Connecting  Panasonic HD Camcorder to I-Movie 08

I have a Panasonic HDC-SD9. It records on SD-HG memory cards. It records in AVCHD format. When I connect my camera to the USB port and open I Movie 08 ,the camera is not recognized. When I say import from camera, the isight camera turns on and is the camera picked. All of the software included with the Panasonic is for PC. When I connect the camera to my Mac the SD card appears on the desktop and I can't get anything to open the movie files. I can open a still photo which looks like the 1st frame of my movie. Any help would appreciated.

Know just how u feel: tore my hair out with a Panasonic HDD-250 (no AVCHD that!) and had to return it to the shop. The video came in a format unrecognisable by iMovie and there was no Firewire slot! I was abt to buy the SD9 (loved its compact size) when a techie Mac supplier/friend told me to buy a Canon instd. I went out and bought the Canon HG10, but at 70% more than what the HDD-250 cost me. The Canon's High Def is amazing, and altho the reviews panned the sound, I hv no problem with it. Had initial problems with iMovie08 and Leopard, but the upgrade of iMovie whc I downloaded enabled me to open the video clips. This is my first camcorder and I love it! So return your Panasonic and get the Canon HG10. Absolutely not connectivity or software problems with iMovie08.

  • What can be used to connect Panasonic Full HD SD/SDHC Camcorder to the iPod

I am thinking of buying the Panasonic Full HD SD/SDHC Camcorder which uses the new SDHC/SD Memory Card to store the movie clips. What I would like to know is there anything in the iPod accessories range, that I can connect to a Fifth Generation iPod so I can store all the clips from either the camcorder or the SDHC/SD Memory Card, so I can re-use the memory card. I understand that I will not be able view the moive clips on the iPod as the camcorder uses the AVCHD format.
All I want to do is use the iPod as a storage unit as I will be taking the camcorder on hoilday and I don't want to buy a lots of the 8Gb Memory cards nor take a portable hard drive with a card reader.

-I already read entirely those threads, but nothing about stereoscopic 3D AVCHD movies through USB port, on Panasonic TVPlasma3D.
(Also, Sony said me that is not possible to play 3D videos on your 3DTV through USB port).
I tried to made a H.264 videoclip, with .MP4 extension, at 960x1080p side-by-side layout, but nothing was displayed, and black screen.
I think that just the AVCHD movies, with .MTS extension, that comes from Panasonic consumer camcorder "HDC-SDT750", can play the 3D videos via HDMI cable, not USB port.
But not the exported videos from PremierePro via USB port.
I seen this tutorial from David K Helmly:
    http://www.youtube.com/user/dhelmly#p/a/u/1/_YtF0c2bmkw
Dave export the video from PremiereProCS5 as "MPEG2-bluray" format with "Match Source Attributes (HighQuality)" Preset, and build the Bluray Disc in EncoreCS5, with the footage as MPEG2 with .m2v file extension:
    1) Anyone tried to play correctly in 3D, those MPEG2-.m2v side-by-side files, in Panasonic3DTV, with BlurayDiscReader?
    2) Why MPEG2.m2v side-by-side?
    3) The official standard stereoscopic 3D format, is not the .MVC (MultiViewCoding) for Bluray3D Disc?
    I am confused!
    Help!

    • Use another Mac to Import/Capture and to an external USB2 hard disk
This HAS TO BE - Mac OS Extended formatted - UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange do not work
    • Exchange the MacBook to a Mac Pro Book (has FW-800)
    • Or labourus, bad quality and expencive - Use the Analog out from Camera and
an A/D-box that connects via USB (and comes with Capture programs)

  • How do I upload my videos from my panasonic HDD camcorder onto my macbook air?

I am trying to upload videos from my panasonic HDD camcorder onto my macbook air. While it sees the photos that were taken on the camcorder, it does not seem to see the videos as when I select the import function it does not show anything listed under the camcorder when it is plugged into the macbook via usb. Thoughts? Do I need to convert the footage to something imovie can work with? If so, what program do I use and how do I do that. thanks so much. m

You can move videos or photos taken with iPad by connecting your iPad camera to Dropbox.
    Or
You can upload individual photos or video by selecting "open in"  and selecting Dropbox.   Save to Dropbox

  • Panasonic MiniDV Camcorder

I was going to purchase a Panasonic MiniDV Camcorder model PVGS-300 with a firewire connection but it states that the software does not work with mac. Can I still upload into my mac using imovie.
I am having a hard time finding a decent camcorder that has an excellent video qualtiy and work well with my mac for under 1k. Any sugestions.

