Connecting to Oracle 9i with Win CE application

Hello!
I want to connect to Oracle 9i from an application running on Windows CE. This application has to be programmed using C++.
Is that possible? Are there any C++ APIs, Client-Dlls or ODBC drivers for Windows CE?
Best regards,
Andreas Kämpf

Hi!
Not yet, but the Windows CE app isn't supposed to run on a mobile device. I'm using Win CE as RTOS. Therefore I need a light, high performance connection to the Oracle DB. I don't like the idea of middleware between the RTOS and the DB.
Isn't there a way to connect to Oracle with a good performance?
Best regards,
Andreas Kämpf

    Hi,

    Hi Daniel:
    I've solved the problem mentioned above. It requires two settings:
    I) Enabling Multithreaded Server Support for IIOP Clients;
    II) Listener's listening to port 2481
    Of course you should have installed JServer into your Oracle 8i database.
    In your init.ora file, you should have the following two lines:
    mts_dispatchers = "(PROTOCOL=TCP)(PRE=oracle.aurora.server.SGiopServer)"
    mts_dispatchers = "(protocol=TCP)"
    To confirm this you may use SQLPLUS to list the parameters of the database setting:
    mts_dispatchers string (PROTOCOL=TCP)(PRE=oracle.aurora.server.SGiopServer), (protocol=TCP)
    mts_servers integer 1
    And in TNSnames.ora file the setting should like this:
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = wangsvr)(PORT = 1521))
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = wangsvr)(PORT = 2481))
    All these two settings ( init.ora and tnsnames.ora ) can be done with "Database Configuration Assistant" and "Net8 Assistant"
    I solved my problem this way, your problem may not the same but anyway you may try it.

  • Error when connecting an oracle DB with Integration gateway

    I followed the steps from the blog How to connect an Oracle DB with Integration Gateway in SMP3 and the ojdbc was deployed successfully to SMP. Still, i'm getting "Driver class oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver not found" error message when i try to test my connection. The first difference i saw when completing these steps was that I'm using SMP3 SP05, could this be the issue?

    Joao D Franco Net
    Could you share below information:
    Can you cross check if deployed driver are OSGi enabled? Refer this.
    Can you share screenshot of the destination settings and error ?
    note: The blog you followed is referring to SP03 (1st GA of SMP3)..You should not have any problem in connecting to Oracle DB being on any SP.

    Hi All,

    Thanx

    Hi "User", seems you have the same problem
    like all that do their first-time install :-)
    Forms uses a different Oracle_HOME (required by setup), and hence does not "see" the "settings" of the normal client.
    Try the following:
    - Set up a connection with NET80-Tools
    - Test with SQL*PLUS
    - Copy "tnsnames.ora" from the Client-81-Home
    to the forms-Home, e.g.
    cd ORACLE/FORMS/NET80/ADMIN
    copy ORACLE/ORA81/NETWORK/ADMIN/tnsnames.ora
    Of course, you'll have to check for YOUR
    directory names...this is just a samples, resp. mthe setup of a machiche I configured yesterday. HTH.

    Sabrina,
    Its all dependent on the application and whether its 32-bit or 64-bit.  For example, SSRS reporting services 2008 R2 is a 64-bit application, so load the 64-bit oracle client there for report execution.  Report builder is a 32-bit client application,
    assuming its running on a different machine, so load the 32-bit oracle client on any user computers using RB 3.0 and working with Oracle.  If the computers are one in the same, then do as the post above says, load both...

    Install and put working a sqlnet working client (install the Oracle Client option of the Oracle Database CD ROM). Than compile php with the --oci option. Than try the samples in php.net (oci function in the help).
    These are the steps... Put everything working is a little more complicated...

  • Itunessetup.exe not valid with Win 32 application

    Trying to install Itunes and it says C:\Documentsandsettings\Joe\temporaryinternetfiles\Conten.IES\ZMC5K011\iTunesSe tup.exe is not a valid WIN 32 Application.
    Need help

    If using a different browser doesn't help, the simplest way out of this is to get a friend to download the installer for you and put it on a memory stick for you. Preferably a copy that they know works.
    There is a suspicion that the problem lies in the router. Also the problem seems to be common for those connecting via a USB dongle.

  • Unable to connect to oracle source with SSIS connection manager

    I have oracle drivers installed and I  am trying to connect to oracle database by using SSIS with oracle provider
    Oledb but receiving error as:
    Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. No error message available, result code: E_UNEXPECTED(0x8000FFFF).Any suggestions
    Thanks..

    http://sqlblog.com/blogs/jorg_klein/archive/2011/06/09/ssis-connect-to-oracle-on-a-64-bit-machine.aspx
    Solution
    Download the Oracle 11G full client.
    Install the 32 AND the 64 bit version of the
    11G full client (Installation Type: Administrator) and reboot the server afterwards. The 32 bit version is needed for development from BIDS with is 32 bit, the 64 bit version is needed for production with the SQLAgent, which is 64 bit.
    Configure the Oracle clients (both 32 and 64 bits) by editing  the files
    tnsnames.ora and
    sqlnet.ora. Try to do this with an Oracle DBA or, even better, let him/her do this.
    Use the "Oracle provider for OLE DB" from SSIS, don't use the "Microsoft Provider for Oracle" because a 64 bit version of it does not exist.
    Schedule your packages with the SQLAgent.

