Conditional Scheduling of report with Prompt values

Hi All,
My requirement is that I select some values in the dashboard prompt and get the report. Is there any methodlogy to schedule that report with having data in report according to
set prompt values on the fly that is dynamically.
We can a link below the report to schedule it but how can we pass the condition parameters? Please help.

Hi Kishore,
Thanks very much for the reply. It answers one part of the question.
I am thinking to put a text property or button below the report and is it possible to attach the report values with current prompt selection and the request is attached to the in delivery content section which means user need not pick up the delivery content only he has to schedule current report only by clicking the link or button? Can I have script for that.
To make it simple If I am the user I would like to see following:
1. I go to dashboard page and select the prompt and get the report result.
2. I have link or button below to schedule.
3. I press the button I go to delivers section.
4. I have current report attached to the delivery content with default selection or current selection.
5. I modify other parameters and schedule.
Please help me.

    Dear experts,
    I need to schedule about 300 reports to run on a monthly basis. Those reports have to prompts to be filled: year and month.
    How can I schedule it and fill the prompts automatically? I thought of scheduling a script that would run those reports but I'm not able to find a script that fills the prompts.
    Can you help me?

    What version of BOE are you on? In any case, you'd need to use the ReportEngine SDK. You might be better off posting this to the appropriate  Business Intelligence SDK  forum.

  • How to schedule Webi Documents with Prompts with RESTful Web Services

    Hello,
    I am trying to schedule Webi Documents with Prompts using RESTful Web Services with prompts. I am using Simple Rest Client app provided by Google Chrome. We have Business Objects SP6 Patch 1.
    However the documentation for RESTful Web Services has only examples for the following
    1. Schedule Documents without any Prompts to various destinations and recurrences.
    2. Refresh Documents with Prompts.
    Is there any example for scheduling documents with prompts? Please advise
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Peter,
    With Rest Client, on BI4.0 SP6, you can schedule Webi documents with prompts using the following:
    URL: http://<servername>:6405/biprws/raylight/v1/documents/<docid>/schedules
    Method:POST
    Request Body:
    <schedule>
    <name>Enter values for City:</name>
    <format type="webi"/>
    <destination>
    <inbox/>
    </destination>
    <once retriesAllowed="2" retryIntervalInSeconds="60">
    <startdate>2013-08-26T15:58:51.000+02:00</startdate>
    <enddate>2013-08-27T15:58:51.000+02:00</enddate>
    </once>
    <parameters>
    <parameter optional="false" type="prompt" dpId="DP0">
    <id>0</id>
    <technicalName>Enter values for City:</technicalName>
    <answer constrained="false" type="Text">
    <values>
    <value>Austin</value>
    </values>
    </answer>
    </parameter>
    </parameters>
    </schedule>
    Using the above request you can schedule the Webi document with prompts to inbox destination  and set for once.
    The schedule can be sent in different formats to several destinations and set just for once, daily,
    hourly or monthly.
    You can also check the example for this on page 275 of SAP Webi RESTful SDK user guide for BI4.0 SP6 below:

  • ReportViewerBean refreshReport behavior running report with prompt

    I've been blocked trying to test this behavior: whether or not the automatic refresh (on a timer) of a report with prompt will bring up the Refresh Report Data" window, asking about current or new prompt values, requiring manual intervention on each refresh.  So, I take it to the community!  When a report with prompt running from the server or within the client is manually refreshed, the Refresh Report Data window comes up and must be "answered" before the actual refresh occurs.  We need to have 15 second automatic refresh of the report with prompts.
    Does the ReportViewerBean::refreshReport() behave in the same way (bringing up the Refresh Report Data window and blocking data refresh), or does it simply result in refreshing the query data in the report?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    What you have to do is to purge the data for your deski reports then refresh them and republish them and then proceed.
    The other thing which may cause this is your variables.
    Are you using some variables, like date, year etc?
    If yes then recheck them. Sometimes these variable gets corrupted.

    We have JDK 1.6 installed.  The License Merge Module is not related to
    this issue.
    The files under \Program Files\Common Files\Business
    Objects\3.0\crystalreportviewers11\prompting  are not being installed.
    If we copy files, into this folder structure the reports work.
    One of the Business Object's Merge Modules should install the files
    there rather than just an empty folder structure.
    I got was able to figure out how to enter a customer support message.
    They said that they could not support us because we were not on CRXIR2
    (Crystal Reports 11 Release 2).
    I found a download for CRXIR2SP4 (same thing service pack 4).
    I installed it the Merge Module names changed to include a "_5"
    Was:
    CrystalReports11_RDC_Reportengine.msm
    CrystalReports11_RDC_Runtime.msm
    CrystalReports11_HotFix_Merge.msm (This is contrived by us from one of

    Now:
    CrystalReports11_5_RDC_Reportengine.msm

    CrystalReports11_5_RDC_License.msm (should have been included)
    *CrystalReports11_HotFix_Merge.msm (not needed anymore)
    I will try to put a installer together with these.  If this work there
    will be some complexity around uninstalling the old one and installing
    the new one.

