Connection error from Oracle 9i JDeveloper to Oracle 9i
Hi,
I have the oracle 9i database installed on my local box.
I have Oracle 9i JDeveloper installed 2. I am trying to configure a connection from JDeveloper to Oracle 9i.
I get the following error message:

Connectivity issues from Oracle to Sybase
Friends.
I have connectivity issue from Oracle 9.2.0.1 to Sybase 12.5 ASE .I am connecting through the database link in oracle to access the tables.
The error message i am getting :
select count(*) from TEST_TABLE@IND_TEST;
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
523 80
ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from IND_TEST
Please guide me how to solve this error message. is it version incompatible now?
Thanks
RockyHi,
You are now making the connection to the Sybase database but there is a problem with the user and password used in the database link.
Sybase is case sensitive for names so you need to surround the user/password in double quotes to make sure they are passed to Sybase in the correct case -
create database link ind_test connect to "sybuser" identified by "sybpass" using 'tnsnames_ora_entry' ;
where sybuser is the userid as created in Sybase with the password sybpass.
If they were setup in Sybase in mixed case then it would be -
create database link ind_test connect to "Sybuser" identified by "Sybpass" using 'tnsnames_ora_entry' ;

Mike

hi,
i)what is the cwbcfg program to be executed you have mentioned.
ii) I executed caths.sql
iii) In tnsnames.ora how to specify the dsn that you create for db2 database.
for example if I have created a dsn for db2 naming it kishore_dsn, how do i specify that in tnsnames.ora file.
and by what sid is the iniths_sid.ora to be created. is it the dsn you create for db2 database. for ex. if dsn name is kishore_dsn, should the file be initkishore_dsn.ora, or it should be the name of local oracle database service.

I am getting ora-12154 tns could not resolve service name, while tring to access db2 after creating public links.
I would appreciate if you can send me step by step generic connectivity ,connecting db2 from oracle.

ORA-12154 Connection error from HFM to Oracle Database
Hi,
I am trying to configure Hyperion HFM but can write to HFM database.
The implementation architecture:
Hyperion 11.1.2.2 (with all the requiered patches for HFM, FDM, Shared Services, Workspace and Oracle Application Development)
Server 1:
Windows Server 2008 x64
Installed products: Foundation (EPMA, CalcManager), BI, HFM web components and ADM driver
Configured products: Foundation(EPMA, CalcManager), BI.
Database Client: 11gR2 x64
Server 2:
Windows Server 2008 x64
Installed products: HFM, FDQM
Configured Products: FDQM, HFM
Database Client: 11gR2 x32, 11gR2 x64 (x32 version installed first)
Server 3:
Database: Oracle 11.2.0.2
All the products from server 1 are working fine, FDQM (server 2) is also working fine, but, when I try to do any action related with HFM database the system fails.
I have tested the connection is these scenarios:
1. SQLdeveloper: successfull!, I can create tables, views, etc. Double checking the user privileges it has all the required.
2. tnsping: successfull!
3. HFMApplicationCopy utility: Successfull using UDL file and writing the connection parameters.
4. EPM System Configurator: the configurator successfully validates the database connection information, but does not create the tables on the database. No errors in the configtool log.
5. EPM Diagnostic Tool: fails with this error message:

Edited by: Otein on 19-oct-2012 14:04Hi,
I Have solved one of my problems, the one that keep HFM from connecting to the Oracle database.
I just change the TNSNAMES.ORA, like this:
Initial tnsnames.ora
PRUEBA.WORLD=
+(DESCRIPTION_LIST =+
+(DESCRIPTION =+
+(LOAD_BALANACE = ON)+
+(FAILOVER = ON)+
+(ADDRESS_LIST =+
+(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = <server_name>)(PORT = <port>))+
+)+
+(CONNECT_DATA =+
+(SERVICE_NAME = <service_name>)+
+)+
+)+
+)+
Modified tnsnames.ora
PRUEBA.WORLD=
+(DESCRIPTION =+
+(LOAD_BALANACE = ON)+
+(FAILOVER = ON)+
+(ADDRESS_LIST =+
+(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = <server_name>)(PORT = <port>))+
+)+
+(CONNECT_DATA =+
+(SERVICE_NAME = <service_name>)+
+)+
+)+
I Just delete the line "+(DESCRIPTION_LIST =+" and its corresponding closing parenthesis, I did this cause in the configuration utility log I saw this line:
+TNS parsing: Entry: DESCRIPTION_LIST [[Address: Protocol:(TCP) Host:(<server_name>) Port:(1521) SID:(<service_name>)]]+
So, if the applications were trying to connect to connection descriptor DESCRIPTION_LIST, the driver could not recognize DESCRIPTION_LIST as a valid one.
There is a lot going on behind the scenes when you work with Oracle Database as the repository, maybe there is some other way to address this issue, but it worked for me, hope it can help you too. -
DB Link Error from Oracle to Mysql
Hi ,
I have created the dblink from oralce to mysql using note id 1320645.1
I am getting the below error while connecting to the mysql using the dblink
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:

ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from MYODBC5
Please help me to slove the error
Thanks in Advance
SudheerSudheer,
the error message is self explaining - your user 'user' connecting from the host @'xxxx.xxxx.xxxx' is not allowed to log into the MySQL database. To solve this issue you need to grant permissions to the user so that he can connect from any host (%) or just from that particular host where you installed the gateway.
The command to allow access from everywhere would be:
grant all on *.* TO '<user>'@'%' IDENTIFIED BY '<password>';
or just specify the IP address instead of '%' if you want to restrict it.
More details can be found in the MySQL manual:
MySQL :: MySQL 5.1 Reference Manual :: 6.2.7 Causes of Access-Denied Errors

ORA-28500 and ORA-02063 while connecting MySQL from Oracle-
Dear All,
My Database is Oracle 11gR2 Rac of 2 nodes and on Linux 64-Bit operating system.
Version of my MySQL database is 5.5.17 it is on Linux 32-Bit operating system.
I am trying to connect MySQL database from Oracle database using a database link.
These are the step by step process that I am following to achieve my target. All my processes are on one node of Oracle RAC.
1)
Yum install mysql-connector-odbc
Yum install unixODBC
2)
Edit file /etc/odbc.ini
[test]
Driver = /usr/lib64/libmyodbc3.so
Description = MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver DSN
SERVER = 10.0.0.1
PORT = 3306
USER = test
Password = test
Database = test
OPTION = 3
SOCKET =
3)
Edit file /etc/odbcinst.ini
[MySQL]
Description = ODBC for MySQL
Driver = /usr/lib64/libmyodbc3.so
Setup = /usr/lib64/libodbcmyS.so
FileUsage = 1
4) test connection
isql –v test test test
Returns:
Connected!

sql-statement
help [tablename]
quit

SQL>
5) Now I edit listener.ora file and add the entry. After entry my listener.ora file is like this:
LISTENER =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1521))
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = LISTENER))
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST=testnode1)(PORT = 1521))

(SID_NAME = test)
(ENVS=LD_LIBRARY_PATH = /usr/local/lib:/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/lib)
6) After these entries the listener status after RESTART is as following:
LSNRCTL> status

The command completed successfully
7) Then in the tnsnames.ora file I added the following entry:
EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS =
(PROTOCOL = IPC)
(KEY = EXTPROC1521)
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SID = PLSExtProc)
(PRESENTATION = RO)
test =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 10.0.0.1)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SID = test)
(HS = OK)
When i tnsping test, it works.
8) I edit the .bash_profile file for Oracle
ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_BASE were already pointing to the correct destination, I added:
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib:/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1/lib:/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/hs/lib:/usr/lib64:/usr/lib
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH
ODBCINI=/etc/odbc.ini
export ODBCINI
ODBCINSTINI=/etc/odbc.ini
export ODBCINSTINI
ODBCSYSINI=/etc
export ODBCSYSINI
9) Then i configured $ORACLE_HOME/hs/admin/inithsodbc.ora
And Modified these lines:
HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = test
HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = ON
HS_FDS_TRACE_FILE_NAME = odbc_test.log
HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = 4
HS_FDS_SHAREABLE_NAME = /usr/lib64/libodbc.so
HS_FDS_SUPPORT_STATISCTICS = FALSE
HS_LANGUAGE = AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1
set ODBCINI = /etc/odbc.ini
10) Then i created a database link with the following command:
Create public database link test connect to test identified by test using ‘test’;
I tried username and password in database link with double quotes also.
11) Now Finally when I try to select records from mysql table:
select count(*) from "table"@"test"; -- I have tried with and without double quotes
I get the following error:
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
ORA-02063: preceding line from TEST
How to get through this error, and how to check logs for HS?
Your help is required.

