Web Services Test ORA-28150: proxy not authorized to connect as client

Oracle 11g R2 APEX 4.2 with the latest listener.
Trying to click on the test button on the Oracle.example.hr sample under the SQL WORKSHOP Restful Services and receive the following error:
Internal Service Error 500
Error during evaluation of resource template: GET hr/employees/, SQL Error Code: 28,150, SQL Error Message: ORA-28150: proxy not authorized to connect as client
I have the APEX_REST_PUBLIC_USER and APEX_LISTENER created from the supplied scripts and have executed the DBMS_NETWORK_ACL_ADMIN.ADD_PRIVILEGE.
We can't get the web services to work.
2 days wasted on this issue; Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The error is saying that for whatever reason APEX_REST_PUBLIC_USER cannot proxy to the SCHEMA (APEX WORKSPACE) where the RESTful Service is defined.
Allow me explain how RESTful Services are invoked in Listener 2.0
- It is important that the RESTful Service is invoked as the SCHEMA user that the RESTful Service is defined in, to make sure the correct database security rules/constraints are applied when executing the query/pl sql block associated with the service.
- The mechanism Listener uses to do this is called connection proxying, which is a facility provided by the Oracle database to switch a connection from one user to another.
- Of course if you could switch from user A to user B without restriction that would not be good. Instead user B must grant user A the privilege to proxy to user B's identity.
- Thus when an APEX workspace first has a RESTful Service created in it, it performs this grant, giving APEX_REST_PUBLIC_USER the privielge to proxy to the workspace/schema where the RESTful Service is defined.
- Then when the RESTful Service definition is being evaluated for execution by the listener it proxies from APEX_REST_PUBLIC_USER to the workspace schema user immediately before executing the query/plsql of the service.
- It looks like the granting of the proxy privilege has not happened/failed for some reason.
Can you tell me:
- If the workspace where the service was defined is a newly created workspace, i.e it was created after installing APEX 4.2?
- If the workspace was created before or after running apex_rest_config.sql?
A manual workaround for your problem would as the SYS user, do:
ALTER USER <apex_workspace_name> GRANT CONNECT THROUGH apex_rest_public_user;

  • Error running Web Services in DEMO : User is not Authorized error

    Hi all,
    We created a Web Service in our DEMO installation of ERP9 Tools 8.97, Database Local SSE (User - DEMO, Password-DEMO). The Web Service is using JDE Vanilla BSFN - B0100021 - Formatted Address and created through JDeveloper using JDE BSSV tool.
    When we are running the Web Service (TestCustomWebService) from JDeveloper (Right Click and Run) it is providng an url (http://moequbal:8988/context-root-JP55HOL/TestCustomWebServiceSoapHttpPort) and when we are pasting the URL in the browser and entering a valid value in the Input field and pressiing the 'Invoke' Button, the following Error pops up -
    "<env:Envelope
    xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"
    xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xmlns:ns0="http://oracle.e1.bssv.JP55HOL/types/">

    <faultstring>Internal Server Error (Caught exception while handling request: oracle.e1.bssvfoundation.exception.E1AuthorizationException: User is not authorized to invoke this published business service)</faultstring>
    </env:Fault>
    </env:Body>
    </env:Envelope>"
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Tufan

    I can confirm that the lab and BSSV functionaly works in DEMO, I have it working nicely. However, I dont think you can deploy this to a Business Services server. I haven't tried as yet. but you can test all the published BSSV via jDeveloper to verify that you have the correct code. It starts O4CJ and web services locally and brings up an input web page to enter the AN8, the data outputs to XML.
    Tip:
    1) Make sure that you have an entry in the P00950 security workbench. .
    2) make sure that you select the BSSV item (i.e CustomAddressManager) and select 'set to publish' available (this only appears on checkin) when you check the object in. Make sure that you have entries in the F98601, 602, 603 tables in Object Librarian
    3) Open P00950 select published bssv, click on the grid line (1st column) in the grid form of W00950X click the searchlight, in W00950U hit find you must see your published BSSV in here.
    if not you go back to step 2. You must 'set to publish' for the bssv i.e CustomAddressManager object. Otherwise you will not be able to see in the W00950U form.
    4) Repeat for the 2nd column and Make sure you select the 'Secure by Method' this will take you to W00950Y form and you must select your bssv and select the 'Allow Execute' on the bottom of the form.
    Once you have these in place then you will not get the 'Not authorized' error messages.

  • Web Service Test in SE80 does not work with internal Table

    Hello,
    I have created a web server based on a function module. It works fine when the server is invoked from outside (.Net or SOAPUI).
    However, when I test it in SE80, (open the Server and then F8), it shows error message:
         Access to the table ref. node 'Y02VSI_CAE_CONDITIONITEM' outside a loop
    (Germany Zugriff auf den Tabellen-Ref-Node 'Y02VSI_CAE_CONDITIONITEM' außerhalb einer Schleife )
    The test xml is generated from SAP, I just fill the data as following:
    This XML is absolute correct. Why item ('Y02VSI_CAE_CONDITIONITEM) is outside a loop?
    Is it a bug from SAP?
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards
    Dianlong

    Hi Dianlong,
    Please check if SAP note 1132501 is relevant for your ECC release. If you apply the note, you may have to re-generate the web service from the function module.

