    I have no problem with my code connecting to an Oracle 8 database, just 9i.
    I'm trying to debug in Visual Cafe (JDK 1.1.7) and have both the classes111.zip and the nls_charset11.zip in my CLASSPATH.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

    If you're using 8i 8.1.7.1 or 8i 8.1.7.0 thin JDBC drivers on NT, then you can get them to connect to 9i by applying the 8i 8.1.7.1 Patch available at:
    http://technet.oracle.com/software/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/htdocs/solsoft.html
    You might have to register/login first.
    Basically, it's just a case of replacing a class already in your classes111.zip or classes12.zip with the class in the patch.
    Took me a while to find this, but it worked first time after patching. Hope this helps.

    Hi,
    have you deployed the JDBC driver for your DB2 database in your XI system........if not, then ask your basis guys to find the weblog to deploy the JDBC driver in XI system and then deploy your DB2 database driver in your JDBC driver in XI system............
    then again execute your scenario.

  • Remote Database connection throught JDBC-ODBC

    Hi everybody
    I've developed an application which connects to a MS Access database throught the JDBC-ODBC bridge; if the database is on my local machine I've no problem at all, but I now need to connect to a database on a remote PC. I've set the DSN entry for the database on the remote computer and try to connect using something like:
    String db_name="jdbc:odbc:remote_pc_name\\\\DSN_db_name";
    Properties db_prop=new Properties();
    db_prop.setProperty("user","username");
    db_prop.setProperty("password","user_password");
    Connection dbconn=DriverManager.getConnection(db_name,db_prop);
    but the ODBC driver gives me the message
    "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] DSN not found and driver not specified.
    I've tried other possible "connection strings" but I always get the same message.
    The software works properly if I connect to the local DB with:
    String db_name="jdbc:odbc:DSN_db_name";
    Any idea how to connect to a remote DB through ODBC?
    Thanks

    No need for a separate thread really is there? its still relevant to the original.

    Hi. Read the weblogic startup script, and follow how it creates
    a classpath argument for the server. You must get the driver jars
    into that classpath.

  • Connecting to IDMS database via JDBC

    Has anyone successfully set up JDBC connectivity to generate reports using data in an IDMS mainframe database containing multiple schemas, where several schemas may contain tables with the same name?
    We have no issues when using ODBC to connect to the various schemas in this IDMS databases, but we need to convert the connectivity for existing reports to JDBC.
    When I open the JDBC connection, I see the expected hierarchy of schemas and tables in the Database Expert window.  If I try to select a table I get the following error message if a table of that same name exists in other schemas:
    Failed to retrieve data from the database.
    Details:  SQL exception: [SQL State:]  42000  [Error message:]  DB002046 T11094 C-4M347: Duplicate table ids for ASISCHEM.SR-ACT and CORPCHEM.SR-ACT in area CORPDB.ACTIVITY-AREA [Database Vendor Code: -4]
    So although we can connect to the database via JDBC, we can't use the connectivity because Crystal  does not appear to correctly resolve that I'm selecting the table from within a specific schema.
    Can anyone advise on how to make sure the table name selection is qualified by the correct schema name?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
    Try running the query outside of CR to verify the JDBC driver is passing the fully qualified name also.
    Then look in the Designer and Show SQL to verify it's there as well as Set Table Location. You may be able to fully qualify it in that UI.
    Thank you
    Don

  • Connect to an Oracle database by using oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver: error

    Hi,
    I'm trying to connect to an Oracle database so we can retrieve notes of tables, views and packages.
    By using the API of Data Modeler (transformation script) we want to add these notes to corresponding objects in Data Modeler.
    I'm starting with this:
    importPackage(java.lang);
    importPackage(java.awt);
    importPackage(java.sql);
    java.lang.Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver");
    An error occurs when I run this code:
    It has to be a Java thing...
    Anyone a suggestion?

    Problem solved! One of my colleagues referred to this post: Import user defined properties from Oracle Designer
    More in detail: it's about this couple of lines:
    // Copy the ojdbc6.jar file to ..\datamodeler-home\jlib directory
    // Add this line to datamodeler.conf
    //      AddJavaLibFile  ../../jlib/ojdbc6.jar
    I changed my datamodeler.conf file, restarted DM and now there's no longer an error when I am trying to use the Oracle JDBC drive.
