Configuring Cache Expiration in Toplink using Jdeveloper

HI
I am using Toplink10g, Jdeveloper10g.
I have a batch job running over more than 25K records,
It initially perform a findall query, then updates data and calls commit on Unit OF Work(which merges the entity and all entities in relation), Commit is called after every 100 entities are updated.
After commit, new Unit of work is acquired from the Session.
I am monitoring the memory consumption, I can see it is increasing till it reaches the max., and even after batch job ends, the memory consumption never lowers down.
I assume, all those merged entities are now in cache.m
I tried to check different type of IdentityMaps(i.e. different type of cache), but none helped.
I also tried to set expiry at query level, but found no diff. in memory consumption.
I assume, that If I set cache expiration at project level, then it can help.
But, I couldn't find any way to set cache expiration at project level, in JDeveloper.
I opened the map( configured in sessions.xml), i found what kind of cache to use, but couldn't find a way to set the expiry.
Please suggest any otherw ay also, to reduce memory consumption by batch job, while using Toplink
Thanks

Cache expiration has nothing to do with your issue.
Assuming you used a weak cache, then the cache is probably not what is holding these objects in memory. A weak cache will allow any object that is not reference by your application to garbage collect.
Does your code or application hold onto these objects or the UnitOfWork, they will not be free to garbage collect until you remove any references to them.
Are you holding onto the original findAll query results? If so, then this will keep all of these objects in memory. The UnitOfWork should still be free to garbage collect, so you will need to find out what is holding onto the UnitOfWork or the objects within it. You may wish to use a memory profiler such as JProfiler.
What exact version of TopLink are you using? I believe there were some memory related issues in 10g, so make sure you have the latest patch release.
Depending on your TopLink version you could also try an isolated cache.

  • Deploying a portlet to OAS 10.1.2 using JDeveloper

    Hi,
    Is it possible to deploy a portlet created in JDeveloper 10.1.3.2 to Oracle App Server 10.1.2. ?
    I created a simple portlet using the JDev 10.1.3.2 portlet wizard but when I went to deploy the portlet on Oracle App Server 10.1.2 using JDeveloper I get the following error message.
    (Earlier I had created a new server connection to my 10.1.2 server. I tested the connection to this server inside JDeveloper and there was no issues).
    Does anyone know what causes this issue ?
    HTTP response code = 200, HTTP response msg = OK
    Command has finished
    Receiving command exit value
    Receiving command output
    **** No output was received from command
    Closing connection to Oc4jDcmServlet
    #### DCM command did not complete successfully (-1)
    #### HTTP return code was -1
    Exit status of DCM servlet client: -1
    Elapsed time for deployment: 12 seconds
    #### Deployment incomplete. #### 13-Mar-2007 12:45:44
    Following on from this, if the above error cannot be resolved does this mean that I can't develop portlets for Oracle Portal 10.1.4 and gain the extra functionality (ADF Faces etc...) using JDeveloper 10.1.3.2 ? It appears that 10.1.3.2 is tied into the WebCentre Framework which would require an additional license in order to use some of the components, or am I missing something ?
    Am I better off sticking with JDeveloper 10.1.2 to develop my portlets ?
    Thanks.

    To deploy portlet to Oracle application server.
    1.     Install Oracle database 10g (10.1.0.4.2 or later)
    2.     Install Oracle Application Server (10.1.2.0.2) Infrastructure.
    3.     Install Oracle Application Server (10.1.2.0.2) J2EE and Web Cache
    4.     Install Oracle Application Server (10.1.2.0.2) Portal and Wireless.
    5.     Upgrade Portal to 10.1.4
    6.     Configure Java WSRP Container in Middle Tier
    7.     Deploy a WSRP Portlet Application to Oracle Application Server.

  • How to create secure EJB web service in Oc4J using JDeveloper?

    We are going to develop a EJB web service running in OC4J using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.
    By using the JDeveloper feature, we can simply create the web service by using the "Web Service Endpoint Interface" in the session bean.
    However, unlike the web service created from Java class, I can't find any option to change the security setting of this web service. We tried adding annotation like @DenyAll for testing, but there has no effect and related method can still be called without WS-Security header.
    Now, we can only change the security setting via the web console after deployment (select the web service, then enable security in administration page, and then edit security configuration to change the inbound policies for authentication). It works in our local machine, but it may not work in the production environment as we cannot touch the em console.
    May I know if there has any way to include the security setting inside the project?
    Thanks in advance.

