Configure HTML editor Minimal

The HTML Editor Standard takes up a large space for a text field. I need only the "Insert Special Character" for many text fields on a form in the event the text needs diacritical marks. Is it possible to configure the "HTML Editor Minimal' to add the ""Insert Special Character" or is it possible to just use "Insert Special Character" alone with nothing else?

Hallo,
This is exactly what I need. Did you ever find a soltion for this?
Thx, Willi

I have form items declared as html editor minimal on clob columns. When I copy & paste the text from word document into the form or type in the text, my session froze up. I have to kill it to get out. Does anyone have the same problem with html editor minimal? How can it be fixed?

• HTML Editor Minimal sporadically appearing

Hi,
Perhaps an easy problem to fix: I have three separate CLOB fields in one table and my Apex
form has three "HTML Editor Minimal" textareas for each respective field.
When I run the page, the position where the rectangular box ought to be (including the fancy style
buttons such as Bold, Italic and so forth) sometimes don't appear.
On other ocassions, these shapes appear on the screen but about five or ten seconds behind the
rest of the page.
I've tried waggling the mouse, clicking in the missing gaps, scrolling the screen but to no avail.
Other times, the right minimal editors appear fine and quite quickly. Problems seem to occur both
on Internet Explorer (v8) and Firefox (v3.6).
Any known "funnies" with such editors? Any known gotchas?
Thanks in advance

any ideas are appreciated.

• HTML Editor Minimal item bug

I have item of type "HTML Editor Minimal". I tried to insert a link into the text area box, but it doesn't work in Mozilla. It brings up the pop-up page when I click the "insert link" icon, but it does not fill in lthe text area with link, however the link is inserted in IE. In my applciation, I'm trying to insert multiple links and save them in this text area, when the user edits the page next time I would like these links to be actual url which are clickable in the text area itself instead of cut &paste of the link in the brower address bar. but the saved links in IE are not actual url which are clickable, they are apprearing as text links. any ideas are appreciated.

I see there are HTML editor items, however it doesn't have the bold, font buttons when I create the page?
Below are from the HELP section.
HTML Editor Standard - Provides more editing functionality, such as font, format and color, than HTML Editor Minimal.
Text Area with HTML Editor - Provides basic text formatting controls. Note that these controls may not work in all Web browsers.

• Xml Form Builder HTML Editor

Hi All,
In my xml form builder application, i have to insert an image inside the UI "HTML Editor". But there is no option called as "insert image from km" into the HTML Editor? How can i have that option called "Insert Image From KM" ?
I tried "configuration of the HTML editor" in
Knowledge Management  Content Management  Utilities  Editing  HTML Editing.
I enabled the option "Allow Images". Then too it is not reflecting in HTML Editor UI.
What else can be done for getting that property on HTML Editor UI?
Thanx and Regards,
Divya

Hi,
My understanding is that the standard HTML editor control from SAP is quite limited. You can copy and paste an image into it (but the image has to already be in KM) - it has no nice control for selecting or positioning the image....
Some options:
1. There are options like TinyMCE which I belive can be used in place of the standard HTML editor control.
2. If the structure of the content on you page is fixed then you could add images into the form as images that the user would provide links for - but this is not as free form as you would maybe like.
Hope this helps,
Simon

• HTML Editor and reply to discussion post

Hello,
I am using Discussion Group provided by KM. In a discussion, when I reply to a post, the HTML Editor is opened. In the HTML Editor, not all the functions are available. The Editing functions (display, cut, copy, paste) and some of the Formatting functions are displayed. Other functions such as Inserting Objects (Insert image from KM, Insert link from KM, ...) are NOT available.
Is it possible to make these "missing" functions available ?
Thank you.

Hello Amit,
Thank you for your reply.
The HTML Editor is set correctly. I checked with the KM explorer. When I used the menu New - HTML File..., the HTML Editor is opened with all the functions (including the Inserting Objects and Tables functions) .
Is there any other configuration that I need to check?
Regards.

