Configuring MIME types in standalone OC4J?

How do you configure outgoing mime types in standalone OC4J? I noticed that when I run my application with Mozilla, while the JavaScript console is up, when I display a page that has a "<style>" element, which refers to a "text/css"-type file, I see a warning in the javascript console saying this CSS file was sent as "application/octet-stream", instead of the expected "text/css".
I see that there is a file "$OC4J_HOME/j2ee/home/config/mime.types". To this, I added the following line:
text/css                         css
I figured this was all I would need to resolve this. Unfortunately, this appeared to make no difference.

Hi there,
I am having same issue which you had. Would you, please provide more information on "...point path of web-module-id in application.xml to my abc application...".
I had tried change path of <web-module id="defaultWebApp" ...>with my application at "../../home/applications/myApp/myApp/". I have restarted server and I tried "http://localhost:8888/" and it returned blank page instead of my login.jsp as home-file defined in myApp's web.xml.
Did I change the right place or value of path in application.xml?
It will be greatly appreciated that you can point me to right "path" of this.
Thanks,
Henry

  • Web server type of standalone oc4j needed for SSL Certificate

    Hi,
    We have a standalone oc4j 10.1.3 that hosts an application whose many of its pages use https and so we need to buy SSL certificate from any of CAs like Verisign, GeoTrust, etc.. All of these CAs are asking us about the web server type that the standalone OC4J uses. I read the following statement from this url:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B32110_01/web.1013/b28950/intro.htm#JICON100
    "communications in a standalone environment is provided through the built-in *_OC4J Web server_*, which supports HTTP and HTTPS communications natively without the use of the Oracle HTTP Server"
    On all of the SSL certificate systems of above CAs websites, they ask us to choose the web server type from a list of server types but I don't see OC4J web server listed and I am told that it is very important to make sure the web server type is correct otherwise the SSL Certificate that we buy may not be compatible with our web server type.
    So, I like to know the exact built in web server type name that goes with Standalone OC4J or one that is closest and for which SSL Certificate is compatible.
    Shown below is a list of web server types that I am asked to choose from on Verisign website.The closest to standalone oc4j according to below list is Oracle Wallet Manager but isn't this meant for Oracle Application Server (OAS) and not the standalone OC4J? we are using the java keytool to generate the CSR that we look to sign it via the verisign but again we are not sure about the web server type in the case of standalone OC4J that is not listed below. Please advice and thanks in advance to any of your responses in helping out.

  • Oracle 10g - Creating a new Application Server using standalone OC4J 10g

    I have some issues in creating a new app. server using standalone oc4j 10g 10.1.3 instance. After I created the app. server instance, I tested the connection and it says connection refused. I used the userid as oc4jadmin and the password as welcome. I am getting a message connection refused. For connection, I used the default hostname "localhost" and I didn't mention anything in the URL path.

    Thanks Steve..
    Here is what I am trying to do.. I want to create a new app server instance (i.e.) stand alone oc4j server, where I can deploy my web service and run a test.
    Oracle JDeveloper 10g:
    Under Connection Navigator, Application Server --
    1) Right click to 'Create New Application Server Connection'
    2) Connection type as 'Standalone OC4J 10 g 10.1.3',
    3) Username ==> oc4jadmin, Password ==>welcome, checked the Deploy password.
    4) Hostname: localhost RMI Port: 23791
    URL path: <<blank>>
    5) Test Connection ==> getting a error message...

    Any input you can provide would be of great help.

  • How do I configure WL6.1 to download svg Mime Types?

    I am trying to not only display an svg object on my screen, but also have full access to its SVGDocument object via Javascript in the pages that contain the embedded svg object. It works perfectly when I open it in a browser directly, but not from Weblogic.
              I can even serve it up on Weblogic, save the results of my JSPs as html, and open it from the file system and the code works fine.
              It's as if Weblogic is not protraying the embedded svg as a valid object with an object model.
              I have tried the following:
              1) I changed my .svg file to a .jsp and added the following line to try and force the browser to recognize it:
              <%@ page contentType="image/svg xml"%>
              2) I configured the svg mime type directly on the console.
              3) I also made sure that my WEB-INF/web.xml looked like this:
              <!DOCTYPE web-app PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Web Application 2.2//EN" "http://java.sun.com/j2ee/dtds/web-app_2_2.dtd">
              <web-app>
              <mime-mapping>
              <extension>svg</extension>
              <mime-type>image/svg xml</mime-type>
              </mime-mapping>
              <welcome-file-list>
              <welcome-file>index.html</welcome-file>
              </welcome-file-list>
              </web-app>
              Any ideas? Thanks so much!

