Configuring multiple forms environments

I originally posted this over in app server, but saw a similar post with a response suggesting that forms issues are best addressed over in this forum ... so here it is:
9i AS Rel 2. We need to have two independent 'environments' running on one server. For example, a 'dev' environment (development set of forms) and a separate 'QA' environment (separate set of forms).
We know how to handle this using 'named configurations' within the formsweb.cfg file, but in that case, both environments use the same, single oc4j server. We'd like to have one oc4j server for each forms set.
We've also read how to setup more than one oc4j instance for load balancing, but they all point to the same set of forms. We need to somehow setup a separate oc4j for each set of forms.
Why? Why not named configurations? We want to be able to stop/start (bounce) one environment without impacting another; we want to 'stop' one environment altogether without impacting others; we want to prevent one environment from going ballistic and impacting the others; etc. Ideally, we'd like to tie each forms environment to a separate ip address, or at least a different port number.
Anyone know how to do this? !!
Platform is windows 2000 server.

Hello,
Why don't you simply include your 2 forms in just one?
I'm no smartform specialist but you should be able to simulate 2 documents with a single smartform.

    Hi Martin,
Well we are trying to run a report without exactly specifying the name of reports server anywhere, e.g. in database or in form or anywhere else. Now if I do not supply a reports server name using RUN_REPORT_OBJECT, the error it displays is FRM-41211: Integration Error : SSL failure ... However if I specify the reports server name in the form, the reports run perfect. Also the name of reports server is specified in rwservlet.properties.
Now the question goes as follows:
Can I run my report from Form without specifying the name of the Reports server anywhere at all. This is so because either an in-process reports server should be picked or the one which is entered in rwservlet.properties should be pickec up by default. • Best Practices: BIP Infrastructure and Multiple Installations/Environments

    Hi all,
We are in process of implementing BI Publisher as the main reporting tool to replace Oracle Reports for a number of Oracle Form Applications within our organization. Almost all of our Forms environments are (or will be) SSO enabled.
We have done a server install of BIP (AS 10gR3) and enabled BIP with SSO (test) and everything seems in order for this one dev/test environment. I was hoping to find out how others out there are dealing with some of the following issues regarding multiple environments/installs (and licensing):
Is it better to have one production BIP server or as many BIP severs as there are middle tier form servers? (Keeping in mind all these need to be SSO enabled). Multiple installs would mean higher maintenance/resource costs but is there any significant gain by having more autonomy where each application has its own BIP install?
Can we get away with stand alone installations for dev/test environments? If so, how do we implement/migrate reports to production if BIP server is only accessible to DBAs in production (and even real UAT environment where developer needs to script work for migration)? In general, what is the best way to handle security when it comes to administration/development?
I have looked at the Oracle iStore for some figures but this last question is perhaps one for Oracle Sales people but just in case anybody knows... How's licensing affected by multiple installations? Do we pay per installation or user? Do production and test/dev cost the same? Is the cost of stand alone environment different?
I would appreciate if you can share your thoughts/experiences in regards to any of the above topics. Thank you in advance for your time.
    Regards,
    Yahya

Your data is bigger than I run, but what I have done in the past is to restrict their accounts to a separate datafile and limit its size to the max that I want for them to use: create objects restricted to accommodate the location.

I am having trouble configuring multiple ldap domains for declarative security and form-based authentication.
I have setup another instance of Directory Server on my local machine, on a different port. I want to be able to talk to this alternate directory server for form-based authentication and roles.
I have tried to do this by following the instructions at http://docs.iplanet.com/docs/manuals/ias/60/sp3/admin/adbasica.htm#21662, but I've had no luck. Below are screenshots of my configuration. (I've attached a word document in case you don't have a HTML-enabled mail reader).

  • Configuring Multiple Campus Environment

    Hi,
Being fairly new to IS-HER, I need your valuable inputs for configuring an existing campus structure to incorporate multiple campus environment.
I have the requirement as below:
    1. We are coming up with a new campus in a different location. So there will be 2 campuses C1 and C2 (new).
    2. Both campus should come under one Institute.
    3. C1 & C2 may or may not have same academic calendar.
    4. C1 & C2 must have 2 intakes per academic year.
    5. C1 & C2 may offer same or different courses.
    6. Student from C1 should have the flexibility to attend courses offered in C2 if the same is not available in C1. In such a case, final transcript should only get generated with C1.
Can I go ahead with below structure/Objects:
    3 Org. Units -[ C1/C2 reporting to P1]
    2 Acad. Cal. -[C1 uses CA1 and C2 uses CA2]
    Programs independent of Acad. Cal.
Please suggest the best structure for multiple campus environments.
    Regards.

