Connecting audigy 2 ZS to Onkyo TX-NR1

Hi All,
I just purchased a computer with a Audigy 2 ZS card in it and I want to connect it to my receiver. When I connect it I used the digital out but only get hissing and static. Can someone help me out. I tried playing with the hz but still no sound.
Thanks,
agmataa003

James,
I am using the Belkin Y audio cable, which has a 3.5mm mini-stereo plug on one side and RCA audio plugs on the other. It works when I change the output to headphone on the audio dashboard and plug into line out but no 5. or 7.. Still no sound when I change it to digital out and plug into the digital out socket.

  • Humm when connecting Audigy 2 ZS to home ster

    I'm connecting an Audigy 2 ZS to a home stereo. I'm using a /8 stereo-to-RCA in jack to hook up to the L and R on my home stereo receiver.
    While I *am* getting sound, there is a serious humm, and the sound isn't as loud as I would have expected.
    The receiver is a Pioneer Elite VSX-45TX, and I've got the SB hooked up to the CD in connection (the dvd/cd player is hooked up elsewhere).
    Why am I getting such horrible humm? I don't get this when I use the PC in my office using the Yamaha powered speakers.

    Are you trying to connect Analog (2 way stereo) OutPut signal (from Audigy) to Digital-InPut (CD/DVD input) channel (on Pioneer)? Try to connect those R/L (RCA) to AV Input (stereo).
    From VSX-45TX site - Connectivity:
    * RS-232
    * USB - Rear
    * Multi-Channel Input- All
    * Multi-Channel Outputs - All
    * Digital Input - 5 (2 coaxial, 3 optical w/front)
    * Digital Output - 2 optical
    * 6 Audio / 5 A/V Inputs (including Tuner) !!! ANALOG INPUTS
    * 2 Audio / 2 A/V / Video Output
    * Phono Input
    * S-Video - 5 In / 2 Out
    * Component Video In/Out
    * Front A/V Inputs
    * Banana Speaker Terminals
    * AC Outlet
    You can connect Audigy to Pioneer using digital or analog? Digital would be the best choice. RTFM (for both devices) to find out how these connections are done (which output on audigy and input on pioneer should be choosed with analog/digital. Shouldn't be hard reading.)

  • Connecting Audigy 2 ZS card to an Audigy Platinum EX 'Audigy Dri

    I would like to connect the 'Audigy Dri've' from my Audigy Platinum EX setup to my new Audigy 2 ZS card. It seems to be physically possible - connect the Audigy 2 ZS to the Platinum EX's expansion card with the AD_EXT cable, then the expansion card to the Platinum dri've with the DS cable (I haven't looked into power supply connection issues yet). I'm wondering if there's any fundemental incompatibility between the two despite the possibility of physical connectivity. Anyone have any ideas?

    It looks like someone asked something similar about a year or so ago, and a moderator stated simply 'no'. Any explanation of why?

  • 4-pole Minijack-toRCA? (Digitally connect Audigy 2 SZ to Inspire 5500 speakerset)

