Configuring Oracle EAServer 10g 10.1.2.0.2 with Eclipse

Hi ,
Am working on a JAVA/J2EE/Struts application using Eclipse 3.1 and am using
Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Application Server 10.1.2.0.2 for deploying the application. Currently am building my application to an ear file and then deploying it manually on the Application Server control to run it every time. Becouse of this am not able to debug the application through eclipse. I need to know whether we can configure Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g 10.1.2.0.2 Enterprise Application Server with Eclipse 3.1 just as we are doing with eclipse tomcat or eclipseweblogic so that i can directly run or debug the application from Eclipse instead of creating a an ear and deploying it to the server to run it. Am using Oracle application server for the first time.
I tried searching but couldnt find any relevant document /info on this. I got some info on configuring Oracle 10g Application Server 10.1.3 with eclipse,but none about 10.1.2.0.2.
Any help regarding this is appreciated
Thanks in advance
grate

Hi Steve,
Thanks for your reply. Am new to Oracle application server. The version that i mentioned ie. 10.1.2 was already installed in my laptop when i got it for working. Am configuring the deployment and JNDI services after i start the sever and bring up the server control through IE after entering the username and password. So i couldnt understand the relevance of a standalone server at this point, and i am new to the name OC4J , why is it called so?(am sorry if am asking any stupid question, but to be frank i dont know any thing about oracle application server untill i came across it recently ) . The document that you followed is the same one that me too found while searching in net. But i couldnt follow the steps becouse in eclispe when i tried to configure the server runtime its throwed error saying it couldnt find any folder in the 10.1.2 installion directory named "...../home/j2ee" . But there was a folder called J2ee in my oracle installion folder so i just tried to map it, but it again throwed error saying "couldnt find asm.jar in j2ee/lib " . So am stuck up at this point.Should i go for oracle 10.1.3 or OC4J as you mentioned? Please give me some insights regarding this.

  • [Secure Configuration] Oracle Reports 10g Email Configuration...

    Hi Everyone,
    In oracle Reports 10g, we have an option of sending mail as an attachment using destype = mail and desname = [email protected] For this to happen we have to add the outgoing mail server name in the <report server>.conf file. Once we configure this setting, end-users can send any report to any mail-id. So, how to make an secured configuration so that they can send only those allowed reports?
    Note: We have already many reports which are already deployed. So we cant incorporate the validation or some logic within the each report.

    hello dsegard,
    Thanks for you help. I tried the way which you had said. I have incorporated the security tag in the conf file and included the XMLSecurity Project( Deployed the JAR file and done necessary configuration). Now, I dont know how to use it.
    Is there any alternative way for this? Is there any way that we can remove the default options provided by the Oracle Reports under the Destype?

  • Install and configure Oracle AS 10g Business Intelligence Comp with SSO

    Hi,
    Present setup:
    We have a Red hat Linux 3.0 ES (update 4).
    Netgrity from Site minder installed over windows server for signle sign on.
    Oracle 9i release 2 database on a separate Windows server
    What i need:
    I want to install Oracle Application Sever Business Intelligence Components 10G over the linux and configure with Netegrity Single Sign on. I am not clear what is the installation process and what is the sequence of installation and configuration.
    Can anyone help me with the Installation process and sequence.
    What should be the sequence is it like below ?
    1) first install the Oracle AS 10g Infrastructure over the Linux
    2) Secondly install the Oracle Application Sever Business Intelligence Components 10G and integrate with Infrastructure
    3) Configure with SSO
    or only install the Oracle Application Sever Business Intelligence Components 10G and Configure with SSO is enough ?
    Any help in the installation process and sequence of instlallation and how to configure for external single Sign on.
    Thanks..

    When you want to have SSO you definitly need the infrastructure as the SSO is managed in there.
    So first install the infrastructure, then the middle tier (BI components) and then configure the SSO for the BI components.
    When this is up and running you have to configure the integration with the SiteMinder. Check out the OID admin guide and the SSO admin guide.

    First when I set up Oracle XE with "/etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure" the system stop on "listener starting" during several minutes.

