Connection to a Outside Database Table
Hi All
We have created two tables "cust_ucm_name" and "cust_ucm_code" which provide values as an option list to 2 Metadata CustomerName and CustomerCode till now we used to add the rows to the 2 tables using a dump file from another database containing our customer master
Is there any mechanism in UCM by which these two tables "cust_ucm_name" and "cust_ucm_code" could get the values from the outside database directly using ap rovider or something
Thanks
Raj
Hey raj,
there is no way in UCM to achieve this automatically. You need to do this from db end only. I guess your DBA should be able to set this up.
cheers,
sapan

Crytsal Reports 11 cannot connect to Visual Foxpro Database table
I hope someone can help me here. I have read through the other posts here, but can't seem to fiind the answer I need.
We use Crystal Reports to pull information from our Sage databases to create and distribute reports. Currently this is working fine on the original server. However, we decided to move the installation of Crystal Reports from one server to another.
In setting up the new server, I keep getting the message "The database table (table name) cannot be found. Proceed to remove this table from the report?" It displays this message for all the different tables in which data is trying to be accessed. Once I click No to all of these notifications, the correct info is poplulated in the report just fine. I need to get this corrected. It does not do this on the original installation.
Also if I open Database Expert and single click too expand the "Current Connections" folder, I get a message that pops up saying "Database Connector Error: 'HY010:[Microsoft][ODBC Visual Foxpro Driver] Function sequence error'". When I click OK to that, I get another similar error that reads "Database Connector Error: 'IM001:[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver does not support this function'"
Please let me know of any ideas that you may have as to what may be causing this issue. I have tried reinstalling the ODBC drivers, Runtime files, and Crystal. I appreciate any help.I tried what you mentioned but it did not work. I believe it has to do with a "SQLNumResultCols" in SQL. The reason I say this is because I did a trace on both the server that is working and the server that is not and this is the first key that displayed an error in the SQL.LOG file. Here is this section of the SQL.LOG file for the server that isnt working...
dde 2e94-28b0 EXIT SQLNumResultCols with return code -1 (SQL_ERROR)
HSTMT 03442998
SWORD * 0x0012F3F4
DIAG [HY010] [Microsoft][ODBC Visual FoxPro Driver]Function sequence error (0)
And here is this section of the SQL.LOG file for the server that is working...
dde eb8-c94 EXIT SQLNumResultCols with return code 0 (SQL_SUCCESS)
HSTMT 03542508
SWORD * 0x0012F3F4 (5)
I believe if I can figure out what is causing this, I will be able to resolve this issue, but I am not a programmer and I am having a very hard time with this. Any help is appreciated. -
Regarding Outside database table acess from SAP R/3.
dear all,
is it possible to access or call outside (thiird party) databse table from SAP R/3??
if it is then pls send me any useful link or any help regarding the same.
i will be so thankful.
regards,
jigarHi jigar,
1. for this u will also require help of basis team.
2. these are the steps.
a) make an entry in DBCON
b) make connection string
(on the physical application server,
so that it can connect to secondary database)
(this will be done by basis team,
in which, they will specify the
IP address of the secondary database server,
the DATABASE ID, and the port number)
c) then using open sql / native sql,
we can use the secondary database connection,
just like normal.
d) if we use open sql,
then there must be Y/Z table on
sap as well as secondary database,
and the field names , their type all should be identical.

I use the Sap Netweaver Developer Studio.
Thank yoo .
LUCASHi
I have mention the rs as ResultSet from database.
See the thread for database connection
Re: what is the process to connect to database from webdynpro ?
try{

Statement st=conn.createStatement();

You can get the samples and Tutorials from here.
You can understand how it works try to import the samples and learn how to get the values and assign the values to a UI elements.

Tables not shown in connections tree for DB2 databases
Hi!
I often use SQL Developer to connect to our DB2 databases. However, when I expand the desired schema in a DB2 database, the Tables node is empty, although it should not be. There are tables in that schema and I can select data from them, so security is not an issue:
For example:
select tabschema, tabname from syscat.tables where tabschema not like 'SYS%' order by 1,2;
returns many schema names and table names is those schemas. Let's pick one, i.e table name METER_TYPE in schema METER ( there are 4 tables in schema METER)
select count(*) from meter.meter_type
returns: 38
However, the Tables node shows no tables. Tese tables are not Aliases (DB2 slang for synonyms) or views, however, those 2 nodes are also empty when they should not be - we have schemas with aliases and views, which are also NOT shown. The Index node is populated most frequently, but not completely (there are indexes missing).
Here are my details (don't be fooled by java 1.7, the behaviour is the same with 1.6):