    Hello forum/Creative,
    After searching and searching, I'm just confused. And I'm quite an audiophile and I know quite a lot about cable and connections. I still have a problem getting (Dolby) Digital from my Audigy 2 SZ card, to my Creative 5500 (Digital) speakerset. There's a couple "paradoxes" if you will so I hope someone (of Creative) can explain this to me.Because my situation is different than everything I read before.Now the "problem" is that the 5500 digital speakerset uses an external Dolby Digital decoder that is connected to the subwoofer by a DIN-to-DIN cable. Then there are the 3 minijacks (output) that connect from the decoder to the sub. (This also enable volume control per channel via the external decoder/remote) Then there's a coaxial (digital) input that goes from the decoder to any digital out source, which at first was at the coaxial out of my DVD player, which gave the Dolby Digital 5. channel sound as it should. No problem so far.But then I bought an Audigy 2 SZ card for my pc and the problems is that the Digital Out of this card is not a coaxial one, but a minijack output.Strangly however, the 5500 speakerset includes a minijack-to-rca cable, so I can connect the coaxial input on the decoder to the minijack digital out of the Audigy 2 SZ card. Then I got just front L/R channels. I realized the included cable was a 2-pole minijack, with one ground connection and audiostream (Front L/R) What I need is a 4-pole Minijack-to-RCA (. ground 2. Front L/R 3. Rear L/R 4. Sub/Center) , but I dumbfounded so far and I wonder if this cable even exists. After looking in the manuel again and checking the Creative forum and other audiofora, all I can see is a 4-pole minijack-to-DIN (digital din)Here'smy problem with that:st of all my external decoder is connected to the subwoofer via a DIN-to-DIN cable. So if I would get that 4pole Minijack-to-RCA my external decoder becomes nothing more then a nice piece of decoration. Since power from the sub goes to this decoder via the DIN cable (do I wonder if it's a Digital DIN at all)But since this decoder is also used to control volume (per channel) and has the infrared remote receiver + Dynamic Mode setting which can only be set via the remote, I would loose all these functions?I know the Audigy 2 SZ has it's own Dolby Digital (EX), DTS (ES) etc, but I don't want the soundcard output alone and not use the external decoder (again, since this decoder does more than just decode alone).Now a 4-pole Minijack-to-RCA would solve all these problems and I REALLY hope these exists. (Should be possible at least).Currently I have unplugged the 3 minijacks-to-minijacks from the external decoder and plugged them into my Audigy 2 SZ card for Analog Surround. But it doesn't sound good (well at least compared to real Dolby Digital) and via this setup I lost volume control (per channel) functionallity of the external decoder.So please help me out on this. I would really appreciate it.Regards,Felix.

    P.S. The 4pole Minijack-to-RCA I mention is a female RCA connector to accept the male-to-male coaxial RCA cable. I also noticed the Audigy 2SZ Quick start manual states to hook up 5. digital speakers to use a 4pole minijack-to-4pole minijack, but this is impossible since there is only a coaxial input and minijack output.So a minijack-to-minijack cable is completely wrong. After (again) checking my Inspire 5500 user's guide, I noticed ONLY THIS manual has the ONLY correct solution to hook up the set. The aformentioned 4pole minijack-to-RCA (female).Creative, why do you supply a useless 2-pole minijack-to-RCA for the digital connection of the Inspire Dolby Digital 5500 speakerset instead of the 4pole one?I mean, you buy the Dolby Digital set to get real Dolby Digital sound, but to get that from your own Audigy (2 SZ) card, you need another cable!! (and when you get it, the other cable will never be used for anything else, since it can only transfer the Front L/R signal!!

  • Help! Connecting Audigy nx2 to Xmod then to t20 spea

    Hi, the reason i'm connecting this way is Xmod dont have software to tune bass or equalizer.
    I have the usb adapter and it works fine but i have no free socket. All occupied by T20, laptop, external harddisk and audigy nx2.
    I'm just wondering if Xmod can only draw power from my laptop usb and work as standalone device rather a souncard. I had tried to connect nx2 output to xmod but its not working without the external usb. Although I disabled xmod in device manager, its still not working.
    Anyone, please help!

    The Xmod needs to get power, whether it's by connecting to a PC or by using a power adapter. If you're trying to use it as a standalone device (and connect something to the line-in) then you'd need to power it using a power adapter with a USB connection (see here).

  • Connect Audigy 2 ZS to Moni

    I have just purchased and installed a Hyundai BlueH HM9W 9in Wide MFM LCD-TV. Although it is primarily a PC Monitor,it also has a built in TV tuner and speakers. The sound quality is very poor.
    My PC has a Nvidia Geoforce 6200 Graphics Card and an Audigy 2zs sound card connected to a Cambridge 4: speaker system with a remote volume control. I am having a difficulty in trying to find out how I can connect the audigy and speakers to the new monitor.
    I can play music etc from the PC through the main speakers with no problems, but I cannot route the TV audio through my speakers. If I disconnect the sound card and speakers, I cannot play any sound through the monitor speakers.
    On the back of the monitor there is an audio input for VGA and DVI (support HDCP or PC)
    My Audigy card has jack connectors on No.s 3&4 as shown on the diagram in the Audigy Usres Guide which are connected to the speakers and remote volume control..
    I have tried to connect from the monitor to connections 5,6 &7 with the PC audio cable supplied with the monitor with no luck.
    If any one can tell me what I am doing wrong and perhaps suggest a cure I will be very grateful. If I need to supply further information i will try to do so.

