Confused Regarding SAP XI Pre requiste

Hi all,
       Many of the threads has all the information that ......particularly sravya blog.....all says ...that SAP XI has no pre requiste.........
        am still not able to understand that ..what are the concets we need in ABAP or java exactly if we want to enter into this field.
         I apologize if am asking a regular question......As i was confused and am not able to decide which i have to learn before going to start my career in SAP XI.. and also i have knowledge on basic concepts of SAP ..please help me out how to start .please explain me in detail..please don't give links..i confused by all the blogs..please explain me....in details....sorry if i troubles u all....

Let me try to explain you in detail:
Q. Why Java and ABAP?
Ans. XI (now PI) is built on Java and ABAP stack, so knowledge of both will help you immensely to understand the working, tracing the error and building scenarios.
Like, for example XI's Integration Server (i.e. XI as a system) has three major components inside it, namely Adapter Engine (Based on Java), ccBPM engine (ABAP stack) and Integration Engine (Both ABAP and Java Stack)
Q. Is there any area where we would not need the knowledge on Java or ABAP?
Ans. While Designing message mappings, exposing Webservices, designing ccBPM scenarios, what you will need is a good knowledge of SOAP, XSDs, XML, WSDL, XSLT etc, i.e. you need to have a feel of open standards to understand how XI works and where it is placed architecturally.
Q. Where do I need Java knowledge the most?
Ans. As I am unaware of your technological background, let me assume that you know nothing of SAP.
       So, if you have a descent knowledge and exposure of Java, it would help you to:
       a) Understand and resolve errors and issues in XI (mainly based on Java)
       b) Enhance the capabilities of Adapters (nothing but complex java programs)
       c) Enhancing Message Mappings (by writing Java based 'user defined functions')
       d) Writing mapping programs exclusively in Java (Java message mapping)
       e) Writing Java code to connect to any Java application (known as Java Proxies)
Q. Where do I need ABAP knowledge the most?
Ans. XI or PI is a middleware, i.e. it interacts with applications or systems at both the ends. Primarily one of the end (back end) is SAP R/3 or ECC (advance version of SAP R/3) box. Here your knowledge in ABAP comes handy. Communication between XI and SAP takes place using core SAP technologies or formats like IDoc, RFCs or plain ABAP code (known as proxies).
       Also you need to have an average knowledge of SAP ABAP (Advance Business Application Programming Language), a 4th generation language to be able to trace erros and build customized programs in SAP environment.

As regards to S-Curve. I am not sure on this, but please go to CNE5 and select the graphical representation. You may get what you are looking for. Try for select all the relavant fields and see the graphs ( Total curves, Correlations etc ).

For some archiving actions it is necessary to select individual archive files or whole archive sessions and make them available for the relevant action. You do this in the Archive Selection screen, which is accessible from the initial screen of the relevant action.
Archive selection is relevant for the following actions:

Prerequisites
Depending on the action, there are four different criteria for whether archiving sessions and archive files are displayed in the archive selection:

If a file is not accessible in the file system, the file is not offered for selection. A file is only offered for read if all the files in a session are accessible.
While checking the accessibility of a file, the system performs a read access for each file. This check process can take a long time if there are a lot of files. To optimize this process the access check can be de-/activated according to archive files in file system and archive files in an optical archive in archiving object-specific Customizing.
Criterion 4
For client-dependent archiving objects only the sessions for the current client are offered.
Criterion 5
An archiving session can only be reloaded if it has the status Complete or Archiving session is reloaded.
Features
In the Archive Selection screen, which you can access by choosing Archive Selection from the initial screen of the archiving action, you can either select complete archive sessions or individual archive files.

Confuse between SAP Kernel and SAP Installation file

Dears:
My CPU is ADM 64 bit, but when i try to download the ECC5 which will be installed in linux 32 bit system from SAP site, i find the confuse between SAP Kernel and SAP instllation file.
1. In the ECC5 download page, i can see lots of oracle download file, some named DVD ORACLE RDBMS 10.2 LINUX_IA32 1 of 4 , some named Oracle 10.2.0.2. for LINUX32. So if the LINUX_IA32 is only for the CPU which is Itanium CPU?
2. I check the sap update kernel, SAP Kernel 32 bit unicode is devided by sap kernel 6.4 320-bit unicode---Linux on IA 32-bit, so if my CPU is AMD 64 bit, but my os is Linux 32 bit, if the upgrade kernel file Linux on IA 32-bit can be used for Linux 32 bit system whith 64 bit CPU, or if the Linux on IA 32-bit is just for Itanium CPU?