• HTML Editor in ATG 10.1

Hi,
Can HTML editor (available in BCC) that comes with new ATG version-10.1, configurable to include other HTML tags like, table etc? and how do I do that. If not, do I need edit assets in external editor and then upload in BCC?
Thanks
Leena

I believe you are referring to this large string editor:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24152_01/Platform.10-1/ATGMerchandisingUserGuide/html/s0410workingwithlargestringeditors01.html
By default this editor seem to provide you certain text formatting options only. If you format the text using these then the applied formatting gets saved as HTML tags only (<B>, <U>, <I> etc.) along with your text. I have not tried it but I do think you can definitely use other HTML tags like table. You might want to use an external WYSIWYG editor and then paste its corresponding markup in the BCC editor. And all those HTML tags should get properly rendered also in your application pages where you may need to escape the formatting tag characters while displaying the data. E.g. in JSTL you can do with escapeXml attribute of <c:out> tag as
<c:out value="${product.description}" escapeXml="false" />

• Xml form HTML Editor control change.

Hi,
Is it possible to change External weblink control property of HTML Editor used in xml form builder.?
As of now this control gives 2 options to provide external weblink (1.Open in active window ,2.open in new window).I want to add open in same window as top.
Can anyone give some useful information ?
Thanks and Regards,
Jack.
Note: Points will be awarded for useful answers.

Hi jack men,
If you are still interested in a solution to your problem...
We just hit upon the same problem. I found out that XMLForms reference htmledit4.js in their <XMLForm-Name>Edit.xsl, so you have to adapt that one.
I saved htmledit4.js and renamed it to htmledit5.js so that I can change the HTMLEditor settings only for my XMLForm (and not for e.g. SAPNewsForm).
I changed the entry in my XML-Form Editor settings XSL to reference the new JavaScript file:
<xsl:value-of select="$xmlformsroot"/>/htmledit/htmledit5.js</xsl:if>
Then I copied the method body of htmledit3.js (the standard htmleditor JavaScript file) to htmledit5.js and adapted it to just show the two tragets of self and top.
The method to display link properties is: htmlb_hed_makeWebLinkDialog
Find this method in both files. Then find in htmledit3.js the beginning of the target window selection-box:
sSizerHtml += "";
the following lines of code determine the selectable values.
You will notice that htmledit4.js misses a few entries. Just copy all or the ones you need.
For your convenience I show my code here:
sSizerHtml += "
";
sSizerHtml += "";
sSizerHtml += "";
//-- target=_blank
sSizerHtml += "<OPTION value=\"_blank\" ";
if(modOpenMode==1) sSizerHtml += "selected";
sSizerHtml += ">";
sSizerHtml += txtMap["TXT_HTMLB_HED_BLANK"];
sSizerHtml += "";
//-- target=_parent --
sSizerHtml += "<OPTION value=\"_parent\" ";
if(modOpenMode==2) sSizerHtml += "selected";
sSizerHtml += ">";
sSizerHtml += txtMap["TXT_HTMLB_HED_PARENT"];
sSizerHtml += "";
//-- target=_search--
sSizerHtml += "<OPTION value=\"_search\" ";
if(modOpenMode==3) sSizerHtml += "selected";
sSizerHtml += ">";
sSizerHtml += txtMap["TXT_HTMLB_HED_SEARCH"];
sSizerHtml += "";
//--target=_self
sSizerHtml += "<OPTION value=\"_self\" ";
if(modOpenMode==4) sSizerHtml += "selected";
sSizerHtml += ">";
sSizerHtml += txtMap["TXT_HTMLB_HED_SELF"];
sSizerHtml += "";
//-- target=_top
sSizerHtml += "<OPTION value=\"_top\" ";
if(modOpenMode==5) sSizerHtml += "selected";
sSizerHtml += ">";
sSizerHtml += txtMap["TXT_HTMLB_HED_TOP"];
sSizerHtml += "";
sSizerHtml += "
";
sSizerHtml += "
";
I didn't check yet if a new generation of the XMLForms Project in the XMLFormsBuilder overwrites the changes in the XMLFormsEdit.xsl, however I guess so. A better way would be to adjust the JavaScript reference in some other configuration file that I haven't found yet, until then just adapt the XSL everytime...
If Carsten Buechert contacted you regarding the exchange of the whole control, I would be interested myself as well.
Cheers