    Hmm... Audigy is not very good in this but,- set winamp to output through kernel streaming or ASIO output plugin and control the source through Wave port in Audigy Mixer by enabling/disabling the Wave port (ASIO and KS does nor go through this port) ... better would be to use sucha software that lets you route signal through Rear L/R for this connection (Foobar, BeatPort SYNC as for an example)- if you prefer to connect through S/PDIF (coaxial) then you can control audio by switching between Digital and Analog in Audigy Control Panel (use Winamp through S/PDIF and others through analog) ... I suppose you need to mute Wave port and use ASIO / KS in Winamp for this setup too so you don't get PC system sounds etc. mixed into the stream... in both cases, you also need to switch between speaker settings (2/2. vs 4/4.) which change can be automated through scripts (IIRC, scripts are already here forums somewhere)jutapa
    Another method is to use onboard sound for PC audio and Audigy for home theater (or vice versa depending on connectivity).Message Edited by jutapa on 02-03-200802:05 PM

  • Connecting Audigy 2 ZS to a Logic3 5.1 Soundstat

    Hi,
    I'm thinking of buying an audigy 2 zs, but am slightly confused over the connectivity.
    The speakers I have are 5., and include a decoder.
    The decoder allows optical in, and coaxial digital in. This decoder is then connected to the subwoofer via a "9 pin din". On the back of the subwoofer the other speakers are connected by wires which are "clipped" into place if you see what i mean, but there are also 5 RCA sockets for input.
    Ive read various articles on the creative website, but I can't decide the best thing to do. Could I bypass the decoder altogether, and get a DIN adapter for the digital out on the soundcard? Or should i go analogue, bypassing the decoder by plugging the sound card into the RCA plug sockets on the back of the subwoofer? Or connect via the digital coaxial on the back of the decoder? So many options!
    I'm hoping to be able to play games in 5., if possible.
    Could anyone advise me on how/if i could to it's

    Are you sure? I thought i read that the DIN was the "digital equivalent" of using several analogue RCA cables.
    So what cables would i need to buy to use the analogue method? There are 5 RCA inputs on the speakers, but i thought the sound card had only 3 RCA outputs.
    Thanks
    The DIN from creative may not be the same as your DIN for your speaker since it's not a creative speakers so your best bet is to go with analog connection.

  • Connecting Audigy 2 Platinum I/O to new Audigy 2 ZS (urgent answers p

    Hi everybody,I am currently using an Audigy 2 Platinum with fron panel. Because this card is 6. card and I have 7. Creative Speakers, I am going to buy Audigy 2 ZS (7.). But I don't want to purchase Audigy 2 ZS Platinum because I already I have front panel. So my question is; Can I use my Audigy 2 Platinum's I/O Front Panel with Audigy 2 ZS? Audigy 2 ZS has got AD_EXT Pins on its board but I wanted to ask you if it will work?And also does Audigy 2 ZX come with MediaSource 2 or ?Thanks a lot<!-- / message -->

    Craigcharlie,
    I am not sure exactly what the differences are, but my understanding is that some of the chips used may be different (and of course they are labeled differently). Functionally they are the same so there is no reason why you should have a problem with it.
    The difference between the way the Audigy 2 and the original Audigy is quite a bit. This means that the dri've bays for the two are not compatible. Although connecting them shouldn't cause damage, they are not the same connection and there is always the possibility. Since the Audigy dri've won't work with the Audigy 2 or 2 ZS I would recommend not connecting them.

  • Need Help Connecting Audigy 2 ZS and DVD Surround Sys

    Ok, forgive me if I sound confusing, but I am confused.
    Here is what I want to do:
    Connect my Protron 5. surround system to my media center PC. The surround system is a DVD player that connects to a sub, which the speakers plug into. Here is a picture in case I confued some of you.
    <IMG src="http://www.geocities.com/nish4x/stereo.JPG">
    How exactly can I hook this surround system up to my PC? I dont need the DVD player, but I am guessing I need it to connect that to my PC in order for the 5. to work?Message Edited by Nish4x on 0-09-2006 02:26 PM

