Configurator - Removing Unused Redemption Codes

I bought 22 copies of an App and altered the Excel spreadsheet to load 10 of the codes into Configurator with the other 12 copies going directly to teachers.
Now however I realised I only needed to load 9 codes into Configurator.
Is there any way to remove one of the codes from Configurator?  It hasn't been redeemed at all yet.
Thanks,
Dustin

I've never tried this but I found this below on another forum. It sounds promising.
In order to remove the codes completely you would pretty much have to dump the database which means all of the devices you supervised would be deleted and essentially need to be restored back to factory to remove the now invalid Supervision Profile. The database is in ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.configurator . It will be quite large depending on the number of apps you have imported and other data as well. Mine for instance is nearly 18gb and we have a catalog of about 350ish apps.
Basically it sounds like the only way to get your codes back is to wipe your Apple Configurator data file. Apple never makes anything easy!

  • How to remove unused response codes

    Hi all,
I have few unused response codes and tasks which i want to delete but OIM doesnt allow me to do so. it throws me "The response is used by one or more tasks". I need to change few of the response code and delete unused ones. Any suggestions...
    thanks in advance,

    Hi,
When I want to delete a response code for a task that already was instanciated, I run the SQL below. You have to delete the instances created in the OSI table. When you try to delete a response code, OIM runs the query below to see if the response can be deleted:
select count(*) as counter from osi where rsc_key=1895
Please, before trying to perform the query below, backups.
    DELETE FROM
    osi
    WHERE
    rsc_key in (
    SELECT
    rsc.rsc_key
    FROM
    pkg, tos, mil, rsc
    WHERE
pkg.pkg_name = '[your process name]' AND
    tos.PKG_KEY = pkg.PKG_KEY AND
    mil.TOS_KEY = tos.TOS_KEY AND
mil.mil_name = '[the process task name]' AND
    rsc.MIL_KEY = mil.MIL_KEY AND
rsc.RSC_DATA = '[the task response code you want to delete]'
PKG - Consists of names and system keys of service processes, which consist of a group ofservices from the TOS table. Defines a Process in Xellerate.
TOS - Holds information about a process
MIL - Holds information about tasks of a process

OSI - Holds information about tasks that are created for an instanciated process

  • Can you reuse a redemption code installed on a supervised device via mdm?

I know that if you use a supervised device and install paid apps with apple configurator via vpp redemption codes, you can recover the redemption codes by removing the apps or unsupervising the device on the same machine in apple configurator.
However, I want to install the apps via MDM (meraki).  If the devices are supervised in Apple Configurator, can I still recover the redemption codes for reuse using configurator (or better yet removing them via MDM)?
Or in short, is there any way to recover vpp redemption codes of apps installed via MDM?

You can always download the app again over the air using the Apple ID and password that redeemed the code. But as far as using the code again, no this is not possible right now.

  • Can I export unused VPP codes from Configurator?

We have "unsupervised" many iPads that had previously had Pages and Keynote loaded (we imported the VPP codes to Configurator)
Can I "remove" the codes from Configurator to distribute them differently? When I sign in to VPP the codes are all "redeemed".

To the best of my knowledge, once you import an Excel spreadsheet of VPP codes into Configurator those codes can only be used on that computer. You can install or remove apps from iPads and reallocate apps on that computer but can't take the codes out of Configurator to use them in another instance of Configurator or in an MDM for redistribution.
The exception would be if you wanted to migrate from redemption codes to managed distribution in which case unredeemed codes or codes redeemed through Apple Configurator could be changed to managed distribution licenses. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6015 for details on this process.
    Hope this helps!

  • Moving VPP Redemption Codes without Apple Configurator

I work in a large Secondary School in the UK. We've just rolled out the first batch of what will be over a thousand iPads that are planned to get us to a 1:1 device scheme and I come up against a major issue.
It would appear that the VPP redemption codes can only be removed from a device if using the Apple Configurator.
Please correct me if I'm wrong but: The Apple Configurator can deal with 30 iOS devices synced through a USB connection.
In our situation we are looking to be able to manage over a thousand of these devices so as a student moves between year groups we are able to provided the paid apps required for that year. At the moment it looks like we are going to have to purchase a fresh copy of each paid for app or collect in each iPad sync it to the right computer.
Currently we are pushing settings and apps using the Meraki MDM solution but it's my understanding that none of the MDM solutions are able to offer this facility. Am I right or am I barking up the wrong tree?
Any assistance with this would be greatfully recieved

