Conflict using simultaneously IVI Switch and Switch Executive ?

Hi,
I use IVI Switch and Switch Executive libraries in an Labwindows CVI project, and I meet some problems :
I call SE lib for InitSession/CloseSession/FindRoute and Connect/Disconnect (apply to any switch devices in the SE configuration).
I call IVI Switch lib for SelfTest and Reset (apply to a single device).
But when I do an IVI Switch Reset then a Switch Executive Connect or Disconnect, an error occurs : Switch Executive seems to ignore what IVI Switch operations do to the device ?
Also, can you tell me if :
niSE_OpenSession performs a self test for the devices in the config ? A reset ?
niSE_CloseSession performs a reset for the devices in the config ?

the niSE session talks to underlying IVI drivers using the IVI Switch session underneath, so any additional opening of IVI Switch session to the same device will cause the two driver sessions (that keep the information about the state of the hardware connections) to be either one or both out of synch with the actual hardware state). Because of the architecture of the underlying IVI drivers, niSE session cannot know if and what someone did to the instrument using IVI Switch session.
Therefore, it is not adviseable to use IVI Switch session while having another session open to the same device. If you need to use the invasive operations - which is anything that changes the state of the device, such as Reset and possibly self-test (self-test may be implemented as an operation that cycles relays and it may not but you can't be sure), you must make sure that one session is open and closed before another type of session is open.
The ni Switch Executive Open Session calls IviSwtch_init (with ID Query and Reset set to true) and CloseSession closes the IVI Switch sessions with the call to Close. The niSE session does not make calls to either reset or self-test explicitly.
Always attempt to perform all the operations on the same piece of hardware using the same API. If you need to reset switches, use the niSE_DisconnectAll function. If you need to perform the self-test operation, open a session to IVI Switch and perform the self-test, and then close it before opening the session to niSE virtual device.
There is also a back-door possibility that you can obtain the IVI Switch session that has been open for the constituent devices by niSE, but you must make sure that whatever you do with that session leaves the state of the switch intact when you get back to making calls to the niSE session. If unsure, you can always call niSE_DisconnectAll() as the first thing coming back to the niSE session to ensure that the state stored in niSE session matches the state on the actual hardware.
Again, it is best not to use both sessions, but rather pick one and try to perform all operations with it before switching to another type of session.

BI UDI data load conflict using MS SQL Server and date fields

Hi BW Experts!
We have found some unexpected problems when we are trying to perform a data extraction process from an SQL database (non-SAP application).
We are using the BI UDI tool (JDBC Driver/Connector).    The basic data extraction works properly, however we have some specific problems to work with SQL Server fields defined as Date Time.
The JDBC driver automatically intermediate the communication and translate these fields splitting the original SQL date time field into two separated fields with suffix _D (for date) and _T (for time).
It works perfect for extraction, but it doesnt work well when we try to restrict the data selection based on these fields.
When we put a date selection into the infopackage data selection area (we already have tried several date formats), the system simply ignores these selection parameters and send a SQL statement without WHERE clause to DBMS.
Please, anybody has experienced anything like this or know somethings that could help us?
This is a standard limitation from SAP BI UDI?

These are 2 different systems (hardware & software) which actually do the same job, they produce transactions for a common business entity. Kind of, both sell tickets for the same ABC ferry company.
I can not put them side by side on the dashboard, as I need to aggregate the data and present it maybe in a Oracle BI Report for Accounting and Financial reconciliation purposes.
The truth is, as it is. I can't change it, is too late.
I have to device a way to harvest both systems as they are. I don't want to move around data. I thought looking at Oracle BI I could write SQL against multiple Data Sources. I am struggling to find a way. As it seems that it can "SQL query" 1 data source at a time.

Shame, I have to pay licenses for OWB and Oracle Transparent Gateways. I thought DB vendors can do better. Why do I have to pay to access the other 50% of the market.
I can understand the performance implications this might have. Because of it I might even be forced at the end to move data (ETL) into a separate database, slice it into partitions and manage it that way. Pitty because currenlty I only need one report out of these systems but seems like will be dear to get.

