Configure-EnterprisePartnerApplication.ps1 401 Unauthorized
I'm setting up a partnership between Exchange 2013 and SharePoint 2013. All previous steps are complete without error until I get to Configure-EnterprisePartnerApplication.ps1. It runs all of the steps, creates the user and adds to groups but then errors
with a 401 Unauthorized. I'm using "Configure-EnterprisePartnerApplication.ps1 -AuthMetaDataUrl
http://sharepoint/_layouts/15/metadata/json/1 -ApplicationType SharePoint"
Here are the logs that appear to pertain to the event.

Configuring Reporting Service Add-in for sharepoint - HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.
I have the following setup
Machine 1
WSS 3.0
Installed Reporting Service Add-in
Machine 2
Reporting Service
Sharepoint Object Model
SQL Server
Sharepoint and Report Server DB
I have congigured Reporting Service for Sharepoint Integrated Mode adn Created new Reprot Server DB
Sahre Point Integration is Green and verified link
In Sharepoint Central Administration
Manage Reporting Service Integratio i have selected the URL and "Trusted Account" as my web applications use "Windows Integration - NTLM".
All services, DB access everything running under one domain user account.
I am logged into sharepoint with same account. When clieck on set server defaults i get following error
An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode. --> Server was unable to process request. ---> The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.
Same error when i try to add a report to a sharepoint webapplication
The domain account is part of "Farm Administration", "site colletion administrato" and local administrator also on both servers.
Can someone let me know how to fix this.jpmartop,
were you able to get this to work?
We have a 4 server topolgy.
moss
wfe
sql
ssrs
and are using Kerberos.
I've installed the wfe on the ssrs and am using a domain user for services, web and pools.
I get all green dots in the ssrs config.
in Central Admin, Grant access seems to work with the domain user, but set defaults gives me:
HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.
What should my web security on the default web site and reports and reports server look like? Integrated Security
Should the SSRS WFE entry in MOSS have Web application service turned on?
I've checked that my SPNs are good.I've installed sql server sp2 and a did windows update on all servers..
Could it be the user I log into the Central Admin with.. it's got server administrator and Farm administrator?

I've done quite a lot of searching on this. The defacto answer is disable loopback processing. That does not solve the issue. All virtual directory permissions have been checked and are the recommended MSFT settings. All NTFS permissions
have been checked and are set correctly. I'm out of ideas for what to check next. Thank you for your help.

I have run across this solution is my previous troubleshooting and it did not resolve the issue. I walked through the process one more time now to be sure it is not the proper resolution for this case. After setting the local and rebooting the
server the same error persists. Additionally checking the box to not require Kerberos pre-authentication has not helped.
When trying to manually reset the password for the extest account I receive the following error:

Adobe Print Form Error - Invalid Response Code: (401) Unauthorized
Hi, I've just configured ADS on Netweaver 2004s. I've run through the config guide and everything works ok including the form generation test report FP_TEST_00 which outputs PDF without issue. I have two problems:
-When I run a "test connection" on the RFC destination 'ADS' using the ADSUSER for the login details, I get a 403 not authorized error. Changing this user to J2EE_ADMIN resolves the issue and I get a 302 redirect. I've tried adding other permissions to the ADSUSER without any luck.
-Running a report on the Portal under e.g. Executive Reporting and attempting to just right-click and hit "Print Version" results in a 401 error for request "http://hostXX:portXX/AdobeDocumentServices/Config?style=document" exactly as per this thread: Re: Adobe Form Creation Error - Invalid Response Code: (401) Unauthorized. However, I've double-checked all user details in Visual Administrator (ADS_AGENT) and on the ABAP stack side in su01 and sm59. I also tried changing the users to dialog with no effect. If I go directly to that URL and log in with ADSUSER I get a 403 not authorised error (using J2EE_ADMIN is again successful). I've noticed that in the http access log the HTTP protocol used is 1.1 when using the web browser and 1.0 when using the sm59 connection test. I've heard of problems with using HTTP/1.1, but when I change the options on IE8 to use HTTP/1.0, it changes for all other requests except the request for "http://hostXX:portXX/AdobeDocumentServices/Config?style=document", which is still submitted as HTTP/1.1. Conversely, in sm59 if I specify that it should use HTTP/1.1 under Special Options, I can see from the access log that it is in fact still using HTTP/1.0. Could this be related to the 401 error code that I'm seeing?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
JohnI think I've ruled out the HTTP protocol version as being an issue here. However I may have found more useful information on the actual issue.
In the security log under usr\sap\<SID>\DVEBMGS00\j2ee\cluster\server0\log\system I see a different message for the unsuccessful report PDF generation attempt to that of a direct query to the same URL with the same web browser, as below. The unsuccessful attempt appears to forget the ADSUSER credentials and resort to the default J2EE_GUEST which has no authorisations and therefore fails. The direct query doesn't lose the ADSUSER credentials and I think this is because it prompts for the user/password when needed. Does anyone know why this happens for a direct query to this URL but not for the PDF generation attempt?
Resulting logs from unsuccessful PDF generation attempt:

SSRS report with PowerPivot datasource - 401 Unauthorized
Hello together,
I have a tricky issue and hope that you can help me:
Problem: I want to build a Reporting Services Report with a PowerPivot datasource with Report Builder 3.0. When I try to access the datasource via Report Builder I get the error: The remote server returned an error: 401 - Unauthorized.
The PowerPivot file lies on a Sharepoint 2013 with Kerberos authentification.
Logs: Here are some sample log entries after getting the error:
Token Cache: Could not find SPSite for 'sharepoint.com/_vti_bin/PowerPivot/secureredirector.svc/?DataSource=sample.xlsx'.
Exception trying get context compatibility level: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: The site sharepoint.com/_vti_bin/PowerPivot/secureredirector.svc/?DataSource=sample.xlsx could not be found in the Web application SPWebApplication Name=sharepoint.com.
Non-OAuth request. IsAuthenticated=True, UserIdentityName=0#.w|user, ClaimsCount=118
Notes: I tried some solutions from the internet, where the web.config from PowerPivot has to be changed. Also I saw that it could be Kerberos related, but no detailed information where to start as the other features are working fine. SPNs
and Delegations are configured. And changing to NTLM is not an option as this is a multi-server platform.
I hope that you have another idea, where the problem could be.
Kind regards,
RobinHas noone an idea?

401: Unauthorized when creating report data source in sharepoint 2010
Hi All,
I am getting 401: Unauthorized error when trying to create a report datasource in sharepoint 2010. Same login is able create to datasource in one system,, but only with one system it causing this issue.
Is it system or browser issue ? Please let me know.
Soumya DasHello Soumya Das,
Sounds like a system issue, can you check your ULS logs if you see some more information on the HTTP 401 Unauthorized?
Btw, have you also checked the Reporting Services configuration. Maybe this article can help:

401 Unauthorized error when calling a webservice

401 Unauthorized Error When calling a SharePoint REST web service from SharePoint 2013 Workflow
We have our Workflow Manger installed on the same server as our SharePoint 2013 WFE development environment. When creating a SharePoint 2013 Workflow all Calls to a SharePoint 2013 REST web service results in a 401 Unauthorized error.
As an example I created a simple workflow that should return a JSON result. The REST Url returns the results in the browser without error.
Set Variable:webServiceUrl to https://<hostnamedsitecollection>/_vti_bin/client.svc/web/lists/getbytitle('ISR%20Approvers')/Items?$select=Title&$filter=Title%20eq%20%27General%27
then Build{...} Dictionary (Output to Variable:requestHeaders)
then Call [%Variable:webServiceUrl%] HTTP web service with request (ResponseContent to Variable:responseContent |ResponseHeaders to responseHeaders | ResponseStatusCode to Variable:responseCode)
The RequestHeader is set to the requestHeaders variable though the web service call properties
then Log Variable:responseCode to the workflow history list
After manually running the workflow in SharePoint on a list item in the ISR Approvers list it Logs "Unauthorized" in the Workflow History Log. It does this with every SharePoint REST web service call that I have tried through the workflow.
It doesn't have anything to do with the Workflow Manger being installed on the same machine as the SharePoint WFE does it?
Thank You for any insightHi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you had 401 Unauthorized Error when calling a SharePoint REST web service from SharePoint 2013 Workflow.
Please make sure you use the ‘Call HTTP Web Service’ correctly.
You can enter the URL into the brower to check whether it is correctly.
You need to
create the Request header requestHeaders
using a Dictionary:
Accept : application/json;odata=verbose
Content-Type : application/json;odata=verbose
To associate the
requestHeaders variable, select the Call action
property, set the RequestHeaders property to
requestHeaders.
Please refer to the following articles:

Workflow
In addtion, you need to make sure you install the workflow manager correctly.