    You need 6 rca cables and an 3 3.5mm stereo to rca adapters.
    I suggest you get the rca adpaters from www.impactacoustics.com or wherever you get
    the cables to go branded items (they sell their items to dealers under the brand name "cables to go").
    For the rca cables www.monoprice.com sells excellent ones for cheap prices, look for the 75 ohm subwoofer cables,
    or 75 ohm rca cables.
    Connect the 3 adapters to your sounc card and then route the rca plugs into the sound system. Since I also have the audigy 2 zs, which I like the
    fact that you have a lot of room to manuever, just plug the rca adapters into the center, green, and black and then put the rca cables into the dvd player. You may need to use the thx setup console to test to see if you plugged in the rca channels to the right ones into the sound system, ie did you put the white rca cable into the front left channel rather than the front right.
    Happy hooking it up. If you need more advice, private message me or respond to this forum, be aware thogh with a lot of topics, your forum can get lost/

  • Help connecting Audigy 2 to digital speakers

    Hi!
    I have an SB Audigy 2 card (SB0240) and want to connect it to my Logitech Z-5500 Digital speakers. (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/pr...CONTENTID=9486)
    This digital 5. speakers support a number of <SPAN>simultaneous connections like optical digital, coaxial digital, 6 channel direct (the one I'm using now) analog, and a couple other analog and stereo ones.
    Now, I'm kinda hating the fact that I paid that much to get digital speakers so I can connect by analog to them!!!
    I went out to try and buy a coaxial digital cable to hook it up to the digital out of the Audigy 2 to the digital in of my speakers. Went to Radioshack first but they didn't really know how to handle it. Checked out CompUSA with the same luck. I stoped by BestBuy which had a huge collection of audio cables but none that matched my needs. Or so I think. I wasn't very happy getting home empty-handed.:angry:
    According to the Knoledge Base (<A href="]http://ask.americas.creative.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=850,E=0000000000036399263,K=764,Sxi=0,Question 3969=obj(3969)bj(397[/url])) that I just checked out, I need a /8" mini plug to RCA converter cable. And that a mono or stereo one could be used.
    Is this correct? And WHERE DO I GET THAT CABLE?
    Please someone help me as soon as you can!
    Thanks in advance!

    Actually I bought an adapter and a cable. To my knowledge, Radio Shack doesn't have a cable with a mono /8" miniplug on one end and an RCA jack on the other (at least I didn't see one).
    So I bought the adapter which is a male /8" mono miniplug on one end and the female RCA on the other. Then just get a digital coax cable with RCA jacks on both ends.
    Just remember to also set the DVD software right to use digital. On mine I had spdif as an option along with all the other speaker options (2 spk, 4 spk, 6 spk, etc). Selecting this automatically disabled all the other software decoding options that were there. Dunno how it is with your DVD software.
    Then also remember to select whatever sound options the DVD movie itself has. If you don't have the DVD in yet and hit the coax button on the Z-5500, it will still read "no digital data". When the movie is then inserted and sound starts to play, the Z-5500 will switch to digital - stereo. Then when selecting the sound options on the DVD, and starting the movie, the Z-5500 will again switch to whatever was chosen (or whatever the movie plays in if there were no audio options) by itself (ie: Dolby Digital or DTS). Yes, I have played some movies with DTS. All of them don't have that. Most all have Dolby Digital. I haven't played enough movies yet to determine which is better, though I hear most like DTS better. All I know at this point is they both sound great!
    Believe it or not, I had never watched a movie with 5. sound before (other than theaters) because I never had the setup. A whole new experience.
    Also you can get the sound in DVD movies through all the speakers in analog too using the Pro Logic option but it's not quite the same, and you don't get the Dolby or DTS.
    For mp3s I still use analog with the "PL II Music" effect (to get use of the center channel) and it sounds great.
    For games I also use analog, just selecting 6 ch direct if the game has 5.. Also sounds great. You can also use the "Pro Logic II" setting if the game does not have 5. to get the sound mixed through all the speakers. Makes me want to play all my games again. EAX also only works in analog.
    As far as your software. Creative has an auto update now just like Windows Update. You can go on and it will scan your system and tell you what drivers you need and then give you the option to download what you want. It downloads and installs it just like the Windows Update does. I like it a lot.
    http://us.creative.com/support/downl...dDspLangID=033
    Finding that option to disable the Audigy 2 decoder, just go to "Audio HQ". In that box is "Device Controls". Hit the "Decoder" tab and you will see the "spdif passthrough" box to check. As I said before, no need to check the box for "digital out only" in the "Creative Speaker Settings". You can switch back and forth just using the Z-5500 Control Center.
    All I can say is I LOVE THESE SPEAKERS! ! ! Especially now that I've gotten everything working right. I had been contemplating getting these speakers since they came out. I had previously the Logitech Z560s. I thought those sounded great too (4.). I got a Christmas bonus at work and said, "what the hell, I'm going to buy myself a Christmas present". Gawd dam, I'm sure glad I did! My wife doesn't like it too much, with her "turn that crap down" comments. Heh heh. At least I have an office in my garage so I have some sound buffer room to play. I heard a funny review of these speakers once with comments like, "the whole neighborhood is going to hate your guts but you will love them".