You are correct in that VPP codes can only be recovered from a Supervised device using the provisioning computer running Apple Configurator that initially installed the app on the iPad.
Apple Configurator can only *simultaneously* sync 30 iOS devices, however it can manage hundreds or thousands of devices if you wanted it to. Some schools will have a single Mac running Apple Configurator to manage all of their iPads in the entire school.
If you have a single computer running Apple Configurator and need to recover the VPP codes at the end of each year, you could Supervise all of the iPads with that one computer at the beginning of the year and install all of the apps. Then at the end of the year, you could have the students drop off their iPads so that you could remove and recover those VPP codes back into Configurator.
When you make an app available to an iPad with Meraki (or other MDM), the end user will be prompted to enter an Apple ID and password. If you are using a VPP code for a paid app, the app ownership will go to the Apple ID that redeems it. Once that VPP code has been redeemed by an Apple ID, it cannot be recovered.
For more on app ownership and deployment models, check out the iOS 6 Education Deployment Guide:

    Hope this helps!

  • HT5188 I am using Apple Configurator and would like to put iMovie on our 30 iPads--need redemption codes?

I am finally sucessfully using Apple Configurator. Our teachers would like to have iMovie on the iPads In order to use Apple Configurator I need to have redemption codes.  I am at a loss as to how to get these codes.  Any suggestions.

You would be wanting VPP codes (volume purchasing plan). Here is where you want to go: http://www.apple.com/education/it/vpp/
Enroll and setup which app or apps you want. After purchasing, apple will send you a vpp spreadsheet that you import into configurator. The guide at the site listed above will help.

  • Does Flex Builder remove unused code?

Hi, I have alot of dead code in app that is resulting in an unnecessarily large SWF. Is there a way to make the flex compiler remove unused functions?

Although tedious, drkstr_1 has the plan of action. Generally you should need to clean up orphaned code and remove all trace statements. I often see the tracing statements of other Flash Player products when doing development and some are quite revealing if not embarrasing.
Also "unnecessarily large swf" begs the question what is large? If in Flash IDE did you run the bandwidth report to see exactly what makes it "unnecessarily large swf". You see this option in the publish settings.
Typically code is not going to make a "unnecessarily large swf" but rather digital assets embedded and fonts embedded. Code could make it "unnecessarily large swf" if there are lots of libraries you are using and you are only using some tiny part of the library which you could refactor or find a snippet on the net.
Last "unnecessarily large swf" in relation to what bandwidth? Do you have a targeted minimum bandwidth to make the assessment "unnecessarily large swf"?

  • Will Apple configurator work when Ipads already have paid apps on them via VPP redemption code

HI - we have 60 ipads under our care, and until very recently we bought apps using the VPP redemption code method, and loaded them on manually - there was something in the Ts&Cs which allowed you to load a code onto one ipad, then as long as you had enough codes, you could auto install apps on multiple ipads using the same apple id.  We have a master backup on the icloud.
We have now got a Mac and I was looking into using Apple Configurator, but I'm not sure how that will work with existing paid apps already on the ipads.  Can anyone give me some pointers?

Wait unti the app is done downloading in your iTunes. Then go back to your VPP account and down load the spreadsheet again and upload into configurator. The process is a pain, but the only way it works for you to get all of your codes into configurator.

We do indeed recommend replacing the osmf.swc from a Flex 4 project if you're going to use OSMF in Flex 4, but you may (will?) run into issues if you attempt to use Flex's VideoPlayer within that project.  Note also that you'll need to replace osmf.swc for each individual project (or edit your flex-config.xml file to point to the updated SWC).
In terms of future plans, we are working closely with the Flex team to ensure that their next release ships with the latest OSMF version.  No ETA on that though.
I have followed the recommendations and removed the old version of swc and replaced it with the release version. And so far the video and audio players work fine without errors.
But looking at the flex-config.xml I see that it still points to the old version.

I downloaded an ebook and a free redemption code but my credit card got changed. How can I have the charge removed?

Did you enter the code when buying the book ? If you did, and you were also charged for it, then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • Apple Configurator: The spreadsheet provided has redemption codes for "(null)."

I'm trying to import a spreadsheet of redemption codes into Apple Configurator. I download the spreadsheet directly from https://vpp.itunes.apple.com, but when I try to import it, I get the following message:
Apple Configurator: The spreadsheet provided has redemption codes for "(null)."
What can I do to import it?

