Connect output to input ?

Hi there,
Could someone tell me if it is possible to connect the output of the iMAC to the input channel of the same IMAC to record with soundtrack pro something that is being played on the IMAC ?
If yes, what kind of connector should I use ?
Thanks in advance
Ivan

You can do it. You'll need a cable with the same tip on both ends (1/8" to 1/8" AKA "minijack"). You'll have to mute the input sound to avoid feedback. Personally I would go the software route (AudioHijack Pro has a free trial for songs less than 10 min long).

  • Final cut 10.1 will not output or input thru Blackmagic intensity shuttle thunderbolt on 2013 Retina MBP while Premere Cs6 does

    Final Cut 10.1 will not output or input thru Blackmagic intensity shuttle thunderbolt on 2013 Retina MBP while Premere Cs6 does

    As I mentioned, Premere Cs6 has no issues with the BM Intensity Shuttle Thunderbolt. This proves that the Mac sees the shuttle. iMovie, like FCPX 10.1 does not see it. Not sure if this is an Apple issue or a BlackMagic issue. I plan to contact BlackMagic on Monday out of curiosity. This issue is more of a surprise than a dead end. Happily there are easy workarounds for capture. I use the BlackMagic software to capture. My main issue seems to be that I am unable to use FCPX to output through the Shuttle. Fortunately I have a Mac Pro and an older BlackMagic card which has worked. It is so very nice to skim video on an SSD.  No lag and no wear and tear on a mechanical hard drive. The 1Tb Apple SSD is shockingly fast. It is a new world.

    Try the above link. I know it is a screen-full, but is a search result for Matrikon. They have a whole slew of OPC servers/clients you can try out. Personally, I would go with their OPC server for the Mitsubishi, and use Labview Datasockets. That would be the simplest with the lowest learning curve.
    Otherwise, if you wish to use Modbus, you would have to get the commands/syntax from Mitsubishi; might be in their user manual, but I wouldn't lay bets on it. With the Matrikon stuff, the syntax is all built in.
    Good luck which ever way you decide to go.

  • Gamecenter connection denied after input the password

    HELP!!!!!!  gamecenter connection denied after input the password

    Do you have a shell initialization script for this remote account?
    Does this shell initialization script echo/print anything to standard out?  If so, this can totally screw up sftp or scp connections.
    Shell initialization files could be one of the following:
    .bash_profile
    .bash_login
    .profile
    .bashrc
    This assumes 'bash' is your shell (the Mac OS X deftaul).  If you have a different shell, the shell initialization file names would different.
    If you are using 'bash', try adding the following to the beginning of any 'bash' shell initialization script you are using
    [[ ${-#*i}  = ${-} ]] && return
    This will stop the bash shell initialization script from running when you are not doing an interactive login, such as sftp or scp.

  • I want to do output and input Surround Sound from my 2007 Mac Mini

    I thought I could output my Mac Mini audio with a Toslink OUT connection, but it turns out my Mini only has a Toslink IN connection- God knows why. I wanted to use the Toslink out to connect to a receiver, which I'd hoped would process my stereo mp3's into Surround using Pro Logic IIx or other codec. But it seems I have to use a regular Y-cable from my Mini's audio out to my receiver's analog RCA in, and hope it does the decoding. Could I then plug it back into the audio in and have the mp3s in surround that I could record? Also, instead of a simple Y-cable, I could use my USB iMic line-out/in (and mic IN by flipping a switch) to go out of the computer into the receiver, which should provide higher quality sound, and eventually plan on using an Apogee Duet audio interface/controller to output the sound to the receiver with even higher quality- BUT STILL, can I then plug the receiver into the Mini's toslink audio in and then have surround versions of my mp3s and other audio being entered back into the Mini. I used to have a M-Audio Sonica theater which I lost which had surround formats including DTS up to 7.1 Surround (but not PL IIx I don't think) and still have the software disc that came with it, but think it is useless without the Sonica Theater hardware and speakers with a hardware amp/decoder such as 5.1 hardware/speaker systems previously sold by Klipsch and Alesis. And I assume my receiver can do a better job implementing surround on stereo sources anyway, I just need to be sure it can be fed back into the Mini audio input for recording. Finally, if and when I get the Apogee Duet (2-in, 2-out line and mic interface/DAW controllerpreset to control GarageBand/Logic, but capable of controlling most all other music software with included software called Maestro), I only have one Firewire input, but also want a Firewire HD- is it true I can daisy-link devices together to control many Firewire devices from one input?) Thank you so much for any info that could assist me.

