does your car stereo have a female 3.5 mm stereo jack or a USB jack?
if it is a female 3.5mm stereo jack then you can try to use this adapter + the Nokia multimedia adapter that came with your N95
if you have a USB, then perhaps this might work as well...
the USB can be bought from many sites like this one

  • N95 8GB connect to a USB Device

As the title says, is it possible to connect the N95 8GB to a external USB Device like a USB Hard Drive so that files from the hard drive can be viewed on the N95.
I would suppose you would need to use additional software for this task.
    Any comments.

Power (+5V) is not the problem as long as the usb device has an external power supply. Most (if not all) nokia phones use 3.6 - 3.7 V battery, but, despite that, nokia phones could produce 5V from 3.7V battery with special hardware. Else, there could be a limitation of simultaneously using the phone charger (that provides 5V to the phone) when connecting a usb device to nokia phone. So, power is not the problem.
Lets look to signals (D+ and D-). According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usb , Transmitted signal levels are 0.0 – 0.3 V for low and 2.8 – 3.6 V for high in full speed (FS) and low speed (LS) modes, and −10 – 10 mV for low and 360 – 440 mV for high in hi-speed (HS) mode. So 3.7V battery is capable of USB signaling, too.
Additionally, most (if not all) ARM processors that are inside Nokia phones, have one USB client port and at least one USB Host port (USB 1.1 or USB 2.0). For examble, old Nokia 7610 is equiped with ARM processor OMAP 1510, that has one client USB port and one USB 1.1 HOST port. (Mention that 7610 does not have usb port. It has pop-port that includes required 4 USB signals: VBUS, Ground, D+ and D-). See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop-port .
What is the problem: It's just, Nokia manufacturer does not make use of ARM processor's USB Host port contacts. Also there is not an addtional micro USB port (more space required), and of course there is not software supporting USB Host capability.
Consider, also, that adding USB Host capability to small sized Nokia super phones, that have not big enough battery capacity, then, the battery would be exhausted soon. That's not good for marketing.
So, if you want to add USB Host port to Nokia phone, then:
    1) Locate processor and USB Host port contacts ( if you are able to do it, because of FBGA processor type)
    2) Provide 5V to USB device.
    3) Write some code and install it in Nokia phone.
---  It doesn't worth it. Too much trouble !!!  ----
One other method, would be a SDIO to USB Host Controller Card, connected to micro SD port of some Nokia phones. But, only CF Card to USB Host exists in the market for over 130$. SDIO to USB Host Hardware Development kit costs a lot and are big enough.
Can anyone build something using Maxim ICs MAX3420 or MAX3421E (USB Peripheral Controller with SPI Interface), and connect it to SD card slot supporting SDIO (SD uses SPI interface!!!) ????????????

  • Nokia N95 8GB Album Art and Album Folders Issue

I have been hunting for for a resolution for two issues with the N95 8GB Media Player all over the web.
    1. Adding artwork (CD Covers) to audio tracks (or albums) seems to be at best hit and miss. Most of the time it just does not work.
    2. Deleting an album delete all the tracks but deleting the album folder seems almost impossible.
Well this weekend I decided to try to solve this and I think I may have hit upon a solution.
Since so may people have the same problem I thought it worth repeating. I would stress this has not been exhaustively tested but it does work reliably so far.
I am using Nokia Music Manager 2.0. The fix is simply to convert the files to AAC rather than to M4A (which is the default). After this simple change everythig worked find for me. I can add and delete albums from Nokia Music Manager 2.0 (don't forget to refresh on the phone afterwards) AND reliably add Album Artwork.
So here is how I have been working.
    1. Set the conversion format to AAC. I have been using 'Ultra high' quality setting. Options Menu >> Setting >> Conversion Tab.
    2. Next put in a CD, select all the tracks and choose copy to my collection.
    3. While this is going on I find the artwork on the Web. A simple Google Image search with the album title and artists last name / band name seems pretty 100% to get the on the first page. Download image to My Documents / My Pictures.
    4. Once the CD Rip is complete they will all appear in My Collection. I select all the tracks in my collection for the album in question, and then right click on one of them and select Edit.
    5. I then attach the Album Artwork by clicking on the blue folder and choosing it from my, MY Pictures folder.
    6. Finally select Copy to Phone from the File Menu.
This has worked for me so far 100% and I have done 20 or so albums.
    NOTES:
To get Nokia Music Manager 2.0 I uninstalled the version of Nokia Phone Suite that came with my phone and went to
http://europe.nokia.com/A4144905I (or seach Google for "nokia phone suite"
I chose the N95 8GB downloaded and installed. At some point shortly after install Phone Suite informed me that there were updates available and Nokia Music Manager 2.0 was one of these.
I was originaly using this and suffered all the problems you guys have. After searching the web and finding no solution I decided to do some experimenting.
    Hope all this helps.
PS If you need to delete all your legacy album folders, this is the fix I found on this same site. You can do this at any time.
    1. Enable the option to be able to see Hidden Files and Folders in your Windows Explorer.
    2. Connect your n95 8gb to your computer and choose data transfer mode.
    3. Go to My COmputer >> Nokia Phone Browser >> Nokia N95 8GB >> Memory Card E:
    3. If you have selected Show Hidden Files and Folders (see 1) you should see a folder called Private.
    4. In the Private folder you need to delete the contednts of three folders
    \private\101FFC31 (mpxv1.mpd and pcv5.mpd)
    \private\101f8857\Cache
    \private\101ffca9
In all the 3 folders delete all the files Not the FOLDER
Next time you restart the music player it will rebuild the indexes without the deleted albums folders.
Hope this helps someone. It restored my sanity.

