Computer is overheating - causes programs to keep freezing up.
My computer over heats, is there anyway to fix this because its causing my finder to freeze as well as certain programs that I use. I did a disk repair and it seems ok, but when I use my computer now, sometimes the temp rises to 197-200 degrees. I monitor it with SMC fan control but have no idea how to run the computer cooler.
Note. I do not have air conditioning in my house where I use my laptop.

If it's still under warranty I would get it seen by an Apple Authorised Repair Specialist or make a Genius Bar appointment. If it's overheating regularly and with little usage there's clearly a hardware problem somewhere. Possibly a failed or failing sensor? It may even be the main board?
If you restart your laptop and hold down the 'D' key this should access the hardware diagnostic test. Run the extended tests. You may see an error message an error message at the end of the test which may give a clue as to what is going on?
Be patient with the hardware diagnostic test as it does take a short while for it to kick in. This assumes the hard drive has never been wiped.

Saving or prewing calendars in iPhoto 9.1 causes program or system freeze
I really enjoyed the last iPhoto update which creates the possibility to make and order calendars among others. But it was a short time joy 'cause trying to preview the calendar (or to save as pdf) caused every time the program or even system freeze or crash.
Any solution or should we wait for another update to fix this problem?at least you can get to that stage, I only get to creating one and it freezes or crashes.

Photoshop Elements 8 keeps freezing up in Windows 7.
I reloaded PH 8 on a new computer with windows 7 and it keeps freezing up after initially being ok (program stops responding). It worked fine on my old computer which had Windows Vista.

Please try couple of probable solutions as mentioned below:
Solution 1:
1. Close Elements.
2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
Solution 2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
Solution 3: Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
Solution 4:
On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
Go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere else.
Now launch PSE and check if it works.

Running mac os x version 10.6.8Easiest way is to have an external drive to which you copy the things you store like pictures, movies, and music
which take up a lot of space. Then delete them fron the main drive and clean it up with one of the maintenance utilities. You can readily access the external drive's contents whenever you wish.

OS X 10.5.4 Keeps Freezing my computer! First time experienced
The main screen has a grey drop down that says that I need to restart my computer by holding down the power button, it boots up fine, but it keeps freezing every few hours. Here are the programs that I typically run at the same time:

Azerus
Camino
MOTU Audio Setup (This has all of a sudden started having problems minimizing the Window)

AttilaI'm having the exact same problem. Main screen grey down with an international message saying I need to restart my computer... I took the drastic step and went through the process of archiving my content and erasing the drive -- gone through 7 passes to zero out the hard drive -- and reinstalling OS X with new clean softwares. I've spent several hours Google searching and scouring Apple Discussions and it appears that the kernel panic issues is more common than normal with the latest OS X 10.5.4.

My Mac mini keeps freezing, i use few programs but all of them keeps freezing in my computer even the utilities, as per this example, i was trying to open Disk Utility, and i had to force quit because i waitied for hours and it didn't open, just showed the color rolling ball (waiting cursor).

See if DU works this way... 10.7 or greater, reboot holding CMD+r keys & use Disk Utility from there for Repairing Drive.
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode, like stalls, beachballs, etc...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Open Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities, select All Processes & sort on CPU%, any indications there?
How much RAM & free space do you have also, click on the Memory & Disk Usage Tabs.
In the Memory tab, are there a lot of Pageouts? -
My contacts program keeps freezing up
My iMac keeps freezing up. I have only had this problem after upgrading my operating system to snow leopard. It just keeps scanning and you cannot use the program the only thing I have been able to do is shut down the computer and I can only do that with the power button.

My Mac Pro starts up when I turn on the power supply (when I plug it to the outlet), BEFORE I switch on the button on the computer, why is this happening? I should have followed up with a progress report because I eventually eliminated all the problems I was having with my Mac Pro, now it's behaving like a new computer… beautifully. I did originally take Grant's advice above, changing the setting that I had in the System Preferences > Energy Saver but that only stopped from rebooting on its own when I shut down my Mac properly. Otherwise it continued to restart on its own after freezing or crushing when I switched on the power. I took my machine to the Apple Store and after many tests they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I was very depressed about the whole business.
It was after going onto many of the other Apple related websites that I discovered that it wasn't a faulty power switch or fan, as as I originally thought, but found out that my problem was related to the Graphic Card and possibly I did not have enough ram (I had the original amount of 2 GB). The original card that came with the computer: 512 MB ATI Radeon X1900 XT was over heating and forcing my machine to shut down, I think it was because I had upgraded to OSX Lion which on its own requires at least 2 GB of ram to operate well. I added 4 GB of Ram to the 2GB I had (4GB kit (2GBx2), Apple 240-pin FBDIMM, DDR2 PC2-5300 upgrades for Apple Mac Pro (4-core) 1st Gen. - 2006-2007 Desktop/PC, CT579443 from Crucial.com about $160 for the set) and replaced the Graphic Card with ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB from Apple (around $260), (ATI Radeon HD 5770 Graphics Upgrade Kit for Mac Pro (Mid 2010) - Apple Store (U.S.)) This card works very well with my original Mac Pro 2008. I installed it about two weeks ago and no problem with it starting on its own, over heating or freezing. OSX Lion works well and I'm thinking of upgrading to Mountain Lion once I learn that my Mac Pro 1.1 will work with the new hardware I installed.
Your problem could just be the power cord but I agree with you that doesn't sound right, when I mentioned faulty switch I meant the part where the power cord meets the power button, the unit which houses the power distribution, I thought at first that it could be faulty but changed my mind because of the computer overheating.
I don't know if this is of any help to you but I hope your trouble will be solved with the new cord. -