  • Scheduling a report with System Date as prompt

    Hi Experts,
    We have came across a requirement where users want to have a date prompt.
    While scheduling the report, by default prompt is to be populated with system date and it (prompt) should also allow us to select a different date.
    This report is used for regular run and also for scheduling.
    We need a single report with single prompt which allows us to run for any random date when prompted and also to be scheduled for the latest date.
    Please give us advice/ suggestion.
    Thanks
    Uttam

    Hi Neil,
    We have tried both the approaches given by you, but it is not working for my requirement.
    Let me explain it with the below scenario.
    scenario:
      we have developed the report by using 2 data providers,
    Dp1: It is a custom Query with date as follows ( it is a Transaction data) which brings the data from 1st day of month(user prompt) to user's prompt date.
    TRANSACTION_DATE BETWEEN last_day(ADD_MoNTHS(@Prompt('As Of Date :','DT','ABC\plant\Transaction Date',Mono,Free,Persistent,,User:0)
    Dp2: It is also Custom Query, but it has only data on month ends.
    DIMV_plant_EOP.TRANS_END_OF_MONTH_DATE = last_day(ADD_MoNTHS(@Prompt('As Of Date :','DT','ABC\plant\EOP plant Attributes\EOP Date',Mono,Free,Persistent,,User:0),-1))
    Report is having 3 prompts, namely
    1) As of date (prompt)
    2) Plant (prompt)
    3) Country (Prompt)
    For example: if my report is ran on 06-june-2014,
    DP1: Brings the data from 1st of June to 6th of june.
    DP2: Brings the Data from Inception to last month(say 30-may-2014) because it has only month end data.
    Upto this it is fine.... but
    My requirement is to schedule the report daily......
    Example: User want to schedule a report today(10-July-2014), tomorrow(11-July-2014) and so on...
    Scheduling should be done daily i.e, it has to fetch the data 10-Jul-2014, 11-july-2014,12-july-2014.... so on.
    Automatically scheduling has to take the current date.
    Thanks,..

  • Scheduling BO deski reports with prompts

    Hi All,
    I am pretty new to this site and Business Objects also... can anyone help me plzzz...
    Below is my requirement..
    Environment: Business Objects XI 3.1, Oracle Database, Deski reports.
    In my deski report I have column called Product ID..This column has many list of values (for example 500 lov's) and this varies every month, may increase or decrease.
    I have to schedule this report(like for a period of one year and should run every month-end) and it should generate all separate .xls reports for all the ID lov's , i,e it should generate like all 500 reports at a time and send it to a file system(Destination).
    And these IDu2019s are not users in BO and there are no Profiles created in BO.
    Can anyone tell me how can we do this.

    Hello,
    This is a very common requirement but unfortunately it's not an "out of the box" functionality.
    If you know Java script you should investigate "Publication Extensions", this will allow you to add post publication rules.
    Have a look at Page 33 in the publishing guide:
    [http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31/en/xi3-1_publisher_en.pdf]
    Publication Extensions:
    A publication extension is a dynamically loaded library of code that applies
    business logic to publications. Publication extensions are useful for situations
    where you require additional automated customization of publications after
    processing or delivery.
    For example, use publication extensions to perform the following tasks after
    processing:
    u2022 Merge documents of the same type (for example, merging multiple Excel
    spreadsheets into a single Excel workbook).
    u2022 Add password protection to or encrypt a document.
    u2022 Convert a document to a different format.
    u2022 Create custom log files for the publication job.

  • Scheduling a Report with Dynamic Parameter Values

    Post Author: etlag
    CA Forum: Publishing
    I have created a report using a parameter that has dynamic values - meaning the user can choose a date from a specific field. It works fine once published in InfoView, but when I schedule the report, when I try to enter the parameter I get promted for a login for the database, even though I have already entered this in the CMC report properties.
    I have other reports that are using static values and they can be scheduled without entering the database login.
    Any ideas what I am missing?

    dear etlag
    its known issues, you've to set the default database connection to this report from the "CMC" web-bases appliaction , find this object click it go to "process" tab and then click the "database" tab,,, set your default database connection there and finally dont forget to set "Use same database logon as when report is run" at the end of the page
    and cilck ok
    try it ,, good luck

  • Schedule a report with parameter

    Hope this isn't a silly question - I'm very much a new boy to Business Objects.
    I have a report that the user wants to have run weekly. However, the report prints weekly data forecasts for the current week and for a number of weeks to come - probably 12. The only way I've found to limit the query is using an actual date prompt when running the report to restrict the query range.
    I could probably schedule individual occurences, but this would be quite an overhead. Is there a way to schedule the report and pass in a parameter of (today + 12 weeks) or something similar?
    TIA
    Malcolm

