Connecting from Oracle to Access, what am I doing wrong??

Hi,
I'm tying to establish a connection from an Oracle 8.1.7.0.0. Database to an MS Access database,. I'm following the exact steps as described in the Oracle documentation, but still I can't get a connection.
I have the folowing environment:
Here's what i did. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT I'M MISSING?? (i already checked wheter the right Oracle software for odbc support has been installed)
* Created a system DSN (called farmabc) for the concerning .mdb file using ODBC 'Data Source Administrator'
* Created a file called initfarmabc.ora file in the ORACLE_HOME/hs/admin directory. This file contains the following: HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = farmabc
* added the folowing statement to the listener.ora file (under SID_LIST_LISTENER):
(SID_DESC=
(SID_NAME=farmabc)
(ORACLE_HOME=D:\oracle817)
(PROGRAM=hsodbc)
* Added the folowing entry to the tnsnames.ora file:
farmabc= (DESCRIPTION=
(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)
(HOST=<hostname>) --cannot reveal hostname
(PORT=1521))
(CONNECT_DATA = (SID=farmabc))
(HS = OK))
* Restarted the listener
* create database link test using 'farmabc' (in SQL*plus)
* when I ty to select data from a table within the Access database I get the folowing error:
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name
Setting tracing on in the initfarmabc.ora file does not generate any logging!!
Does anyone know what's the problem here?????

I suggest u simple method to resolve your TNS error.
gotto access db
select any db
click 'file'
right click 'get external data'
click 'link tables'
select files of types='odbc'
noe click 'machine data source'
click 'new'
select 'user data source' & click 'next'
use scroll & select 'Oracle in Oracle page' & click 'next' & 'finish'
now
In data source name= 'give any name'
description='give any name'
TNS service name = select globaldb after clicking the combo box
user id ='type user name'
after doing all these now click the 'Test connection' , if it succeeds,yes u have overome from the TNS error.
You can choose the same globaldb for the TNS service name.

I'm not particularly familiar with Heterogenous Services, but there is a Heterogenous Services/ Generic Connectivity forum here on OTN. The folks over there are much more likely to have some helpful information for you.

Make sure that both the web browser you're using and its Flash plug-in are up to date. Google Chrome has its own Flash plug-in it updates on its own. Firefox, IE and other have separate plug-ins.

I'm trying to use AirPort Untility to configure the old APExtreme to extend the network, but it won't let me.
"Extend" is only used if the two AirPort Extremes are connecting using wireless only.
"Create" is the correct setting to use since the AirPort Exremes are connecting using Ethernet.
Configure the second AirPort Extreme to create a wireless network using the exact same wireless network name, same security setttings and same wireless password as the "main" AirPort Extreme and make sure that you are choosing the Bridge Mode option for the second AirPort Extreme before clicking Update to save the settings.
When you do this, everything will act like one big wireless network and computers will automatically pick up a signal from the AirPort with the strongest signal based on their location.

Thanks for your prompt reply, I'm afraid it hasn't helped. I don't see anything wrong in my device manager.
I have also gone and updated every driver, especially the motherboard chipset and the Sata Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver.
Unfortunately, this hasn't made any difference.
Any other suggestions?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

No, not on the File menu. Click on the Device that shows up when connected:

If you do not use the Sidebar, when the iPod is connected to iTunes, you should see this icon appear to the left of the iTunes Store button:
Click on the ringed icon (but not on the "eject" part of it!).
Or
If you use the Sidebar, you will see the Device appear, as shown below:
Click on it.
Once you have clicked on the Device, you should see this (Summary) pane, with the word Summary darkened:
Click on Photos (as ringed above)...
Now you are on the Photos pane (notice Photos is now darkened), where there is a drop-down menu. It's that box that says "My Pictures", where you will find "Choose Folder". That option allows you to choose (as I did) "My Pictures".
Notice in the last screenshot that a message at the very top of the image states that the "iPod Sync is complete". Choosing the folder after the Sync has completed (or passed the "sync photos" section) simply means that it requires another Sync for that change to take effect.
That's it.
Now, whatever pictures you place in the chosen folder will be added to your iPod at the following Sync. Likewise, any pictures you remove from that folder will be removed from the iPod at the following Sync.
You only need to look on the Photos pane if you wish to change the folder option.

I am trying to connect from Oracle to Access using ODBC. I followed the steps described in oracle documentation but was not sucessful. Could you plase take a look at my code let me know where I went wrong. It is as follows :
1)Created an ODBC connection for Microsoft Access called 'MSACCESS' (System DSN). And associated accdb1.mdb to this ODBC connection.
2)Created a table called orders in accdb1.mdb.
3)Added the foll lines in tnsnames.ora

Tap Settings in the Home screen then tap General / Reset / Reset Network Settings.
Then restart the iPad. Press and hold down the Sleep / Wake button until you see the red slider then swipe to the right to power off, then hold down the Sleep / Wake button until you see the Apple logo.