    I've noticed this too. The issue seems to be that it considers space in and around your server tags significant. The best way to cut down on the space is to group your server tags and code closer together. Or course, this sacrifices a bit of code readability. You can either try to strike a balance between readability and white space, or try writing a small app that adds and removes unneeded whitespace from your jsp. That way you could pass the file through your formatter before posting it to yoru server and pass it back through to read it.

  • How to Configure a Servlet Chain Using MIME Types with weblogic5.1?

    Hi ,

    We suggest that use the request dispatcher interface instead. Servlet

  • Case sensitive file extensions on mime.types?

    Hello,
    I'm facing a weird problem at customers's site.
    There is an iAS 10.1.3.3 installation on a Windows 2000 server. There is an OC4J container called "OC4J_FR" where their application is depoyed.
    The trouble we're facing is the following:
    on the %ORACLE_HOME%/j2ee/OC4J_FR/config/mime.types we add the following 2 entries:
    image/tiff                    tif tiff
    application/vnd.ms-excel     xls
    So, when we put someFile.tif (or someOther.xls) under the container public directory it is possible for users to access them via the URL
    http://servername:port/webContextRoot/someFile.tif
    And this works OK.
    If we try to rename the above file into something like myFile.TIFF (please note the extension in uppercase) Internet Explorer opens it like text, wiring this "rubbish":
    II*Àg ÒgL1ÂÊ$(2ÈdÙ¨¦Í@6j)³P‘<mò°Ú¨³
    etc....
    While Firefox opens it correctly. I also tried to add on mime.types the following (even if on the Apache website it is told that this is useless...)
    image/tiff                    TIF TIFF
    But still it doesn't work.
    Any hints/patches/workarounds/ideas/anything?
    Thanks,
    - Paolo

    Can't really say what's wrong but I quickly tried it with OHS (Oracle HTTP Server) and it works fine both in Firefox 3.0 and IE 6.0 without making any change (in mime type configuration). I copied two tiff files (sample1.tiff and sample2.TIFF) in $OH/Apache/Apache/htdocs directory and then was successfully able to access both using http://host.domain:ohs_port/sample1.tiff and http://host.domain:ohs_port/sample2.TIFF.
    When you say you tried with Apache website, is above what you tried too?
    Thanks
    Shail

  • Has anyone had a WebService running on standalone OC4J 101300 / 101310

    I am trying to run the most basic of webservices on these containers - what was achieved within minutes on IBM WAS 6.0, JBoss 4.0 and WLS 9.1 is just not getting possible with this release of the container!
    Initially thought it was a deployment / code issue - but have been consistently able to take the same WSDL and generate the WebService (and deploy) on other containers except OC4J. The same service runs successfully within JDev embedded OC4J.
    Using JDeveloper, I was able to generate both top-down and bottom-up services. Neither got deployed - either through uploading the EAR file, ANT build file, JDeveloper deploy to connections etc...
    Even tried changed entries in the server.xml and the default-web-site.xml file - but it is of no use.
    No extra libraries were added - same results were obtained even with a fresh install of the container in this environment: WinXP Pro + JDK 1.5.2_09 + OC4J 101300 / 101310.
    All these come back with the same error:

    So it does work. What the specific problem is with your situation, one of our WS PMs most likely be able to help with.
    The error you have:
    2006-11-16 20:01:15.764 WARNING java.lang.ClassCastException: com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.dom.DeferredElementNSImpl
    Is strange -- can you check your WAR file and see if there are other libraries in the WEB-INF/lib that may be being loaded?
    Do you have xerces-impl.jar or anything like that in the JRE/lib directory of your JDK?
    cheers

