Connecting to Exchange 2000 with IMAP-SSL on alternate port

Hi all,
So we've got this exchange 2k server that I can somehow manage to connect to using a Treo as well as Entourage reasonably well. Am not interested in using OWA. Am trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong - when I click "Save" on the config. Here's the essential elements of the config I'm using:
Name: My name
Address: [email protected]
Description: Work
Incoming
Host Name: mail.domain.example:2093 <---our alternate port
User Name: My AD username (NOT the same as the email alias)
Password: _
Outgoing
Host Name: mail.domain.example:445
User Name: etc
When I click "Save" it says "Cannot Connect Using SSL. Do you want to try setting up the account without SSL?" If I click "Yes" then it nags me but otherwise goes to the settings screen. I can see that it's properly interpreted the server ports, SSL is turned on, etc.
Going to the Mail app, sure enough, I get "Cannot Get Mail. The connection to the server 'mail.domain.example:2093' failed."
I know that this setup works on my Treo, the server is up and running and I can telnet to it on port 2093, and the SSL certificate is not self-signed but instead purchased from a regular commercial CA.
We're not going to break existing stuff (like the mail applications on all our treos) by changing that oddball port assignment, and it appears that an upgrade to the mail server is still well off. In the meantime, how do I work around this apparent limitation in Mail.app on the iPod/iPhone? (Hint: I'm getting a lot of requests for this)

  • Connect to Exchange 2013 using IMAP/SMTP from the Internet

    Hello,
I would like to enable connectivity to my exchange server using imap and smtp. my exchange server is using the default configuration for imap and smtp which are port 143 and 25 respectively. I have two exchange servers both with CAS and MB roles
installed. I also have an edge server on my DMZ. I have also published my OWA using IIS ARR module. I wonder where I should direct my traffic from my firewall to enable IMAP connectivity taking into considerations my two servers with CAS and MB roles are inside
my network. I also wonder how I can enable redundancy for IMAP connections. Thanks a lot.

    Hi Pooriya,
When you install Microsoft Exchange Server 2013, IMAP4 client connectivity isn't enabled. We can do the following steps to configure it:
    1. Start two IMAP services: the Microsoft Exchange IMAP4 service and the Microsoft Exchange IMAP4 Backend service.
    Set-service msExchangeIMAP4 -startuptype automatic
    Start-service msExchangeIMAP4
    Set-service msExchangeIMAP4BE -startuptype automatic
    Start-service msExchangeIMAP4BE
    2. Make sure there is an valid certificate which is assigned with IMAP service. Also confirm the Published Exchange server name (For example: mail.domain.com) has been included in this certificate:
    Get-ExchangeCertificate | FL
    3. Configure the external IMAP connection settings:
    Set-ImapSettings -ExternalConnectionSetting {mail.domain.com:993:SSL}
    4. Configure SMTP settings:
    Get-ReceiveConnector "*\client Frontend*" | Set-ReceiveConnector -AdvertiseClientSettings $true -Fqdn mail.domain.com
    5. You must restart IIS service (running IISReset /noforce from the Command Prompt window) after applying all settings.

  • Connection beetween Exchange 2013 with outlook client 2007 SP3

    Hi All,
My company reinstall exchange 2013 when the previous mailbox DB error. When I implemeted a new server. I configured step by step carefully. if we use outlook 2010 connect to exchange server, send/receive work normally. But someone, uses outlook 2007 SP3,

    Hi,
Would you please let me know edition information of the Windows Server? Is it a Windows Server 2012, Windows
    Server 2012 R2 or other?
On current situation, please refer to following KB and check if can help you.
Sometimes e-mail messages do not appear in your
Cached mode Inbox even though they were synchronized down from your mailbox
By the way. Based on your description, this issue seems to be more related to Outlook 2007. If this issue still
exists, I suggest that you should post in
Outlook forum. I believe we will get a better assistance there.
If any update, please feel free to let me know.
    Hope this helps.

  • Connecting to Exchange works with Intel, but not PPC machines????