For some unknown and probably pointless reason, forms converts the tree query to uppercase before executing it. This can cause problems if the sql contains any hardcoded strings. In my case I was doing something like
decode(status,1,'red',2,'green')||icon_name
this resulted in REDicon when my icon was actually redicon.gif -
Database Table Resource via Oracle RAC connection Manager
Hello,
Our current IDM 8.1 syncs off a HR Database Table using the Database Table connector.
Our DBA's are moving the view into an Oracle RAC environment.
Question: Is there a way for us to connect and sync off our DB table through an Oracle RAC connection manager.
I understand that for the IDM repository, this is possible.
jdbc:oracle:thin@(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(LOAD_BALANCE = ON)
(FAILOVER = ON)
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = server1.ser.com)(PORT = 1521))
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = server2.ser.com)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVER = DEDICATED)
(SERVICE_NAME = db.com)
servers server1 and server2 are oracle connection managers
Thank you for your input,
-RCWe moved the repository to Oracle RAC recently. The syntax to switch to the new databasecluster was something like this:
lh setRepo -tOracle -ujdbc:oracle:thin:@//dbcluster1.domain:1521/service_idm.oradb.domain -Uwaveset -Pwachtwoord
For the 'lh setRepo' command the old database had to be up, and we had to use the old ojdb5.jar. After that we switched to ojdb6.jar.
One of our resources is a database table with HR data in the same database. The following Database Access Parameters work for us:
Database Type: Oracle
JDBC Driver: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
JDBC URL Template: jdbc:oracle:thin:@//%h:%p/%d
Host : dbcluster1.domain
Database: service_idm.oradb.domain
Port: 1521

Jibin.Hi,
It is possible to modify database table in bulk.
You can use the following syntax:
=====
Modify dbtab FROM wa -
> To modifiy single record
Modify dbtab FROM TABLE itab -
> To modify bulk records.
Update dbtab FROM wa -
> To modifiy single record
Update dbtab FROM TABLE itab -
> To modify bulk records.
=====
Remember that update command update existing records where as modify comand updates existing records and if the record does not exists, it inserts the record.

DB Connect Error - There is no table in database system
I am trying to get DB Connect to work in our BI 7.0 system. I believe I have the DB Connect source system setup correctly. In BI, I execute the following steps:
1. Right-click on the DB Source system and select Additional Functions > Select Database Tables (3.x)
2. Enter my DB Source System
3. Check Select Tables and Select Views
4. I get the message 'There is no table in database system'.
Can some please make some suggestions on what I have done wrong?
Thanks.
Regards,
RonWhatever the Database user name you define in SAP the views/tables in the DB system should have the same owner.
Ex: If connection between BW and DB is defiend under user SAP1 then the owner of the database should also be SAP1.

Connecting to an Oracle database after clicking on a foi
Does anyone know how or have any examples on how to connect to an oracle database after clicking on a 'feature of interest' in MapViewer? I want to be able to click on a 'feature of interest' on the map, and have a list of records from an oracle table displayed using the identified key of the foi. I am able to create the feature of interest, and add the event listener for 'mouse click', but am unsure how to connect to the database at this point. I have been able to connect to the database in a different jsp, but not from here. Thank you.
1. Create a JSP page that does the database query. It should take the foi id as an input parameter.
2. In the foi mouse click listener, display the JSP page in iframe. The iframe can be placed outside the map or inside the info window. The function should do something like this.
function myClickListener(point, foi)
mapview.displayInfoWindow(point, "<iframe id='my_iframe_id' frameborder=0 width=300px height=400px />", 300, 400) ;
var myIframe = document.getElementById("my_iframe_id") ;
myIframe.src = "http://myhost/myjsp?key=" + foi.id ;