  • Action method called in standalone OC4j but not OAS

    I am setting up a test environment on Solaris x86 machine and have run into an odd issue concerning an action method being called which seems to be an issue for Oracle Application Server (OAS) but not an issue for stand alone OC4J.
    The application is using Java 5, Spring 2.5, Java Servlet 2.3, Struts 2, iBatis 2.2, Sitemesh, and Display Tag to name some of the parts that are in play.
    The platform is a Sun Fire X2100 server running Solaris 10 OS (64-bit). The application server version is 10.1.3 (Solaris x86, 64-bit) connecting to Oracle database server 10.2.0.2.0 (Solaris x86, 32-bit). The stand alone OC4J that I used for comparison was 10.1.3.4.0 (also run under the same Solaris machine but not while the application server was running).
    Going from one JSP that contains a list of items ("authority ids" in this case) to another JSP which displays detailed information about one item (chosen by clicking on a hyperlink in the list), it appears that the setter action method (which sets the 'sid' property) does not get called under OAS so the page displays empty fields. Same code running under the stand alone OC4J, the setter method does get called and the fields are populated on the details page. In both cases, both deployments are hitting the same database and the data is successfully retrieved from the database (into the action class). In both cases, the parameter that is set by this action method is present in the URL for the detail page.
    Snippet of code from the JSP that loads the authority ID list (and passes the sid in the URL):
    <display:table name="authorityIdList" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" requestURI=""
        defaultsort="1" id="authorityIdTypes" pagesize="25" class="table" export="true">
        <s:url id="editurl" action="editAuthorityId" includeContext="false">
          <s:param name="redirectUrl" value="%{returnUrl}"/>
        </s:url>
        <display:column property="fieldName" escapeXml="true" sortable="true" titleKey="authorityIdType.fieldName"; style="width: 34%" url="${editurl}"
          media="html csv xml excel pdf" paramId="sid" paramProperty="sid"/>Snippet from the authority ID detail form where the sid should be populated:
    <tr style="display: none"><td>
          <s:hidden key="sid"/>
            <s:hidden name="redirectUrl"/>
        </td></tr>Snippet from the action class that contains the setter for the sid property:
      public Integer getSid() {
            return sid;
      public void setSid(Integer sid) {
            this.sid = sid;
      }Snippet from the resulting html page for the list includes the sid for each item in the list.
    <td style="width: 34%">DODAAC</td>
    <td style="width: 25%">DODAAC</td></tr>
    <tr class="even">
    <td style="width: 34%">DODAAN</td>
    <td style="width: 25%">DODAAN</td></tr></tbody></table>Under the stand alone OC4J, the setter method is called, so the sid is populated (and the item detail data from the action is retrieved and displayed).
    Snippet from the resulting detail html page from the stand alone OC4J:
        <tr style="display: none"><td>
             <input type="hidden" name="sid" value="1" id="saveAuthorityId_sid"/>
            <input type="hidden" name="redirectUrl" value="http://system01:8888/MyApp/admin/authorityIdTypes.html"; id="saveAuthorityId_redirectUrl"/>
        </td>Notice that the sid value as well as the redirectUrl value are populated under standalone OC4J.
    Under OAS, the setter method is not called, so the sid is not set (and none of the other item detail fields are populated).
    Snippet from the resulting detail html page from OAS:
       <tr style="display: none"><td>
             <input type="hidden" name="sid" value="" id="saveAuthorityId_ sid"/>
            <input type="hidden" name="redirectUrl" value="" id="saveAuthorityId_redirectUrl"/>
        </td>Notice that the sid value as well as the redirectUrl value are empty under OAS.
    Any ideas on what I need to change in OAS configuration to make this work under OAS (if this is a configuration issue)?

    I found another case that may be clearer.
    A confirmation page on the application server shows that the redirect url is not being populated:
    <form id="confirmation" name="confirmation" onsubmit="return true;" action="/MyApp/admin/confirmation.html" method="post"><table class="wwFormTable">
         <input type="hidden" name="redirectUrl" value="" id="confirmation_redirectUrl"/>
       <tr>
        <td colspan="2"><div align="right"><input type="submit" id="confirmation_continue" name="method:proceed" value="Continue"/>
    </div></td>
    </tr>
    </table></form>Same code running on the standalone OC4j does populate the redirect URL:
    <form id="confirmation" name="confirmation" onsubmit="return true;" action="/MyApp/admin/confirmation.html" method="post"><table class="wwFormTable">
         <input type="hidden" name="redirectUrl" value="http://system01:8888/MyApp/admin/users.html" id="confirmation_redirectUrl"/>
       <tr>
        <td colspan="2"><div align="right"><input type="submit" id="confirmation_continue" name="method:proceed" value="Continue"/>
    </div></td>
    </tr>
    </table></form>So it appears that the application server is having problems passing parameters to pages.
    I have been digging through Oracle documentation, but I haven't found any clues on how to fix the issue.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    - David

  • Deploy app on standalone OC4J running on jdk1.6.0_04

    Hi all!
    I am trying to deploy an application on standalone OC4J running on jdk1.6.0_04. The application runs well when started on embedded oc4j (which is running on java 1.6). I know that jdk1.6 is not supported, but the application works smoother and faster on 1.6 and I want to try and find the reason why it won't work on standalone oc4j. When I start the server (start_oc4j.bat with JAVA_HOME set to c:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_04) I get these messages:

    Can anyone help me, am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks,

    Running into the same issues; been juggling between JDK 5/6, Embedded and Standalone OC4J on various platforms; still no answer...
    Here's what I do know:
    OC4J on TN is for TP1 only, JDeveloper is for TP3 or later, so you must use the bundled OC4J with JDeveloper cross platform as well - including all patches like SOA and friends.
    JDK 6u4 is very bad; use anything but that; u5 seems good.
    A good start might be to go with the Emedded OC4J, take a look at the classpath and startup commands given by the IDE for the server in the logs and simply match with some bat file if you can - from the looks of it the Standalone OC4J is behind thus the reason it's only released for TP1.
    I'm not bothering with this till they pair a release with a Standalone OC4J.