    Hi Sandboy,
You could set your organizational and academic structure up as follows:
    - 3 organizational units (1 top organizational unit 'university', 2 lower level organizational units 'campuses').
    - Create two different F objects (locations) to relate (a003) the campuses to locations
    - 2 academic calenders (please also consider one academic calender if ONLY the registration periods are different. You should ten relate the one calender to the highest org unit. Please also note the fee calculation reads only the highest calender 0100 TL!)
    - Programs as offered by the campusses under the related organizational units as wel as the module groups and modules.
With this set-up you are good to go and run the processes as you described.

  • How to configure multiple IP-Adresses on one NIC in OVM

    Hi guys,
we have some OVM Servers 2.2.1 installed. They all have three NICs in them (eth0-2). For eth0 and eth2 we need multiple IP-Adresses configured to work with our storage solution. The configuration should look like this:
    eth0:0 - 192.168.31.x
    eth0:1 - 192.168.33.x
    eth1 - 192.168.0.x
    eth2:0 - 192.168.32.x
    eth2:1 - 192.168.34.x
I tried creating gonfig files ifcfg-eth0:0 in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts with the following content
    DEVICE=eth0:0
    BOOTPROTO=static
    ONBOOT=yes
    NETMASK=255.255.255.0
    IPADDR=192.168.31.3
    TYPE=Ethernet
    HWADDR=00:1b:21:06:f0:fa
But it does not work. Neither eth0:0 nore an additional xenbr is configured when i restart.
I can configure multiple ip addresses for xenbr0 by calling something like "ifconfig xenbr0 192.168.31.x". But these settings get lost as sonn as i reboot the server.
I have already searched google, forums and blogs for a solution but could not find one. I thought that this should be a pretty common task. In "normal" linux it is not an issue at all.
Has somebody any experience with a setup like this? I would really apreciate your help.
    Thanks
    Marek

    Hi,
configuring IP aliasses seems to work the same way like configuring VLANs. You will have to configure the appropriate bridges at system startup manually.
E.g. this little script is what I use to configure VLANs and briges on my OVM:
    #!/bin/bash
    echo "Configuring VLANs and bridges\n"
echo "Configuring VLAN 24 on eth2"
    vconfig add eth2 24
    brctl addbr br2.24
    brctl addif br2.24 eth2.24
    ifconfig eth2.24 up
    ifconfig br2.24 up
echo "Configuring VLAN 31 on eth2"
    vconfig add eth2 31
    brctl addbr br2.31
    brctl addif br2.31 eth2.31
    ifconfig eth2.31 up
    ifconfig br2.31 up
This script is run at startup by init using this startup skript in /etc/init.d, which is what I think you're missing as you can already seem to bring up the needed IPs manually - you'd have to change the chkconfig accordingly, that is make sure that the config script gets startet after the network has been brought up, like this: # chkconfig: 2345 11 91
    [root@oraclevm01 ~]# cat /etc/init.d/vlan-config
    #! /bin/bash
    # vlan-config configure VLANs
    # chkconfig: 2345 11 89
    # description: Configures VLANs at boot time before the \
    # network is started.
    ### BEGIN INIT INFO
    # Provides: $vlan
    ### END INIT INFO
    # Source function library.
    . /etc/init.d/functions
    if [ ! -f /etc/vlan-config ]; then
    exit 0
    fi
    # See how we were called.
    case $1 in
         start)
                   # configure vlans
                   /etc/vlan-config
              echo $"Usage: $0 {start}"
              exit 1
    esac
    exit 0

  • How to configure multiple IP addresses on one NIC?

    Hi,
I just installed a OVM Server in version 3.2.1 and the according VMManager. Now i wanted to try to configure the Server/Server Pool. Now i come across a problem, which was already a big problem in OVM 2 while configuring the Networks.
All our OVM Servers have three NICs in them. One is for VMs and Management, the others are for connection to our SAN (Dell PowerVault MD 3220i). My problem is, that due to the network setup, the two NICs for storage need two IP addresses in two different networks each. This shouldn't be a problem, because usually in linux all you have to do is configure something like eth1:1. I remember having huge trouble configuring it in our OVM 2 cluster up to the point where I had to write a shell script to configure the second IP.
Anyways, I have configured two of the storage networks on eth1 and eth2 of the VM Server. Now i cannot configure any more IP addresses, because eth1 and eth2 are not available anymore for configuration in a third network. I really hoped that it would be possible in OVM 3 to configure multiple IP addresses. And probably it is only my lack of knowledge of how to configure it.
So any advice is well appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Regards,
    Marek Hubatka

You should be able to do this by using "VLAN Groups".
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E35328_01/E35332/E35332.pdf
Check out the VLAN groups section. You must great the VLAN groups before you can assign them to interfaces.