    If I am not wrong, you might be probably talking about this :
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B40099_02/books/EAI2/EAI2_WebServices33.html#wp179056
    In order to implement the SOAP header, you would have to :
    (1) Define SOAP header in the wsdl of the service.
    (2) Add a new soap binding in the wsdl, which contains soap header and soap body.
    I think, this should get you going..

    Alex,
    The document Sandra referred to applies to JDeveloper 10g preview (9.0.5.0). JHeadstart 9.0.4.5 will NOT work with JDeveloper 109 production (9.0.5.1).
    We plan to release a new version end of april that is compatible with 9.0.5.1. See this thread for more info: JDeveloper 10g production, status JHeadstart?

  • How to use JDeveloper with manifest.mfs?

    I'm trying to figure out how to use JDeveloper to setup a J2EE application that contains two Web applications so that the Web applications will share the same instance of a log4j library.
    I've created the two Web apps and their deployment profiles and I've created a deployment profile for the EAR that contains the two Web apps. I've successfully deployed the EAR to the stand-alone OC4J on my development system and run the two Web apps. Currently the two apps use a log4j library in j2ee\home\lib, but that option doesn't support using separate log4j.properties files for each application.
    I've read the pre-release 9iAS 9.0.4 Servlet Developers Guide document and would like to use the third option described in the Guide's appendix that tells how to share the log4j library by specifying the log4j.jar file in a class-path entry in manifest.mf.
    My problem is I just don't understand the in's and out's of using/creating manifest.mf files with JDeveloper and its deployment profiles.
    Do I create manifest.mf's myself, and if so where should they be in the source folder heirarchy? Should the manifest.mf files for both Web apps include class-path entries for the log4j library, or only the manifest.mf file for the EAR? What are the right manifest.mf settings to use in the deployment profiles for the Web apps and the J2EE app?
    For example, should the EAR deployment profile be configured to merge the manifest.mf files of the two Web apps? Is it necessary to make one of the Web apps dependent on the other Web app?
    Thanks,
    Al Margheim

    Hi,
    Thought I'd use the same subject, because it matches my problem. The questions are:
    1. How do I get JDeveloper to use MANIFEST files properly? I'm using 9.0.3.1 and I have tried (un)checking different options in the EJB JAR/EAR deployment profile, but I never get the archive structure I want.
    2. How do I include third-party JARs in the final EJB JAR/EAR? Any attempt I make to include a library JAR ( via Project Settings or by adding to the project) gives me an expanded set of classes contained in the JAR file, which is something I don't want.
    Of course, I could easily achieve all that I want with Ant, and it will have to be outside JDev (using Ant within JDev prevents JDev from offering me its "full feature set"!). But I'd like to be able to do this while I'm still in the IDE (for what it's worth).
    Any suggestions/recommendations/pointers are welcome.
    regards
    George

    It seems this is not a Java EE deployment so is the Employee class listed in the persistence.xml file? Or have you set <exclude-unlisted-classes>false</exclude-unlisted-classes> ? Alternatively you could package the classes into a Jar referenced through the <jar-file></jar-file> element.

  • Can we create a Portal without Spaces using JDeveloper ?

    Hi
    Is it possible to have Portal without Webcenter Spaces (collaboration) component for WebCenter but I do require a portal with the Administration functionality found in the WL_Spaces managed Server. For instance, securing pages/portlets, LDAP/OAM integration, exchange integration, UCM integration, configuration with WSRP portlets on WL_Portlet and analytics configuration with WL_Utiltiies. Can we create a new portal (one without Spaces) using JDeveloper and create a managed server?
    Cheers
    Khad

    Yes you can!
    WebCenter is more than just WebCenter Spaces.
    WebCenter Spaces is just one part, another part is the WebCenter Portal which is an application in JDeveloper. You might want to read my tutorial: http://www.yonaweb.be/webcenter_tutorial/introduction it explains how to build such a portal.
    All the connections you make in the enterprise manager, can also be configured in JDeveloper so you can also use UCM, mail server, portlets and so on in WebCenter Portal application in JDeveloper.
    It is common practice to create a new managed server on your domain to deploy the custom WebCenter Portal application. You can also manage the connections to the different service from within the enterprise manager, just as you do with spaces.

  • What happens when the Apple Configurator Certs Expire?

    So I was looking at some iPads I deployed sometime ago using Apple Configurator.  Last summer I brough them all in (about 220 units,) wiped them, used configurator to install iOS 5.1, all supervised, and named according to the Teacher they were given out to.  Haven't seen the iPads since.  Last few weeks I've had a few come back with misc problems and I noticed within the Supervision Profile the "Signing Certificate" and "Certificate" for Apple Configurator both expire on August 13, 2013.  What will happen on/after August 13, 2013 with these units?

