Configuating 11.1.2.1 on window r2 SQL database Schema
I am install 11.1.2.1 using SQL for my Database
My question is if I drop and recreate the table for shared service will this be a issue for the HSS_Component Table
well as I continued with the install the database failed again
what logs can view i review which will explain why the SQL database is failing
we are running a SQL trace as we are doing the install

If you want to reconfigure again then yes you can drop and recreate the databases.
The logs will be in the same location as your last post in the logs directory - Install error when confgure Database
I can't believe all the problems you seem to be having installing, it's like a never ending saga, do you want me to install it for you :)
Cheers

Deleting old data won't reduce Windows Azure SQL Database usage
My Windows Azure SQL Database usage keeps increasing. Deleting old data didn't help much. I was wondering how to figure out the distribution of the usage. All tables in my DB should not occupy more than 5GB and now it is most 12GB. Please help!
http://yanflex.comHello,
The database fee is amortized over the month and charged daily. The daily fee depends on the peak size that each database reached that day and the maximum number of databases you use. So, if the peak size of database is 12 GB and then you delete data
to reduce the size, it still charge based on 12GB this day.
You can use the following statement to get the database size:
SELECT SUM(reserved_page_count)*8.0/1024 as DBsizeinMB
FROM sys.dm_db_partition_stats;

Windows Azure SQL Databases Statistics Best practices
ON SQL Azure is it a good practice to have Statistics auto-update disabled? or otherwise.
Pl do not compare Azure to on premise SQL Engine.. Those who have worked on Azure know what i mean..
It is a pain to maintain the indexes specially if they are have BLOB Type Columns.. No Index online rebuilds are allowed in Azure. I was targetting statistics as i see the data being frequently updated.. so maybe i can have the developers update the stats
as soon as they do major update/insert or i can have a job that can do it on weekly basis if i turn off the suto stats update.
I execute a Stats FULLSCAN Update every week, but i think it is overwritten by the Auto update stats .. So Now back to my question does anyone have any experience with turning off stats on Azure.. (any Benefits)You can't disable auto stats in WASD. They're on by default and have to stay that way.
Rebuilding indexes is possible, but you have to be careful how you approach it. See my blog post for rebuilding indexes:
http://sqltuna.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/index-fragmentation-in-wasd.html
As a rule I wouldn't have LOB columns as part of an index key - is that what's causing you issues?
Statistics work the same as on-premises, in that they are triggered when a certain threshold of changes is reached (or some other triggers). That's not a bad thing though, as it means they're up to date. Is there any reason you think this is
causing you issues? -
Adding Windows Azure SQL Database to Virtual network
Hi Azure team,
Is there any provision available in Azure to map the SQL Azure database to Azure virtual network?
Scenario:
Azure virtual netowrk has been already created. Worker role can be add to that network. Likely to add the SQL Azure database to that network.
Is it possible? Pleade let us the stpes to do it.
Thanks,You cannot add a SQL Database to an Azure Virtual Network, see
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/library/windowsazure/dn133803.aspx -
Working with windows workflows,sql database
in this scenario, the state machine would have two states user1 and user2,the user1 update a record in databse,at that time a notification(popup) "this record is used by any person are not?" checks, and if user2 uses the same record a notification
(popup)"check this record is updated by any person are not?", the users will use uniqueid for login to the applicationHi Ashok,
I think " row, page, and table locking " might help to avoid deadlocks as discussed
here

Hi Experts,
I am trying to install sap IDES ECC 6 EhP 7 from scratch. Everything was doing well but I got an error on starting instance. SAPMMC Console Process disp+work.EXE do not change from status: "Server in State STARTING" (Yellow). I have been searching and most of the problem is related to Kernel. I upgraded Kernel to the latest version: SAPEXEDB_101-20012221.SAR and SAPEXE_101-20012222.SAR. I also check my host file and set my IP address with my computer name. I check logs dev_disp and dev_w0 but I am not able to see the error. I am installing IDES into Virtual Machine, Windows 7, SQL Server 2012, 8 Gb memory.
Best Regards.

Steps to migrate SQL Database to Windows/Oracle
hi
We have an SQL database in our client network and client wants to migrate it to Windows/Oracle. Currently they have multiple databases on the same SQL server.
So I am curious to know if oracle also allows the same in Windows.
I read that we can indeed install one oracle home and use DBCA to create multiple oracle databases on the same host. Any pointers to any documents relevant? I also want to understood this setup and what it means for performance, backup/restore/recovery, patching/upgrade etc.
Request your valuable inputs on this topic please.

As you said you are an Oracle dba so you should know that within one Oracle home, we can create as many database as we want based on the hardware specs of that machine, though its not a good idea. You can create multiple database definitely under one home on Windows as well.