I work in an office with several Macs, Intel and PPC. Using Mail.app, we can connect fine to our exchange server with the Intel boxes, but the PPC machines have problems. Connection Doctor actually shows that you are connected, but you don't see anything in the Mail.app UI. The mailbox is grayed out. And if you try sending a message out anyway, it does go out and can be viewed via Web Access. The Mail.app configuration is identical, so the only differences I see are Intel vs. PPC and the version of Mail on Intel is slightly newer. Intel has Mail 2.1.1 (252.3) whereas the PPC machines have Mail 2.1 (252/252.2). All machines run 10.4.8.
    Any thoughts?

Hey man I figured it out. If you have too many emails in your inbox its causing the server to timeout or something.
The solution is to move all the emails from your inbox to a temporary folder. Then move back only what you need. Within five minutes push was working for me again and my battery problem went away because it wasn't constantly trying to pull down email.

  • IMAP SSL "required" but port 143 is still listening!

After setting GWIA's IMAP SSL to "required", then restarting GWIA, netstat revealed that the server is still listening on port 143...?
Is this normal, or have I missed something?

  • Trouble connecting to MS Exchange server with IMAP

I've been trying to setup Apple mail to talk with the Exchange server at work.
I've had no luck after many attempts.
    Mac Mini, Intel Core Duo
    OS X 10.4.5
    Mail 2.0.6
I can connect to the mail server using Safari via Outlook Web Access fine, so my account information must be good...
The sys admin at work, though not Mac savvy, said to use IMAP.
A few other Mac users at work have gotten this to work from their homes with no hassles but non of their suggestions have helped.
    The account parameters are:
    General Information
    Account Type: IMAP
    Account Description: IMAP Account
    Fill Name: First-name Last-name
    Email Address: <user>@<domain>.com
    Incoming Mail Server
    Incoming Mail Server: mail.<domain>.com
    User Name: <windows-domainname>\user
    Password: <password>
After this window I click Continue and wait ....
Eventually Mail times out with the message:
The IMAP server mail.<domain>.com is not responding ...
    Can someone help ...
    Some related questions:
Do I need have the VPN to work established for Mail to work ?
I've tried it both ways and they both fail.
How do I get additional debug/log information out of mail ?
What is the difference between an Exchange account and an IMAP account ?

Try enabling a secure connection to the IMAP-server in account setup (which also should change the port to be used).
Try using the servername found in the WebAccess URL (http://servername/exchange) instead of mail.<domain>.com if it is different.
Try using user@windows-domainname instead of windows-domainname\user.
If this all does not help, be sure to enable your AD-account for IMAP-access. This is a per account configuration. Just installing the IMAP-connector on the Exchange-server does not grant IMAP-access to everybody.

  • HT1277 I'm having trouble connecting my Exchange Server with my Apple Mail product.

Per setting up the account, I'm getting email, so, I believe my Exchange IMAP is correct, but, I cannot send email to anyone outside my internal network.  The wierd thing is that when I go to the Connection Doctor (after I get the Try Again...or...Try Again with Selected Server screen), I get a green light on the SMTP Server and a red light on the Exchange IMAP Server.  Any comments would be appreciated.

    Edgar,
I highly recommend, if you live in an area where there may be overlapping WiFi networks..  use recent OS X's hidden WiFi Diagnostics utility......
Hold down the Option key, click on the WiFi icon in the menu bar and click on Open WiFi Diagnostics... This works for (maybe 10.7... cant remember..) 10.8,10.9 and 10.10.
...and check for any nearby WiFis that may be on the same channel.... and if there are, change your WiFi channel to a different one so your signal remains clear  of interference and more importantly uninterrupted... LR seems very susceptible to such brief 'breaks' or interruptions...
Personally because of where I live, there are no competing networks and I have no issues at all using LR with any of my 5 LP rigs here.. switching between them at will....
The only other item of interest that I have found when troubleshooting such issues.. is the use of non Apple Routers..... and a failure of automatic port forwarding for example...but this cause usually prevents connection altogether and not intermittent issues... Haven't come across anyone using an Airport Extreme for example.. from 2009 onwards, who has any issues connecting LR to LPX... but a number of older Netgear, TP-Link and D-Links ones seems to have this issue at times...
    Cheers..
    Nigel

  • IPhone can connect to Exchange Server with incorrect password!