I was working with vijay in support but i lost him. anyway my problem is with tools in ps 2014. when i click on the delta, it doesn't reveal the tools underneath. im using a mac btw, and switched from a wireless mouse to a wired. doesnt help?

You do not single-click on the tool's triangle. You hold down the trackpad or mouse button on the tool itself (in the Toolbox) until the tools menu flies out.
Also Shift + tool shortcut will change tools for you. Shift + M for the different Marquee tools.

Using simultaneous 30" Cinema *AND* internal 17" laptop screen

I did look on the forum first, but I want to do this w/my 17" MBP 233:
* Hook up my 30" Apple monitor
* Use the k/b mouse on the laptop
* Use the display from the laptop lcd *at the same time* - in other words, two displays at once
If I can use them at the same time, which one gets the "desktop" environment? (menus, icons etc)?
Is there enough memory on the video card to do both? That 30" is like 2600x1600 or so.
Can I switch the "main" screen between the two?
And finally, how do I drag from one screen to the other? I remember Windoz had a feature like this, I'm assuming the Macs do also...

No problem. You can do all that stuff. Just hook it up, & pay a visit to the Displays Preference Pane, where it will all become obvious. I know, because I just tried it recently with my new MBP.

Can I use simultaneous lightning connection and bluetooth for sound?

i bought a brooks mini beamer and a bluettot speaker. The speaker can also be connected using a jack. Why do this if there is bluetooth available.
Unfortunately my Iphone will only direct the sound to either the lightning connector (to the beamer) or to bluetooth speaker (and disconnects even the video send to the beamer).
any solutions?
I can plug the jack in the beamer as a plan B though.

Whether the device supports bluetooth or not has nothing to do with plugging an audio cable in and sending audio to it.
The iPhone will direct audio where the user instructs it to do so.
Swipe up from the bottom to bring up Control Panel.
Select the output option and direct audio where you desire.
For what silly reason would anyone connect a bluetooth audio transmitter to an iPhone? They have bluetooth built in.

Cisco 3850 Switch and Windows 7 IP Conflicts

Last evening (Christmas eve) we setup a pair of Cisco 3850 with IP Base version 3.3.35SE (recommended) and 3.7.0E (very latest).
We got these to replace a very old switch that had died. Attached to this network are windows 7 PC's with all the standard patches, service packs, etc.
with standard port configs - no PC would work - and in fact on each screen we got the windows 7 IP Conflict pop up box.
This seemed very odd to us, as we know these IP's are all static (no dhcp on this segment at all)
we went with a very vanilla config on each port
interface g1/0/1
switchport host
that is it - nothing special at all.
well, after hours of research we found the 3850 has a problem where its "ip device tracking" (even though disabled, by way of NOT being enabled on any interface) will effect the windows 7 PC's ip address in use detection port start up phase!
This is a very big problem. I am frankly SHOCKED Cisco would release a major switch that is going to not work when connected to the average network with windows 7 PC's.
we tried 3+ hours of prescribed work-arounds found when researching this issue -
ip device tracking probe delay 10 (global config)
ip device tracking max 0 (disabed, on interface)
finally,
nmsp attach suppress (interface, however this appears to be a default command in all IOS-XE versions we tried, as the command did NOT show in the show run) . this effected many different nic card vendors (laptops, desktops) and nic card drivers levels from old to very recent.
Finally,
we compared a 3850 in another location to this one - and we never got HIT by this problem before because that 3850 only as TRUNK ports and no windows 7 hosts directly attached.
Doing more research, I found out this also can effect vmware guests running windows SERVER.
this is now a huge issue as we have a scheduled deployment of 3850's throughout our network which is going to be put on hold.
the work-around I came up with which is not great is -
Make ALL the "access" ports connected to PC TRUNK ports and leave the NATIVE vlan (untagged) as the vlan you want the PC's to be in
interface g1/0/1
switchport mode trunk
switchport trunk native vlan 1
this is NOT an acceptable workaround as this presents security issues even with
switchport trunk allowed vlan 1, etc. as the only allowed vlan.
Note: this issue manifested itself and windows 7 PC's were UNABLE to use the network. if you do "ipconfig /all | more" you would see
192.168.0.140(duplicate) and the interface would actually use 169.254.0.239(duplicate) so the duplicate message appeared twice in the output.
1) With and without an SVI interface on each 3850 for the vlan where the windows 7 machines had a duplicate
2) when we had an SVI and the command ip device tracking probe use-svi (or whatever the hidden command is I forget now, but it took it)
3) when we had aaa new-model configured - and not configured - thinking this was some artifact of having aaa turn on something like 802.1x port state
4) when could confirm NO DHCP SNOOPING
5) when we DID not use static IP's - and had the switch assign DHCP addresses - the Windows 7 PC's STILL had duplicates and didnt work for their "Just leased" ip's.
6) when we could confirm ios-xe ip device tracking = disabled with show ip device tracking status, etc.
This is a major problem for this 3850 and unless we get a definitive answer on why this is happening and how we can rectify we are going to have to return our 3850's and get HP Procurve's something I would rather avoid doing. There is NO REASON I can imagine other than older switches who's ports default to ROUTED ports (i.e.. no ip switchport) where a switch should not at least function as a bare switch with essentially a default configuration out of the box.
Any ideas? I'm working well now with the ports ALL in trunking mode with vlan 1 native, but this is not a scalable workaround we can live with as we have security risks of a port not blocking certain vlans from going out ports to pc's, etc. that attackers could send tags on at that point, etc.