Please let me know if you are successful at importing clips from the PV-GS300 to your Mac. I have a Mac mini, OS 10.4.6 and iMovie 5.0.2. I have been trying for 2 days. Here is what I get...
    1. When I set the PV-GS300 on PC connection mode, IMovie can't "see" the camcorder. It says no camcorder attached. When I set PV-GS300 to "playback mode", then iMovie can detect it. It says camera connected in the window. I even checked with system profiler and it also "sees" the camera as a Firewire device. I can even use the buttons in iMovie to rewind, play, pause, stop the PV-GS300 when it is set to playback mode. However, when I rewind to the beginning of the video and hit "import" button, nothing happens onscreen. The IMovie monitor screen remains blue even though I can see my video playing on the monitor of the PV-GS300. No matter how long a wait, no clip is created in iMovie.
    2. So then I tried the "magic movie". When I click "create" iMovie rewinds the tape, I see "camera playing" on the blue screen, the video is playing on my camcorder monitor in playback mode. Meanwhile, "looking for video" is displayed forever in the window on the right in IMovie, but nothing happens. No clip is made.
    3. I tried HackTV, but can't get it to work, either.
    4. I'd rather not spend the $$$ for something like Final Cut Pro 5, because I really don't need anything that fancy to make the kinds of movies we do. Is there any other free/shareware software that will import video from the PV-GS300?
Anyway, please let me know what happens with your importing and, if successful, how you did it. After two days of trying, I'm out of ideas.

  • Since upgrading to 10.8 my iMac can't see video files to copy across in Finder when connecting my AVCHD camcorder via USB

Hi, I usually connect my Panasonic AVCHD Camcorder via USB to copy the .MTS files across to my iMac for editing. Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, Finder sees the directories for photos stored on the Camcorder but not the video directories/files. I can see them via Parallels. Any ideas why?
    Thanks, Julian

ML will show the AVCHD as a pkg, so you are not able view the directories like BDMV-->Stream-->MTS. You can right click AVCHD file, then choose show package contents. you will see BDMV, then you right click BDMV to choose show package, you will see stream folder, just do it again, you will find MTS files. Next time if you want to check the MTS files you just need to do above again. right click AVCHD....
Another way, rename AVCHD to AVCHD.mts then do it same with BDMV and Stream folder, it will let you see MTS files after that. Those mts files will keep showing on your mac next time.
    Hope it helps

Panasonic dv camcorder GS120 not recognised by premier elements

    Hi Steve
Thanks for the advice but I am connecting with Firewire. I did have suspicions that it could be something to do with the IEEE-1394 driver but cannot work out how to update it. Would be obliged if you can give me some clues.
    Windows 7
I have now set IEEE 1394 to legacy driver but have not tried Premier yet. Will keep you informed.

  • Why doesn't my Panasonic X900M Camcorder open automatically in iMovie 11?

Hi. I bought a new Panasonic X900M Camcorder which is supposed to work in iMovie 11. When I connect the camcorder to my iMac (OSX10.7.5), iPhoto pops up for some reason and then the rolling ball shows. I do a force quit. I would have thought that iMovie 11 would automatically open. I have to manually open iMovie up but when I try to import anything, it too shows the rolling ball. When I connect the camcorder, a file opens up on the desktop but inside it are just a few video clips and photos. Most of my video work doesn't even show. And I can't drag and drop the few that are there, to iMovie.
Any thoughts about this? I have used the old iMovie HD for years and found it very easy to use with my old DV camcorder. This new camcorder and new iMovie has me wondering.
    Thanks!
    Richard

  • Apple TV will stream music but will not connect to iTunes library to stream movies or podcasts.  During the unsuccessful connection process, iTunes becomes unresponsive and must be forced to quit.

Apple TV 3 will stream music via Home Sharing from iTunes on Mac running 10.6.8 but will not connect to iTunes library to stream movies or podcasts.  When trying to connect, iTunes becomes unresponsive and must be forced to quit.  ATV will stream movies purchased through the ATV but not those purchased through or ripped/copied onto the Mac.  I've tried fixes suggested for similar problems (rebooting ATV and Mac, signing out then back into iTunes Store) to no success.  Any suggestions will be appreciated.

This is the most bogus example of Apple rip-off EVER.  They do not advertise this *feature* and yet expect people to invest in an Apple ECOSYSTEM?  My experience with Apple TV using a central media "server" (a dedicated Mac Mini) has been atrocious.  I continually get "Cannot connect..." messages and with typical Apple "it just works" mentality, there is no reason stated.  I HATE APPLE TV and I HATE APPLE.  Peddle your crapple somewhere else.

I would ask iTunes Store support for help with this. You may never be able to get the movie to download on your own now.
Go here and then tap on Connecting and downloading, then tap on Movie Rentals. You can have someone contact you, you can chat online or you can get email support. I would opt for the phone call or online chat.

As long as they have been fully downloaded (or synced from your computer's iTunes) then you should be able to watch them in the iPad's Videos app without needing to be online.

  • How do I view videos from my Panasonic SD40 camcorder that use the bmg format?

I just bought a Panasonic SD40 camcorder but my IMAC will not read the SD card. I believe that the Panasonic is using the bmg format.
    Any suggestions?

According to iMovie '11 Supported Cameras  your camera is supported by iTunes 11. I would recommend using the iMovie Tutorials.