Edited by: misterimran on Dec 27, 2011 1:21 PMHi,
In your listener.ora for the DG4ODBC entry you had -
(ENVS=LD_LIBRARY_PATH = /usr/local/lib:/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/lib)
but this should also include the path for the driver manager directory which in your case is /usr/lib64 so could you add this ?
The error -
Failed to load ODBC library symbol: /usr/lib64/libmyodbc3.so(SQLSetDescRec)
indicates the /usr/lib64 directory cannot be accessed.
The entry should then look like -
(SID_DESC =
<space>(PROGRAM = dg4odbc)
<space>(ORACLE_HOME = /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1)
<space>(SID_NAME = test)
<space>(ENVS=LD_LIBRARY_PATH = /usr/local/lib:/usr/lib64:/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/lib)
<space>)
The spaces may have bene lost when posting but there should be at least one space in the file as indicated by the <space>.
After making the change then stop and start the listener.
If you still have problems then please post again the current versions of the configuration files, the full errors shown in SQLPLUS for a select and the output from a debug trace showing the errors.
The information shows you are using the 3.51 MySQL ODBC driver so could you also try with the latest version of the 5.1 driver and see if you have the same problem ?

JDBC connection error to ORACLE in JSP
To connect to the Oracle database (using java server pages), we have installed the oracle client on web server box during the installation, it has installed jdbc classes also. We have put this classes in the Environment variable - path and class path. We have also put the same in class path of JVM (virtual server -> java tab -> configure jvm attributes) also. Still the connectivity with database is not getting established!!
The Error is mentioned below : (from error log file)

ECC Connectivity Error from RWB (SXMB_CONF_ITEMS)
We are able to connect PI 7.1 to ECC 6.0 on our QA server successfully however when we attempt to connect to the ECC 6.0 on Prod we get the following errors from the RWB
Errors:
Are roles in SXMS_CONF_ITEMS and SLD Consistant? RED
Has an integration server destination been defined ? RED
Function SXMB_GET_IS_ENDPOINT failed (return code = 1)
Resolutions Attempeted:
1) In PI 7.1 We have created TS and BS for the production ECC 6. We get the above error in RWB.
Result: Works in QA. Green Lights in RWB when we point it to QA ECC system (create TS and BS for the QA ECC 6 system).
2) We checked the corresponding role for the business system as Intgration Server in SXMB_ADM and SLD Pipeline URL in Integration_server_xxx BS.
We cleared cache and rebooted system twice. We have the same settings in Prod however for some reason its not applying successfully.
3) We have the appropriate roles and profiles set for PIRWBUSER on the ECC side and PI side.
Could anyone please give me some clues to fix. Thank you for your time in advance.Thanks.
We just fixed this.
We set the Role of Business system as Application System in SXMB_ADM in Production ECC system to fix. -

ERROR at line 1:
ORA-28546: connection initialization failed, probable Net8 admin error
ORA-02063: preceding line from MYSQL_LOCALHi,
The gateway file initMYSQL_LOCAL.ora should be placed in the directory -
$ORACLE_HOME\hs\admin
which is the expected location. In your setup this should be -
C:\app\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\hs\admin
If the file is already in that location then make sure that in the listener.ora and tnsnames.ora that in each section every line except the first line starts with at least one space -
SID_LIST_LISTENER =
<space>(SID_LIST =
<space>(SID_DESC =
LISTENER =
<space>(DESCRIPTION_LIST =
Tnsnames.ora
MYSQL_LOCAL =
<space>(DESCRIPTION =
<space>(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost)(PORT = 1521))
However, there is also a problem with the tnsnames.ora file. You have -
Tnsnames.ora
MYSQL_LOCAL =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SID = MYSQL_LOCAL)
(HS = OK)
) <=== move this bracket
but it should be -
Tnsnames.ora
MYSQL_LOCAL =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SID = MYSQL_LOCAL)
) <=== bracket moved here
(HS = OK)
Of course, with spaces as shown above. They are often lost in the forums.
You may also need to change -
(HOST = localhost)
to -
(HOST = <actual host name>)
but it depends on your setup.
Try these changes and let me know what happens.