• KM HTML Editor Toolbar

Hi All
I have some missing icons from the Dev portal HTML Editor toolbar and wondered if anyone could help me identify where the problem lies.
I go to Content Administration --> Km Content, then I navigate in to the documents folder and click from the menu Folder --> New --> HTML File and the screen changes to the 'New HTML Document' screen. This all works as I expect but on our Dev portal the toolbar above the HTML Editor only contains B I and U.
On our QA and Training portals this toolbar contains many useful icons.
I have done a lot of searches but I have been unable to find a solution.
Does anyone know whats wrong or needs changing on our Dev portal ?

I figured it out myself, under System Administration - System Configuration - Knowledge Management - Content Management
Utilities - Editing - HTML Editing
There are these options:
Always Use Secure HTML Editor
Allow Only Basic Formatting
Allow Links
Activate Clipboard Buttons
Allow Preview
Allow Indenting
Allow Tables
Allow Bullets and Numbering
Allow Images
Allow Text Size and Font Settings
Allow Color Settings
On Dev we had all options ticked so for us that meant 'Allow Only Basic Formatting' was giving limited icons on the HTML Editor toolbar. It is worth noting that if 'Always Use Secure HTML Editor' is not ticked then the other options dont do anything, it is all based around this first option.

• Change or replace KM HTML Editor

Hi again,
I would like to customize the KM HTML Editor or replace it with another Editor.
Has anyone done that before?
If so, I'd like to know how to achieve that!
I know this might be very complicated, but I appreciate every little hint!
Best regards, Marko

• Default HTML editor set through group policy

OK, this should be an easy one. I know where I can find the setting to change the default HTML editor though group policy for IE10. Do I need to have Microsoft Office installed on the server if I want to set it as Word? The only option
I have right now is Notepad and Office is not installed on the server that I created GPOs. Thank you!

Hi Erin,
>> Do I need to have Microsoft Office installed on the server if I want to set it as Word?
Based on my knowledge, we need to install Office on the server to do this. Besides, when we use Group Policy Preferences, please pay attention to F5-F8 function keys.
Regarding this point, the following article can be referred to for more information.
Enable and Disable Settings in a Preference Item
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc754299.aspx
In addition, if we don't want to install Office on the server, we can try to configure the setting on a Windows 8/8.1 with both RSAT and Word installed or a member server 2012/R2 with GPMC and Word installed.
Best regards,
Frank Shen

• Textarea with HTML editor is not working

Hi all,
This is producing me a real headache.
I created the simplest application in the world with one Textarea with HTML editor, and the editor control does not show the usual tool bar for fonts, color, alignment, etc. Just a ordinary textarea.
Moreover, this was working before... I moved to another location in my work (me, not the server). Yes, I thought about the Internet Explorer, but Firefox has the same issue.
So any idea I can try to make this work?
I have another applications already in production with the same issue.
Need help!!!!!!!!!
Thanks in advance.
Lukas.
Application Express 2.1.0.00.39
Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0
Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.11

Lukas,
I would go and integrate FCKEDITOR (http://www.fckeditor.net/ ) into your application.
Here are instructions on how to achieve this (sorry but only in German):
http://www.oracle.com/global/de/community/tipps/einbinden_fckeditor/index.html
It basically means:
1) copying the files from fckeditor under the /images directory
(you can use the instructions here: http://daust.blogspot.com/2006/03/where-are-images-of-application.html)
2) creating two shortcuts INCLUDE_EDITOR_SCRIPTS and EDITOR
3) placing the shortcut INCLUDE_EDITOR_SCRIPTS into the page html header and
4) placing the shortcut EDITOR into the post element text of your plain textarea element
That's it.
BTW, FCKEDITOR has been included in Apex 3.0 as a standard item type.
Regards,
~Dietmar.