  • High Availability Oracle DB with Win+Linux Box

    Hi ,
    I have two servers available ,one windows 2003 and another Redhat 4.
    I want to use RH4 for my Oracle 10g Database. Is there a method using which I can use my windows server in case Red hat system fails and continue to use my Oracle Database with minimum down time?
    Regards,
    Kumar

    VMWARE can be too slow oracle in production environment.You will not be using it for production, rather only as backup and in case you would need to use it because of a disaster, then you should be able to recover main server ASAP. If you think it is this much critical, then your management should invest more for a new redundant server.

  • Trouble to connect to Oracle Lite with JDBC

    Hi.
    I have installed Oracle Lite 9i on my PC (Win 2000 Pro). Then I connected an HP Jornada 525 (WinCE 3.0) and with
    ActiveSync I installed the Oracle Mobile Client. Using MSql, I created some tables and did some data inserts - Oracle
    is working fine on the Pocket PC. The next step was to create an Java application that will run on the Jornada to
    connect to this database and edit its data. Here is the initial source code:
    import java.sql.*;
    public class JDBCEX {
    public void JDBCEX () {
    public static void main(String args[]) {
    Connection conn = null;
    Statement stmt = null;
    ResultSet retset = null;
    try {
    Class.forName("oracle.lite.poljdbc.POLJDBCDriver");
    conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:Polite:Polite","system", "manager");
    catch (Exception e) {
    System.out.println(e);
    System.exit(0);
    This works fine on my PC, but in the Pocket PC it gave me: java.sql.SQLException: Internal Error. This after I expanded
    the jar files, 'cause before it tells me that ther is no oljdbc40 on the shared library path. I adjusted the classpath on the
    registry, but i does not have any impact ... There is no file with name oljdbc40, only JARs olite40 and olitejdbc40. I installed
    olitejdbcpj40.jar, and setting this library leads to the same error above.
    What could be wrong? Do you have any tutorial or can you list all steps necessary to bring this working?
    Thanks

    If you're attempting to use the ODBC API directly, have you downloaded the ODBC SDK from Microsoft? That will include some sample code, which is a great starting point. So far as I'm aware, you shouldn't need to configure anything in Borland C++ that you don't have to configure in any other C++ compiler to use ODBC.

  • Connecting to Oracle 8i.7 Database on Application Server 10g (10.1.2)

    Hi
    Dear All
    i have gust installed Oracle Application Infrastructure & middle tire 10g(10.1.2)
    and i am asking
    for the capability to connect (After Configuring Tnsname) to Oracle Database 8i(8.1.7.0.0)
    the message after trying to connect is :
    Connecting to This Version of database is no longer supported ..!
    and please i want clarification note if we can't connect to give my officer so we can discuss the upgrade for database to 10g.
    Best Regards .
    Ibrahim.

    Bug 3437884 - 10g client cannot connect to 8.1.7.0 - 8.1.7.3 server : if your Customer needs to stay on 8i, then the last available patch should be applied.
    10.1.4 Client (the one used by AS 10.1.2) shouldn't have problems with 8.1.7.4 DB.

  • Connecting to Oracle db with correct user and pass

    OK, Hi, I'm New with java script and here's what I have:
    1- A user login.
    - Once he's authentified he can travel trought the pages.
    2- Each user has special responsabilities
    - So when we execte as request ton the oracle db we connect using a certain db user (and password)
    Now what I need to know is:
    How do poeple usually take that user (and password)
    without hard-coding it in the connection string...
    I know this question may seem weird.. and incomplete, but the only reason is because i'm new with this language and I'm missing some information I have read many tutorials and PDF's but I hope some body can just give me an idea about this.
    Powel [;)]

    Hi,
    I think the easiest way is like this:
    in firstJsp.jsp
    <form action="secondJsp.jsp">
    <input
    type="text"
    name="userName"
    />
    <input
    type="password"
    name="userPassword"
    />
    </form>
    in secondJsp.jsp:
    User name <%=request.getParameter("userName")%>
    User password <%=request.getParameter("userPassword")%>
    I mean, in secondJsp.jsp you will allready have name and password as request parameters.
    But it's not the good and smart way of doing it. If you have to create just few pages then OK, but it doesn't seems so (i think nobody uses ORACLE for small applications).
    You should look at Struts framework. That brilliant thing to create such applications.
    Hope it helps.
    good luck

    Hi,
    first you must uninstall the 64 bit version.
    But you can install the 32bit version on a 64bit OS.
    When you install the 32bit version please make sure to not install into the "Program Files (x86)" Folder - somethimes i had problems with the "(" ")".