  • Web Service Tester not sending parameter to Session bean?

    Hi,
    I've implemented an EJB3 entity bean, a stateless session bean and used the @WebService annotation to make it accessible.
    It deployed fine, and everything seems to work. I use the web service tester to test the methods.
    The findDepartments() method works fine (it doesn't take any input).
    However, this method does not work:
         * Find a specific department
        public Department findDepartment(BigDecimal pk)
            System.out.println("Incoming pk="+pk);
            return em.find(Department.class, pk);
        }Incoming pk is always null. Is there a bug in the WebService tester or something?

    Hmm, ok so this is a bug? As of now the tester page does not support value objects as parameters / return types. Agreed that the error message should be more useful :(
    I do get the same error if I use another soap client
    though, so I find it kind of strange.This is different though. In this case, is the request received at the service side at all ? Which version of app server are you using ? What kind of service is this ? JAXRPC or JAXWS ?

  • Web Service Tester works perfectly but the Web service is not.

    I have a web service developed in EDQ that works as expected when I check using Web Service tester.
    However when the upstream server sends the request to this web service, the response it gets is not as expected. "
    This difference is only for a particular rule.(if Street Address Line 1 is 'Holiday', then the Customer Status should become 'C')
    All the other rules are working s expected.
    What can this difference be due to?
    Thanks and Regards.
    Ravi

    The only logical explanation is that the client sending the request is sending different data. Perhaps it may be something subtle such as trailing whitespace (with the process you have constructed not coping with this)?

  • Web Service Tester - ADF_FACES 60097 error

    Hi Mike / Everyone,
    I  created a very simple process to test it through Web Service Tester, however when clicking on "Send" button in Web Service Tester, i get the following error:
    java.lang.nullpointerexception

  • Web Service consumer using ABAP-PROXY

    Hello,
    I want to test Web Service consumer using ABAP-PROXY . So I do what is explain in the weblog :
    [http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/Snippets/WebServiceconsumerusingABAP-PROXY]
    But when I execute the programm, the message : 'No valid source context supplied'.
    But, proxy and port are ok and activate.
    Can you help me.
    Thanks.

    Hi Jitesh,
    Thanks for the link.  I checked but did not find helpful info there.
    I have managed to make it work yesterday.  Two issues were identified.
    1. The namespace in the WSDL file imported into ESR as an external definition.  I need to create the same namespace in ESR before importing the WSDL and then import the WSDL into that namespace.
    2. The authentication method.  The authentication method in the IIS configuration of the .NET web service has to be set to Basic Authentication.  Then I set logical port of the consumer proxy in the OSAMANAGER to use Basic Authentication also.  So far only the Basic Authentication works in my test scenario.
    I am closing this question.

    Jiannan

  • Web Service help - ORA-30625: method dispatch on NULL SELF errors

    Hi All
    I could do with some assistance getting Web service's up & running on my application
    I've been following this guide but altering to fit in with our internal web services... the Internet police here at work have youtube blocked off so unable to test end to end using the OTN tutorial
    I've created a web service named PASSWORDGEN with the results stored in the collection PASSWORDRESULT
    On my page I've created the process that invokes the webservice PASSWORDGEN which is set to run on load - before header - seq #10
    then created the pl/sql anonymous block process which is set to run on load - before header - seq #20
    I've used the pl/sql example given in the tutorial but substituted their references to collections with my named collection .
    declare
    l_clob clob;
    l_xml xmltype;
    l_val clob;
    begin
    for c1 in (select clob001
    from apex_collections
    where collection_name = 'PASSWORDRESULT'
    ) loop
    l_clob := c1.clob001;
    exit;
    end loop;
    l_xml := xmltype.createxml(l_clob);
    l_val := dbms_xmlgen.convert(l_xml.extract('/methodResponse/params/param/value/string/text()').getclobval(),1);
    apex_collection.update_member_attribute(
    p_collection_name => 'PASSWORDRESULT',
    p_seq => '1',
    p_clob_number => '1',
    p_clob_value => l_val );
    end;
    if I try to run the page at this point I get the error ORA-30625: method dispatch on NULL SELF argument is disallowed
    what I think is happening, from what I've read up on, is that the collection is empty?
    so I'm trying to find out if the web service is not populating the collection correctly or have I made a mistake in the above syntax & trying to reference the collection incorrectly.
    Is there a way I can query the collection using TOAD?
    Edited by: Mr JD on 21-Jul-2010 08:38

    ok so found the collection but when I invoke the web service the collection record is not populated. I've tested the webservice & a result is returned but for some reason when I either run the test or run the page which invokes the web service as a page render process the collection is still not populated.....
    what I'm I missing here as the setup of the web service is pretty straight forward & testing the web service does produce a result within the test window

  • Custom Web Service Test

    Hello everyone,
    I have a custom ABAP function module that I've created a web service (used the web service wizard of course).  I am having a problem when attempting to test my newly created web service. It fails when I perform a test via the Web Service Navigator  and comes up with the following:
    An error has occurred. Maybe the request is not accepted by the server:
    Connection refused (errno:239)
    I have performed numerous searches through SDN and OSS, but came up empty.  I would appreciate any help.
    Thanks,
    Terry