    From another site, I got a tip that if you use Keychain Access, double click on the AppleConfigurator (MAC address of machine) entry (it'll have a red X badge & the date it expired), open up the Trust disclosure triangle and set "When using this certificate"t o Always Trust. The red X badge changes to a blue + badge.

  • Datasource connection in Weblogic server using JDeveloper

    Hi,
    I am using JDeveloper 11g Release 2 (11.1.2.1.0) and WebLogic Server Version: 10.3.5.0.
    We have a project (ant build.xml) with some Application Modules.
    In JDeveloper we did the following to create a connection to datasource in the WebLogic:
    1- Created an Application Server Connection (called ActivityModuleConnection) testing this gives success so we have connection to WebLogic.
    2- Created a database connection (called ActivityModuleCore) and test goes well here as well.
    3- In WebLogic Server created a datasource (called jdbc/ActivityModuleCordeDS).
    And here are the bc4j.xcfg file that we have:
    <AppModuleConfig DeployPlatform="EjbWls" oracle.jbo.usemds="false" jbo.pers.max.active.nodes="-1" oracle.adfm.usemds="false" name="J2EEDS" ApplicationName="dv.framework.activity.model.ActivityModule">
    <Security AppModuleJndiName="dv.framework.activity.model.ActivityModule"/>
    <Custom JDBCDataSource="java:comp/env/jdbc/VeraActivityModuleCoreDS" AppServerConnectionName="ActivityModuleConnection"/>
    </AppModuleConfig>
    <ConnectionDefinition name="ActivityModuleConnection">
    <Entry value="7002" name="JMX_CONNECTOR_SSL_PORT"/>
    <Entry value="WebLogic_10.x" name="ConnectionType"/>

    <SecureEntry name="password">
    <XXXXXXXX>
    </SecureEntry>
    <Entry name="DeployPassword" value="true"/>
    </ConnectionDefinition>
    </BC4JConfig>
    But when running the application it seems that it can not find the datasource:

    I also tried with

  • Creating Asynchronous webservice using Jdeveloper

    Guys,
              I want to expose a java class as a Asynchronous web service. The issue is i cannot make it asynchronous. When i deploy it, there is no callback port.
    Have anybody used Jdeveloper to generate Asynchronous web service from java class?
    Below is my code....
    import javax.jws.WebService;
    import oracle.webservices.annotations.async.AsyncWebService;
    @WebService(serviceName = "MyTestAsyncService")
    @AsyncWebService
    public class MyTestAsyncService
      public  String sayHello()
        return "Hello World";

    Hello,
    I think, it should be work. I just tested using JDeveloper 11.1.2.3.0.
    This is web service:
    package webservice;
    import javax.jws.WebMethod;
    import javax.jws.WebService;
    @WebService(serviceName = "MyTestAsyncService")
    public class MyTestAsyncService {
        @WebMethod
        public String sayHello() {
            return "Hello World";
    I have generated using New->Web Service Client and Proxy and give WSDL URL.
    It will generate web service client with asynchrone.
    package ws.client;
    // This source file is generated by Oracle tools.
    // Contents may be subject to change.
    // For reporting problems, use the following:
    // Generated by Oracle JDeveloper 11g Release 2 11.1.2.3.0.6276
    public class MyTestAsyncServicePortClient {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            MyTestAsyncService_Service myTestAsyncService_Service = new MyTestAsyncService_Service();
            MyTestAsyncService myTestAsyncService = myTestAsyncService_Service.getMyTestAsyncServicePort();
            System.out.println(myTestAsyncService.sayHello());
            // Add your code to call the desired methods.
    Also that one is port class, which is generated from wizard.
    package ws.client;
    import java.net.MalformedURLException;
    import java.net.URL;
    import java.util.logging.Logger;
    import javax.xml.namespace.QName;

  • Getting error:  java.lang.IllegalStateException: Service has been started by a different configurable cache factory.