  • Java.lang.InstantiatiCould not read mime-mappings config file: ./mime.types

    I am about to had enough of this moronic container call OC4J that's compatible to to itself.
    I did a
    1. clean unzip and installation.
    2. setup admin account.
    3. config the autodeploy in server.xml (Who in their right phreakin mind design a container with no hot deploy nowaday).
    4. configure the data source.
    5. test data source using a webapp with one page jsp do a JSF jdbc connection.
    When try and deploy the error-free webapp (tested in tomcat) using both frontend and autodeploy,a cryptic error occur: could not read mime.types.
    I have never see this error before in my life. its in oracle.oc4j.admin.internal.ApplicationDeployer.addApplication
    This error happened after I configure my webapp to do phreakin orion-application.xml disable toplink, orion-webapp xml prefer local class file. If I don't get this resolve within couple days, I'll put my career on the line with full force and request we do not use OC4J anywhere in this group.
    A M$FT .NET project looks very promising and efficient compare this deployment hell they call OC4J

    Thank you Steve for your help. I really do appreciate ppl taking the time to answer questions from n00b like me.
    I tried and disable global.libraries and global.tag.libraries when deploy, and at one point the login page (its Spring 1.2.8 + hibernate 3.1.3 + Myface 1.1.4 + acegi 1.0.1 ) came out, but cannot login and without exceptions, so I was guessing acegi poblem. But the spring and hibernate is working, I can see the conn and other activities. And after a couple tries, cannot even get the login page display now in MyFace, with exceptions:
    include(java.lang.String) in javax.servlet.jsp.PageContext cannot be applied to (java.lang.String,boolean)
    And then after some googling found out there will be code change for this webapp as well.
    - change webapp.listener for double instantiation in OC4J (Code Change)
    - create new class OrionSessionListener implements HttpSessionListener for session invalidation (Code Change) NEW JAVA CLASS
    - acegi j_security_check URL reference change (Code Change, but minor)
    I think the container has great performance, but I just wish they can look more to the compatabilities/common practices issues

  • Deploy ADF application to standalone OC4J 11g

    Hi people!
    I found some threads into the forums that deal with the subject but I did not find any solution, so I post a new thread...
    In fact, I'd like to deploy a "war" on a standalone oc4j 11g.
    The application was built with jdev 11g TP4.
    I can't use the ADF runtime Installer of jdev, so I have to copy all the files by myself, but the problem is that I do not find the files in jdev11/BC4J/lib/ that I have to copy in oc4j/BC4J/lib...
    There is no adfcm.jar, bc4jdomorcl.jar, etc ...
    Is it normal ? Could someone indicate me how to configure the standalone oc4j 11g in order to deploy my "war" ?
    Thanks a lot,
    romain.

    Hi,
    TP4 doesn't have a standalone OC4J.
    Try to start embedded oc4j from jdeveloper in standalone mode.
    see e.g. Re: Can Jdeveloper TP4 deploy apps to OC4J standalone TP4
    BTW: The production release 11g is announced within next week and this release will contain Weblogic Server 10gR3 instead of OC4J.
    JDeveloper 11g release this month?
    regards
    Peter

  • Jdev 10.1.3.2 and Standalone OC4J 10.1.2

    Hi,
    I am trying to create an application server connection to a standalone OC4J (10.1.2) in JDeveloper 10.1.3.2.
    In step 1 of the Create App Server connection I select Standalone OC4J 10.1.3. (Thinking that OC4J version 10.1.2 is configured similarly).
    I fill in the required information in the remaining steps
    (username and password, hostname etc..) but when I go to test the connection, the Testing Connection Status window just hangs, it appears no connection is being made and it just remains that way.
    My standalone OC4J is up and running. It was started using the command java -jar oc4j.jar
    Anyone have any ideas as to what is wrong ?
    Are there any log files I can look at to try and resolve the problem ?
    Thanks,

    You can create EAR/WAR file from JDeveloper and then use the OC4J 10.1.2 managment console to deploy them to the server, there is no one-click-deploy support from JDev 10.1.3 to OC4J stand-alone 10.1.2