    Ok, I think the problem resides in the Web Services Container in the visual administrator.  I've referenced the help files (see link below), but really don't know what the settings should be.  I know that if Web Service Navigator White List is not populated with the '*' then I can't access the web service at all.  Also, we really don't necessarily need a HTTP proxy setup, but the Bypass proxy server for local addresses checkbox doesn't seem to have any affect.
    Here are the settings I'm referencing:  [Web Services Contianer Service|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/7c/f257422d095542e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm]
    Thanks everyone,

    Hi All,
    We are following the steps mentioned here http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/en/ea/c91141e109ef6fe10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm to configure the message level security in our new PI 7.1 system.
    We have created the RFC destination with prefix /wssproc/plain?style=document. But when we test the RFC connectioon, we get the following error message:
    Status HTTP Response     404
    Status Text     Not Found
    And response body is: Web Service Endpoint URI expected. Not found endpoint with URI /wssproc.
    Are we missing a configuration point? Do we need to create the endpoint manually? And if yes, how?

  • Web Services Test Page: No input fields for SOAP header parameters?

    Hello,
    we're using OracleAS / OC4J 10.1.3.1 and have developed a web service that has some self defined SOAP header parameters.
    I would like to use the Web Services Test Page provided by the OAS but it seems that there is no opportunity
    to provide input values for these SOAP header parameters.
    Do I miss something there or is it not supported by OAS?
    I've read the documentation but could not find a clue.
    any help is appreciated,
    Regards,
    Martin

    I hear you. As you have probably heard, OC4J is being replaced by WebLogic Server and the 10.1.3.x releases are the last that will be produced. We'll do maintenance on it of course, but little/no new feature work. This would be a new feature we'd have to add, so I'm afraid there's not much chance in having it done.
    It's not ideal, and of course more work for you, but if you want to provide your client with a test page that exposes the SOAP headers as form fields, you could always develop and ship one yourself.

  • HTML Web Service Tester

    Please help. I am looking for an html based web service tester.
    I need to input the SOAP 1.1 formatted xml in something like a text
    box and send it to the service without passing through a soap client.
    The return should simply display the xml from the service (fault or
    not).
    I'm guessing that I can not use the usual HTML get or post because the
    xml would end up inside a parameter instead of standing alone when it
    arrives at the server.
    Thanks
    John

    Thanks but that uses a client to build a message.
    I already have the xml message and want to deliver it to the service with little or no overhead. I would normally just use a JSP but this is a typical rush situation and I don't have the days it takes to get a new JSP deployed into our environment.

  • Adding security to a web service then generating a proxy [SOLVED]

    Hi
    I generated a web service based on a very simple java program. I have deployed it to a local oc4j install and successfully called it from a proxy generated from jdev. I am using 10.1.3.3.0.
    I added security to the web service and regenerated the proxy. I wanted to see the difference in the SOAP messages sent to the web service. However the proxy does not seem to have changed to take account of the new security settings on the web service.
    The security options I set were:
    On main security dialog: Ticked the port and "Text Password"
    On Authentication: Ticked "Expect Username ti Authenticate"
    "Password Required"
    Password Type = "Plain Text"
    "Nonce Required in Token"
    "Creation Time Required in Token"
    I have 2 questions:
    1. How do I get the proxy to send SOAP messages that contain the security headers required to run the web service. Here is the main method from my proxy. I thought adding setUsername and setPassword would be the solution
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            try {
                gpn3.Getphonenum3SoapHttpPortClient myPort = new gpn3.Getphonenum3SoapHttpPortClient();
                System.out.println("calling " + myPort.getEndpoint());
                // Add your own code here
                myPort.setUsername("oc4jadmin");
                myPort.setPassword("welcome");
                myPort.getNum("Lisa");
            } catch (Exception ex) {
                ex.printStackTrace();
    2. When the web service receives a user name and password what does it check them against? I assume the oc4jadmin user will be allowed access but how do I set up other users?
    many thanks

    I have figured this out now
    1. I needed to set the same security settings in my proxy as I did for my web service. I had assumed that the proxy would generate the necessary security settings from the web service.
    2. For some reason my web service application is using the system level jazn-data xml file
    oc4j_extended_101330/j2ee/home/config/system-jazn-data.xml
    This does include the oc4jadmin user and I am now able to use that account to call the web service. I also managed to add another user and use that account to call the web service successfully.
    Thanks for the help

  • Web service test client

    I need to write a tool for internal web service testing, like the one wls admin console has. But I need the tool to run separately, meaning from app, either using jsp, servlet or jpf. How can I access the web service? Do I have to generate client jar for each of my web service to test? What is the underline implementation of wls_utc? Thanks!
    Thanks!

    I guess SOAPUI is not an option for you...?
    Personally I have always used Axis2 WSDL2Java with great success, it never failed. It will generate the SOAP client for you (if you use SOAP, otherwise I guess for REST also there is some support)