yes a 10 year old Allied Telesyn switch was replaced that had no config - like a hub, just used for connectivity.
Are these 3850's in a stack?

no ip address on g0/0/0 -> the default 3850 management interface hard assigned to the 3850 VRF you cant remove.

IVI questions with DMM and SWitch

I am trying to simulate an NI-4060 DMM and numerous SCXI-1129 cards using the IVI drivers in CVI.
Of preference I want to setup the simulation in MAX rather than programmatically in my application. I have numerous questions:
Is there a document that shows you how to setup MAX to simulate an IVI instrument??? Everything that I have read so far talks about the architecture, how wonderful IVI is what you can do etc, but NOT EXACTLY HOW you set-up MAX - one document briefly touched on this but with no detail whatsoever. There seems to be a lot of assumed knowledge in all the docs.
If I try and configure in MAX I can get the DMM working, but the exact same steps give an error for the switch cards in my application. An
y ideas?
How do I use Soft-panels from my application?
If I am programmatically using an InitWithOptions which seems to be the only way to get the Switch cards to simulate what is the expected syntax or options for the "DriverSetup" string????
I am using NI-DAQ 6.9.0f7 and IVI 1.61 with CVI 5.5 on NT 4.0

How do I use switch and case statements to fill more than one other field?

Hi all,
I'm new to the community.
I'm trying to make an existing form more user friendly for my coworkers. I want to use a switch and case approach in a drop-down list field so that the selection fills two seperate other fields with different info related to the selection.
I can already do this with one field, but if I add a second target field under an existing case the text doesn't appear there when I make the selection from the dropdown.
Basically, I'm asking if I can do this:

It works if the "row1.field2" option isn't there, but not when it is present.

Add-ons contain a range of compatible Firefox versions, and Firefox honors the listed range by disabling the add-on if you are trying to run it on an unlisted version.
I'm sure Yahoo! will update its toolbar eventually, but not every add-on maker supports beta versions of software.

Try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear and it should reboot - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Use wireless router with existing network and switch?

I have an existing network using a T1 into a switch; all the computers and the server are connected to the switch. Some distance away, via ethernet cable to the switch, I would like to connect a wireless router, one computer wired to that router, and other computers connect via wireless. Our server provides DHCP. Is this possible? How best to do it? Which Linksys router would be best for the purpose? Thanks for the help!

The "correct" device to use would be a wireless access point like the Linksys WAPs and not a WRT router. WRT routers are supposed to connect to the internet on its own.
You can set up a WRT router as simple access point. see here for the setup.
The best router is the one which best suits your needs. All wireless routers and access point provide wireless access. It depends on what you want (802.11n, 11b, 11g, range, speed, etc.). The newer routers are better from the specifications but usually also have more firmware bugs. But that's pretty much all one can say based on your generic requirements.