I have changed my Active Directory password, but have not entered the new password into the Exchange account settings on my iPhone. Nevertheless, my iPhone can still connect and get mail from Exchange. Thinking that perhaps it was because the iPhone was still working with a connection that had been established before I changed my password, I turned it off and turned it back on again -- and it connected and got new mail!

Don't blame the phone just yet.
The server is where the problem is..... The Exchange Server/IIS front end is the gatekeeper to your email. If the password is sent wrong, the server will reject you. Conversely, if your Exchange server is not authenticating at all, it will let anyone in.
What is probably happening is that your password has not synchronized from AD to Exchange. This is not unheard of, but if it persists you should let your Sys Admin know.
My guess is that you can log into your OWA (Web mail) with your old password as well.

  • Cannot read message bodystructure from Exchange 2010 with IMAP

    Hi,
I'm trying to read mails from MS Exchange 2010 that have multipart/mixed content type and contain only one text/html part. I'm using IMAP and the newest Javamail 1.4.3. The mail processing fails when trying to fetch the bodystructure. I can process the same message perfectly well from Exchange 2003:

This seems to me like a bug in Exchange 2010, but does anyone know any work-around for this other than using POP3 that works with the same message?

  • Access denial on connecting SQL server 2000 with Microsoft JDBC driver

    Hi guys,
I am developping a BMP invoking procedures stored in a SQL server 2000 instance on the Sun RI platform. I am using the Microsoft type 4 JDBC driver.
the connection pattern is something like
    jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://ambassador:1433;User=sa;Password;DataBase=Forethought;SelectMethod=cursor
An type-like "access denied" exception is raised when trying to get the connection from the DataSource object with some code similar to :
    DataSource objDS = (DataSource)objCtx.lookup("jdbc/Forethought");
    Connection objConn = ds.getConnection();
I have realised a CMP to access the database and everything works fine.
It seems that the SunRI tries to get the db connection with an "impersonated " user even if i have specified the user name and password in the connection string.
Does anyone have an idea how to force the connection with SQL Server user name and password ??

I come accorss the same problem too,
    my URL jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://ambassador:1433;User=sa;Password=123;DatabaseName=pubs
and the password is right.I can establish connection to SQL server 2000 by JDBC Driver Manager, the code as follow:
    Class.forName("com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver");
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection
    ("jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://localhost:1433;User=sa;Password=123");

    Hi..
We are using our own developed web mail program using IMAP protocol.

After run reconstruct user can see their mail.
Is there Anyone know what that errors means ?
Any ideas on how to fix it ?

    Thanks

The error indicates that the store.idx file does not reflect the true status of the mailbox. Store.idx is a binary file that Messaging Server maintains to improve performance of getting data from the user's inbox.
The problem you describe can be caused by manual manipulation of the user's mailbox (removing files, adding files, etc), disk errors, and, yes, bugs. 5.2p2 is the latest PUBLICALLY available version of 5.2, but Tech Support has much later versions. I suggest contacting tech support and requesting a current hotfix. I cannot give you that, here.
Or, you can upgrade to 6.2....

  • Connecting 4 Nexus 2000 with Nexus 7000

    Hi ,
    I have two N7K-F248XP-25  going to be installed in one Nexus 7009 and I have 4 N2K-C2248TP-1GE (48x100/1000-T+4x10GE) .
In simple way, I have two F2 line cards within one N7K and 4 N2Ks. The N7K will be used as a parent switch and it has NX-OS version 6.0
So I want to connect the 4 N2K to the two F2 line cards in a redundant fasion, can some one tell me the best practice of how to connect those N2Ks?
I have read somewhere that I can only use two ports from each 4 shared ports but I am not sure if this is true. I will appreciate any input or a link.
    Thanks

That was Awesome link! Thanks indeed.
So can you please confirm if I am following the F2 + FEX rule
Again, I have only one Nexus 7009 and 4 x N2K , so I have two F2 cards on the Nexust 7009. Here is my connectivity plan:
    1st N2K to port 1 on the first F2
    1st N2K to port 1 on the second F2
    2nd N2K to port 2 on the first F2
    2nd N2K to port 2 on the second F2
    3rd N2K to port 3 on the first F2
    3rd N2K to port 3 on the second F2
    4rth N2K to port 4 on the first F2
    4rth N2K to port 4 on the second F2
So eventually , I am planning to use one group (4 ports) on each F2 card for all the connectivity to those N2K Switches.
Also, I will have a total of 4 port channels .. right ? 1 Port channel for each N2K
    I will appreciate your feedback!