    So I supose that Oracle don't work.
    Finally, when I use web navigator with "http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex" adress, the navigator shows "page not found".

  • Oracle 9i/10G DB authentication using Active Directory (with out OID)

    Hello All,
    We want to use a Single-Password authentication scheme using the Active
    Directory as the primary source for userId/Password.
    We don't want to use the Active Directory and OID bridge.
    As we have many databases and would like to configure all Databases to use Active
    Directory for Authentication. Our goal is to have single id/password across all
    the databases and any user should be able to login from any computer using their
    windows id/password, note that we don't want to use the OSAuthentication.
    We have read the documents provided by oracle for authentication using Active
    Directory, we were able to create Oracle Schema in Active Directory and were
    also able to register a DB with Active Directory and then created user as global
    user in Oracle Database and provided the DN of the user. When we tried
    authenticate with all this setup it comes back and says invalid ID/Password !!!
    And with 10G database we get the Oracle Error ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel !!
    Has any one tried or have information on Integrating Oracle to Auth against Active Directory?
    Envoirnment:
    Oracle DB Version: 9.2.0 and also tried on 10.0.1 with same results
    Operating System: Windows 2000/ Windows 2000 Server
    Constraint: We don't want to user OID ( as we don't have license for this
    product ! )

    I have a thread started similar to your request.
    OS Authenication on Windows
    Somewhere I read this. It works on Oracle 9i on Linux, but I have not tried it with Oracle 9i on Windows.
    SHOW PARAMETER OS_AUTHENT_PREFIX;
    SHOW PARAMETER REMOTE_OS_AUTHENT;
    CREATE USER OPS$SOMEUSER IDENTIFIED EXTERNALLY;
    GRANT CREATE SESSION TO OPS$SOMEUSER;
    For the username, I wonder if we are supposed to put the Windows Domain name as part of the username? Such as, for a Windows domain user MyDomain\SomeUser
    CREATE USER OPS$MYDOMAIN\SOMEUSER IDENTIFIED EXTERNALLY;
    I really wish Oracle or somebody created a guide or book on how to do this.

    Yes, regular auditing features are available at Oracle XE. Once you have configured your audit trail, just issue the audit command to start auditing focused areas.

  • Configure Oracle BBDD to work with Windows KDC

    Hi all,
    I'm having problems in configure Oracle 11g running in Windows 2003 Server R2 with another W2003 Server R2 where AD is located and also KDC server.
    The problem is when I try to retrieve TG initial ticket using okinit.
    Output of okinit after enter password for PRINCIPAL is:
    okinit: Improper format of configuration file
    My krb5.conf is:
    [libdefaults]
    default_realm = DM.LOCAL
    [realms]
    PERICO.DM.LOCAL = {
    kdc = perico.DM.local
    [domain_realm]
    .dm.local = DM.LOCAL
    dm.local = DM.LOCAL
    where DM.local is DOMAIN name and perico.DM.local is the host with AD and KDC server.
    I can resolve full names of kdc server or BBDD server by .../etc/hosts and Net Manager has the rights values in KERBEROS5 parameters.
    I don't know what or where to look for solving the problem.
    any Idea?
    Thanks in advance.

    If kinit is working correctly, try the workaround for bug 9450931: add "kerberos5" as service alias for krb5.
    Another tell-tale sign is the fact you upgraded a perfectly working 10G install to 11G, and this broke.

  • Configuring Forms Builder 10g to run (Ctrl-R) against application server

    I would like to run forms from my working directory against our development application server and config, rather than having a local OC4J running. I have configured this by setting the application server URL runtime preference to "http://<server>.<domain>:80/forms/frmservlet?config=dev". This works fine.
    However, when I run the Form, I get "FRM-40010: Cannot read form H:\Neil\TAF00180.fmx". This is because we open our FMBs from a locally mapped drive (i.e. I opened the FMB from H:\Neil\TAF00180.fmb). When run against the application server it seems Forms Builder trys to run an executable with the same path as the FMB - H:\Neil\TAF00180.fmx, but the application server has no knowledge of a mapped H-drive.
    The only solution I can think of is to have an H-drive mapped on the application server to the same location as our locally mapped network drive.
    This doesn't seem like the correct solution to me. How should we configure Oracle Forms 10g and the application server to allow us to run our own working versions against the applications server and config?

