It does happen some times. Not an unusual thing. Even at times , on Asktom too, errors come, very rare though!

DB Link Error from Oracle to Mysql
Hi ,
I have created the dblink from oralce to mysql using note id 1320645.1
I am getting the below error while connecting to the mysql using the dblink
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
[unixODBC][MySQL][ODBC 5.1 Driver]Access denied for user 'user'@'xxxx.xxxx.xxxx'
(using password: YES) {HY000,NativeErr = 1045}
ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from MYODBC5
Please help me to slove the error
Thanks in Advance
SudheerSudheer,
the error message is self explaining - your user 'user' connecting from the host @'xxxx.xxxx.xxxx' is not allowed to log into the MySQL database. To solve this issue you need to grant permissions to the user so that he can connect from any host (%) or just from that particular host where you installed the gateway.
The command to allow access from everywhere would be:
grant all on *.* TO '<user>'@'%' IDENTIFIED BY '<password>';
or just specify the IP address instead of '%' if you want to restrict it.
More details can be found in the MySQL manual:
MySQL :: MySQL 5.1 Reference Manual :: 6.2.7 Causes of Access-Denied Errors

How to exclude some ORA error from OEM monitoring
Hi,
We have been getting ORA-3217 alerts and to avoid them we have specified like this in metric and policy settings..
Warning ------ORA-0*(600?|7445|4[0-9] [0-9] [0-9])(?!3217)[^0-9]
critical---ORA-[0-9]*[^0-9]*(?!3217)
since then it stopped sending all ORA alerts, anything wrong in the above thresold.

Edited by: user602441 on Aug 13, 2009 8:42 AMI have the similar problem. I have ORA- in the Critical threshold and I just want to exclude ORA-00060 from critcial threshold. What will be the syntax for that? I do not want to filter it. I still want to recieve it as warning.
Thanks

How can I check if some firewall is blocking the connection, or its a port issue... or maybe something wrong in the configuration, but chances are very less for this.
Kindly help if you have gone thru such an error.
Regards, ImranHi,
In the listener.ora you have -
(program = tg4msql)
but with 11g gateways the executable name has been changed and you should change the entry to -
(program = dg4msql)
then stop and start the listener.
If you installed the gateway into an existing ORACLE_HOME then the gateway version must be the same version as the software already installed.
For example, if the existing software was 11.2.0.4 and you installed 11.2.0.1 gateway this will give you problems and most likely the gateway executable will be 0 (zero) in size.

SumanHi
The OS directory SECFILE is already available under 'c:\oracle' and the .pdf file is available under 'c:oracle\secfile'Why its under 'c:oracle\secfile'? It should be under 'c:oracle\' ...SECFILE is the name of the directory in Oracle not on OS. So your pdf should be at 'c:oracle\'.

Handle Oracle Error from Oracle Forms
Actually I have a form with all types of validation and Id will be auto-generated by forms.
Now if any oracle error occures after pre-insert, auto-generated number will generate but record is not saving.
I want to handle this oracle error in my form and nullify the auto-generated ID forcefully.
Edited by: Sudipto Nag on Sep 16, 2008 12:07 PMThe way we handle database error generally is this:
You should in any case have a NOT NULL constraint on the database column. In the ON-ERROR trigger, we then check for the dbms_error_code value to see, what error message the database returned, after checking for Forms returning the general trigger exception 40735. For example, to trap a NOT NULL constraint voilation, you would do something like this.
if error_code= 40735 then --Forms error code = "Trigger raised unhandled exception".
if dbms_error_code in (-1400, -1407) then --mandatory not null column missing
--do something, like alerting the user
elsif dbms_error_code in (<other DBMS error codes goes here>) then
--do something else
end if;
end if;I believe this is what you are looking for. Hope it helps.

Not applicable (SBL-ODS-50751) is message box text.
I didnt find this error code anywhere in forums/google.
Has anyone come across this or any idea what causes this?
I am facing this error in a trial account...however I dont think that matters anyway....

Error: ORA-03113 while executing complex java code from Oracle PL/SQL
Hi,
I am trying to execute a complex java code from Oracle PL/SQL. The classes were resolved successfully. But in the middle of execution, I am getting the following error:
ERROR:
ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE
begin
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
Process ID: 13685
Session ID: 21 Serial number: 20
Is there a way to debug the Java classes loaded into oracle? Or is there any utility to find out why the connection was lost?
Regards,
SaravanaHi Saravana:
You could use simply System.out.println(..) at your Java code and see the output at the .trc files generated for your Oracle session.
Or better than this adding Java Util Logging messages at your code, to see how to use JUL API at the OJVM please see this blog post [Using JUL API inside the OJVM|http://marceloochoa.blogspot.com/2007/11/getting-logging-entering-exiting-and.html].
Best regards, Marcelo.
PD: ora-0600 generally are associated with RDBMS bugs, but these bugs can be bypassed by replacing the code which throws the exception by other with a workaround. -

(This would also be the case for a NOARCHIVELOG database).
See the notes on NOREDO in the DUPLICATE command documentation in the Backup and Recovery Reference.

RegardsThere are a lot of similar errors on MOS, perhaps you should search through them and see if any apply to you.
What version/patch level are you on? Have you made any grid control threshold modifications? Are you using procobol in an upgraded database?
You might want to go through support for this one. -

I have used Oracle 9i server (9.2.0.1 version) on Windows XP machine(with SP2).I want to send Email from PL/SQL procedure.
My Question is what sort of configuration needed to perform this activity?
I have installed IIS (Internet Information Service)
in my machine, then configure my SMTP mail server
with a valid email id and password given TCP port 465.
Later I came to know that to send Email from PL/SQL I have to install Oracle JServer Code. Follow three steps. the steps are
1. Execute the script as sys "$ORACLE_HOME\javavm\install\initjvm.sql"
2. Execute the loadjava classfile as
$ORACLE_HOME\plsql\jlib>loadjava -f -v -r -u sys/**** plsql.jar
3. Execute the script as sys "$ORACLE_HOME\rdbms\admin\initplsj.sql"
I sucessfully executed the first step, but for the second step iam not able to locate the plsql.jar file in the specified path.
So Please tell me if there is any other method to perform this task
My code is as follows.

Thank You.1) Why did you install an SMTP server locally and then tell your code to try to use the server mail.google.com?
2) The error you're getting is from mail.google.com indicating that Google isn't running an open SMTP server there. I would be very surprised if Google were running a publicly available SMTP server anywhere since that would be an invitation for spammers.