    There are a couple of approaches that you can take, but both require some assistance from your universe designer. For the first approach, your universe designer can create date-based objects like "today" or "start of this week". These objects would be based on database functions (like sysdate for Oracle or getdate() for SQL Server) that return the date of "today" and perform other operations on that value to turn it into various date ranges. You can then make conditions on these objects.
    Another approach is to create what I (and others) call a "Magic date" which is used in prompts. When the report is run interactively you can enter any date you want. When the report is scheduled, the "magic date" value is entered instead. By using this technique you can have one report that runs both interactively and in batch. The magic date is converted to today's date when the report is run, so as each week expires and a new week starts the report will run for that new week automatically. Yet the report can still be run interactively by entering any other date.
    I have a number of blog posts on [dynamic date objects|http://www.dagira.com/category/design/dynamic-dates/] as well as the [magic date process|http://www.dagira.com/2008/07/21/using-a-magic-date-value-in-prompts/] that can provide more material for you (or your universe developer) to read.

  • Scheduling WEBI reports with formulas for parameters

    CA Forum: WebIntelligence Reporting
    Needed to do the same thing, with lots of different date ranges - month to date, year to date, last month, last week, fiscal year, etc.  Came up with a solution that takes a bit to set-up but then is re-usable and flexible.  I'll do my best to try and explain. 1)  Within the universe, created a "CurrentDate" derived table that calculates various points in time (yesterday, first of the week, last of the week, first of last month, last of last month, etc.).  Because the product would not let me use an unlinked table in calculations, I used a common table as the "from" in the SQL and included a common identifier so I could link the derived table to an existing table in the universe - I selected a small one with only a few records.  Using Oracle here, not SQL, so you'd need to modify to use SQL date functions, and add/delete the calculations you need:select distinctcommonidentiferfield,trunc(sysdate) as CurrentDate,trunc(sysdate)-1 as Yesterday,trunc(sysdate)1 as Tomorrow,case  when to_char(sysdate,'D')=2 then trunc(sysdate)-3  when to_char(sysdate,'D')=1 then trunc(sysdate)-2  else trunc(sysdate)-1  end as PriorWorkDay,case  when to_char(sysdate,'D')=6 then trunc(sysdate)3  when to_char(sysdate,'D')=7 then trunc(sysdate)2  else trunc(sysdate)1  end as NextWorkDay,case  when to_char(sysdate,'D')=5 then trunc(sysdate)4  when to_char(sysdate,'D')=6 then trunc(sysdate)4  else trunc(sysdate)2  end as TwoWorkDaysFromToday,trunc(sysdate,'D') as StartThisWeek,trunc(sysdate,'D')6 as EndThisWeek,trunc(sysdate,'D')-7 as StartLastWeek,trunc(sysdate,'D')-1 as EndLastWeek,trunc(sysdate,'D')7 as StartNextWeek,trunc(sysdate,'D')13 as EndNextWeek,trunc(sysdate,'MM') as FirstOfThisMonth,trunc(last_day(sysdate)) as LastOfThisMonth,trunc(last_day(add_months(sysdate,-2))1) as FirstOfLastMonth,trunc(last_day(add_months(sysdate,-1))) as LastOfLastMonth,case  when extract(month from sysdate)>=07 then extract(year from sysdate)1  else extract(year from sysdate)  end as CurrentFiscalYear,to_date(concat('07/01/',case                          when extract(month from sysdate)>=07 then extract(year from sysdate)                          else extract(year from sysdate)-1                          end),'mm/dd/yyyy') as StartCurrentFiscalYear,to_date(concat('23:59:59 06/30/',case                                   when extract(month from sysdate)>=07 then extract(year from sysdate)+1                                   else extract(year from sysdate)                                   end), 'hh24:mi:ss mm/dd/yyyy') as EndCurrentFiscalYear,case  when extract(month from sysdate)>=07 then extract(year from sysdate)  else extract(year from sysdate)-1  end as LastFiscalYear,to_date(concat('07/01/',case                          when extract(month from sysdate)>=07 then extract(year from sysdate)-1                          else extract(year from sysdate)-2                          end),'mm/dd/yyyy') as StartLastFiscalYear,to_date(concat('23:59:59 06/30/',case                                   when extract(month from sysdate)>=07 then extract(year from sysdate)                                   else extract(year from sysdate)-1                                   end), 'hh24:mi:ss mm/dd/yyyy') as EndLastFiscalYearfromsmallexistingtable 1a)  Link the derived "CurrentDate" table to smallexistingtable using
    your commonidentiferfield (at least I had to do this, though everything
    parsed ok in designer, when used in a query unlinked, it screamed quite
    unhappily which is why I ended up basing the query on
    smallexistingtable and linking). 2)  Created a "Dates" class and objects for each date in the above table, ie. "Current Date", "Yesterday", "Tomorrow", "First of last month", "Last of last month"3)  Created an object called Prompt - Date Range - Start Date.  This prompts the user to select the date range type they want and also allows for "custom" date ranges for on-demand reports.  For scheduled reports, you just select your response as part of the scheduled instance.casewhen @Prompt('Select records for','A',{'Today','Yesterday','Tomorrow','Prior Work Day','Next Work Day','Today - Date Selection that is used to select the appropriate records based on your record date being within the date range selected:@Select(My Date Field) between @Select(Prompt Fields\Prompt - Date Range - Start Date) and @Select(Prompt Fields\Prompt - Date Range - End Date)6)  When you create your query, just use the filter created in step 5.  I also usually include the Prompt - Date Range - Start Date and Prompt - Date Range - End Date objects so that I can use them min(Prompt - Date Range - Start Date) and max(Prompt - Date Range - End Date) in the report header to display the actual date range selected (all the value in Prompt - Date Range - Start Date are exactly the same, I use the min to avoid multiple value errors - same for Prompt - Date Range - End Date, I use max just because logically my brain likes that better).  When you refresh the query, it will ask what date range type you want, a start date and end date - used for custom ranges - you can enter any date if not selecting a custom date as it is ignored. Hope that makes sense and is helpful.  It's worked really well for me.  I also have an even more complicated version (imagine that!) for situations where there may be multiple dates a user can choose from, ie a posting date vs the date of service.  It will ask the user which they want and in the Prompt - Date Range - Start Date, a case statement is added to handle the selection/use of different date fields.Deb