We have set up the following method for displaying reports via our website:
User is sent to a report-specific page. The user is given some filtering options specific to the report that will be viewed. When the user has specified the data filters, the user clicks a button.
The page wraps up the report parameters -- selection query, formula values, report location, the name to be displayed, etc. -- into a class which gets put into the Session object.
The page redirects to DisplayReport.aspx. ALL reports redirect to this page.
DisplayReport.aspx retrieves the report parameters from Session. A ReportDocument object is created and loaded, then set with the data from the parameters class.
A ConnectionInfo object is created and set with the relevant log on credentials. All of the reports draw from the same database, so the connection information is hard-coded as the same for all reports. The page then iterates through all of the tables in the Database.Tables collection of the ReportDocument and calls ApplyLogOnInfo to each table using the ConnectionInfo object.
The page is rendered and the user gets the filtered report.
We currently have seven reports. Five reports work fine and display the correctly filtered data with no error messages. Two reports generate a Failed to open the connection error and do not display. I have verified that the queries being sent to DisplayReport.aspx are valid, and as I said the connection information itself is hard-coded in the one page that displays the reports and this is identical to all reports.
The five reports that do work all have a single data table, either an actual database table or a single view. The two reports that do not work all have multiple tables. As far as I can tell, this is the only difference between the sets; all seven reports are based on the same DSN and I have verified the database on all of the reports. All of the reports were written using Crystal Reports 8, and all of the reports display fine in a Windows app I wrote some years ago using Crystal Reports 8. Again, the only difference between those reports that do work and those that do not is the number of tables used in the report: one table or view in the reports that display, more than one table (tables only, none use views) in the reports that do not display.
As for the code I am using, below are the relevant methods. The function MakeConnectionInfo simply parses out the components of a standard SQL connection string into a ConnectionInfo object. DisplayedReport is the ID of the CrystalReportViewer on the page.Protected Sub Page_Init(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
Dim o As Object = Session("ReportParams")
Dim ReportURL As String = ""
'Verify that there is a ReportParameters object
If o Is Nothing OrElse o.GetType IsNot GetType(ReportParameters) Then 'Redirect to the error page
Response.Redirect("/errors/MissingReport.aspx")
End If
ReportParams = CType(o, ReportParameters)
'Verify that the report exists
ReportURL = "/Reports/ReportFiles/" + ReportParams.ReportName
ReportPath = Server.MapPath(ReportURL)
If Not File.Exists(ReportPath) Then
Response.Redirect("/errors/MissingReport.aspx?Report=" + ReportParams.ReportTitle)
End If
InitializeReport()
End Sub
Protected Sub InitializeReport()
Dim RD As New ReportDocument
Dim CI As ConnectionInfo = MakeConnectionInfo(DB_Bonus)
Dim RPF As CrystalDecisions.Shared.ParameterField = Nothing
RD.Load(ReportPath)
If ReportParams.SelectString <> "" Then
Dim Adapt As New SqlDataAdapter(ReportParams.SelectString, DB_Bonus)
Dim DS As New Data.DataSet
Adapt.Fill(DS)
RD.SetDataSource(DS.Tables(0))
End If
For Each kvp As KeyValuePair(Of String, String) In ReportParams.Formulas
Dim FFD As FormulaFieldDefinition = Nothing
Try
FFD = RD.DataDefinition.FormulaFields(kvp.Key)
Catch ex As Exception
'Do nothing
End Try
If FFD IsNot Nothing Then
Select Case FFD.ValueType
Case FieldValueType.DateField, FieldValueType.DateTimeField
If IsDate(kvp.Value) Then
FFD.Text = String.Format("Date()", Convert.ToDateTime(kvp.Value).ToString("yyyy, MM, dd"))
Else
FFD.Text = "Date(1960, 01, 01)"
End If
Case FieldValueType.StringField
FFD.Text = String.Format("""""", kvp.Value)
Case Else
'For now, treat these as if they were strings. If things blow up here,
'we will need to add the appropriate formatting for the field type.
FFD.Text = String.Format("""""", kvp.Value)
End Select
End If
Next
For Each T As CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table In RD.Database.Tables
Dim TLI As TableLogOnInfo = T.LogOnInfo
TLI.ConnectionInfo = CI
T.ApplyLogOnInfo(TLI)
Next
DisplayedReport.ReportSource = RD
End Sub
Does this approach not work with reports containing multiple tables, or is there something I'm missing? Any meaningful suggestions would be much appreciated.Dear Dixit,

After REFRESH the cached object is not consistent with the database table
After REFRESH, the cached object is not consistent with the database table. Why?
I created a JDBC connection with the Oracle database (HR schema) using JDeveloper(10.1.3) and then I created an offline database (HR schema)
in JDeveloper from the existing database tables (HR schema). Then I made some updates to the JOBS database table using SQL*Plus.
Then I returned to the JDeveloper tool and refreshed the HR connection. But I found no any changes made to the offline database table JOBS in
JDeveloper.
How to make the JDeveloper's offline tables to be synchronized with the underling database tables?qkc,
Once you create an offline table, it's just a copy of a table definition as of the point in time you brought it in from the database. Refreshing the connection, as you describe it, just refreshes the database browser, and not any offline objects. If you want to syncrhnonize the offline table, right-click the offline table and choose "Generate or Reconcile Objects" to reconcile the object to the database. I just tried this in 10.1.3.3 (not the latest 10.1.3, I know), and it works properly.

Inserting values from a PL SQL table to a database table
Hi,
Here is my dilemma.
I have values inserted to a pl sql table which I have gathered from a web page. Now I need to add these same values to a database table. I see the values as 1-'AA', 2='BB' etc.
I use the following code to insert to a outside table in the database and it seems to be crashing.
for i in app_table.first .. app_table.last loop
r_convention(i).priority_country_code:=app_table(i);
insert into test_countries
values (test_seq,tion(i).r_convention(i).priority_country_code);
commit;
end loop;
WHen I run this code I see the values. But it goes to the first value and then crashes and does not go through the
rest of the values. What am I missing here?
Thanks!Hi,
Why can't you directly insert into the table from the object type....
for i in app_table.first .. app_table.last loop
r_convention(i).priority_country_code:=app_table(i);
insert into test_countries
values (test_seq,app_table(i));
commit;
end loop;Can you give me your complete code, so that we can have a better picture..