    If your mini is an Intel Core Duo 1.83 ghz model, it has optical audio out via a Toslink connector plugged into the audio output jack. You have to enable the optical output, and have a Toslink (optical audio) cable plugged in. Plug it all in then try setting your output with Audio MIDI Setup (in the Applications > Utilities folder).

  • Counter Output/Counter Input PXI Signals Behaving Erratically

    Question for all your LabVIEW guru's out there,
    I am running a frequency loopback test using the NI PXI 6229 MIO DAQ card.  I am generating a "Counter Output" pulse train signal which feeds through my device under test and then back out of my device under test and back into the PXI 6229 for a "Counter Input" frequency measurement.  Both the "Counter Output" and the "Counter Input" are assigned different PFI lines using DAQmx in LabVIEW.
    I have 4 lines to test on my DUT.  All four lines run this same frequency measurement but with different PFI lines on the PXI 6229.  Each line is test independently.
    This is my setup for the 4 lines:
    Path 1: P2.0 (Counter Output - Pulse Train) -> DUT (Device Under Test) -> P2.1 (Counter Input - Frequency Measurement)
    Path 2: P2.2 (Counter Output - Pulse Train) -> DUT (Device Under Test) -> P2.3 (Counter Input - Frequency Measurement)
    Path 3: P2.4 (Counter Output - Pulse Train) -> DUT (Device Under Test) -> P2.5 (Counter Input - Frequency Measurement)
    Path 4: P2.6 (Counter Output - Pulse Train) -> DUT (Device Under Test) -> P2.7 (Counter Input - Frequency Measurement)
    where:
    P2.0 = PFI8
    P2.1 = PFI9
    P2.2 = PFI10
    P2.3 = PFI11
    P2.4 = PFI12
    P2.5 = PFI13
    P2.6 = PFI14
    P2.7 = PFI15
    I have a LabVIEW VI which generates the "Counter Output" and reads the "Counter Input" frequency.  I am seeing weird behavior from the PXI 6229 card. I can test "Path 1" and "Path 2" and the frequency I read is what I generated. No issue there. However, when I test "Path 3" and "Path 4" the frequency measurement is erratic.  The readings are two different frequencies repeated over and over again and none of those frequencies are the expected frequency which was generated out of the "Counter Output."  If I reset the card, and start by testing "Path 3" and "Path 4" the frequency readings are correct and the erratic behavior is gone.  However, when I try to then test "Path 2" and "Path 1" now those lines have the erratic frequency issue. I can continue resetting the card and see same issue. The PFI lines that I test first will always pass.
    To summarize:
    Steps Taken:
    1. Test Path 1 = SUCCESS
    2. Test Path 2 = SUCCESS
    3. Test Path 3 = Erratic Frequency (Two Frequencies repeated over and over again in my frequency results array)
    4. Test Path 4 = Erratic Frequency (Two Frequencies repeated over and over again in my frequency results array)
    5. Reset the PXI 6229 Card
    6. Test Path 3 = SUCCESS
    7. Test Path 4 = SUCCESS
    8. Test Path 3 = Erratic Frequency (Two Frequencies repeated over and over again in my frequency results array)
    9. Test Path 4 = Erratic Frequency (Two Frequencies repeated over and over again in my frequency results array)
    I am wondering if Port 2 (P2.0-P2.7) on the 6229 card has certain dependecies and this is why I am seeing issues.  I am trying to get around this issue so that I don't have to always reset the card.
    Are P2.0-P2.3 (PFI8-PFI11) and P2.4-P2.7 (PFI12-PFI15) treated differently or require different setup?  How do I resolve this issue?
    Thanks so much!