Now i've decided to buy a new X-Fi, and in the store they told me that was possible to connect this new x-fi to may audigy dri've, but it doesn't work. The dri've is connet with the gray ribbon and powered (Optical out with light), but the options regarding the dri've don't appear in Mixer (Mic2 , for example. Is there any way to make this connection to work?Message Edited by InforTek on 2-22-2005 07:34 PM

    InforTek,
    Although the Audigy and Li've Dri'ves were compatible, they are not compatible with the Audigy 2 or the X-Fi Platinum dri'ves. This is due to a change in the card's design that made backwards compatibility unfeasible.

  • Want to connect Audigy 2zs gamer with digital so

    Ok I have the audigy 2zs gamer, and the gigaworks 750 7. surround sound.
    I also have hdtv cable box with digital out, and optical digital out.
    I have ps3 (obviously with blu-ray) and xbox 360, both of which have a optical digital out.
    I want to be able to connect to these, but I guess the only inputs ( on pod, and on card) are analog only.
    My question is. Is there any way to do this. I see a digital i/o box, but I don't think it's compatible. It says it is with the value model, but not the regular 2zs gamer one?
    So do I have to buy a newer sound card, or can I use this one as is, or with the digital i/o box to make it work.
    I don't care about having multiple connections, I can make do with having only connected at a time.
    Thank You

    I guess what can solve one of the problems is.
    If I use a digital out (4 pin minipole connecter) from my cable box to the line in of the 2zs board, will it accept it...or is the line in for the 2zs analog only?

  • Problem connecting Audigy to stereo recei

    Hi,
    My system is a home built using XP home, SP2.
    I'm trying to connect my Audigy sound car to my stereo receiver and also still have it connected to the desktop speakers. Bought a splitter and plugged it it into the line out jack and then plugged the desktop speaker wire into one output and the other into an rca splitter which I attached to the left and right wires from the receiver.
    Problem is there is no sound on the right channel of the desktop speakers or the reciever.
    Strange thing is if I unplug the wires leading to the receiver I get sound on both channels of the desktop speakers. If I plug the receiver back in I don't get sound on the right channel of either and if I unplug the desktop speakers I still don't get sound on the right channel of receiver.
    Have tried different splitters and switching which side the speakers and receiver are plugged into with exactly the same results.
    Any help appreciated. Have looked online and in the faqs and haven't found a solution.
    Francis

    have you tried going directly from your soundcard directly into your reciever? if you're going stereo mini plug (tip/ring/sleeve, /8", stereo), out to dual rca directly into your reciever, you should be in good shape. give that a whirl and see what happens.

    My son uses a two computer set up with a KVM switch. One computer is used as a jukebox and the other for creation of new music. You didn't mention, which version of Audigy your brother has.
    Would his sources be stereo only from the non Audigy system? If yes, then he can just send/receive audio through analog I/Os or digital (S/PDIF) I/Os from non Audigy PC to Audigy. If LineIn on Audigy is already reserved, he can connect to AUX-In or CD Audio connectors found from Audigy board (4- pin connectors). I.e. connect the other PC audio system like he would connect any external audio device into Audigy.
    On Audigy then, to get signal inputted, he needs just to enable the proper Source channel and CMSS processing to get the stereo source processed into multichannel output. If it don't work directly then through some software like Hermann Seib's VSTHost http://www.hermannseib.com/english/ w/ or w/o processing plugins.