I've got support from Apple Germany. It seems to be a problem of version 1.1.2 of Apple Configurator and Mountain Lion 10.8.2
As mentioned above I had the same problem using 10.7.4 and 10.7.5 and Configurator 1.1.2. Apple Germany sent me a different spreadsheet, where I've put my codes in and it worked. Strange but true.
Other story, I bought 50 redeem codes, after installing 22 iPads it stopped, telling me that there are no more redeem codes left ?
    Good luck contacting Apple directly

  • Apple Configurator: How to delete redemption codes?

I'm using Apple Configurator to manage about 200 iPads. For various staffing reasons, I'm using Apple Config on one Macbook to manage half the devices, and Apple Config on another Macbook to manage the other half.
Everything was working well, but then I inadvertently uploaded some VPP redemption codes to Macbook#2 that had already been redeemed using Macbook#1.
This shouldn't be a problem, as I have the same number of redemption codes as devices. However, Macbook#2 won't simply skip over the redemption codes that are coming back as already redeemed. It just refuses to install the app on the iPads, even though there are several valid redemption codes in the database.
If I could delete the already-redeemed codes from Macbook#2, I think the problem would be resolved, but I'm not sure how to do that. (I don't want to delete ALL the codes, as I used Macbook#2 to set up several iPads successfully before encountering the problem. Also, these iPads are already in use, so it would be a huge pain to pull them back, reclaim the codes and then re-set them up.)
Is there any way to do this, other than messing with the sqlite database (I'm afraid I'll really screw things up if I try that).
    Thanks.

  • Redemption code used to download app is not available in apple configurator to install app

I had to type in a redemption code to download the Kakooma app to our itunes library so we could copy it over to our Apple Configurator.  Now when I have setup all the 26 Ipads through Apple Configurator it is telling me on the 26th Ipad that the redemption code has already been used.  How do I work around this or fix this problem of applying the redemption code that was used to download the app to the Ipad?  Please help.  I have one student who can't practice their math facts on the Ipad.

  • Configurator - "Redemption code already used."

I have about 500 Apple devices that I sync with configurator.  Yesterday we deployed some new apps to about 60 of them.  The problem is that about 5 of the devices get the yellow triangle error sign.  When moused over, this message says "No more redemption codes are available. This code has already been used. Each code may only be used once." The problem is, I have no way to identify which of the 30 or so apps we have on these devices is causing the problem.  I went down the entire list of apps, and none of them show 0 redemption codes available.  Other than that, is there any way to determine which app is causing this error?

    Just got this reply:
My name is xxxx with iTunes Store Support and I'll be assisting you with your request. I understand that your "OS X Up-to-Date" redemption code has been recognized as "already redeemed". I know how unnerving it feels when our content codes aren't able to be used.
Due to a known issue, the content codes associated with the "OS X Up-to-Date" program haven't been valid for use in the Mac App Store.
No worries, yyy. I've submitted a request on your behalf for a replacement content code, and you should be receiving that shortly via email. Please bear in mind that it isn't necessary to submit an additional claim for the "OS X Up-to-Date" program.
They "haven't been valid for use in Mac App Store", but they're "sending another"......

  • Recover redemption codes/Apple configurator could not open your library

    Hi,
I closed Apple Configurator down when a couple of iPads weren't responding and not unsupervising as they were supposed to. When I started it back up it said "Apple Configurator could not open your library. The file couldn't be opened.' I've tried restarting, updating, and searching google for a fix.
I did come across this: Re: Apple Configurator 1.2 "The file couldn't be opened", but when I went to search for ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.configurator, it turned out that the directory doesn't even exist.
I don't have Time Machine enabled on this macbook, and we have a number of redemption codes at risk of being lost here as everything is saved in that configuration.
Alternatively could someone please advise if/how it's possible to use the redemption codes we had purchased again - if we were to start again with a brand new installation of AC?
I would greatly appreciate some support with this issue.
    Many thanks,
    Martin

This has happened to me a few times and in each instance it has been solved by going to the computer and toggling sharing on and off. If this alone doesn't solve your problem try rebooting the computer and then the ATV.
The error message, suggesting that you make sure your computer and ATV are on the same network isn't likely to be helpful, especially if your ATV and computer are both connected via  Ethernet. Most likely your ATV just isn't able to get a share connection from the computer and the above should solve that problem.
