Configure a data source to connect to RAC 10g

Hi,
I am trying to connect to a Oracle RAC 10g and had a question regarding the connection parameter. I do not want the connection to be pinned to a specific RAC instance rather have RAC listener do load balancing when I send the request to the RAC. What should my db url in my connection look like to connect to the RAC (not a specific instance/ node). This also enables my application to be scalable to add more RAC instances without having to change the db url in my code.
Thanks,
Suchin

  • Changing Data source in connection pools

    hi all,
When the primary data source goes down or is unresponsive, we have to often point our repository connection pool to a backup data source. As this is production environment, we would like to do this without bringing the services down.
I usually make sure that there are no requests running by going to Manage Sessions and clicking on 'close all cursors' and 'Cancel all running requests'. Are there any other implications of not restarting the services while changing the data source connections? Do the connection pools are kept open to the old data source?
We use Oracle 10G as a database, but I have also done this with DB2 database.
    Thanks in Advance

    Turribeach said it correct.
But if you are handling the failover manually for now until you figure out the RAC setup, it is better you kill all the user session through the admin tool . AdminTool -> Manage -> Sessions
Otherwise the users already connected will keep getting errors until they choose to relogin or choose to "Reload Server Metadata" in the answers, which they would probably not even know. So it is better to kill their session forcing them to relogin. But the transition will not be seamless if they in the process of firing a query.

  • How to configure Essbase data source in OBIEE11g on Unix system?

    Hi,
I am looking for documentation/link for how to configure Essbase data source in OBIEE 11g on UNIX system.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Fayaz
First You need "BI Administrator Client Tool" cause you need to make changes with in RPD (repository) BUT "BI Administrator Client Tool" for Unix is not Available.
So you have download OBIEE 11.1.1.5 ""BI Administrator Client Tool" and Install it on Windows Platform.
Now regarding your Original Issue I am also looking for this Info.

  • Using different data source and connection name

    Hi,
We have a requirement where the data source for our application is already configured on the server by name like MyDBDataSource. But the database connection name in our application is like My_DB. So application module is using data source name like My_DBDS. If i change data source name in application module configuration manually to be MyDBDataSource, then it fails at runtime. This has been identified as bug as mentioned in this post
    http://andrejusb.blogspot.in/2009/01/practical-adf-security-deployment-on.html
Is this still valid? I am using 11.1.1.6 version. Also want to know if there is any workaround for this ? If i change the name in web.xml at deployment time using script, will it work ?
    Thanks

    Hi Ami,
Is your issue get solved ?
I would like to mention few things about the database connection in application & data source in Weblogic.
    1. When you create a database connection in Application (for example say connection name as hr) then in the Application Module Database Configurations in the bc4j.xcfg File Custom JDBCDataSource will be set as <Custom JDBCDataSource="java:comp/env/jdbc/hrDS"/> for both ApplnModule shared & Local. So when you create data source in weblogic it is better to create the JNDI Name like jdbc/hrDS ( ie between the '/' and 'DS' you have to specify the name of database connection you created in the application ).What ever the Data source name is no matter.
2.If you change the JNDI name of data source later like jdbc/hrconnectionDS then it is better to delete the old hr connection from application and recreate a connection as hrconnection. After that you have to edit bc4j.xcfg file in the Application Module--> Configurations and set Custom JDBCDataSource as below for both local & shared config.
    <Custom JDBCDataSource="java:comp/env/jdbc/hrconnectionDS"/>
I hope this will help you.
    Gijith.

  • Setting up an ODBC data source to connect to BerkleyDB

How can I set up an ODBC data source (DSN) to connect to BerkleyDB. I installed Berkeley DB 11gR2 (11.2.5.0.21) on Windows XP 32-bit and I can see the sqlite3odbc.dll in the installation bin folder but there seems to be no BerkleyDB ODBC driver listed in Windows ODBC Adminstrator app

    Hi,
I'm afraid that we don't ship an installer with our initial release. It is possible to install manually, but it requires making some changes to the source code, building the ODBC driver and installing manually.
    The steps are as follows:
<li>Edit the file db-5.0.21/sql/odbc/sqlite3odbc.c at line 15919 change "drivername" and "dsname" variables to contain the driver strings you would like to use.
<li>Follow the instructions to build the dll in the install guide here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/berkeley-db/db/installation/build_win_sql.html#id3371140. NOTE: You only want to follow the build steps here, not the configure or install steps.
<li> Once you have built the sqlite3odbc.dll file, you'll need to follow the manual install steps defined in the README here: http://www.ch-werner.de/sqliteodbc/README . Search for the section titled Win32 install/remove/shell by RUNDLL32
I hope this helps, let me know if you need further information.

