Configuration and settings for JDeveloper

Hi,
What do I have to do to run jsp file in JDeveloper 10g?
I did some JDeveloper tutorials (e.g. "Deploying a Web Application to Oracle Application Server 10g" and "Introduction to JavaServer Faces using JDeveloper"), but when I tried to run a jsp file (url: "http://172.25.10.199:8988/JSFIntro-view-context-root/faces/welcome.jsp") I got the message "Error 400 - Unable to connect to remote host or host not responding.".
I have extracted the JDeveloper files (version 10.1.3) in C:\Program Files\Oracle\JDev10-1-3.
I have installed Java JDK 1.5 in C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_06 and Java JRE in C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06.
I have installed Tomcat (version 5.5.15) in C:\Program Files\Apache-Software-Foundation. Do I even need Tomcat?
I have set the system variables for Tomcat: CATALINA_HOME and JAVA_HOME. Which variables else do I have to set?
I have started the Tomcat service and OC4J. Do I have to start other services or programs?
Do I have to set a path anywhere?
Do I have to change the preferences or project properties in JDeveloper?
What else do I have to do?

to me the message
"http://172.25.10.199:8988/JSFIntro-view-context-root/faces/welcome.jsp") I got the message "Error 400 - Unable to connect to remote host or host not responding.".
says that the host is not accessible. If you ping this IP address, do you get a response? Note that if you run the URL from JDeveloper, the embedded OC4J starts up. if you try to access this URL without starting the embedded OC4J then this access will fail if OC4J isn't up and running
If you deploy to stand alone OC4J or Application Server (you don't say this) then make sure the server is accessible from the IP address

SLD is configured using SMSY transaction. You can use SMSY transaction and there you can see what are all the systems that have been added to the Solution Manager System Landscape.
Different nodes are available for products, systems, logical components in the system landscape.

Workflow and settings for best quality .png export

I need to export a vector image to a .png for use on Retina display devices. What is the workflow and settings for exporting that results in the best possible quality .png image?

The workflow I used to produce the previously posted image on a WIndows 7 PC:
File>Export>Set "Save As" type to PNG
Upon pressing the "Save" button a PNG Options window will appear.
Resolution: Screen (72 ppi)
Anti-Aliasing: Type Optimized (Hinting)
I contacted Adobe support and they told me that the only way to export .png is via "Export" or "Save For Web".
"Save For Web" is designed to compress and I wanted to avoid that to ensure retina display quality.
I chose 72 ppi instead of a higher setting (support suggested I use 300 ppi) because Apple retina displays do not recognize ppi above 72.
The Anti-Aliasing setting was my default and I read somewhere that this was the best for getting crisp edges on retina displays (Sorry, I cant recall the source)
My concerns are that the export and anti-aliasing make larger files and I'm not convinced they are noticably better quality than "Save For Web".
Also, it's worth noting that the support was clearly reading from a reference guide. It was not a "real" expert that could explain the best workflow.

Configure proxy settings for WebEngine

I had no luck in finding any docs about how to configure the proxy server for a WebView/WebEngine.
I assume the system properties "http.proxyHost" and "http.proxyPort" are used if they are set, is this correct?
Is there also a way to configure the proxy settings for each WebEngine instance?

I am also getting this "error". The printer (8500 A910) connected to the web well enough that it went out and supposedly downloaded a new update, but then it was supposed to print a page showing the email address, but did not.
So I go in and try to set up the eprint, and it tells me it cannot connect to the sever and I'll need to enter a proxy address and port number. But my ISP's cable modems do NOT have any static IP address nor do they provide any sort of proxy service. Everything works just fine with "automatic discovery" (DHCP) for every computer in the house. No problems there.
So, since that's the case, of course I cannot look up some proxy address and port number in my web browser because they're all set up for "automatically detect settings".
What's baffling is that the printer connected to something at HP to download the "update", and it went through a process that appeared to be what I'd expect it to do if it was updating its firmware. But it won't connect to whatever it's supposed to connect to to have an email address assigned.
Does HP supply a proxy server? If so, what's its IP address or URL, and what port should a person set the printer to try to use?
UPDATE:
It appears that the HP site must have just been "down" for about six or seven hours while I was trying to get the printer to connect because it now connected and I got an email address asigned without needing to have any "proxy" stuff set up at all. It's a shame that the printer does not simply report "HP Site down - try again later" instead of reporting that you need to use a proxy when that's impossible.
"Now, on to the next problem which is that my emails to the assigned address are all bouncing with a "550 5.7.1 Command rejected" error!

After upgrading to iOS 7, SIRI no longer works and settings for SIRI are missing

I upgraded an iPad 2 to iOS 7 and since then SIRI no longer works when pressing the HOME button. The settings for SIRI has also disappeared in the GENERAL settings. I have searched and found no posts with this issue!

Help to Configure Connection Pool For Jdeveloper

I need help to configure Connection pool. By default it is taking a datasource.xml not the one i had defined. Pls help me out. Affecting the performance due to so many hit to db.

Image quality and settings for professional portfolio created on indesign

I'm putting a portfolio together of project work I have done throughout my degree for applying for jobs. I am very familiar with p/s and illustrator but indesign is slightly new to me.
What is the best ppi setting to use for my images? They will probably be viewed on a monitor but also be printed by me to put into a physical portfolio.
When exporting as a pdf what are the best settings?

I was wondering whether MP3s or WAVs would be better to avoid syncing issues. Also, what audio stream settings would be best?
I was also wondering if you can manually play the audio track by moving the play head over it. I've tried multiple times with multiple settings to no avail.

mp3 is better - it's more compressed for a given sound quality.
for beginners, it's easiest to attach the sound to your timeline and in the properties panel assign sync to stream, not event.

My IPAD 1 got frozen during resetting all content and settings for 5hrs.

No it should not take that long. You probably need to restore your iPad by using recovery mode now. Read this.
iPad: Unable to update or restore
This is how the process goes.
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPad, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off iPad: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for iPad to turn off.
If you cannot turn off iPad using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the iPad turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to iPad. When you reconnect the USB cable, iPad should power on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the recovery mode alert that iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode.
Use iTunes to restore iPad.