When i execute the query using link, this is the error what i get:
*ORA-28545: error diagnosed by Net8 when connecting to an agent*
*Unable to retrieve text of NETWORK/NCR message 65535*
*ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from PMS2KPI*
When i look for this error in *listener.ora* file, this is what i found

When I look for the details in *alert.log* file, i find this
HS: Unable to establish RPC connection to HS Agent...
HS: ... Agent SID = (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(COMMUNITY=tcp.world)(PROTOCOL=TCP)(Host=GRBHORDB01.garmco.local)(Port=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=pms2kpi))),
NCR error = 65535 Unable to retrieve text of NETWORK/NCR message 65535
Thu Oct 30 09:52:25 2014
My configuration seems to be ok....
*initpms2kpi.ora file*
#HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO=[GRBHSQDB01.garmco.local]/KPI
HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO="SERVER=GRBHSQDB01;DATABASE=KPI"
HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL=OFF
HS_FDS_RECOVERY_ACCOUNT=HS_RECOVERY
HS_FDS_RECOVERY_PWD=********
HS_FDS_TRANSACTION_LOG=HS_TRANSACTION_LOG
HS_FDS_TRANSACTION_MODEL=COMMIT_CONFIRM
HS_COMMIT_POINT_STRENGTH=0
*Listener.ora file*
(SID_DESC =
(SID_NAME = pms2kpi)
(ORACLE_HOME = C:\App\Oracle\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1)
(program = tg4msql)
*tnsnames.ora file*
pms2kpi =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (COMMUNITY = tcp.world) (PROTOCOL = TCP)(Host = GRBHORDB01.garmco.local)(Port = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SID = pms2kpi)
(HS=OK)
How can I check if some firewall is blocking the connection, or its a port issue... or maybe something wrong in the configuration, but chances are very less for this.
Kindly help if you have gone thru such an error.
Regards, ImranHi,
In the listener.ora you have -
(program = tg4msql)
but with 11g gateways the executable name has been changed and you should change the entry to -
(program = dg4msql)
then stop and start the listener.
If you installed the gateway into an existing ORACLE_HOME then the gateway version must be the same version as the software already installed.
For example, if the existing software was 11.2.0.4 and you installed 11.2.0.1 gateway this will give you problems and most likely the gateway executable will be 0 (zero) in size.

Connection Errors between Oracle 8 Client and Oracle 8.1.6 EE
Our current application has been developed using PowerBuilder 6.5 and Oracle 8.1.5. Since PB 6.5 does not have a "native driver" for 8.1.5, we have used their driver for Oracle 8.0.5 for Net8 connectivity to the server. Everything works fine.
Recently, I downloaded the current version of Oracle 8.1.6 EE from Technet to try out the compatibilty of our software with the next version of 8I, it failed. The error seems to be somewhere between the 8.0.5 Oracle Client Software and the downloaded Oracle 8.1.6 EE Server software. Some how we have lost the ability to declare cursors. I tried declaring a cursor in a procedure through SQL*Plus and it failed their as well. I have even tried the Oracle 8.0.6 Client, with same results.
Has anyone seen this? If so, what should I do?
Thanks,
JasonHOW TO SUPPORT TWO-TASK COMMON ERRORS - 1012295.102
Troubleshooting
===============
Two-task common errors are generally RDBMS related issues, but could be caused by a problem with SQL*Net, or an application (i.e. Pro*C).
ORA-03106
======== Possible reasons for the ORA-03106 errors include:
1. Incompatibilities between the client application and the RDBMS server.
For example, version incompatibilities, or a client trying to use a feature not supported by the database kernel.
2. When using database links or gateways.
3. Network or SQL*Net problems.
4. Corruptions.
5. PL/SQL - language related.
check the NLS_LANG variable on the client and server.