But I skipped the part in configuring my J2EE Visual Admin tool since I don't have access to our Visual Admin. Does it have to do with my access? BTW, I don't have access in our WS Navigator also.
Thanks.I can't speak for MOSS for sure, but other Microsoft services such as MapPoint used to require Digest Authentication, which isn't quite as pervasive as Basic Authentication. You should doublecheck with the MOSS administrator about the proper credentials and access. You might even try a utility like SoapUI to see if things work from a test client before trying it on the application server.

We have a hosted SSRS server and we access it's reports using the reportviewer in an ASP.net application.
We are getting the error: The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized. When trying to run one of the reports. I have confirmed that the login details work when logging into the report manager page directly.
I have implemented an instance of IReportServerCredentials in a separate class (below) and I call it from the page before it tries to access the report. I'm not sure if this is all I need but can't seem to find any other info.
I have managed to gain access connecting to the external server from my PC and accessed the report, but when I promote the code to production and run it from there on my local PC I get the unauthorized message again: the request failed with http status

We have tried so many things here, we don't even care whether the server authenticates or not but it appears to be as standard. Our hosting company has also drawn a blank and changed so many settings to no avaHi Nasa1999,
According to your description, you are getting the error: The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized when you access the report using the ReportViewer in an ASP.net application.
Regarding the 401 error, it could cause by the Service Principal Name(SPN) for the account the Reporting Services is running under hasn’t been registered when the Reporting Services is configured to use Kerberos authentication. So in your scenario,
please check if you are using Kerberos authentication. If that is a case, please make sure SPN is configured correctly. For more information, please refer to the similar thread:
The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized. in SSRS.
If issue persists, please check the Reporting Service error log (default location: %programfiles%\Microsoft SQL Server\<SQL Server Instance>\Reporting Services\LogFiles) around the time that the error message thrown out.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

"The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized"
Hi,
I'm trying to get both RSS feeds and SSRS reports on a web application which is having NTLM authentication without Kerberos. The catch is proxy setting, if I give <proxy autoDetect="false" /> in web.config of my sharepoint web
application SSRS reports will be rendered in SQL Server Report viewer perfectly (I deploy using BIDS), but RSS viewer webpart will not display my internet feeds. If I give
<proxy autoDetect="true" /> RSS feeds are displayed properly but SSRS report will throw the following error.

I tried to work around this by adding proxy settings with bypass list.
<system.net>
<defaultProxy useDefaultCredentials="true">
<proxy proxyaddress="http://<proxy IP address>:<port>" bypassonlocal="true" usesystemdefault="true" />
<bypasslist>
<add address="<my report server>" />
<add address="http://<report server>:8080/reportserver/" />
<add address="<IP of my report server>" />
</bypasslist>
</defaultProxy>
</system.net>
This makes RSS feed to work but SSRS throw the above error. I would need some advice from Microsoft on how to fix this.
Note: My sharepoint site cannot be anonymous. I have just once service account that runs sql server service, report service, sharepoint services etc. This account is local admin on all servers, has highest access on sql box, run SSRS web service and app
pools, etc.
I have four servers, 2 WFE in windows load balanced, 1 app server (running Central admin and report service in sharepoint integrated mode), 1 db server hosting all content and config dbs and report server db.