  • RetrorespectiveActivation of Multiple Form 16 in mid- of the financial year

    Hi All,
We have mainatined TAN as per the company Code in feature 40ECC. Now we want to have multiple Form 16 if there is change in company Code of an employee for the financial year 2009.
We have not activated Multiple Form 16 Switch so far. Now in the last month of financial Year 2009 that in March'2010 (period 12/2009) we want to activate Multiple Form 16 switch from 01.04.2009. After activation Multiple form 16 Switch, we are planning to trigger retro for all employees from 01.04.2009.
But we are not very much sure what will be the impact of activating Multiple Form 16 switch now in the last period of the financial year.
Required your valuable inputs on this.
    Thanks,
    Ravinder

    Hi,
Check whether multiple Form 16 switch is active or not.
In case this is active, then the Form 16 will be generated as under:
Company A - showing earnings from 01.04.08 to 31.12.08 only
Company B - showing earnings from 01.01.09 to 31.03.09 as current earnings and from 01.04.08 to 31.12.08 as income from previous employment.
In case multiple Form 16 is not active, then the Form 16 that you are getting is correct. However, in this case you need not print the Form 16 of company A. Only the Form 16 from the company code where the employee belongs to as on 31.03.2009 (i.e. last day of the FY) will be printed. And in this case the Form 16 will include complete earnings from 01.04.2008 to 31.03.2009 as current earnings.
    Hope this clarifies your query.

  • How top open multiple forms at the same time in HRMS menu

    Hi,
When enabling "Close Other forms" in HRMS menu by excluding the function ‘Navigator: Disable Multiform’ Function in the Responsibility Definition (System Administrator -> Security -> Responsibility -> Define), mutliple forms works fine but I'am facing another error.
My problem is: when this option is enabled, I tried to run Payroll run request but it turned out that payroll list of values is returning empty values and I'am unable to select any payroll from list of values. the only way to do so is to remove back ‘Navigator: Disable Multiform’ Function from exclusion section in responsibility.
My requirment is: to have multiple form and payroll run list of values working at the same time
    Thanks

Reason for this , if ur request is attached to more than 1 responsibility , i think this issue will come , we got same issue
we remove it from responsibility list , then it is working fine

  • How to pass a parameter from a report to multiple forms in the same page

    Hi:
i have a report and a lot of forms in the same page. The fact is that i want to stablish a link over a filed in the report which would make some information appear in those forms so that information could be updated. For example: i have a report with company names. Over those names i want to put a link. When the link would be pressed the forms would reflect the information about that comany. Is this possible to be done? how can i do this or something similar?
    Thanks.
    Regards. Urko.

Please see post Re: session state security
It has been done for a single form in a page and can be extended to multiple forms as well.

  • Generate and Print Preview Multiple Forms in a Single PDF

There have been other questions similar to this but none directly address my problem.  We have the need to generate multple forms in a .pdf using Adobe interactive forms.  We can generate the multiple forms, but the user has to click on each form to view.  They want to have the forms in a single document that they can scroll through before printing.  We can do this in SmartForms but need to do it in Adobe.  Does anyone know how to generate multiple forms, either multiple copies of the same form or various forms, from an ABAP program into a single pdf that can be print previewed, in scrollable form, by the user?

I can describe it one more time, I think:))
You have multiple options, but only one "reasonable" within SAP.
You can call an external application (through command line etc.) to concatenate forms for you.
You can use iText as mentioned in the thread, and write yourself a "tool" which will concatenate the forms for you.
Both these "options" would not be acceptable for my clients, I name them to help you get the whole picture.
Then there is the third option: use a form for a single instance (template/ form A) and create a new form (form B), where you will use the A template:
    - you need to: create a new interface where everything from the old interface is a row of the table (example: you have a form to print out the personal card of the employee, so in a new form you will need to use a table, where a row is an employee)
    - you need to create a new form layout based on the new interface:
in this new layout you will paste the whole layout of the old form (A/ single instance) and wrap it into a subform. The added subform will work as a table (you will bind that to the table from interface) and everything from the old template within this new subform will work as a "row" (something what you can repeat for each data item).
    Does that sound reasonable?
    Cheers Otto

    Hi ZSOLT,
In order to call the form multiple times please do the following,
    1) Just before your FP_JOB_OPEN you need to pass the output parameters (good practice). You can also set other parameters as well (for example nodialog, preview, copies., etc)
      CLEAR  fp_outputparams.
      fp_outputparams-dest = 'PDF1'.      "Default pdf printer
      fp_outputparams-reqnew = 'X'.       "New spool request
Now call your FM FP_JOB_OPEN with the above output parameters.
    2) Usually this step is processed in a loop. (getting your interface data into a internal table and then looping at it)
But here I am enhancing your example code.
In order to trigger the form multiple times you need to change some input data to the form (for example I have changed date and time below in the prepare test data sections) so that the call function fm_name gets regenerated every time there is new data

  • How to configure multiple clusters on the same machine.

I could start only one listener for one database instance at any given point of time. Therefore, I am unable to use the other application.
Can any one please help me in configuring this appropriately so that both the applications can talk to their respective databases?
    Waiting for your kind replies.
    Regards,
    Syed

Syedit's better to configure a single listener . Configuring multiple listener will increased system resource usage. Multiple listener may be helpful in case of RAC .