    Album Art
    Basically there are two methods
    Method 1.
You do it on the phone. Load the album art pictures to the memory card. (Must be JPEG NOT BMP)
    Load also the music files.
Open Music application in the phone. Open an album then select Options->Album art then Options-> Add, browse for the picture and select Ok.
    Repeat for each ALBUM
    Method 2.
You do it on the PC.
Get a Tag editing software like Tag&Rename, WINAMP, etc.
Edit the files Metadata to include Album Art picutres (again they should be jpeg and also they should be set as Cover Front).
Transfer the files that have Album Art using File transfer (usb mass storage) don't use MTP or PC Suite as these methods may convert the files and Album Art will be lost.
Or you can continue using your Method

I found a situation where your error message appears. It is the case when the nokia is connected using the data transfer mode and simultaneously the OneTouch Application is started. Then the device is not recognized by the modem software. The PC Suite mode is required for the OneTouch Application.
In my situation I think I already saw all of the possible error messages described in the documentation during the various experiments.
For example I tried to uninstall and reinstall the cable drivers. Unfortunately the driver page of N95 8GB does not include them only the page of N95. This was a step towards success - what concerns the OneTouch Application.
Sometimes it is useful to switch off and on the phone, specially when it is not possible to connect with the modem driver.
In my opinion the possibility of completly uninstalling the Nokia Suite is missing. You can uninstall all parts but after reinstallation the Nokia Phone Browser is no more available, the icon is not displayed. All the software packages are working fine even the modem drivers but not the Phone Browser.

  • N95 8gb BT Connection Problem With BMW 5 series

    Hello everyone,
I hope someone could help me with this. I just got my N95 8 gb & I have tried to connect my phone to my BMW58610 BT but it seems like it constanly drop ny itself & then coneecting again & drop & connect. I do not know how to get this problem fix. 20.2.005 30-04-08 RM-421.
And then sometimes one folder will be missing by itself for example the n-gage folder will disappear & then it will come back within seconds or maps folder will disappear & will appears back.
I would really appreciate any suggestions or help!

I had a situation whereby my N95 8gb will connect to my iDrive and sometimes after a while, when I make a call, I can hear the person I am calling but they can't hear me. This is what I have learnt from trial and error since.
I tried everything to resolve this so I am not sure which actually fixed it so I'll tell you all I did. I updated firmware on both phone (V20) and car. Deleted all pairings on both phone and car. Repaired. I must have deleted pairings and repaired at least half a dozen times before the problem mysteriously disappeared.
Another thing I have noticed is, it is better to leave the phone for a few minutes after it has connected, to allow it to download all the contacts before using it. I have had the bluetooth disconnect or the HUD malfunction when I use the phone straight away.
I had to do the same with my N96 before it would work satisfactorily. My N80, however had no such problems. Strange.

  • [N95 8Gb] No more MP3 ringtones and message tones....

    Hi,
Last night I cleared my N95 8Gb of all the music and tranferred some new albums with Nokia Music afterwards. Now I'm not able to select any song or sound effect from my music collection as ringtone anymore!!
I can select a song in Music Player and set it as ringtone but I cannot go via settings and browse my MP3's... The same goes for message tones: I'm only able to select the standard **bleep** ringtones and none of the sound effects I uploaded as MP3 using Nokia Music.
I beginning to be amazed at how **bleep** Nokia Music can possibly be: before, everything worked like a charm and I was totally pleased with my N95 8Gb but now I can't even do the most basic things due to this piece of junk that Nokia calls Nokia Music...

I have a similar problem (N95-1). All the songs i have (about 400+) will not show up. When i remove the memory card, all the songs on the phone shows up. Try this fix (I am using the latest firmware).
Navigate to the Home Media App (Main Menu>Tools>Connectivity>Home Media), Share Content: Select Options (Left Softkey), then refresh contents. It will take some time depending on the number of songs, videos and photos you have. After it has finished refreshing, you should be able to select any song from the phone or memory card from within the tones menu.

  • N95-8GB - Not able to connect in Data Transfer Mod...

    Hi all,
Recently I bought N95-8GB and installed PC Suite which comes along with the phone in my OS Windows Vista Home Premium. When I try to connect my phone in Data Transfer mode, I am getting message "Found new hardware - Windows needs to install driver software for your unknown device" and I am not able to find any driver for the same.
Please help me out to solve this problem.
    Regards,
    S.Suresh

just let the wizard run through and select the options that windows will search for the friver itself. the dirvers are included in nokia Pc suite package.
YOu can also try to use the standard NOkia PC Suite from www.nokia.com/pcsuite or generally look for a fresh version of NSeries PC Suite from thephone web-pages, the CD-ROM versions are normally outdated

I'm struggling to connect to the internet via PC Suite (v7.1.30.9), using Vista Ultimate SP2, repeatedly getting the error "Failed to connect to the network! (I am able to connect immediately using my N80, so the problem seems to be on the N95 8GB). The rest of the PC Suite connection seems fine. Can anyone help me?

  • Internet Connection thru USB /N95 8GB

I have just got the N95 8GB and loaded the software etc. It will not connect to the internet, error msg says no modem detected.
I had a similar problem with the previous N95 in the months leading up to my upgrade. After using it to connect to the net many times it failed to work and said no modem detected.

When you've connected your usb cable & phone, go to device manager of XP/Vista & check if there is Nokia modem installed or its yellow or red. From there you'll know if the nokia moden driver is properly installed. When you click it will tell working properly. You might have MS OS problem, try it in other PC/Laptop.