Manoj

Thanks to share your post.
For the issue,
do you mean that the error happen with the use of NTLM authentication without Kerberos? If yes, the possible cause should be the lacking of Kerberos.
My suggestion is to implement the Kerberos authentication in your environment. You may check it and test it. For the detailed steps of implementing of the Kerberos:

Response Code: (401) Unauthorized
While testing the demoszenario "Service-Enabled Procurement Scenario" from the SAP discovery system the following error arises:
Error: RemoteException: Service call exception; nested exception is:
com.sap.engine.services.webservices.jaxrpc.exceptions.InvalidResponseCodeException: Invalid Response Code: (401) Unauthorized. The requested URL was:http://iwdfvm2160:51080/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?channel=:WebService:SO_WS_SOAP_SENDER
The error appears in the first step when a salesorder should be created via a soap-adapter from an adobe offline form.
The portal user = proc_sales
Is there anybody who can answer the following questions?
1. Is there any configuration necessary to make the scenario running?
If yes, where is the documentation?
2. which user is authorized to call the webservice for creating the sales order and where has this user to be configured?
Thanks for a soon answer.
Regards MarliesI found the solution on my own. Here it is
Goto VisualAdmin:
Select Cluster/Services/Destinations
Select Webservice
Select sap.com/XApps_XI_SO_WS_Proxy/com.sap.esadiscovery.so.wsproxy.XApps_XI_SO_WS_ProxyName/ESA_MI_SO_CREATE_WS_INPort
Change the Hostname in the following Custom URL to the right hostname: http://iwdfvm1127.wdf.sap.corp:51080/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?channel=:WebService:GM_WS_SOAP_SENDER
In our case the correct hostname is iwdfvm2160.
Further set the authentication to basic and fill username with PIAPPLUSER and Password with the approriate password -
401 Unauthorized in SOAP Sender Adapter
We are using a Sales Orer Injection Scenario in which we are receiving the Sales Order in the form of Web Service created in SAP PI.
When the clients .NET application is trying to access the web service it is throwing 401 Unauthorized (Error: Unauthorized). We are able to access using the same user name and password over the internet.
Lagacy System (SOAP Adapter) -> SAP PI 7.11 -> (Proxy) ECC
I hve already tested follwoing configuration setting:
1. User trying t access XI is having SAP_XI_APPL_SERV_USER role.
2. None of the users are locked
3. Transaction SICF -> default_host -> sap -> xi (user name and password is maintained of the user who is trying to access XI.

thanks a lotWhen we DISPLAY WSDL in sender agreement, it gives you a URL.
http://xxxpidev:port/dir/wsdl?p=sa/55f89abe825b39c8913db688f608e9f9
Just for the clarification, is this is the URL which we share with client who wants to use our web service?
When we use this URL in IE it shows the whole of WSDL.
OR
We share the URL which is generated automatically and been coded as location in our WSDL file.
<soap:address xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/soap/" location="http://xxxpidev:port/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?senderParty=&senderService=BS_ABC_XY_Dev&receiverParty=&receiverService=&interface=SI_IA_SalesOrder_Out&interfaceNamespace=http%3A%2F%2FINDIA%2FAB%2FSO" />
In the second URL when we use it in IE it shows message as:
Message Servlet is in Status OK
Query is which URL client will use to access our Web Service?
As per my understanding it is the second one but client say that when he uses the second url in their .net application it throws error of wrong URL.
Please help me understanding the issue.

Call Adapter Error - 401 Unauthorized
Hi,
We are using Multi Mapping where it splits 1 message into n messages. The n messages split by this scenario in trun calls another scenario configured in the same PI server using SOAP Adapter.
The called scenario is SOAP --> Siebel using iWay Adapter.
When the number of messages split are huge in order of thousands, the server is going for a toss and the called scenaio is failing at Call Adapter Step in IE with HTTP Error 401 Unauthorized. Few of the messages manage to pass successfully.
Anticipating your valuable inputs.
Thanks.
Regards,
Sudharshan N AHi Sudharshan,
There can be different reasons for getting HTTP 401: Unauthorized error. As you said, few of the messages are being passed to the called application, I would request you to check the scalability of the Seibel Server.
Also if you are using a connections from a connection pool, then it may be that the pool itself is getting exhausted, though mostly we get Socket exception/Connection Exception/IO Errors in these cases.
The other reasons can be that the user you are using to connect Seibel dont have enough permissions. But it is ruled out as you said some messages have been processed.
If the Seibel server is SSL enabled, and your PI doesn't have any certificate configured, then also you may get such errors.

Sugata