    We are trying to implement host name based security for our Coherence cluster. This is mainly to prevent processes running in one environment (UAT for example) connecting to the Coherence cluster running in another environment (PROD for example).
    We wanted to ensure that 1) Only Coherence nodes running on specific machines can join the cluster as members. To accomplish this, we added the list of authorized hosts to the override file (see marketrisk-coherence-override.xml) This works as expected with no issues
    We also want to ensure that we allow client connections from some specific machines. All of our clients connect to the cluster through the proxy. So, we added added a host filter to the cache config file (see marketrisk-cache-config.xml) to control the list of client machines that can are allowed to connect to the cluster. The host filter is pretty simple. If the incoming host address is found in a cache, it allows the connection else it refuses the connection. Please see AuthorizedClientHostsFilter.java for more details.
    When we start the cluster, the storage nodes are failing to come up with the following error message:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.IllegalStateException: Service "ReferenceDataCacheService" has been started by a different configurable cache factory.
                    at com.tangosol.net.ExtensibleConfigurableCacheFactory.validateBackingMapManager(ExtensibleConfigurableCacheFactory.java:829)

                    at com.tangosol.net.DefaultCacheServer.startAndMonitor(DefaultCacheServer.java:74)
                    at com.tangosol.net.DefaultCacheServer.main(DefaultCacheServer.java:260)
    This error goes away and the cluster starts normally if we remove host filter from the cache config file or we modify AuthorizedClientHostsFilter.java to not get a handle to the cache when it is instantiated. Please see AuthorizedClientHostsFilter1.java which has this change.
    We believe this is happening because the storage node is creating two cache factories when we use the host filter (AuthorizedClientHostsFilter.java). The storage nodes creates only one cache factory if  we do not use the host filter or if I use AuthorizedClientHostsFilter1.java.
    I do not understand why this is happening. Can you please help? The attached zip file should have all the information that you will probably need.

    public class AuthorizedClientHostsFilter implements Filter {
        //private static final Logger logger = LoggerFactory.getLogger(AuthorizedClientHostsFilter.class);

  • Adding Authentication to Web Service using JDeveloper

    Hi Gurus,
    I am new to weblogic 10.3 and Jdeveloper 11.1.3. Using Jdeveloper, I imported few packages from database , right clicked and published them as a webservice on a weblogic server. I did not select any WLS policies. The web service is working fine. Now i want to add some basic authorization (username/password) to this webservice.
    Which policy should i use ?
    Where should i configure this username\password so that all the webservices uses same user for authenctication ? Do i have to create this user on the weblogic server? If yes then how.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Jack

    Hi,
    If you are using JAXWS based WebService then you can give it a try:
    http://weblogic-wonders.com/weblogic/2010/01/09/username-token-in-jaxws-webservice/
    This sample demonstrates ..How we can use UserName/Password Authentication in JAXWS Service. This will be very Easy for you to develop using JDeveloper...U need to Just the add Following XML file as a Policy inside your Application.
    Using the following Policy:
    <font color=maroon>
    <?xml version=”1.0″?>
    <wsp:Policy
    xmlns:wsp=”http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2004/09/policy”
    xmlns:sp=”http://docs.oasis-open.org/ws-sx/ws-securitypolicy/200512″>
    <sp:SupportingTokens>
    <wsp:Policy>
    <sp:UsernameToken
    sp:IncludeToken=”http://docs.oasis-open.org/ws-sx/ws-securitypolicy/200512/IncludeToken/AlwaysToRecipient”>
    <wsp:Policy>
    <sp:WssUsernameToken10/>
    </wsp:Policy>
    </sp:UsernameToken>
    </wsp:Policy>
    </sp:SupportingTokens>
    </wsp:Policy>

  • How to reduce configuration cache file Quota size located in ( C:\Windows\ccmcache ) for all client from SCCM 2012 server

    How to reduce configuration cache file Quota size located in ( C:\Windows\ccmcache ) for all client from SCCM 2012 server
    Thanks in Advance
    NTRao

    Hi,
    There are numerous ways to change the cache size.
    You could deploy a vbscript to a collection of the devices.
    On Error Resume Next
    Dim UIResManager
    Dim Cache
    Dim CacheSize
    CacheSize=20000
    Set UIResManager = createobject("UIResource.UIResourceMgr")
    Set Cache=UIResManager.GetCacheInfo()
    Cache.TotalSize=CacheSize
    Or you could use a configuration item.
    http://blog.coretech.dk/heh/configuration-items-and-baselines-using-scripts-powershell-example/
    You can also use the right click tools by Now Micro on a collection, if all the servers are on this would be the easiest / quickest way.

    http://www.david-obrien.net/2013/02/how-to-configure-the-configmgr-client/
    select SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceID, SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceType, SMS_R_SYSTEM.Name, SMS_R_SYSTEM.SMSUniqueIdentifier, SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceDomainORWorkgroup, SMS_R_SYSTEM.Client from SMS_R_System where SMS_R_System.OperatingSystemNameandVersion like '%6.2%'
