Conditional drop down list

Is it possible to create a conditional drop down list using Adobe XI for MAC? I know I've done this in the past with LifeCycle, but there still appears to be no LifeCycle application for MAC.
My apologies in advance in the event this post is in duplication...everything I searched in the forum didn't provide me resolution.

I have downloaded the AcroForm version (ListProgramming_Part1_AcroForm.pdf).
I'm not able to consistently recreate. I was first playing with the form by selecting values in the drop down. At one point I went to Document Javascripts and select "Example1". I chose to edit. Make no changes and select "OK" I get "SyntaxError: missing } in compound statement 39 at line 40"

I am not able to recreate if I select "Edit all Javascripts" only when I use document javascripts.

Conditional validation for drop down list

Hi all,
I have been working on getting the conditional validation for drop down list to work but no luck. Here is my situation. I have a page with 'time' and 'source' drop down which contains a list of values along with null value. I have two buttons 'save' and 'close'. when a User clicks on 'Save' button, no checking should occur and the values filled in the form should be stored into the database. When a user clicks on 'Close' button, validation should occur and messages should be displayed saying 'values should be filled' . After the user fills each drop down list and hits close button, changes should be saved to the database. I used the technique posted by Jayashri and wrote the validation code in 'Close button action method'

');If the above does not work, it could be the definition of the your fld_1 select - options. Looks like they allow null values, and if null is not the first option then selectIndex = 0 will be a not null option by default.
Moreover, the below has redundant condition as ==0 and < 1 amount to the same thing. selectIndex cannot be negative.

Selecting Top N records in a table using a slider or drop down list

Hi Experts,
I have a query that displays 1000 records ( say) in VC iview.
Can i have a drop down list in the variable form to control the number of records displayed in the output table by the user .
or can i have a horizaontal slider ( Min value is 2 -max 1000) to display the number of records in the output table selected by the horizaontal slider.
basically iam having a requirement to give the user the capability to select the Top N records of the output table...where the user enters the N value in Drop downlist of variable form or user slides the N value using Horizontal slider

Yes it is possible. First you need to create 'Condition' in BEx query where you have to create 'TOP N' & 'N' should be a variable input. Then you will get this in 'Variable Screen' of a query. In VC for this same variable you can use slider. Use 'Select' function in the 'Action' of the slider & pass it to require table/graph.
Try this, this will give you the required result.

Swap textbox for drop-down list in "search" section of work list panel

Hi everybody
I am using albpm 6.0, when I do searches for instances in the work list panel I can add conditions to the search, for example if I select the "Priority" condition I can select my condition from a drop-down list but if I select the "Description" condition there isn't drop-down list instead a textbox appear so my question is: Can I control or change that behavior? I would like to do that when someone select the "Description" condition a drop-down list containing the values appear so he doesn't have to type anything.

Now I need to know which element is selected so based on that I need to perform some function. eg. based on the selected data , i need to populate the next drop down list.

Write the code in this event.
Get the attribute value to lV_xxxxxx using get attribute.

Direct Database Request - Add Drop Down List

Hi,
I have created a direct database request and would like to represent the output in table format. How can I add a page drop down filter, I would like to move two columns as page drop down lists and also be able to view the columns in the table.
I know how to acheive this with a pivot table, but can this also be done with a table layout?

Here is the answer to your specific question: No, you can't do "page drop downs" in Table View. You will have to use Pivot Table as described in previous posts.
You will have to use dashboard prompts to get your choices. You are probably saying, "but dashboard prompts must be built on a Subject Area column and I can't select it because I am using a direct database as my source. So how do I create the prompt?"
Good question. My question is, on the columns that you need as the "drop down filters," are those columns in any existing Subject Area? I know that your request is built by direct database, but if the specific column you need for your dashboard prompt can be found in a Subject Area, then you can use that Subject Area on which to build your dashboard prompts.
You can add a WHERE condition in your direct database to receive the presentation variables. Read below to learn how:

Use of Zero (0) in Required Drop-Down List Field

Using LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2.1x and Acrobat Pro Extended 9.1.2.
I have a drop-down list (DDL) on a form for entering a quantity. For certain reasons (i.e., quantity bundling/packages), I want to use a DDL.
For one thing, if I set the default value to zero (0), that value does not appear in the DDL in the published form.
Moreover, I've set the field to "User Entered - Required". However, the form doesn't recognize/validate zero (0) as an entry in this field, and I need it to.
Is there a trick to using a zero (0) as a value in a DDL, esp. one set to "required"?

I too was unable to recreate the error/condition, so, I deleted and
re-inserted the fields, without a problem.