  • How to connect to SQL server 2000 with Oracle Form

    Hi,
I'm looking for the document of how to connect "SQL Server 2000" with Oracle Form 6i. Anyone knows that?

    Shay or other knowledgeable folks,
Is there a way to utilize the wizard for "Business Tier > ADF Business Components > Business Components from Tables" for SQL Server 2000, 2005 or 2008. I can successfully execute sql via java programmatically or import a table from SQL Server with "Business Tier > ADF Business Components > Entity Object" wizard, but the Business Components from Tables simply doesn't see any tables under any schema. Without the "Business Components from Tables", i don't get the referential constraints imported into the application and to code all those from scratch is just not as elegant. So far i have only utilized the sql server jdbc driver from Microsoft (versions, 1.1, 1.2 and 2.0). Is there an alternative client that i need to use to enable selecting tables from that "Business Components from Tables" wizard. Is this a limitation of SQL Server, the jdbc driver or the wizard itself? Did anybody else experience the same issues? I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.0.1 against SQL Server 2005 (currently)
    Thanks,
    Andy

  • Connecting to Exchange 2003

I am a PC guy, but just bought a Macbook Pro. I have a little Mac experience, but overall I am very new to the Mac. I bought Office 2008 Home/Student and like an idiot, I didn't read the specs. Obviously Office 2008 Home/Student doesn't include Exchange Server support. Where I am employed we use and I support and administer an Exchange 2003 server and I do contract work for a company that runs Exchange, as well. In essence, I am planning on supporting and using Exchange for many years to come. Besides Entourage with Exchange support, does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions on how to connect to Exchange from the Mac?

there is/was something odd about the calendar and public folders, but I can't recall what it was. I know it can be done, just can't recall the particulars.
Heres a setup guide for both entourage and apple mail:
    http://www.mactech.com/articles/mactech/Vol.20/20.12/UsingEntourage/index.html
Exchange 2000 with SP 2 or later can provide mail, public folders, and calendaring - the basics of dealing with Exchange from the windows-user perspective. The latest version of server even allows full Active Directory integration for Exchange (as well as Mail), so that a client Mac isn't any different in usage from a Windows box.
    or try this:

  • Outlook connection to exchange server problem

We have a new domain and an existing exchange server. The problem is if i log in with a local computer account i can autodiscover and connect in cached mode to exchange no problem. If i then login with a domain user account the same computer (tried on other
workstations) will fail to auto discover, fail to connect to exchange even with manual settings. I cant find anything obvious in Group policy.
The server is setup with the latest 2013 Group policy templates with office 2013 templates
Users not logged in with the new AD server can connect to exchange
Users not logged into the domain can access exchange server
My feeling is its a local setting that is missing or needs to be changed in Group Policy but i am at a loss as to what it could be
I have disabled roaming profiles too and it makes no difference.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Steve

    Hi,
Sorry for my delay. According to your description, I summarize your issue to the following points:
    1. No problem when the user logs in Outlook with a local computer account in Cached mode.
    2. Can’t connect to Exchange from an cache mode enabled Outlook 2013 client when using a domain user account on the same computer automatically or manually.
    3. Can connect to Exchange from an online mode enabled Outlook 2013 client when using a domain user account on the same computer automatically or manually.
It is right? If I misunderstand, please feel free to point it out. Additionally, I noticed that the server is setup with the latest 2013 Group policy templates with office 2013 templates. Please confirm
if the Outlook cache mode is disabled by OTC or GPO. If there is following registry key applied on the machine:
    Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Cached Mode
Meanwhile, please try to install an Outlook 2013 with a fresh ISO file(Don’t use any template such as OCT template), see if the Cached mode Outlook can connect to Exchange server.
    Waiting for your updates.
