  • Use of Hostname for connectivity through client in 10g

    Hi,
Can anyone please clarify the use of host name and DB name? I mean currently we are using Oracle 8.0.5 where clients are connecting to Database using the hostname for e.g "Dataserver"... but now we are planning to migrate our DB to 10.2.0.1 where in testing phase when we created database with same name i.e "Dataserver" oracle doesnt allow this as giving error that DB name cannot b same of host name... now i want to know is there any possibility in 10g that we can use host name for connecting to DB through clients?
this question requires urgent attention as we need to migrate our database as early as possible.
    thanks

  • Unable to connect other client once Oracle10g DB installed in my desktop

    Hi,
I have Oracle Client in my desktop and I am able to connect Oracle servers which connected through LAN.
I have installed Oracle10g Express Edition Database in my desktop for the Backup purpose.
I am struggle to connect other Oracle Database which connected in my Local Area Network once I have installed the Oracle Database in my Desktop.
I can able to connect installed Oracle10g Express Edition DB, but not other Oracle DB Server.
Kindly guide / help me to use both Oracle DB Server which Installed in my PC and Others.
    Thanks in advance.
    Orahar.

This is because most recent installed software becomes sets to default ORACLE_HOME,PATH and ORACLE_SID settings .
Whenever you want to connect through client software set oracle_home,path and oracle_sid .
If you want to bypass setting these things
    go to MY COMPUTER>PROPERTIES >ADVANCED > ENVIRONMENT PROPERTIES>ADD
tehn add value for ORACLE_HOME,PATH and ORACLE_SID with old settings.
you should be able to make connections.
    OR
you can add TNSNAMES.ora entries of XE database with old tnsnames.ora details. you should be able to connect.

  • How can I know which clients are connected to my network through express and which are connected through extreme?

I have an airport express extending, through wireless, a network provided by an airport extreme. How can I know which clients are connected to my network through express and which are connected through extreme?
Here you can see both routers:
I would expect to some clients connected to the express, other than the extreme. And that's all I see: only the airport extreme appears as client of the airport express.
Below, one can see the summary of the config for both routers.
    Would somebody explain it?
    Thanks,

  • Only 2 Clients Connect Through AP 1252

    Hi,
I am configuring a 1252 in autonomous mode and that's the only AP in the network.
A very strange behavior is observed.
Although many clients can associate to this AP with no problem, only the first two associated devices can connect through this AP and access devices on the wired network. For 3rd associated device and above, they can only connect to and ping to AP but nothing beyond AP. In Windows the wireless icon would display "limited access" with an exclamation mark.
DHCP works fine though for all devices, and they can acquire the IP from DHCP server on a different segment.
I don't have too much experience with wireless so I am totally lost with no direction.
Please help and thank you very much.
    configuration attached.

Problem solved. It has nothing to do with AP. The AP is connected to a ESW 540-8 port SW. This is SOHO SW is blocking the traffic. As soon as I moved AP to main switch, everything went smoothly.

  • Client connecting through firewall

    Hi
We have two clustered servers. Our client is connecting through
firewall NAT. When iam connect to first server the response is very slow and
at the same time clustering is not working. If i stop the second server the
              response fast .
The same configaration is working fine when my client is local.
Can you explain the reason for this problem ?
Presently iam using weblogic 6.1 version.
              Thank you

OK I spoke too soon. The user looked like it was working but it was working because it matched another IAS policy further down the list. It seems as though the PIX refuses to use ms-chap of any sort. If I include the authentication type in the VPN policy conditions as ms-chap, it skips the VPN policy I am using to authenticate this. If I remove it, then it gives an invalid authentication type as if whatever the PIX is sending the IAS server does not understand as ms-chap.
It seems like the PIX authentication is totally wrong for use with IAS. What else do I need to add to this configuration to gewt it to work with ms-chap of any kind? I really don't get it.

I have an off-site storage server that I've been using for a while. All of a sudden the past couple of weeks while trying to connect through Transmit or Cyberduck all I get is "connection refused" whenever I attempt to connect through SFTP, FTP, or HTTP. • Problem with socket connection through Java Embedding...

We are trying to create a simple socket connection to a socket server through BPEL PM using the Java Embedding component.
BPEL Process : Client makes an asynchronous request. Passes an input variable. The input variable is sent to the Server Program through a socket connection through the Java embedding component.
Server: We are running a simple Socket Server program from command prompt.
The code below works fine as long as we do not try to receive a response from the server (Commented Code).

  • Issue with re-connecting a Client Computer to the Server Essentials R2 2012

I have an issue re-connecting a Client Computer to Server Essentials R2 2012.  The Client Computer in question was connected to the Sever originally.  I started getting Error Messages indicating that I was running out of storage room.  I
had been wanting to re-configure this Server with additional Hard Drives for some time, but something else always came up first.  Now, I was forced to address the problem.  I shut down the Server and added additional Hard Drives and while I was at
it I replaced the original Hard Drive that the Server Operating System was on with a much smaller Hard Drive, and reinstalled Server Essentials on that Drive.  Everything was working fine and the Server Back-up went fine to an external Hard Drive.
I was ready to re-install my Client Computers.  I started with my primary Production Computer first.  The Connector Software seemed to install fine, but as I moved through the Connection Wizard I received the following Error Message:  "Cannot
connect this computer to the network.  This computer is already connected to another Windows Server Network.  Before connecting this computer to the Windows Server Essentials network, you must remove this computer from the current network.
To resolve this issue, contact the person responsible for your network".  I am the Administrator.  I removed the Connector Software following the instructions in the "Troubleshooting connecting computers to the Server", but I continue
to get the Error Message whenever I attempt to re-connect the Client Computer.  I have not attempted to connect any of the other three Client Computers yet as I need to resolve this issue first on my primary production machine.  Where am I going
wrong?  Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi PARADOX-RED,
Based on the error messages that you provided, please remove the connector software from Control Panel completely. Then, in the problematic computer, please locate
to: Control Panel-> System-> select Change settings. And select the Computer Name tab in the System Properties dialog box, click
change button. Then in the Computer Name/Domain Changes dialog box, please take the computer out of the domain as a workgroup, and rejoin in new domain.
Please check if this issue can be solved. If it still exists, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,
    Justin Gu