Drop down list in report program

Hi all,
I am using the function module VRM_SET_VALUES to display the drop down list for a selection screen field for a report program. It works fine in foreground but in background mode the job is getting cancelled and the error log states 'Make an entry in all required fields'. If I remove this code for drop down list for a selection screen field then the program runs correctly in back ground mode. So i feel there is some problem with the function module. Can anyone suggest me an alternate function module or how to correct this error. I have used the condition if 'SY-BATCH' is initial only then to exceute the code for displaying the drop down list for a selection screen field. But even then the background job gets cancelled. The function module is called in the event AT SELECTION-SCREEN output.

Hi,
Easy! You are calling that function module in the wrong event. It should be called in :
at selection-screen on value-request for <field name>
This way it is only executed if the user presses F4 (dropdown help) on that field.
Therefore it will no longer cause a problem for your background job.

I need help with drop down lists

I have a form that does not have lots of space and I want to use drop down lists to fill in specific information that describes site conditions. The problem I have is that the drop down list is only set up for a single line and that is not enough space for what I want in the drop down list. In other words, I have items that are several sentences. I have seen some descriptions of creating a drop down list that then fills in a text box that has multiple lines. Unfortunately, that is not an ideal solution for me. I just want the drop down list to select a single phrase. Here is an example of what I want to be able to select in the drop down.
The water heater spilled flue gases in excess of 5 minutes under worst case conditions. The combusiton testing was completed with in 30 days of the invoice submittal.
The form does not allow me to create a field that goes all the way across the page so it needs to look something like this:

I have three items that are very similar in length and text for each drop down. There are 9 drop downs right now. I am using the drop downs to fill in a form that is used by several people and I want to keep things as simple as possible. Associated with the drop down already is a check box. When the check box is checked, it fills in a text box with a score (1 point, 5 points, etc). That score then tallys for a total with all the other scores in another text box. Using a drop box to fill in a text box is just getting to busy and than I have to distinguish each drop down item so it is clear which text you are selecting.

Dynamic drop down list with dynamic sql

I jave a JSP page which has two drop down list boxes.
One list box is populated from the databse.
ListBox1:
values: kishan
maha
tony
assuming all those were populated from database.
ListBox2:
values: Chennai
Bangalore
Hyderabad
should come if "kishan" is selected from the first listbox.
if "maha" is selected then
Values: Delhi
Goa
Mumbai
should be populated from the databse using the where condition
got by the first selection.
Both these boxes are in same page and i do not want to transfer
this to another page..staying in the same how to accomplish this.
An onChange function of the selection list on listBox1 can be
written which gives me what value is selected. This i can get in
Java script. But how to give this value to a jsp variable which
queries the database using the selected value.
Is there any other logic i can use.
remember there is no request that is passed. both are in same page and on selection it should stay in same page populating the
second one dynamically.Bcoz what i have said is the operation in one row.. the same should happed for 5 rows in a form so.. pls send me code if possible or links related to this problem

You can use Ajax ;-) or you do a server roundtrip (aka postback) i.e. the onchange event of ListBox1 submits the form and the server returns the same page with the updated ListBox2

For the transaction type 'Service Process' , I want to suppress certain values in the drop down list box for the fields Priority and Category based on certain conditions.I couldn't find a suitable badi for this scenario.
Is there a solution so that I can control the values displayed in the drop down list box ?

How do I use one drop down list to refresh the list in another drop down?

I am using a drop down list full of years (i.e. 2008, 2009..etc). When I make my selection from this drop down list (say for instance I select 2009) I want it to update the available data in the second drop down list. I have the query statement set up within the JSP page but it needs to be a dynamic SQL statement based off the value I selected in the first drop down.

The variable "year" is the value I need to figure out how to assign. Now this variable is a Java variable (attribute) and Im unsure how to get the value from the previous drop down and assign it to that. Basically I need the JavaScript value from the first drop down assigned to the Java attribute "year".

Here are my two drop down lists. As you can see I build the second list dynamically based off the value of the year. I want to be able to assign my year to the value I select in this first drop down. How do I do that?? I only want to show games for the year I select. I currently have the year hardcoded to "2009" as you see below. Using a variable/drop down list in header of planning layout

I have created a simple BPS application for purely GL planning (No CO related objects like cost centre involved). I have the following characteristics in the header of the manuel planning layout.
Business area
Chart of accounts
Company code
Currency
Currency Type
Fiscal year
Fiscal Year Variant
Fiscal year/period
Value type
Version
I have created variables for Business area, Fiscal Year, Fiscal Year Period, Posting Period and Version. The client wants either a variable or a drop down list for these characteristics in the header in the web application. When I assign a variable and put the characteristic in header, I get the error message in the web application saying header characteristic can only have a fixed value. Can someone tell me if it is possible and if so than how? I'll be very grateful for any inputs. Thanks a lot.

Hi,
When you create a variable, assign some values to the variable. These then become available in the drop down box. Ths first time a Web interface is called, these variable values are initial.As a result, u get the error messages. Select the variable values and then the error message should go away.