    I have a theory...
    The DAQ card follows a policy called "lazy uncommit" wherein the terminal used for the output will continue to be connected to the counter even after the task has completed (until the terminal is needed for something else).  So as you run more tests, the counter output will end up driving more lines.  This behavior should be easy enough to confirm.
    As the DAQ card drives more lines, I'd imagine this affects the actual signal.  You could scope it to check, but it sounds like either the rise/fall times are becoming longer or some extra noise is being introduced on the line.
    The readings are two different frequencies repeated over and over again and none of those frequencies are the expected frequency which was generated out of the "Counter Output."
    This implies you are picking up an extra edge during transitions--this isn't too uncommon if the signal is noisy since there is no built-in hysteresis on the DAQ card.  I would expect the measured frequencies to have periods that sum to either the full period or the semi-period of your actual signal (depending on how many duplicate edges are detected).
    Suggestions are as follows:
    To stop the DAQ card from driving multiple PFI lines, it would probably be easiest to just programmatically reset the device in between your tests (using DAQmx Reset Device).  If you can't reset the device (e.g. because you are running some other task that can't be interrupted) then you can instead configure a dummy task that uses the PFI line in question as an input.
    To stop the DAQ card from picking up multiple edges during transitions, you should configure a digital filter on the input terminals.  If you reset the device it sounds like this might not be necessary... it's up to you if you want to configure this or not.

  • Add output or input to SubVi

    I need to add an input to a subvi. Is this possible?
    Cason Clagg
    SwRI
    LabView 7.1, Windows XP

    Quite possible.
    Go to the front panel, and right click on the VI icon (top right hand
    corner) and then click "edit connector".  LabVIEW automatically
    assigns the number of "boxes" in the connecter to the total number of
    controls/indicators on your front panel.  Indicators are
    considered outputs, while controls are considered inputs.  To wire
    a control as an input, click on one of the empty boxes in your
    connector, then click on the control you want to associate with that
    box, and the box should fill in whatever colour the control is (pink
    for string, etc.).  LabVIEW recommends adding more connector
    terminals than you need in case of future changes...
    Search the help on this...it explains it quite well.  Search for
    "Connector Pane"...it should bring up a lot of info for you.

  • How to change HDMI port settings from output to input to accept signals from cable/satellite box?

    I have a new dv8t Entertainment PC with the HP Integrated HDTVHybrid Tuner.  The instruction manual provides 2 ways to connect the laptop to a cable/satellite box:  (1) coax/rf; or (2) HDMI.  The coax is a no-brainer; got it up and running in 10 minutes.  However, I am unable to get it to work connecting the HDMI cable, as the HDMI port on the laptop appears to be stuck in output mode.  How do I change the configuration of the HDMI port to "input" so that it can accept signals from my cable box?

    Thank you Grant for the quick response. Well, it seems I don't know what I'm doing.
    So, Mac Pro doesn't have any video INPUTS just Outputs. CHECK.
    That is correct I have a six-input-port-selector with one input (SWITCH C2G). CHECK.
    What I want is to be able to toggle through the inputs from the HDMI Switch C2G. That way I can use all my devices (Mac Pro, Xbox, PS3, Cable Box) with these monitors.
    Since the Switch C2G only has one OUTPUT Slot, I'm thinking I just need to connect the monitors to the Switch C2G Output slot by using a 2 to 1 HDMI Adapter, but wouldn't I lose the true potential of these monitors by not connecting them directly to the Mac Pro?
    Currently, I have the monitors hooked up with Thunderbolt/Mini Display Adapters to the Mac. So I guess I would just have to run just one HDMI with Thunderbolt/Mini Display from the Mac to the Switch C2G, and connect the other devices to the Switch as well.
    Jeez. Am I right?
    What If I get an HDMI Switch with 2 Outputs instead of getting the 2 to 1 HDMI Adapter or perhaps a 4 to 2 Adapter. Heck. I'm not sure what to do here.
    I would really appreciate anyones help.
    Thank you.