Moving from 32 bit Linux to 64 bit Windows version on database standard edition
hi,
when migrating from 32 bit Linux to 64 bit Windows version on database standard edition, is there a server media needed?
if yes, can you give me more details on what it consists of?
thank you,

How do you import media and metadata from Windows Photo Gallery database?
How do you import videos and photos and their metadata from a Windows Photo Gallery database into the Elements Organizer, especially metadata that is only contained in the Photo Gallery database file (pictures.pd6) and not embedded in the video and photo media files themselves?
And when you import the metadata into Organizer, do you get all of these available elements?

Also, if the media files in Organizer are ever moved to another PC, is there a way to migrate all of the Organizer's metadata with the files to use with another instance of Premiere Elements?OK. I think we're getting close to the answer.
The reason I'm asking about this is because for Photo Gallery, media files can NEVER be moved without losing all database metadata. I'm sorry I didn't know this when I started with Photo Gallery and I think I've learned an important lesson: Be sure you can move your work BEFORE you start.
So, to clarify Organizer's behavior, let me ask the question another way. Let's say that in a few years, after I've added tags, people, places, etc. to hundreds of media files in Organizer, I decide to get a new PC. When I move all that stuff to my new petabyte drive on the new PC, do we know if Premiere Elements Organizer on the new PC would be able to read the original Organizer's metadata? -
Connecting to an Azure SQL Database from a Windows C# Form
Hi,
Is it possible to connect to an SQL database in Azure from Visual Studio C# 2010 or 2012? If so how is this done. Is it the same as if you were connecting to SQL Express database with the use of a connection string? Any directions or tutorials would be of
great help!
Thanks!Hi,
>>Thanks for the reply Paul, That is disappointing. I am trying to get my students to create a C# application that will connect with a database in Azure. Is there another approach besides SQL that I could use?
Using SQL Azure will work fine (see below), if the students are familiar with SQL Server and SQL Databases it will be great for them to see how it works in the cloud. As an alternative you could explore Azure Storage, using Table Storage, Blob Storage or
the new Document Database features.
>>Azure enforces a firewall that prevents direct external access to the database server. You can add a firewall rule allowing external access, but the rules only support connecting from a fixed IP address because you have to specify the numeric IP
from which connection will be allowed.
You can specify ranges here, so you could cover a range of IP addresses. You can even specify 0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255 and allow all IP addresses, this could be an option if you don't know where the students will be connecting from, and you are using a
database for the exercise where you don't care too much about the security.
When I have run classes I typically use an IP address range, for example XXX.YYY.ZZZ.0 to XXX.YYY.ZZZ.255 if the students are accessing from the same classroom, and the external IP address may vary. You may find that they all have the same external IP address
if they are on the same internal network.
Also, with many students accessing the same database, you may get throttling if they place a lot of load on it. This is cool, as you can also teach them about transient fault handling and resource throttling :-).

Java for PI 7.1 EHP1 in Windows and SQL Server 2008
Hi Gurus
I try to install PI 7.1 EHP1 in Windows and SQL Server 2008. The questions is :
What version of java is the correct for this installation???
And where i can download it??
Thanks and advance!!!Hi Aaron,
The version for PI 7.1 is 1.5, instead of the 1.4.2 of 7.0/3.0.
Anyway, for VM settings, you should refer to SAP JVM, which
is used for the PI 7.11.
Hope it helps!

thanx in advance..Hi,
Consider the above scenario,I suggest you to use the SQL Server Compact+ ClickOnce Deployment, A Compact SQL database is a file that can be bundled with your application installation. Below is a link guiding you through the creation process of a SQL Compact
database.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms173009.aspx
The following link discusses setting up the necessary dependencies and prerequisites for SQL Server Compact. (Note, you will need to scroll to the section entitled Private File–Based Deployment.)
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa983326(v=VS.100).aspx
A ClickOnce Deployment can help you publish your application attach compact SQL database into client machine.

Missing "Windows Service - SQL Server Analysis Services"
Hi
In my SharePoint 2013 Central Administration (this is a Project Server 2013 deployment), I got an alert for this error:
PowerPivot: MidTier process account should have 'Full Read' permission on all associated SPWebApplications.
After reading
this thread, I assumed I have the 2 accounts configured the wrong way, so I check
this article to see how to change the accounts, but on the section
"Change the account under which each service runs" it says to select
"Windows Service - SQL Server Analysis Services", which I can't find like as you can see in the screenshot below. How can I solve this? I'm new to this all, so if you could simplify the explanation I would be thankful, if not, I'll
just work on it anyway. :) Thanks!Hi ,
In the process of configuring PowerPivot for SharePoint 2010, automatically select the Analysis Services for SharePoint Integration feature. After configuring PowerPivot for SharePoint 2010, we can see
SQL Server Analysis Services and SQL Server PowerPivot System Service are started on manage services on server. So you can verify whether analysis service is installed for SharePoint on manage
services on server.
More information, please refer to the links:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/855bd055-5ad3-493f-9c5b-1f5297b2e6e2(v=sql.110)
As Trevor said, for this issue, you can ignore it. Anyway, you can also check the link:

I hope this helps.