I just checked the pam again, and it looks like i got it wrong. There is still 32-bit available for ECC5.
ORACLE 10.2 LINUX REDHAT EL5/IA32 32BIT 24.07.2007 Released SAP KERNEL 6.40 32-BIT
So technically it should be possible to install it the way you wanted. Sorry for my misleading post (but hey you should still consider using 64-bit :-).

forms into a single spool request use START_FORM and END_FORM.

is determined by the order of the WRITE_FORM statements. Note: for printing lines in the body, you

CPO SAP Adapter pre-requisite Check Error

TEO 2.3.5 SAP adpater Pre-requisite Error
 Trying to setup an SAP ABAP connection. Satisfied the pre-requisite of SAP NCO sapnco30dotnet40P_7-20007348, still get the following error while checking the pre-requisite.
Unable to check for prerequisites:
A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond

Please open a TAC case. They can not only get you past the missing prerequisite, but also raise the issue on the bad prerequisite detection error which you are seeing so we can get it fixed in the product.

actually i dont have any real time exposure in Enterprise portal ...in coming days my KT(knolwedge transfer) will be start ...pls share me the kt template related to sap enterpise portal ...what are the things do i need to ask on that kt? and what are things do i expect from that KT?.........................please help me out ...

So if you have NWBC, I understand from this discussion, that you do not need the SAP Portal. If that is the case,
(1) how can users working from home or from anywhere else have access to NWBC? Is it as easy as accessing a website? or do they have to first go through the company's firewall.
(2) If they can access it directly, do home users need special software on their PC e.g. SAP Gui etc??
(3) What would be the main reason why a company may not want to use NWBC but use the Portal.

I would like to know, whether the requirements below can be realizied with the SAP XI. Can someone help me by answering the questions (with Yes/no and a short comment).
TECHNICAL SUPPORT OFFERINGS 
a) Training material for salespeople and administrators (videos, workbooks, etc)
b) Defined strategy for making future enhancements, including alignment with HP-UX verions, Microsoft Windows Server versions, and Oracle or Microsoft Database version
c) Defined process for how you handle system problems, problem escalation policies and procedures.
RELATIONAL DATABASE 
a) Does your system run native to the Oracle 10g RDBMS (RAC) and database tools? If not, please explain the databases and tools supported.
b) database monitoring tools be used to manage impending maintenance needs and potential problems and performance impacts (i.e., tool will monitor and detect prior to real problem occurring)
c) standard pre-defined SQL queries and related calculations provided for use with industry standard reporting tools
d) database accept binary-large-objects (BLOBs) and be referenced via the relational engine.

I am having 11 years experience in EHS field in heavy constructions.At present working as a EHS coordinator in MNC.Basically i am a Science Graduate and having Diplomas in Industrail Safety, Industrial Hygine, Environmental & ISO 14001, Process Management System.Now i am intrested on SAP EHS. Pls guide me in this regard. is it correct decision. and what about the future for SAP EHS? what is the requrirement qualifications for SAP EHS? Because i dont have any knowledge on IT. Pls guide and give your valuble advises friends.

Dear Reddy,
There are two aspects of becoming SAP EHS consultant. One is having good knowledge of day to day activities what are currently carried out in an industry and second is understanding the process flow when you use software to ensure smooth functioning. By seeing your mail it is very clear that you got very good domain knowledge. I have following to offer when it comes to becoming a SAP EH&S consultant
i) Get overall knowldege of SAP - SAP Overview course
ii) Take up some trainings available through SAP or Technidata on Basic Data and Tools and Product Satefy - which I believe are pre-requisite for other modules implementation.
iii) By seeing your profiles it seems you will fit into IH&S and OH or Environmental Compliance domains. So decide which is good for you, then I suggest you to go for appropriate training or read online documentation. Practice a lot - there is no substitute for this !!!!!
iv) Find some job in a company - then try to expand yourself for different modules.

Regarding SAP NW SDK,

Hi Gurus,
I have requirement like , Non SAP System ( VB.Net ) need to call the SAP sytem through a particular DLL and get the result from the SAP. I have Downloaded the SAP NW SDK 7.1
1) Now should i unzip this SDK on the SAP side or the Non SAP side.
2) Now where should I code the C++ Programs, should i use any external compilers.
I am totally confused, please get me the right direction to achieve this requirement.

Doubt regarding SAP Note application

Hi,
I have found SAP note 1051619 which needs to be applied in our R/3 4.6C system.
As per the note the corrections are delivered in Basis support package SAPKB46C55.
Our Production system is at support package SAPKB46C53.
At the moment we are not in position to apply the support packages due to certain business constraints.
The note mentions of corrections that are be applied.
However, we are confused of the language used regarding the validity of the note.
The corrections mentions of,
Valid to Support Package
46C 46C-SAPKB46C54
Please advise if the corrections can be applied to our system which is at Basis support package level SAPKB46C53.

Yes, this means that you may apply this correction, if you are on 46C, and your support package is not higher than SAPKB46C54. In other words, this is from SAPKB46C01 to SAPKB46C54, and so includes your SAPKB46C53.