    Please give me if u have any example url to explaining about mapping between list of output to list of input between actions of wd gp process.
    reagrds,
    Nari.

    It is better to avoid more customization from maintainability point of view, if possible . Meaning I would try to make standard map as much as possible(less customization, no custom functoids, less customized xslt etc). Since your source xml format and
    destination root is known, I can see your destination format is also known. Hence, you can copy the same schema format from source into destination with the root which you are referring as one element rather than just creating one element, To avoid all drawing
    all lines manually, you can use "mass copy" functoid
    to recursively copy all data in an input instance message, to arbitrary depth, that corresponds to a specified node in the source schema to the position in an output instance message that is specified by the output link. also refer
    anytype with masscopy.
    If you are just searching for a solution to pass raw xml, then I would go with your second approach already. You can also pass the output to external assembly to allow more flexibility in terms of coding if needed.
    Please mark it as Answer if this answers your question
    Thanks.

  • LabVIEW sequencing DAQmx, setting outputs on input triggers

    I am still learning labVIEW.  I am an engineer in a mechanical test lab and I am currently working on a test.
    The test needs to run through a sequence controlling a stepper motor, sensing when a touch screen is activated, and write load cell DAQ to a file.  This needs to repeat as much as 1,000,000 times.  It is a cycle test.
    I have been working on learning labVIEW for the past month and it has gotten me pretty far but I am having trouble with tying together my first VI for an actual test to be performed in the lab.
    My biggest constraint is:
    I don't understand how to set an ouput to a level (HIGH/LOW) at the condition of a rising/falling edge of a input.  This pertains to how the stepper motor and touch screen works.  I want to set an output to high to extend the motor and wait until it activates the screen which will send a digital high input.  I want to collect DAQ at this point then set a second output to hight that will retract the motor to a 'home' position.
    I have attached photos of my setup, a diagram of how it is wired (hand drawn), and two VI files.  Both VI files don't work since I don't know how to 'tie' everything together and control an output when an input edge is triggered.
    Load Cell VI_V2 uses DAQ Assistants to sequence through.
    000_Touch_Screen.vi uses DAQmx which are seperated into operations that I want to sequence.
    Any thoughts on best method for a newbie?
    Thank you in advance for any help!

  • New VCR/DVD player that connects to antenna input

    Sorry! I guess I should clarify this. We have a "screw in" coaxial cable that runs from our antenna into the house. As our TV is newer we don't have a "screw in" coaxial input (only AV cable inputs) so we have to run it through the dvd/vcr players. However, our current player no longer works for anything other than this (doesn't play DVD/VHS anymore) so it is basically like a giant paperweight.  We are looking at replacing this unit, but need the new one to have the screw in option (or be able to purchase another device that has the screw in coaxial option). Otherwise we do not have access to any television channels. Unfortunately I don't know what to look for in either a new player or an additional device. Thank you for your help with this!

    I am very confused as to what I need to look for when buying a new VCR/DVD combo. (Yes, I still want to play tapes)   I need it to have a "screw" in connection for my roof top antenna's coaxial cable like the ones picture below. I have tried the plug in coaxials slots (with out the screw in option), and they don't work. But when you go to buy any device they just meniton that it has a coaxial slot. I have heard a lot of different information about what I need to get from an RF Modulator to a Tuner. When I looked at the RF Modulator it appeared to be letting you convert AV cables from a device (dvd player) to coaxial input (older tv model). Please help!