  • TNSPING failure and but surprising connecting through SQL*PLUS

I have Oracle 9i and Oracle 10g express edition installed on my local machine. But since in the path i specified path of Oracle10g first so always tnsnames.ora got picked up from Oracl10g directory which is
         C:\softwares\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\network\admin\sqlnet.ora
Following are the contents of my sqlnet.ora :--->
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS)
Following are the contents of my tnsnames.ora:-->
    CCTD91 =(DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = cctdev91.jankoc.com)(PORT = 1521)))(CONNECT_DATA =(SERVICE_NAME = CCTD91)))
Now when i am doing tnsping to this i got the error as:
    C:\>tnsping cctd91

But when i connect through Oracle 9i client(SQL*Plus) like peter/devworks@CCTD91, then i am able to connect successfully to Oracle 11g.
Could someone let me know why TNSPING is failing for this and then still why i am able to connect thru SQL*PLUS using the name defined in TNSNAMES.ORA. ?

sqlnet.ora is having just one line:
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS)
I tried by adding another line: NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH=(TNSNAMES) but did not make any difference so i removed.

  • Trying to connect through  Netgear

I am trying to connect via Netgear router. My Airport says connected but when I try to connect to internet it won't pull anything. Any suggestions?

I, too tried to connect through Netgear. I got the connection up and running, but the Netgear kept shutting on and off. I finally read the reviews of the new Netgear products and wound up returning it to Fryes. While I was there, I met a Fryes customer- a big corporate IP guy, and he said that a lot of companies are pushing the Netgear line, (they get big incentives) but many companies and individuals that he works with have had nothing but problems on their PCs as well as MACS. He suggested that I switch to the highest end Lynksys, (I used to have an old one). I bought the new Lynksys, installed it in about 15 minutes, and have never had even one problem with it! By the way, he was there to return a Netgear for a client as well! Good Luck, and I hope you solve your problem!

  • Can't view a report connecting through ODBC(RDO)  to DB with InfoView (CMC)

    Environment :
    Crystal Reports machine :
    OS :
    Windows Server 2008 64-bit
    Crystal Reports Developer 2008 SP0
    Crystal Reports Server 2008
    DB Server:
    Windows Server 2003 32-bit
    SQL Server 2000 SP3
    What is going on:
All the reports connecting through ODBC (RDO) to the database server work fine in the developer interface (I can preview them) but cannot be accessed if I try to view them in InfoView / CMC ("Please wait while the document is being processed" message box doesn't go away...).
I have tried both the SQL Server driver 6.00.6001.1800 and SQL Server Native Client 10.0 2007.100.1600.22 with the same results.
PS All the reports using OLE DB work just fine, I would prefer to have the ODBC option working through the web interface because I have a few hundreds report to change otherwise ...
    Virgil Rucsandescu

Our solution is a php web application, but this is not relevant (in my opinion), and here it is why:
The php code should show the reports by using the direct links given by InfoView
    (like http://dev-web:8080/CrystalReports/viewrpt.cwr?id=801&apsuser=user&apspassword=password).
Actually in this moment these links are looking different because currently we're using C.R. 10 + C.R. Server 10, but we are planning to move to CR 2008 + CR Server 2008.
So now I am testing how these direct links do work, they're actually working perfectly till now, but only if I connect through OLEDB to the DB server (SQL Server 2000). Any attempt to do it through the 2 ODBC drivers failed until now.
And I don't want to think about changing the data source hundreds of reports (lot of them having subreports too) ...

The error is saying that for whatever reason APEX_REST_PUBLIC_USER cannot proxy to the SCHEMA (APEX WORKSPACE) where the RESTful Service is defined.
Allow me explain how RESTful Services are invoked in Listener 2.0
    - It is important that the RESTful Service is invoked as the SCHEMA user that the RESTful Service is defined in, to make sure the correct database security rules/constraints are applied when executing the query/pl sql block associated with the service.
    - The mechanism Listener uses to do this is called connection proxying, which is a facility provided by the Oracle database to switch a connection from one user to another.
    - Of course if you could switch from user A to user B without restriction that would not be good. Instead user B must grant user A the privilege to proxy to user B's identity.
    - Thus when an APEX workspace first has a RESTful Service created in it, it performs this grant, giving APEX_REST_PUBLIC_USER the privielge to proxy to the workspace/schema where the RESTful Service is defined.
    - Then when the RESTful Service definition is being evaluated for execution by the listener it proxies from APEX_REST_PUBLIC_USER to the workspace schema user immediately before executing the query/plsql of the service.
    - It looks like the granting of the proxy privilege has not happened/failed for some reason.
    Can you tell me:
    - If the workspace where the service was defined is a newly created workspace, i.e it was created after installing APEX 4.2?
    - If the workspace was created before or after running apex_rest_config.sql?
A manual workaround for your problem would as the SYS user, do:
    ALTER USER <apex_workspace_name> GRANT CONNECT THROUGH apex_rest_public_user;

Please post full Oracle error message including error number such as ORA-XXXX or TNS-XXXX.
It coud be an Oracle Net configuration issue: find all files named tnsnames.ora and try to merge them into the default <ORACLE_HOME>/network/admin/tnsnames.ora which is for XE ORACLE_HOME in your case.
