the power, for 15 seconds, then reconnect the modem, let it fully start, then reconnect the routet let it fully start, turn of your WiFi in iPad, then on, and see whether it will connect.

  • Why is it taking forever for my MacBook pro to start up?

It is taking forever for my MacBook pro to start up. It's been on the screen with the grey apple and the spinning icon for about 20 minutes now. I tried holding down the shift button when powering up to reboot in safe mood but that is taking forever as well. Any suggestions?

Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    Do the following:
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/.
Reinstalling Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

  • My I photo is taking forever to load. When it does load everything runs super slow. Help!

My I Photo is taking forever to load my pictures. When they finally load, everything I do  in I photo is super slow. Help!

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
    what fixes have you tried?
    where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

  • After installing SP3 for BO XI R1 - Crystal Reports taking forever to run.

    Hello,
We are running BO XI R1 SP3.  Ever since installing SP3 a number of our scheduled Crystal Reports are taking forever to run.  The Business Objects server resources are okay, CPU never really gets above 50% so I figure perhaps it's our SQL Server.
We run SQL 2005 and CPU on that hovers around 30%, we've got 4 2.6GHz CPUs with 16GB of RAM.  Looking in SQL Server activity monitor the reason the reports are taking some time is that the wait types are generally CXPACKET.
For example a report used to process in a minute however after installing SP3 the report now takes several hours.  Since we've 4 CPU's on our SQL Server activity monitor creates four sessions for the report to try and process it in parallel.  However all of those four sessions have a wait type of CXPACKET.  This I understand is related to parallelism and people have said to reduce that so nothing runs in parallel.
However I should not have to do that as things used to run just fine, there is no physical reason (i.e. RAM / CPU / HDD) that reports are locked waiting in SQL server.  Has anyone else had this issue or have any suggestions on how to fix please?
    Kind regards,
    Chris Rutherford

XIR2 has two different redistributable MSI packages.  One is compatable with 1.1 framwork applications and the other is compatable with 2.0 framework applications.
try downloading the SP3 MSIs from [here|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009656792008E/crxir2sp3_net_si.zip]
    this will have both MSIs
    - CrystalReports11_5_NET.msi          (for 1.1fwk applications)
    - CrystalReports11_5_net_2005.msi   (for 2.0fwk applications)
rename the CrystalReports11_5_net_2005.msi to CrystalRedist115_x86.msi and replace the existing file in the Bootstrapper folder path
Uninstall the last install, rebuild and try your Click-Once install again.  This time you should have the 11.5.3700.0 runtime.

  • Okay so I just got a new MacBook and I'm setting it up. I decided to not download all of my files to iCloud drive and its taking forever to load to the next page. Is this normal for it to take so long? After all I didn't even download my stuff?

why is it taking forever to load!?

The files you are loading into the new computer are by wi-fi? If you have no other option
that may be OK but slow. A faster method would be Ethernet cable from internet router
or modem, instead of wireless. Most of the setup process can take some time.
What are these files? Where are they now?
Do you have a backup on-site, & not online?
Did you check to see if the operating system was updated as part of the setup before use?
The Software Update can locate later parts to the as-shipped system, that may be needed.
Other upgrades or new apps are through the Mac App Store, some through App Store, etc.
As part of the setup, you could use a migration assistant if you have a backup from the old
computer or have other files saved in an external hard drive to import.
Hopefully your process won't be drawn out too long...
    Good luck & happy computing!