    Slava Natapov wrote:
    I guess Neil concern is that OC4J and Forms Server are using own formsweb.cfg and .env files
    And settings can be different.
    For example what if local formsweb.cfg configured to run Jinitiator, but server formsweb.cfg configured for JPI, or they configured with different lookandfeel parameter, or local and server default.env use different NLS_DATE_FORMAT?Hi Slava, Hi Neil
    I think this is more related to "discipline" for the developers....
    @ Neil : How many developers do you have in your team ?
    Are developers allowed to "customize" their formsweb.cfg and .env files ?
    or more customized basejinit.htm, registry.dat, additional jar files ... etc
    or more using different oracle_home for their installation of Developer Suite.
    @ Slava : Using local formsweb.cfg and .env files might not be a problem if every developer machine is installed the same way (i.e. the same oracle_home).
    Also, I don't think that using workingDirectory to network shared connection for each developer is a solution
    [dev1]
    workingDirectory= H:/dev1
    [dev2]
    workingDirectory= H:/dev2
    And at least this is requiring customized *.env files ! as the forms_path should be set for runtime in it for each developer.
    The registry entry is only for the builder to find the path to mmb and pll files for example, and compile well, but the runtime is using *.env files.
    And what about developing in windows and deploy it to linux ?
    I recently managed a project with junior and undisciplined developers. The boss had the same concern about each network drive per developer.
    My concern was how to eliminate all subjective considerations..
    And my answer was "Subversion" no mess with local or network version with the "copy of the copy of the copy of the fmb files".
    So all forms_path were set to C:\myApp\forms etc and each developer made a checkout and commit versions twice a day.
    And the Application Server was also "checked out" to have the latest revision and then ran it into a pre-version for production.
    If I had to make some important changes in the *.olb file or the *.pll files then I made a commit for all developers and then re-compile all *.fmb and re-commit and checkout again.
    I really don't matter if the developer used jinitiator or jpi but the right working copy.
    And standalone OC4J was enough to make basics tests for each developer.
    More tests were made by project managers at the application server level and then adjustments (if required) where sent to developers.
    Hope this helps.

    Jean-Yves

    I want to run report from Oracle 10g reports to be sent as email attachement to differnt people with their respective personal content.
    The first problem is to know how to configure Oracle reports 10g to be able to send output to email address.

  • Oracle Siebel 8 adapter on Oracle WebLogic 10g

    Hi everybody,
    I need to install the new Oracle Service Bus 10g and to integrate with Siebel 8. So what I need is off course the bus and the adapter. I've a list of questions that raised during my initial research:
    1- Is it possible to install Oracle AS adapters on Oracle WebLogic 10g? I've tried to download the adapter and the only option was "adapters 101202" which require Oracle Home directory which is not available with Oracle WebLogic Installation.
    2- Is there a new version of Bea WebLogic adapters? The current documentation within edocs site support Siebel 7.7 and it is only available for WebLogic 9.1
    3- Where can I find installation guide for Oracle AS adapters?
    4- When navigating through http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/integration/adapters/index.html the "Download Oracle Integration Adapters" directed me to download Oracle WebLogic 10g r3 server. I went with the download and installed WebLogic 10g, but there were no adapters included. Is it only a mistaken link or it might contain the adapters for WebLogic 10g somewhere?
    Thanks in advance
    Tari

    Hi Brian,
    Generally the behavior you mentioned occurs when SRProc and SRBroker is unable to connect to Database.
    Please Check Following.
    1. Is Siebel Gateway Running Successfully? Please verify that Siebel Gateway listening on Standard port 2320. You can verify this by following command.
    netstat -na | grep 2320
    or
    ps -aef | grep siebns
    2. Change directory to <SIEBEL_ROOT>/siebsrvr/enterprises/<ENT_NAME>/<APP_SRVR>/log directory.
    3. Do you see any logs here? If yes, please let me know the errror message in logs.
    Hope this helps. All the best.