  • How to schedule multiple reports with different local to change static field language ?

    Hi all,
    we have requirement that we will place multiple schedule request on same server ,This schedule request will be different local setting with parameter value like: en-GB,en-US,Chinese...etc .We used translation Manager for this and it takes this parameter and change report language for static fields.
    problem is that ,on server it is not working properly,we tested for one report .if we pass prompt value to change local setting in report the we need to log off and login again in CMC to reflect new local or on BI Launchpad we need to refresh page then it shows new language.
    How we can do this with multiple scheduled report which will have different local value like en-GB,en-US,Chinese,German....?These schedule request are getting placed in server by one user .
    Please help us with sample code.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    The only approach I can think of is to create a template report which uses variables
    For each column you would need to variable
    v_columnAName and v_columnAValue
    v_columnAName would have a if statement in it
    =if([client]="clientA" or [client]="clientC";NameOf([firstName]);if([client]="clientB";NameOf([SSN]);NameOf([lastName]));
    v_columnA would have a if statement in it
    =if([client]="clientA" or [client]="clientC";[firstName];if([client]="clientB";[SSN],[lastName]));
    This would only work when you had a small set of clients.
    This might be more managable if it was done in the universe
    Regards
    Alan

  • Drill down Report with Prompts

    I need to create a simple dashboard report in OBIEE analytics, which takes user inputs ( prompts )  for a YEAR , STATE ( & hierarchy) and displays Population
    State Hierarchy is ---> State -- City --Zip code
    Format of report is simple
    User Input    ( Section 1 )
    Year =  Year123   (  Mandatory)
    State = State 1  ( Optional )is
    City = City1 ( Optional )    ( State will be  mandatory as this drop down gets populated from State value
    Population Report  ( This should be initial view with a given Year input and any othe optional ones )                        Section 2
    Sate
    Population
         +State 1
    323222
         +State 2
    4343434
    And drill down on State should be feasible
    Questions & Issues I am facing
    1  Do i have to create a dimensional hierarchy  Column at Presentation layer to enbale drill down  . I have the related data  in 2 dimension tables ( Time  &  Region ) and the relation in Population Fact table
    2 )  If yes , how do i pass  user prompts to this report ... I was able to do using selection step  for the state ..But not able to pass the City and Year
    3 ) Year is not part of Report Display ..but an input ..How do i use the prompt for it .
    i was able to get the report in simple table format ( no drill down ) , with prompts using isPrompted ..But i am lost with the Dimensional Hierarchy + Prompt .
    4 )Is Dimensional Hierarchy needed for Drill Down  ? How do i pass all the user inputs ( as above )  to it
    Please suggest if there is any alternative

    The problem is with drill down . We need two types of drill down action link . One for 'All' to show all values and another is for 'Y','N' values. I can use go url for this scenario however, I am using chart and the column is a measure, I cannot make the data type html otherwise chart will be blank. I cannot use condition in the first drill down as it does not show 'All' values from union. only 'Y','N' .