  • Mapping Data Source and Connection Pools

Is it possible to Map a Data Dource with Multiple connection pools in Weblogic ? If Yes how do we do that ?

Which version of WLS are you using. With version 10.0 you could use a multi data source.

  • Impossible to configure multiple data sources for EJB's in a single project

    Hello everyone,
I have jDev 10.1.3 installed and I'm doing some research on EJB 3.0. In the jDev help files, it is mentioned that a project can contain only one EJB module. Correct me if I'm wrong but to me, this means that there is only one data source configured for a module/project.
But what if I need 2 EJB's linked to 2 different data source in my project? Is the only solution available is to create 2 different project and add one ejb to a project and the other ejb to the second project and then add the second project as a project dependency to the first project?
    Thank you for your help
    Alex

Multiple Datasources may be injected into a EJB 3.0 entity bean POJO with resource injection.

  • Creating a Coldfusion Data Source that connects to a DB on a different server

Your assistance is appreciated.  I am attempting to create a data source on server #1 that is to connect to a database residing on Server #2.  Thus far, each attempt made results in an error that the database "is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data."  Be advised that I am experienced in working with data sources when the database resides on the same server.

There is no problem creating a datasource on server 1 that references a database on server 2.  But you will have to check the permissions on server 2 to make sure server 1 can connect. I suppose the error message is telling you as much.

  • Cannot get ODBC Data Source to connect on report server

    Hi,
I have an ODBC Connection installed on our PROD server that when you test through I-SQL and the ODBC Administrator it works.
When I add a new data source to the reporting server we interface and press test connection it just hangs for ages then gives a page cannot be displayed.
I have installed all the same on the DEV server and it works fine.  I have set all of the configs to exactly the same!
I feel like something to do with reporting services is not correct.  Any one have any ideas?
    Thanks.

    Hi KMoff,
Per my understanding that you are using the ODBC datasource type and when you have set the connection string and click the "Test Connection" it hangs and got some error, right?
Please find the details steps below and try to provide more information according to the questions:
Whether the error message you got is "page cannot be displayed", if not, please try to provide more details inforamtion.
Did you got the error message when you click on the "Test Connection" from designer or report manager.
If you got the issue only in the report manager, the issue can be caused by the support of the ODBC driver in the report manager and also the bit.
Standard .NET Framework data providers do not necessarily support all the functionality supplied by Reporting Services data processing extensions. In addition, some OLE DB data providers and ODBC drivers can be used to author and preview reports, but are not
designed to support reports published on a report server. See
Data Sources Supported by Reporting Services (SSRS)
When you deploy a report to a 64-bit report server (x86), the report server must have natively compiled 64-bit data providers installed. Wrapping a 32-bit data provider in 64-bit interfaces is not supported.
Could you provide more details information about the connection string you are currently using.(Excel files or something else)

  • GRC AC 10 CUA Configuration for Data Sources

When using CUA as the search data source in GRC AC 10.0 the search is not working. If I change the data source to my ECC system it works fine. Also trying to use CUA as the first sequence in the Details sources, but it does not work either. Also noticed that the details sources only seems to recognize one sequence when multiple sequences are setup. Has anyone come across this as a problem?

    Hi all,
I agree with Patrick, I received the answer from SAP, that once a user is found in a detail data source, GRC will take all data from this data source and not continue looking in the following details systems.
Eg. USER1 is existing in CUA and HR, it will find the user in the CUA system, take email, phone no etc from CUA but will not continue looking for e.g. the missing personnel no data in HR.
USER2 is existing in HR only but not in CUA - GRC will take the detail data from HR only.
    Did you try these scenarios?
    Regards
    Daniela
